Great food, friendly staff. The decor really makes you feel like you're in a tavern. There was no music or TV going and it was nice to use the time for actual conversation.
Lots of parking nearby, never a wait for a table. Food is authentic, hot, delicious and served with genuine Texas hospitality. Yummy deserts and quick service.
Great tasting German food! Pork snitzel was definitely a must! Kinda made me wish I tried the veal!
Good food, and being from Houston we're snobby about that. Service and atmosphere were also quite nice. Will seek this place out next time we're in town.
Absolutely loved my experience dining here! I was traveling thru Texas and stopped here on a whim. I knew immediately it was a great choice - the atmosphere was Bavarian perfect, the smell of the food incredible, and the 2 piece band was playing an accordion. My meal was so good I wanted to order another to go for in the morning! AND THE BEER! The beer was delicious! The highlight was when the band assembled an Alphorn and played a beautiful solo piece to a completely silent and entranced audience. I can't wait to go back!
Good food worth the wait. Wished they were open on the weekends for lunch so I could take my visiting family here for some quality food. We love this place!
One of my favorite restaurants in B/CS! The food is always fantastic and is a great price compared to most other sit-down restaurants. Everytime I get a schnitzel with fries, and they're always amazing! You can't go wrong with the Jagerschnitzel or the schnitzel heaven and hell, the gravies are fantastic. The atmosphere is warm and the service welcoming, a great spot for family and friends going out to eat. I've been going semi-regularly for the past few years, and most of the staff are still the same wonderful people. My family and I are always excited to hear what the bread pudding of the week is, and the gal who makes them is so talented! This place feels like such a local secret, more people need to be in-the-know. I can't recommend Brauhaus enough! 🤌
Our journey to Bavarian Brauhaus in Bryan, TX was a culinary odyssey like no other. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were transported to the enchanting world of Bavarian cuisine and culture. The sausage sampler appetizer was a tantalizing prelude to the feast that awaited us, with each succulent bite a symphony of flavors that danced on our taste buds. For the main course, I indulged in the sublime pork JagerSchnitzel, a dish so exquisitely prepared that it felt like a gastronomic revelation. My wife, on the other hand, delighted in the delectable chicken Szegediner Schnitzel, savoring every morsel with pure culinary bliss. Each dish was a masterpiece, a true testament to the skill and passion of the chefs at Bavarian Brauhaus. But it wasn't just the food that left us in awe—it was the entire experience. The ambiance was charming and authentic, the service impeccable and attentive. Every detail was thoughtfully curated to transport us to the heart of a Bavarian Oktoberfest, where good food, good company, and good times reign supreme. Bavarian Brauhaus is not just a restaurant—it's an experience, a journey for the senses that leaves a lasting impression. If you're looking for a dining adventure like no other, look no further than Bavarian Brauhaus in Bryan. It's a culinary gem that will leave you craving for more, a must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates the art of fine dining. Prost to Bavarian Brauhaus, a true culinary treasure in the heart of Texas!
We are extremely grateful for the service as we celebrated my brother’s birthday. Sergio was patient, attentive and helpful. The food was great and atmosphere was wonderful!!!
3/25/22. Christina is absolutely wonderful!! She worked her butt off the entire time we were here and did a fantastic job taking care of us!!! We came here several years ago - pre covid- on a whim and loved it so much, we took a detour on our to Galveston just to have dinner! Thursday nights are Bier and Schintzel night. They have multiple versions of schnitzel- chicken, pork, and veal and can be plain or have several different flavored gravies. We both had veal - very tender and perfectly cooked. Side options are spatzel, potatoes, coleslaw and fries. For dessert, they have 3 different versions of crepes, a donut bread pudding and a fantastic death by chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Definitely the place for amazing German cuisine!! We will be back again!!! OMG!!! Awesome place with AMAZING food!! I had the Weinersnchitzel(veal), spaetzle, cabbage and shredded carrots. My husband got the Jagerschnitzel with the same sides. We finished our plates and then ordered dessert - Double chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and chocolate drizzle and cinnamon sugar crepes with whipped cream and cinnamon sugar sauce. Expect to wait for a seat, esp on the weekend. They have 2 large dining areas and we lucky to find a corner table for the 2 of us. Located in downtown Bryan, Tx so go early and enjoy walking around and shopping. Definately eill be returning when we are in town again!!!
Delightful! I enjoyed the food and the service was excellent! I had Bacon wrapped pork fillet that was very tasty. My friends enjoyed the Schnitzel Heaven and Hell and the Barvarian Sampler, both very good. I enjoyed the Pilsner Urquell beer with my meal. I’ll be sure and come again to enjoy the great atmosphere here And the great service provided by our waiter.
Good German comfort food and even better on Monday evenings when they have an all you can eat option. Nice variety of sauce options for schnitzel and imported German beers. Ambiance is also nice and reminiscent of a small country restaurant. Only complaint is that service can be slow at times during the busier parts of dinner service.
Been awhile since i've been here but if it's the same as it used to be, it's still the best German food I've ever had in TX. The leek soup is one of my favorite soups ever.
Fantastic schnitzel, beer, and other authentic German delicacies. The excellent service is very welcoming and helpful. Great ambiance with large tables and booths in a spacious dining room. The menu has nice selections ranging from schnitzel to bratwurst and hefeweizen to doppelbock. There are also some nice dessert selections including crepes with various fillings to choose from. Sides include spatzle, sauerkraut, potato salad and other German specialties. Appetizers range from a German sausage sampler to Bavarian pretzels. Very convenient, free parking on the street. If you fancy Irish libations, the adjacent sister establishment has a dozen draft beers to choose from, including Guiness.

Culinary Esquire - The B/CS Food Critic FIRST IMPRESSION: First let me tell you, it's not a bar, it's a restaurant. Walking in is like crossing through time into a ren fest periodic atmosphere. There's no waiting to be seated, you can seat yourself and nearly all the tables are roomy enough to seat larger parties. It was well lit, which I appreciated so I can see the food I'm being served. It was busy but that didn't impact the level of service. COURTESY: Pretzel pieces with mustard were brought to our table as we looked over the menu. Our server however kept forgetting to bring it to us initially. DRINKS: There is a large selection of beers to choose from and they even offer light beer which is a half and half mix of beer and sprite, coke, etc. I was highly impressed with the fact that the drink ware was period appropriate and you could even pay extra to be able to take the glass home with you. APPETIZER: We started off by ordering the Bavarian Sampler with lightly battered pork nuggets (more like strips), meat balls (in a flavorful brown gravy sauce - not like the brown gravy packets/mix from the grocery store), onion rings, homemade potato salad (base is mostly a mustard flavor), garnished with pickled carrots and red cabbage. MEAL: For the meal, I ordered the veal Schnitzel Heaven and Hell which was very tasty with both a cream sauce (similar to an alfredo if I had to compare it to something) and a spicy paprika sauce (tasted something like a hot dog chili but it worked). In the future, I would have the sauce served on the side so that it doesn't make the schnitzel soggy. It was served with spatzle (Bavarian noodles - didn't seem to be made to order) and garnished with the pickled carrots and red cabbage. In addition, I ordered a side of fries which were garnished nicely, adding a bit of color. We saw potato wedges come out of the kitchen and although we didn't order any, they looked delicious. We also found out that on Mondays they have all you can eat schnitzel for about $14. DESSERT: Another thing we saw come out of the kitchen looked so good that we had to stop the server to ask about it. It was an off menu special that they called Bavarian Cream. It was a simple dish, just a white fluffy mound of what looked like cool whip, topped with a berry drizzle mash. The taste was nothing like cool whip, it was better! It was a creamy, melt in your mouth cream that wasn't too sweet and yet so flavorful. The berry drizzle mash seemed to have raspberries, strawberry's and blueberries in it and was the perfect compliment of flavors. Easily the best dessert I've had from any restaurant. Upon talking more to our server about it we found out that the reason it's a special and not always on the menu is because the ingredients used to make it are imported. This was pretty impressive. OVERALL: We will definitely be going back. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, even with our endless questions. The food was great and while it's hard to say what my favorite was, the dessert really stole the show! 5* Atmosphere (memorable) 5* Price (worth it) 4* Food (taste, quality, freshness, flavor and distinctness) 4* Service (everyone was nice, not just our server but others also) 5* Critics Choice (we would come again) 23* OVERALL GAMBLE OUTCOME: WIN We always say that trying new places is like a gamble, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. This was definitely a win! ABOUT THIS RATING: To give our rating the most objective weight we use 5 areas to score the restaurant: atmosphere, price, food, service and critic's choice. The maximum score in each area is 5 stars for a possible total score of 25 stars. Because Google uses a 5 star rating system we then divide our total score by 5. Therefore, 21-25 stars = 5 stars 16-20 stars = 4 stars 11-15 stars = 3 stars 6-10 stars = 2 stars 1-5 stars = 1 star
LOVED THIS PLACE! We were having a night on the town since there were Christmas lights up and downtown was decorated! We decided to give this place a try and it was definitely a great choice! The atmosphere of this place is astounding and the woodworking on the interior is even more elegant! The whole table ordered Hungarian Goulash and we were beyond impressed! The roast beef was cooked perfectly and laid over the right amount of homemade mashed potatoes and served with buttered vegetables! Definitely would recommend coming to this neat place! SECOND TIME GOING AND SAME TAKE AWAYS! Tried something different this time because it was Schnitzel Thursday! I got the Munich schnitzel and it was amazing! It was served with a potato salad and it was also amazing! Still recommend giving this place a visit!
Excellent German food here. I had bratwurst, sour kraut, potato salad, and spaztle. The schnitzel was great also. Great beer and full bar next door if you need a cocktail. The service was just fine we had no issues and the food came out fast. We were there on a Monday night and it was fairly busy but still no issues whatsoever.
Amazing food and even better beer. Wonderful and friendly waitstaff. They're often times a little bit slow because of how much attention they give to their customers, but you're never disappointed. I highly recommend this place.
Good food, loud and busy but we were there on a Saturday night so what could you expect?! Service was a bit slow, but I attribute this to the busy-ness and popularity of the place and over all not a turn off. I had the jagerschnitzel, which was top notch. Also loved the spatzle, if it had been kasespatzle would have been even better! Overall, highly recommend and this was the second time I've been here on a 5-week business trip.
This is definitely a top 5 place in my opinion for restaurants in Bryan/College Station. Good German food, favorite being the Jagerschnitzel and Spätzle. Beer is also very good and honestly pretty cheap especially for the liter beers coming in at only $15. Atmosphere is usually pretty quiet which is nice. We have been probably close to a dozen times and never had a bad experience. Love this local place.
Great place if you want to take a short trip to Germany. My mom loves German food and said this was great. The kids enjoyed it as well.
This place is great! The ambiance is perfect. The food came out surprisingly fast, and the schnitzel was so good. I returned for another round. And WOW! It was even better than the last time. This time I asked my server, Morgan, for input. I totally should have done that before. She was spot on! This place is an absolute golden find. I only wish I lived closer so that I could come here more often. Without a doubt, I will return EVERY time I'm in town.
I want to be a regular. I want to come back on my birthday. I need that cottage pie everyday for lunch. Just wow 👌 Such a great place with amazing service too!
**Rating: ★★★★★** We had a fantastic dining experience at Bavarian Brauhau! We were recommended by a friend who was right when she mentioned how delicious everything was. The meal started with an amazing leek soup that was rich, creamy, and full of flavor—truly a perfect starter. If I could describe it poetically, it felt like a warm hug! Next up was the Bavarian sampler, which gave us a delightful variety of traditional German dishes, each one more delicious than the last. The schnitzel was cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, making it a standout on the menu. Lastly, the bread pudding was to die for! It was so wonderfully textured and sweet that I dream of it even a week later. The restaurant has a cozy and authentic Bavarian atmosphere that adds to the overall charm. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed for an enjoyable meal. If you're in the area and craving some authentic German cuisine, Bavarian Brauhaus is a must-visit! Next time I come out to visit my friend, I’m coming straight back!
Schnitzel is apparently their specialty. With a full menu page dedicated to schnitzels, they have many different style options, each with pork, chicken, or veal. Their hot (warm) German potato salad was also very good and nothing like American potato salad. Don't expect a fast meal, at least during the summer off-season. I would expect more waitstaff and faster service when Texas A&M is in session. Either way, I strongly recommend the food. And of course, don't forget the on-draft beer selection.
Love their bottomless schnitzel monday. Fyi, their order cutoff time is 8:15 pm, so come early. I like their jaeger gravy with pork schnitzel. If you get the one with fried egg, I believe it's an extra dollar. All of their sides are great as well, especially the pickled cabbage and carrots if they have it.
The German food und bier is amazing. I have gone here years ago and still the best German restaurant. I had the Jägerschnitzel with the mushroom gravy and an amazing bier. The Hofbrau Original Bier is the best and one heckuva thirst quencher on a heiß (hot) Texan day!
This place is delicious, beautiful, and authentic. Staff is awesome! If and when I am back in the area... I will eat here again. In fact, I will be here for a few weeks, and I am sure I will be back in the next few days for food and a tasty Bavarian beer. They have quite a selection.
Enjoyed visiting this place. The atmosphere was really good and the service amazing! There was some service delay, but that was primarily due to only two waiters being at work. Still wouldn't let this take away from the restaurant and I think it totally deserves 5 stars all around.
This place is fantastic! Most recent visit, we got the bottomless schnitzel. The first serving was discounted & each reorder was only $4! Great selection of German beers as well. One note: Check your bill, as the pricing on ours was not what was listed on the menu, but was addressed & corrected.

We had a wonderful time here and it was so nice to get ACTUAL SCHNITZEL, not some overpriced theme park garbage. It is very authentic, so be prepared for a lot of vinegar in items you wouldn't expect it in with normal American food. We got the sausage sampler, which admittedly seemed to come with many more potatoes than sausage, but still presented very delicious and unique savory flavors across the 3 sausages given. We both ordered the pork weiner schnitzel, mine with bratkarttofeln and my husband had spatzle. The schnitzel itself was kind of plain, which is to be expected when many other options come with a gravy. We eat our with lots of lemon, which was provided at request. The spatzle and bratkarttofeln was THE BOMB! I would almost come back just for those 2 alone! We happened to be there when their liter steins were all $10 so we definitely took advantage of that. It was nice having pilsner urquell on tap again. My husband really wanted the hofbrau, but they were out so he settled for the helles instead. They also serve plenty of Irish food considering they share an open wall with the Irish pub next door. I would love to come back and try more of their food options should I find myself in the area again. The waitress was super nice and the area was very clean and spacious. Being that my husband is from Germany, he said this was the closest to home he's felt in a very long time.
Absolutely loved this place, especially the atmosphere which is a great call back to original Germany. Had the greatest schnitzel I've ever had in my life and I have eaten it in Germany. The only negative is they do not have German red cabbage or potato balls which I thought were complete staples and couldn't believe they didn't have it but still a five-star experience. I will definitely go back!
Absolutely amazing! Our server Morgan was so attentive and pleasant! The food was some of the best we've ever had. Delicious, fun, amazing atmosphere.
I spent a few years in Germany in the service. It is very rare to find anything close to actual Germain food in the states. This is the real deal, the Rahm sauce is not exactly what I get in Germany but the Schnitzel is spit on and the sauce is close enough. Next time I will go with the Jager version. All the sides were great, the service was friendly and the place had a lively qnd friendly crowd. I cant wait to visit again when we are back in town !

Bavarian pretzels are not worth it. Way better pretzels other places. But their schnitzels are delicious! The pasta side had more of a mild flavor which complimented the meat which had a bolder flavor, and their coleslaw was great (and I'm usually not a fan of coleslaw). I would go back for the schnitzels!
Good drinks, big portions, fair prices. Nothing fancy, but a reliable spot for hearty German food in Bryan. Quiet and comfortable inside with classic Bavarian tavern decor. Got the veal, tasty and well-breaded... Spaetzle and potato salad were solid sides. Service was quick and friendly. Our waitress even gave us pretzels to-go as they closed, which was a really nice touch.
Ate here for the first time taking my dad out for his birthday. Our group of 5 had a great time. Atmosphere gets an A+ for injecting some of the spirit of Bavarian beer halls and restaurants via the ceiling wood, booth/bench seating, and decorations. Staff was A+ friendly across the board. Felt very welcome and had excellent service. On the food side, they are close to getting it right. Several of us had schnitzel in various forms. It tasted good, but in all cases was a little over-cooked and could use a bit of seasoning. Salad was very good. My mom had the goulash, which was served in a different form than we've ever seen, with all parts separate on a plate, but she liked it very much. We lived in Germany and Austria for several of my dad's Air Force assignments, as well as my own, and we've eaten a lot of German/Austrian food. This is one of the closer attempts at getting it right. Our understanding is the owner is actually German. If he reads these reviews, recommend he get with his staff on the food seasoning and schnitzel cooking times, but otherwise this is a great place and a good alternative to other choices in Bryan-College Station. It also has the bonus of being connected to the Irish pub next door, also with the right feel. Very nice to see these locations getting the business they deserve and helping with the revitalization of downtown Bryan!

First time dining here. Huge portions and tasty food. Service slow, but it was a Thursday night.
We enjoyed the atmosphere, music and service at this German restaurant. We were celebrating our anniversary and had a wonderful time. We wish they had sauerbraten and cabbage rolls on their menu. I ordered the heaven and hell schnitzel and it’s supposed to be veal, which is very tender but mine was not-it was tough and even though they said it was real I’m not sure it was – other than that, all was great!
Most items where not available, portion to small growing up in Germany we know what should be expected. Atleast have your spaetzle right even normal buttered could be better. Jaeger sauce not good or even authentic. Could have gotten from aldi knorr mixture and have more authentic. It’s nice that they are trying but this failed the mark by far. As recommendations for something more german like bakery goto harker heights tx pfeifers bakery.
Stood there waiting to be seated for about 10 minutes, right when I was thinking I should just go somewhere else, a customer who was eating said I should just go sit down as there were plenty of open tables. Server walked past multiple times without acknowledging me or bringing me a menu so I pulled it up on my phone. Eventually she comes by and I ask for the chicken jagerschnitzel. The food actually came out quick, but was disappointed again when I realized she brought me pork. I don't normally like pork, but at this point I was so hungry I ate it anyways. Spaetzel was good though.
I went here one time back around 2020 or so and I threw up on the curb afterwards. 😭 Y'all, I don't even drink. I think German food just doesn't sit right with me because there's all that sour stuff that's hard for my stomach to process? Honestly, I have no idea.
Lots of standing waiting to be seated. Lots of sitting with closed menus, no drinks, etc. These are recurring complaints that can be overlooked with consistent food. However, tonight was the 3rd time we went for the fish n chips and were told they didn't have them. First time, they ran out. 2nd time they were "switching vendors" for the beer batter (WHAT? THE BATTER ISN'T MADE IN-HOUSE???). Now, we got some bizarre "First Friday" menu story. Apparently, they implemented such a thing to avoid--and I quote the server--the "chaos." So, taking what is a clear draw and huge product off the menu on the busiest night of the month is the savvy decision? I used to play "restaurant" when I would spend the night at my grandma's... Applying the "3 strikes out" rule leaves few solid options in Downtown Bryan.
This place has good food, but the last two times I have been there they didn't have tables and instead of making a wait list they told me to leave or go to their bar. I'm tired of driving to Bryan to eat here and having them turn me away. Either arrive at four or clock or don't bother.
