The baleada and the pupusa are my staple orders. They are always cooked to perfection and delicious. This is my favorite Honduran restaurant.
Food is authentic Honduran food. Extremely delicious. Service is very slow though, even though we were the only ones there. We had to keep getting the waitress attention. But the food makes up for it. The orchata was also on point.
I like this place. Good food (I have had chicken tamales and pupusa), great prices and the service is super nice (im often very undecided when it comes to new dishes and the lady behind the desk was super helpful)
It takes a while to get the order out when you dine in but it's only because the food is super fresh. Everything on the menu is made per order, right down to the rice. If you grab a few coronas and chit chat with company the time breezes by. It's well worth the wait when you know the food is clean, authentic, fresh and delicious. Portions are large and can easily be split between 2 people. It's hard to find authentic Honduran restaurants that don't incorporate other central and south American dishes but this place stays true to the roots.
Real traditional Honduran food. I’ve been living in the neighborhood for two years and order from here at least once a week and have never been disappointed. I do agree it’s better to order to go than eat in unless your not in a rush but the food will not disappoint. I love their chicken tacos durados, seafood soup, shrimp in garlic sauce with rice and avacado salad it’s all delicious.
If you are looking for authentic Honduran food in Brooklyn then you have found it here! Restaurant is clean and the food is delicious. The food is made fresh so it may take a bit of time to serve. There's on street parking as well as metered parking.
This review and images are based on orders from 2 different days. Some of the reviews I read of this restaurant almost diverted me from placing my first order, but Im glad I didn't bc their baleadas and pupusas are awesome. Yes, there will be a wait on orders you place for pick-up or delivery, especially on busy days/times (think Fridays & Saturdays). My first order was placed for a Saturday night's dinner, I asked how long the wait would be and the person who took my order had an accurate estimate of the waiting period. The wait was a long but I agreed to it, he was efficient and straightforward. From what I've tried-Baleadas sencillas are great. Pupusas de queso y mixtas, are also great. Pollo con tajadas; I appreciated to be asked if I wanted my tajadas thick or thin, that was unexpected, specially after reading a handful of reviews about their customer service. The chicken thigh was juicy, however, the chicken leg was slightly undercooked, enough for me to not finish eating it. If you are a manager/owner reading this, a meat thermometer can easily prevent this from happening, losing customers and more importantly avoiding food poisoning! -☆ Over the phone and in person two different people took my orders, both were placed with no trouble, except for meeting the minimum requirement for delivery, I live a bit far but once I increased my total they were kind to deliver. Will give the pollo con tajadas a second try just in case the day I called the restaurant was saturated with orders and will adjust/update rating thereafter. What I noticed from my second order and what consisted of first visit to the restaurant, everything is made to order, they sale home-cooked style meals, do keep this in mind and order before getting hAngry. I wanted to make sure I included this in my review bc some people seem to be expecting fast food from here and many have left harsh comments as if the pandemic hasn't taught many of us to be kind-er, people are making your meals in a kitchen not machines at a food factory.
Overpriced, food not good. Got our order of pupusas wrong. Ordered 5 pupsas de revueltas, 2 de queso (apparently can only order the queso in a set of 2 and not individual). Gave us 4 de queso & 3 revueltas :/. No bueno. Took really long to get it. The place barely had people in it (literally 2 customers) yet there were a lot of people in the back kitchen so didn't understand why the food took so long only for them to mess it up. A long time ago the place use to be good but it just kept declining at some point over the years.
Poor service, so rude staff and the food was barely cook, we wait like an hour for our order, never order here again.
Terrible service. My order took almost an hour to arrive, and they sent the wrong food. After eating, the food gave me food poisoning. Awful experience, I do not recommend this place at all.
Great experience, I ordered two large seafood soups + salad + pupusas + large juices.... When I opened my soup, only my partner's soup had fish and not mine.... I call to see if they give me a solution and they tell me that I'm lying 😂. I explain to him that I'm not lying and he tells me that only for my next order he will give me an extra fish 😂.
Never coming back again! bad service can't even orden my food right . it didn't bring food I ask for, Worse waitress u have there .
This place is a joke, the service is horrible, and the woman doesn’t know anything!!! They just drink and mistake your order and argue with you thinking you’re in the wrong!!! The lady was mad on the phone and gave us the wrong order with small portion!!! Would not support this business ever!! Need new staff!!!
Don't waste your money there!! If I could give this place zero stars I would, no air conditioning in 85° -90° weather, barely any lights, not even cushions on the seats, literally, hard cheap seats to sit on! Now the food, smh not worth it, cheap cheese that'll have a person in the bathroom with the runs all night! Everything else is poorly cooked & just simply not worth the money, time & effort to go there, if you can find a better Honduran place to eat, please do so, this place surely isn't worth it!!
The food wasn't great. I asked the waiter to turn on the 16 lights from the ceiling because they used 6 lights on the wall only not the ceiling. She did turn the lights from the ceiling but than she was told by the owner to turn the lights off from the ceiling because it's how he wants for people to eat at his place with 6 lights on the wall. If you want to eat here bring your flashlight. I see how others gave good reviews but they must be family related.
I am updating the review. Today was my mother's birthday & she wanted an authentic Honduran meal. It was a horrible experience. I told them that I would have a party of four to five people, they put out a table on the sidewalk that only two people can sit but they put four chairs not enough to hold the plates & the drinks. We were surrounded by dirty orange Con-Ed Street cones. There were no gates, no partitions, no fenced off area and no covering or umbrella. Very uncomfortable, the waitress was borderline obnoxious, my mother tried to start a small talk conversation and the waitress quickly ignored my mom and then walked away with no expression on her face. There were no other customers in this place . When she came to get our orders she listened to me and my mom & she ignore the rest of my family. We thought everything was okay, after receiving both my meal and my mom's meal we waited 45 minutes and then said hey what happened to the two orders of hamburgers. She brought out the the chips in guacamole that was ordered with the hamburgers but she didn't bring the hamburgers out and what did the waitress do instead of apologizing for her mistake? She accuses us and says we didn't order it. I just looked at her, you think we would order two meals and ignore the other two family members and they just watch us eat, really? She was being very mean and ruining my mom's birthday, afterwards she begrudgingly said we can make the hamburgers if you want. My sons were annoyed and at that point very unhappy with her, she did nothing to make up for it, nothing at all, horrible experience. The boys ended up eating nothing at the restaurant, because the waitress failed to do her job. I still tipped her but maybe I shouldn't have. Was trying to teach my kids to always be fair and tip working people but in the end I don't think this waitress deserved it. She gave the restaurant a bad name, it is her actions that will prevent me from ever coming back to this place and I will tell my family and friends not to come eat here. They have just lost quite a bit of business, if anybody cares, you should not go here to eat. Find a better place that respects the customer and give you a better experience.
I’ve eaten at this place several times the food is great but the service is terrible I just called for a delivery and the woman who answered the phone was so rude she kept repeating the my phone number and home address the wrong way I tried to correct her and she wasn't having it I asked her how long it would take the delivery to come and she stated I can’t tell you “I’m super busy right now” I told her I was paying with a card she stated “I’m busy I can’t do it” and simply hung up it sucks that they have such terrible people working there. So guess what I couldn’t even place my order and don’t want to
Went here on a quiet Sunday afternoon it was not busy at all, there was only one other table in the restaurant. The service was horrendous. The food is served on disposable plates and in small portions. The waitresses are chit chatting away not checking on us nor paying attention to the front of the restaurant. They all had attitudes and when we stated that we didn’t like the Horchata not once but 2x (it was gritty, way too cinnamony and overly sweetened) and didn’t drink it they wouldn’t comp the drinks, telling us that that’s the way it’s made...that we had to pay for them. Honestly would never come back.
Service was awful, the waitress had a horrible attitude, she got up set whenever we asked questions about the menu. Most of the menu items were not available, and when we wanted to order pupusas we couldn't mix them one of each on the toppings. I Definitely will not try this place here again.
