Love this place, one of our regular spots. Consistently great food and generous portions. Dry pot cauliflower is especially to-die for. One complaint is that the vegetarian tofu dish has a bit of a funky texture- quite heavily fried and chewy. I wish they had another vegetarian tofu option because that's literally their only flaw.

The food was SO excellent!!! Incredible Szechuan kitchen. We placed our orders based on the ingredients that stood out to us. While waiting we noticed what the people next to us had - massive dishes, saucy and fragrant of spices. Our dishes came and I was pleasantly surprised that the ones we chose happened to be on the healthier side: pea shoots in a light almost brothy sauce, chicken and peppers where the peppers were bright and still crispy but still retained heat throughout the dish also in a translucent sauce that feels homey and inviting rather than heavy. 10/10 great portions, flavor, price, and setting.

I discovered this place through some friends — they ordered food from this restaurant while I was at their place, and I have to say I was delighted. I tried the eggplant with garlic sweet sauce, the mapo tofu, and the sautéed spicy lotus. Everything was surprisingly delicious. I’ll definitely keep ordering from here

We love Shan. Great for larger groups. Fantastic atmosphere. Wonderful and delicious food. Great classic dishes like soup dumplings and ma po tofu. Even better when you go off-piste. We loved the fresh tomato soup and the steamed eggs with pork. Thanks very much, Shan! You are a treat!

One of the few restaurants I have come across in Brooklyn specializing in Sichuan cuisine. Some of my must-orders are the chili oil dumplings, the osmanthus drink, and fried braised duck with baos. Really delicious and would return for lunch or dinner!

Went on New Year's Got take out and waiting at the bar Had a Guinness -- was much better than most other bars, so recommend if you're looking for a decent pour! Food is amazing as always. Got mild spicy for my 1 year old, and they delivered well. Fried rice has a nice subtle herb flavor. Chicken is tender and not heavily breaded. Broccoli was spot on. This will be a regular spot for the nights when we want "Chinese food." Might be considered pricey, but you get what you pay for and it's worth it from time to time.

Please note: Writing from the perspective of a person who has been day drinking. 1. Get the Soup Dumplings (black truffle and pork?) not life changing, but will 100% bring joy to your life. 2. Ordering something spicy? Get the barbaresco. 3. Drunken duck is enough to be shared with 4 ppl.

What a gem! All dishes were amazing, including the Yuzu Cotta dessert. The ingredients were of high quality. The staff was professional, friendly and attentive. This place is a must for Chinese food. Picture was taken once we had started eating, but sharing anyways as proof of how good everything looked.

Fantastic dishes, service, and ambiance! Especially loved the pork belly cold appetizer & beef dry pot. The servers were so kind and helpful! Not the prettiest photos since we were hungry but the dishes were presented well. We did mild spice and it was still very flavorful.

Outstanding food. I highly recommend the black sesame balls for dessert. Heavenly texture and taste. Not too sweet. The fermented rice soup it comes in is the perfect companion.

The freshest prawn and cleanest dry pot you’ll ever have. It’s like you can taste every single ingredient used! I am in love with their mapo tofu too!

My absolute favorite Chinese restaurant in NYC, hands down. Not only is their menu fantastic (has all the classic sichuan dishes), service is friendly, the drinks and dessert are phenomenal and the ambience is the cherry on top. Their chongqing chicken, chicken and pepper stir fry and cabbage are my go tos. It is also hard to find a place that has traditional ice jelly desserts like they do and it’s such a perfect way to end a spicy meal.

One of our favorite restaurants, Shan never disappoints! We've been here 10+ times. Our go-tos are the dan dan noodles, scallion pancakes (so crispy!), lamb dry pot, and snow pea shoots. The wintermelon ice tea is delicious too although a little expensive. We also tried the chongqing chicken (crispy and spicy) and szechuan wontons recently which were yummy too. They do charge tip on the amount including tax for the preset percentages, which isn't great (usually I just do 20%).

Came here for Restaurant Week - what a perfectly balanced and rich menu (pre-fix menu also includes a glass of wine and a cocktail). We had XO Sauce Oyster Mushroom and Fresh Squid w/Garlic and Chili Oil for appetizer (very flavorful); perfectly tender and juicy Pork Soup Dumplings (black truffle and pork roe); Lychee Kung Pao Crispy Pork and Braised Beef w/Abalone in Tomato Sauce for entrée (hearty portions and great taste); Sweet & Sour Cabbage and Snow Pea Shoots w/Garlic for vegetable (the best part of the meal! fresh, yummy and such a symphony of tastes!) and Yuzu Coconut Cotta and Osmanthus Ice Jelly for dessert (just the right amount of sweetness and fun texture!) - everything was up to par! Service was very delicate and attentive, and the whole atmosphere quite nice. I’ll definitely be coming back to explore more of Szechuan cuisine.

Went to celebrate lunar new year and opted for the restaurant week menu for dinner. For $60, it’s an amazing deal. So much food which also comes with two alcohol beverages. I ordered an extra cocktail, nutty fashioned, which was delicious. Everything we ordered was tasty. This restaurant was really busy and totally understand that there were times where dishes were missing or came out really late, esp given it was lunar new year. The server was the friendliest person and was so positive the entire night. It was a long dinner that lasted close to 3 hours but was so worth it. Definitely recommend their Szechuan dishes and soup dumplings!

We went here for dinner. It was very busy, so we sat at the bar. The layout is a typical NYC street restaurant. The food was awesome, as well as the services. We truly enjoyed our dining experience there. The waiters and waitresses seem all in their 20s, very enthusiastic on what they do and very friendly, always with a smile! The dishes are more on the Sichuan style but they all spoke Cantonese and Mandarin. They are a creative set of drinks, a bit pricy but perhaps normal in NYC. We ordered a shrimp dish and the waiter considerately asked us if we prefer to peel the shrimp shells off before cook them. We really appreciate it. The spicy chicken was also really good. Highly recommended!

Shan was a very cute and quaint restaurant. The moment we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted with a mouthwatering fragrance of Chinese food. The staff were very nice and welcoming! The level of service here was top-notch, we didn’t even have to ask the staff to refill our water - the moment our water was running low, the staff came and replaced the water jug! The soup dumplings were soo good! The dumpling wrappers were handmade and thin, showcasing the expertise of their chefs in the back. The soup and the filling were so flavorful that I did not need much vinegar at all! The spicy cumin lamb was quite spicy - a little too spicy for my tastebuds, but it smelled incredible! If you have a low spice tolerance, I would avoid this dish or ask for less spice. The stringbeans were so delicious! We demolished the plate of stringbeans. It was so flavorful and full of umami! The taste was so addicting and we couldn’t help ourselves from eating more and more! The beef noodle soup was really tender and warms you right up, with just the right amount of spice. The desserts were so delicious as well! I personally loved the ice lychee jelly! It was not too sweet and the foam on top reminded me of a very light icecream! The rice cakes were yummy as well - but they tend to stick to your teeth, so just a word of caution there! Overall, the experience here was great! It would be a cute spot to bring someone on a date!

Tasty sichuan spot in the neighborhood. The cocktail was a nice surprise. Great service. I will definitely come back next time when I crave for spicy food.

Everything is great except the Tofu fish is a bit too sour for my taste. Highly recommend the dumplings, noodles and fried rice. Very authentic Sichuan style. It makes me feel at home:)

Food and cocktails were delicious, staff were so fantastic. Especially loved the dry pot. Only downside was we felt like the 4 seater tables/chairs were a little too tight for us to sit comfortably in and were pretty small people.

It’s our 2nd time there, the food was delicious. unfortunately, the dish and tofu dishes we ordered were tasted a bit sour, we thought that’s the way it was. When we got home, we were having diarrhea and kept going to the bathroom for the rest of the night. Normally this will be a red flag that I would never eat there again.

Today I was feeling Chinese food then I found this online but here's what I thought about it. So my friend and I went and we got The kung Pao chicken, scallion pancakes, wontons and broth, pork pot stickers Xiao long bao and rice. I'm gonna start off with the best, so my favorite was the Scallion pancakes, they tasted like traditional Chinese scallion pancakes, they were flakey not fried too much and not oily so overall I give them a 9/10. Now the pork potstickers they were basically like regular gaozi they were pretty good so I give them a 7/10 not the best but not the worst. Then the wontons and broth, in my opinion they could be more flavorful for my taste but it tastes much like traditional wontons in soup so I give it a 7.5/10. Now the Xiao Long Bao, they were honestly pretty good they were pretty flavorful with the sauce they give and overall a solid 8/10 . The rice was a bit dry and I had to add water to it due to the dryness so that was a 5.2/10 for me. And lastly one of their most popular mains the item that determined this rating, The infamous Kung Pao Chicken, honestly they were very disappointing, they were a popular item so I had my hopes up but they were soon brought way down, I thought they would be flavorful and actually tasting like chicken but they were not flavorful, doughy (they added way too much cornstarch) and overall not the best so honestly it's a 2/10. So overall I was a little mean but this does not deserve a 5 star rating (in my opinion) and I hope this helped you decide if you wanted to come or not.
