The Wheelhouse is a popular spot in Bushwick known for its delicious sandwiches, especially the Braised Short Rib and Cubano. Customers rave about the friendly staff and inviting atmosphere. Some find the tomato soup and drinks lacking, but the overall experience is highly positive.

Food is fire staff is awesome 24 hr!!
The purpose of this review is not to hate or harm this store in any way, shape, or form. That being said, I hope you take this review as an informative review. Atmosphere: I'll say that this Deli looks like other recent Delis that have come up around Brooklyn. I mean, it looks kind of new from the outside and the inside. You can tell the difference between a sort of new Deli and an old one. Service: So, I don't really know who manages the store or if there is more than one manager, but a lady was there the day I went. She seemed like one of those impatient ladies. Nevertheless, that was a "don't judge a book by its cover" moment. I was trying to buy a sandwich with a low sodium protein for personal reasons. I kindly asked the lady if I could try a small piece of their regular turkey to see how salty it was before telling them to make the sandwich. She agreed, informed the guy about it, and made sure the guy made the sandwich the way I needed it to be. As you can see from the picture, it looks like a regular turkey sandwich. However, the service is what makes it different, and I really appreciate that. Food: I can only talk about the turkey sandwich I bought. It was a good sandwich. I wished there could've been more variety of vegetables to add to my sandwich, but I understand that they probably ran out of those vegetables. Other than the food at the grill, I guess you'll be able to find other things you'd usually see at a Deli store. Price: From what I remember, the price of the sandwich was pretty much the same most Delis have. It's not a head breaker. I'll say prices are decent.
10/10 experience every time I come in. They always have what I need and Leila behind the counter is the sweetest lady ever. She’s very helpful and always puts a smile on my face. Very sad to be moving away from this store. The food is fantastic, there aren’t any bugs flying around, and it’s very clean inside. I’ve ordered over 100 sandwiches here over the last 2 years and they’ve always been great no matter what time it is. The old guy who makes the food late night is awesome too. Highly recommend this very well ran establishment. Any bad review must be from a generally angry person or they were having a bad day because I don’t have a single bad thing to say about this place or the people that work here. I’d have my wedding here if I could.
My phone died in Williamsburg and I was lost and they allowed me to plug my phone in to recharge a little bit, so I could at least use Uber. I am thankful for the people in this establishment for their kindness
I go to Firehouse all the time. Family-owned business, and they're very friendly. Owner has price-matched products that I've found a bit cheaper at nearby stores, which is a great way to build a loyal customer base, imo. He's even offered to bring in a specialty dog food for me to save me a couple bucks on what I pay elsewhere. Good people.
I was impressed by the host. We only got there for some take out soups but he was very welcoming and kind. He invited us to sit and offered us water while waiting. It is very rare to be treated so nicely in a genuine (not tip-motivated) way. The soups (clam chowder and lentil soups) and ciabatta bread were very good. We will be back!
Oh my Lordy it’s perfect! I got the Philly cheesesteak melt but on sourdough and it was soooooo fire. Their house salad is dope, it has mandarins, red onion, carrot, and a light vinaigrette. Perfect. You can tell it’s family owned and family vibes. We had nice beer and played dominos while we waited for our food. Would definitely come back.
If you're looking for the best spot in town, this is it! They serve amazing sandwiches, but what really makes it special are the owners, Philip and Susana. They are such wonderful people and love chatting with customers. If you can, definitely choose to dine in – it’s the best way to enjoy the atmosphere and the food!
As a Bushwick native, I can’t believe I’ve only been here once. The menu looks very nice, I plan on coming back to try some new things. I came for brunch and I was very satisfied with my meal. I got the avocado toast with eggs and sausage on the side. Next time I come, I’ll probably bring a group of friends. The ambiance would’ve felt nicer with people to share it with.
I was not prepared for how good the food would be here. The Deluxe Breakfast Sandwich was honestly one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. The avocado, runny eggs, blackened bacon, red onion, and melted cheese was a sublime combo. Even the tater tots were perfect. Washed it all down with some mimosas for the perfect brunch.
I’ve been to The Wheelhouse a couple of times, and it has yet to disappoint. This was the first time I’ve remembered to take a picture of my food before indulging. Also my first time trying their breakfast, and the deluxe breakfast sandwich was amazing. Price, service, and atmosphere is always fantastic.
Love this place. One of my absolute favorites in bushwick. They have such good options for lunch. They have a brand new menu with even more options to choose from. I got fish tacos which were so good. You can’t go wrong with their sandwiches. This is what they are known for. The pulled pork is a favorite. Their max and cheese is soooo good. Highly recommend checking this place out.
I come here about once a month, and they never let me down. My go-to is the Braised Short Rib sandwich and a large tomato soup. I actually dined in for the 1st time, and it was a pleasant experience. I've always gotten my food to go, but today I had some time and ate in. Great food, great service, and very filling. Thank you.
This place ROCKS. Seriously, maybe the best cubano I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is very inviting and the staff are so nice and friendly. I’m very glad to have happened upon the place and highly recommend any of their sandwiches. I will say the tomato basil soup was a little lackluster, but that probably has more to do with my own preference for saltier soups. I’m sure most wouldn’t have that same thought.
Cool staff and tasty sandwiches. I recommend the build your own grilled cheese. I will say that the decor is laid back and nice and the drinks are a bit lacking. I had the eggnog and it was very watery but the grilled cheese was amazing! It’s totally worth a try if you’re around and want a solid sandwich!
We were in the area and wanted a tasty bite. This place did not disappoint with flavor! The Mac & cheese was hearty, filling and flavorful. The short rib sandwich was great! Sourdough bread was toasted perfectly and the bite was very satisfying and in-tact for such a bustling sandwich! Pro-tip: dip the sandwich in the tomato soup and you’ll be in flavor-bliss. The service was ok but could’ve been better.
At the grill it depends on who is making your sandwich. New young guy gets it wrong every time so i try to be very specific and explicit ordering “regular turkey NOT honey turkey” get home to open my sandwich and find its honey. This has happened multiple times. He was talking on his phone and watching tiktoks at the same time. Roommate asked for pickles, we watched him put jalepenos on instead. It shouldnt be this hard to get what you order.
Depends who's there. All I know is I'd really like to give a nice Will Smith slap to a certain register guy there. The old guy who makes the sandwiches is descent but you should definitely stay and watch your food being made.
They make it however they make it. "No meat" evidently means a lot of salt, wrong cheese and no condiments you ordered. ( ...🤔 Probably, a boomer run business.) Also charged 8 dollars for ice cream that is priced $3.49. They 100% don't care about your business as it's next to the foot patrol cop shop and a bus stop so always busy, these reviews mean nothing to them.
I got the grass fed burger. I called the restaurant directly because I live close and was paying cash. They didn't ask how I wanted it cooked and I didn't specify. I like my burger a little pink on the inside and it was fine where it was cut in half but as i got to the end it started to get more rare. I can't finish it because im so turned off. The flavor and toppings are really good and I enjoyed it up until I saw it was completely raw on inside
If I could give a worse review I would. I ordered a Caesar salad wrap and got chicken with honey mustard instead. Went in to ask them to remake it with the correct recipe and they just yelled at me and argued back, providing no solution. Never going back again, especially knowing about their unhygienic practices.
Unhygienic. As I’m writing this review my roommate is puking from a sub he got at this poopy deli (godfather sandwich). Avoid at all costs if you value your health.
Bought Juul device in the store but it is not working at all and I want to get exchanged but they telling me I can’t, never ever buy juul in this store when I ask them what should I do about it they telling me throw away i will report this place to 311,if u don’t want to waste your money don’t ever buy anything there, they need inspection there.
I live across the street and used to love the people who worked here. Apparently they got new management, fired all the amazing workers, and hired new horrible ones. I never go here anymore considering the few times I have they have tried to over charge me in a sly way. I would ask prices on everything before buying, they charged me around $4 for a grilled cheese the other day. On top of that the main 2 guys that are always working there these days are off putting. Definitely would choose the deli on suydam and Wilson - good people and honest prices.
Unhygenic cooking station, weird employees (one of them asked to use my zelle for their own money transfer, "i can give you the cash" he said????????). The two closest options in terms of delis have nicer/less creepy employees and are way cleaner, go to either one of those instead.
Crooked business. No prices listed on anything, entirely determined by which cashier is working. Used to go here daily but they’ve tried to rip me off too many times. Go literally anywhere else in the area.
Pay attention to the unhygienic reviews because they lack food safety measures here, and I would not trust any food from this establishment. I ordered mozzarella sticks, and to my surprise when I got home and took a bite, they were spoiled. The cheese was rock hard and dark yellow, I don’t even want to know the level of spoilage that they were at. Now for incident 2, cause I knew I wouldn’t be trying food from here again, but decided to grab a coffee thinking that can’t go wrong… surprise surprise, there was a roach on the machine. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have mice either seeing as they keep their doors open often, in a clearly rodent infested neighborhood. If you’re serving spoiled dairy products, I can only imagine the meat is bad too. Save yourself from the stomach virus and eat elsewhere.
Do not go here. Especially at night. They will purposefully over charge when paying with card and give wildly incorrect cash change when they think you are not paying attention. They yell when confronted and are outright robbing people over unhygienic food. There are many other delis in the neighborhood that can accommodate Do not spend your money here.
I been here 3 times !! One time the deli OLD DUDE so disrespectful and yelling at me! Second time , me asking for a sandwich he yelled at me NOT ON THE MENU !! 3rd time he het got mad at me for asking mayo !! It’s always the same story
Got some sliced cheese. The owner appeared from behind the counter with greasy hands and asked me with a huge attitude, "What is this?!" I told him it was sliced cheddar and he said $4. I gave him my $5. He just disappeared behind the counter and yelled "Thank you!" without giving me the change! A lot of people around the neighborhood has complained about different problems every time they walk in. The male owner is usually very rude. They do have a good sandwich menu but I'm not going through the trouble to see these people again. There are other better places around the neighborhood.
Horrible service. The man behind the counter yelled at me “what do you want?? What do you want??” while I had been looking at the menu and had said “hi, one moment I’m just looking” and I’d love to say this is the first time but I live around the corner and this is every time.
Overcharged me for items multiple times but $3.50 for a stick of chapstick is insane!
We really loved this place. We live across the street so we come pretty often. We ordered the corn nuggets, which were $9 on the menu. We thought about getting two but decided to start with one. They came out and were really good. Later one of us was still hungry so she ordered a second order. When the bill came, we saw we were charged $15 each for the corn nuggets. When we asked, they said that because we were a group of four they “sized up” the order without telling us, even though that size and price aren’t listed anywhere. The second order was just for one person, so it should’ve been the $9 size, but we had no idea they were charging us more. On top of that, there were fruit flies floating in the water that we didn’t notice until the end, and we ordered chicken on one of our sandwiches but it never came. We’re all students, so the unexpected charges plus those mistakes were a lot. We’ve always liked this place, but after this visit we honestly wouldn’t come back.
