I was so excited to hear about the reopening of one of my favorite restaurants - and let me tell you, the new owners did not disappoint! The food is delicious, their breadsticks are chef's kiss - dip them in alfredo sauce. Their beef cannelloni was my go-to for the longest time, until I tried the build your own fritella. Their pizzas are great too if you love thin crust. I personally preferred when you ordered at the front and then chose a place to sit, but I'm sure I'm in the minority there. The owner's are super nice and I've enjoyed the waitstaff as well. Definitely a must try!
I just HAD to give a review of this place after eating here tonight. If I could give above 5 stars I would because the service and the food out did any expectations I could have of the food. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place because we were looking for a decently priced Italian spot that was a small business that we could try out. Walking in I could tell this would be amazing just because of the small cozy vibe this place gave. I decided to order the lasagna/cannelloni and my boyfriend ordered the chicken Alfredo. The moment I tasted my dish I knew I had just found my new favorite local spot and my boyfriend raved about how this was the best homemade pasta he’s ever had. Also if it is any constellation to anyone my boyfriend is not a red sauce fan at all (even gets white sauce on pizza) and was raving about their house made marinara sauce (which I cannot recommend ENOUGH). Ryan, our server, was great and very welcoming. We also got to meet Tracy, who will now be seeing us every week, and he was such a pleasure to talk to and I am so glad he took over this restaurant with his welcoming personality. Now for the real important part, dessert, Tracy told us to try the cheesecake (and after the amazing food we knew to trust him) and man oh man this was AMAZING!!! Rich in flavor but still nice and light. I hope everyone comes and sees how amazing this place is and I will recommended it to anyone and everyone.
Second verse, same as the first. Had lunch with a dear friend to share some time together. Great place.
Food was great! Not overly seasoned or decorative, let the flavors stand out for themselves. Yum! The host stand is on one side and there are entrances on both so it's kind of confusing. Watching the servers try to fit the big trays of food through the tiny kitchen doorway was a little comical.
I visited Frittella with a large party (40+) and Michael and Rosa did a phenomenal job taking care of us. Michael took care of my table group and provided excellent service. He got all of our orders right and made sure our drinks were properly refilled. 10/10
Fantastic food. Best cheesecake ever! We love the eggplant parm.
I ordered take out of cannelloni and manicotti combo along with a salad and bruschetta. The salad was so fresh and the lettuce was not the bitter white core leaves, it was was the crispy greens and was enough for 2 people. The cannelloni and manicotti was so good and not bland at all as mentioned in another review. The pasta was so light and thin and I was not chewing hard rubbery pasta. The bruschetta was absolutely amazing!! The service was excellent and kudos to the chefs!! Tonight, I'm ordering the BYO pizza. Frittella's please don't disappoint me!!
Great authentic Southern Italian food , just like Mama used to make in Italy. The best marinara sauce! (If the sauce is good, that means everything else follows suit!)
This was a pick up order. For that reason, it doesn’t seem appropriate that I was charged $3 for a tip.
Excellent service. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. 2nd visit this week. 3rd for my date. Lasagna is the best in town. House cab pairs well with most of the menu and is very reasonably priced.
I’m not sure how people can complain about portion size as a function of price, here. That’s a healthy portion of great tasting chicken parm with the side of pasta in that picture. An order of breadsticks came heaped on a plate. The atmosphere is very nice, too with a cozy fireplace. Will definitely be coming back to try a frittella. They’re about the size of a calzone for those who may be wondering.
I live in Austin and ordered this to be delivered. The order showed up so quick and the dry ice kept it frozen safely for cooking later. My family got the lasagna, meatballs, manicotti, and cheesecake, and wow, just fantastic. The ricotta cheese is so creamy and the sauce was rich. Don’t even get me started on the cheesecake, absolutely top notch. I’m not usually a leftover guy (I try to make something new every night) but I will say I lived in the lasagna for about a week straight and never got tired of it. Will definitely order again and try any and everything else they have.
Pizza is thin crust and I prefer thick and chewy crust, but flavor was good. Service was quick and very friendly.
Exceptional lunch - salad bar was super fresh and shrimp Alfredo was unbelievably flavorful…the pasta even had a lot of sauce which I love!!!
Frittella’s is amazing! We came here with 8 people and everyone tried everyone’s food because we all were going “omg this is so good!” Literally the best calamari I’ve ever had! The breadsticks were amazing. The mixed drinks were amazing. Everyone ordered different plate and everything was incredible! We ended up getting three different deserts too and wouldn’t ya know it? They were all amazing! We had the tiramisu, cheesecake and desert breadsticks and they were all great! My biggest regret is this is the first time I’ve eaten here
Hidden gem without the college crowd. Lasagna is awesome as well as the breadsticks. Very different than anywhere else. A must order
Best Italian food in BCS! Literally everything our group ordered was fantastic. Bread sticks were to die for. Cannot rate this high enough.
This place is a gem. Food was phenomenal. Dessert too. Add in great service a.d I will be coming back for sure.
I like Frittella. It is a mom and pop restaurant on texas avenue that it looks like in was brought in this era from the 1940s. Everybody is very nice and gentle and food is authentic Italian! We will repeat. Don't forget to order the garlic bread!
The food was excellent. Very tasty!!! The side salad was amazing!
Friendly, quick service. Superb Spaghetti and meatballs, with the best rolls!! Thanks for the pleasant atmosphere.
Have been coming here for years and years since I was about 7 years old and now I'm 31 it's still just as good and will always be one of my faves
Took a larger group and the service met our demands. The food was delicious. Highly recommend!
GREAT Italian food! What a gem. Owner was super-friendly, wait staff was terrific, and the food was incredible. My wife and I split a capresé salad and a cannelloni and lasagna combo. Plenary of food for both of us. Also, dinner rolls are complimentary, but pass on those and order the breadsticks. Very unique, and also delicious.
Picked up dinner and as always it was great. Best lasagna on the planet, it never disappoints.
Best place I've tried so far in BCS. Food was great. Service was great. Ambience was pretty nice. Definitely coming here again. Has good vegetarian options. Highly recommend the Eggplant Parmesan. Cheesecake and Tiramisu were lights out too <3 Aggies, do show your ID card. There's occasionally some offers available (be sure to look at the Ads in our Campus buses) Good restroom and disabled friendly too.
They have the most fabulous Italian food anywhere! They make all their own dough, and it is amazing! They make béchamel sauce for their lasagna, and they make their own marinara sauce, which is delicious beyond description! The flavor is exquisite! Everything is homemade! You have to try it
Outstanding food, polite/professional staff, easy pick-up. Highly recommend.
Met with a mom's group for lunch today at Fritella's and it was great! We arrived around 11:30 and there was plenty of seating. We could've ordered at the counter, but opted for table service. We got Jatavia as our server. She was very friendly and asked us questions about our families and what we were up to. She helped us order. I got a Coke Zero, Spaghetti, and the breadsticks. I came for the breadsticks, actually (they're fried and so tasty). I highly recommend going to Fritellas, and maybe you'll get in Jatavia's section. She even boxed up a slice of cheesecake for me so I can enjoy it later!
I have decided for you...Yes, you should eat here! The food here is wonderful. The service is great. The prices are reasonable. Enjoy and thank me later.
1st time coming and did not disappoint.order meatball appetizers.so so good.plus my wife order lasagna.and I order the combination cannelloni and lasagna.service was on point Shirley did an outstanding job.
Frills NEVER lets us down. Same great food served the same way every time. Hot and Delicious!! They are my go to for local Italian food.
Talk about an amazing experience, I travel for work and someone local recommended eating here and I’m so glad I did! Couldn’t recommend this place enough. By far the best Italian food I’ve ever had. The chicken Nozze and cheesecake were both SO delicious! The staff was so friendly and welcoming, and even the owner Tony came out and spoke with me! Such a great spot to go to!
Tried this place a long time ago and tried it again tonight after it was recommended to us. Lasagna, manicotti, and espresso martini were excellent and my husband and I are picky when it comes to Italian food as he is Italian. 😅😂 Haley was a great server. Service was a bit slow but it was packed restaurant with only 3 servers who were constantly moving. Worth the wait, we will be back!
I was feeling homesick and had to get my Frittella fix. Thankfully they deliver! Had my favorites mailed to me in Colorado. Fair price and fast shipping. My shipment arrived perfectly. Everything was packaged neatly and arrived still frozen. I baked off the lasagna today. Perfection. Just like I remembered. I can’t wait to dig in to my cheesecake! Thank you Frittella! Love you guys
I had a Wow! Experience here. This is an amazing and truly authentic Italian restaurants with South Italian peculiar food culture. It is a family owned and family run business. They make everything from scratch and make it to perfection in terms of taste, bite and appearance. The service is to the accepted standard and the staffs are friendly. They have spacious and beautifully dexorated dining halls. They serve variety of soups, salads, Frittella, pasta, pizza, and desserts. They also have varieties of wine and beer. They have soda drinks and Italian espresso coffee. I had chicken-vegetable soup and beef Frittella. It was amazing. The lazagna is also good. They have my favorite Italian dessert, Tiramisu. I am definitely coming back here to explore other dishes this place has to offer.
I almost never leave reviews of places but I HAVE to leave a review for this restaurant. Everything was amazing. Food, server, everything. I'm from out of state and will be back in Texas in November. I'm 100% stopping in to get a fritella and some calamari! Delicious!
Local Italian restaurant with authentic recipes and the feel of Italy inside. Ice cold beer and limited wine selection. Homemade Fritellas were the best, breadsticks awesome, and the cannelloni was delicious! Highly recommend this place if you love Italian food. They have a drive thru making it easy to pick up to-go orders.
My favorite Italian place in the area 😍 The sauce is perfect, the BREAD 🤌 and good, proper bread is hard to come by. The ratios of cheese, sauce, bread is on point. The tiramisu is pretty good, not the best I've had but hits the spot when I crave it! I do wish you guys had an online order option! Place an order online through you to pickup without calling would be most excellent but isn't the worst. I do so love this place!
We tried the Chicken Nozze, Lasagna Siciliana, and Ravioli Fritta. The Ravioli Fritta really was mind blowing. The Chicken Nozze and Ravioli were also great. The portions were generous, and the ambiance was pleasant. The staff was incredibly helpful in guiding us through our first time trying this cuisine. We highly recommend it!
Update: came to eat here the Friday before Valentine’s Day and Grace was amazing AGAIN. Everyone was hustling and still providing great service. Our meal was so good! Grace was our waitress tonight and she was so sweet!!
Their chicken nozze is legitimately my favorite meal. Not just Italian or in town, it’s my favorite meal in general! My wife and I order it to go and it is amazing. It is also a lot of food, we usually get 2 full meals out of it.
My order was to go so I didn’t rate the atmosphere. The food was delicious and just as expected. So the order was filled correctly and ready before the time promised. The restaurant associate was friendly and I left feeling like a valued customer. I had the baked ziti and a caprese salad.
We love Frittella's! Of course, we do have our favorites, but everything is well prepared and tasty. We didn't eat in this time, but when we do, the service is always great, too.
We ate here a month or two ago and really enjoyed it. I had a Frittella (fried Calzone) and liked it. Tonight I was looking for a take-out place near A&M and found their Monday/Tuesday special on Frittella's - $5! No kidding, full size Frittella's for $5! These are delicious. We had a cheese and a pepperoni. They lose their crispness on the half-hour drive home but next time I will toss them in the air fryer for a few minutes. This must be the best food for $5 in town. Did I mention tasty food for ONLY $5? Next time I'll pick up a few extra and freeze them.
They processed a massive catering order in a timely manner, same day. It was affordable, DELICIOUS, with the best service! We forgot a tray and they delivered it to our address, personally. They did a great job. Highly recommend supporting this local eatery!
i walk by here often and have always wanted to try it, and finally did last monday! we were a group of 3 (my boyfriend, me, and a friend.) there was alot of tables open so we were able to have a booth, and our server was very kind. i was so excited to try something new and didnt regret it at all. the food here is very well priced for the portions and quality and the experience is comfortable & fun. the restaurant was decorated nicely, which contributed to a positive atmosphere. we will most definitely be back, cant wait to try more new dishes!
Great place to eat. Very friendly service, and a clean establishment. The unlimited salad bar was great with a ton of value. Not to mention the other items on the menu. Everything was exciting. Additionally, their cheesecake was awesome. Very well done. We will definitely be back!
Picture it: Friday night date night, 2024. We have a wonderful baby sitter watching our child. We decide to go to Frittellas in Bryan. The hostess, was super friendly, our waitress, Kaylin, very knowledgeable and everything you’d want in a waitress. She was seriously awesome and I’d ask to be in her section every time. What SOLD the evening was Tracy. He came to our table personally, gave us recommendations and took the time to talk to us. We started with the calamari which was perfectly cooked, perfectly breaded and was so tender you could cut it with a fork. Paired with the lemon they provided, it was delectable. For our main: I had the shrimp carbonara and my husband had the veal Parmesan. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The sauces stuck to the noodles in a way that i can only describe as art. You could tell the noodles were fresh made and they were so perfectly textured. No salt needed, added a little Parmesan, as the waitress recommended (and Tracy), the food came out hot so i knew it was fresh!! Beautiful presentation and delicious fresh flavors. My husbands exact words were “this brings back memories of my grandma.” The wine was crisp and paired nicely with everything we had to eat. Now, the cheesecake, all i can say is, my grandma is about to lose her spot as “best cheesecake I’ve ever had.” The creamy, sweet, perfectly textured delight! The Graham cracker crust was Devine and the sauces on top were perfectly portioned!! We will absolutely be back, can’t wait to bring our family and our son here. This is going to be our date night place.
Go here when youre craving Italian. Everything about this restaurant is amazing! Our waitress Jada was so sweet, the owners also came around and talked to us. They recommended so many delicious things, we'll need to come back for sure! We had the calamari as an appetizer. It was served hot and tasted fresh. The marinara dipping sauce was also fresh and delicious. My entre was the Manicotti, it was fantastic! I would definitely recommend it. My boyfriend got the lasagna and chicken parmeasan combo, he thought that was great. The tiramasu was also wonderful, I took a bite and was in heaven. I want to come back and try the bread sticks and cheesecake, apparently those are some popular choices. It was cool to see the pasta made in house.
Old world Italian recipes. The bread sticks are kind of like beignets covered in Parmesan cheese. Very tasty. The lasagna has fewer noodle layers than most, instead with a thick bechemel layer. Very creamy. Salad bar options of one trip or all you can eat, with super thick Bleu cheese dressing. A large selection at the bar. The only downside was we got our food in reverse order - first lasagna, then salad, then bread sticks.
The food was excellent, and the service matched it. The atmosphere was fine—except for about ten minutes of incessant banging in the kitchen. At first, I thought maybe one of the cooks had been locked out and was trying to get back in. Our server assured us they were “making sausage.” I grew up making German sausage with my family every fall, and I don’t recall anyone using a hammer in the process. But I suppose this being an Italian restaurant, they must have their own way of doing things.
It's a nice place, customer service is great and always helpful. Was my first time but I will back for sure; all the dishes were tasteful, just the stick bread I think is cooked in oil, no baked but, the taste is good. Btw, guys, you just need to adjust some dining tables to prevent "shakes" :p
We visited been here before it had closed down. And we missed coming here. So we came back after the reopening and it was such a great experience. The table service is great and the staff is super friendly. You have to approach the counter to order and then you are directed to a table, where you are greeting by your server. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan and my wife ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce. Unfortunately the spaghetti was a little over cooked. All the entrees came out hot. The atmosphere is nice, with the light music and the background and ambient noise from other patrons. I would recommend this place for sure. Try the bruschetta, the fresh basil makes that dish come together.
I had the lasagna and while it was good it needed more meat in the sauce. The service was great and we lived the atmosphere.
Wanted to try but was a little worried due to some recent reviews. Spoiler alert… I was very pleasantly surprised. Service was very, very good, Rosa was perfect. Atmosphere was fairly casual, but appropriate. Fried cheese was very good, garlic bread was OK. Kids fettuccine Alfredo was large and very creamy, could’ve used a little more salt. The chicken Parmesan was quite good, but the real star was the Lasagna Siciliano; regular lasagna with an added layer of fried eggplant, Yum! Cheesecake was standard but with a surprising and tasty layer of nuts on the bottom. Overall very pleased. Side note: I’m from New Jersey and Italian - I have a good grasp of Italian food.
Came here for the first time with my family. We ordered: Spinach Artichoke Dip w/ Breadsticks: a little bland, but delicious. More spinach than artichoke. The breadsticks has a softer texture and paired with the dip. Pasta Carbonara: tasted ok, nothing special about it. Lasagna/Cannelloni Combination: lasagna was very delicious. Probably one of the best that I’ve ever tasted in my life. The Cannelloni was my first and it too, was very flavorful. Margherita Pizza: I was pretty bummed that it was a thin crust instead of those puffy pizzas. The cheese, sauce, and toppings slipped right off the crust and was very messy to eat so a fork was definitely needed. It does have an awesome flavor though. Chicken Piccata: more lemony than what I’m used to, but still very delicious. Cannoli: I wasn’t a fan of cannolis, but this one was pretty damn delicious. Overall, food was a bit bland, but nothing a little salt and/or Parmesan cheese can’t fix. I would definitely come back to try other popular dishes. Prices are decent for the portion you get. Our waitress, Mia was very friendly and helpful. She recommended all the popular dishes. Lots of tables to dine at and lots of parking. The restaurant is older looking and could use some touch up.
The food came out hot but was bland. There is a severe lack of garlic 🧄 in everything. We had the pizza 🍕 Italian sausage frittella, shrimp 🦐 & vegetables, and lobster ravioli. None of it had any garlic at all.
Didn't like too much the Chicken Alfredo Pasta... not the best Italian taste... sorry guys!
Paid extra to have meat sauce on my spaghetti, but there was none. It even said there was meat sauce on the bag. Scam
Service was great. Marinara and breadsticks were good. Alfredo sauce was absolutely flavorless. And I mean flavorless. Missing garlic, pepper, butter, everything. That was disappointing. Avoid alfredo unfortunately. Other than that, food was decent.
Their breadsticks are delicious as more of a scone. They are sweeter than you would expect as a breadstick. I ate them with honey butter and I will go back just for the breadsticks! Makes me think that their dessert menu is good. I didn't love their pizza nor their sauces. This was my first time there.
Love the music! The food was very average, not served with any bread, very bland. Somewhat like tv dinner quality. I did get up and went to the order window and asked if they had any bread hoping for a garlic bread, they had dinner rolls. I'm not sure what the general idea of the resturant is. Order like fast food, self serve drinks, no ice sweet tea, then sit like a nice dine in resturant. The price dosnt match the food quality. For us, we won't be back. For someone else, it may be just what your looking for. If your looking for a real Italian experience, keep looking!
This was my first time eating here after they reopened, I came in with my family. We had a disabled woman in our party and they accommodated us well with a table instead of a booth. I’m a server myself so I do my best not to criticize other servers when I go out but I felt it was worth mentioning that our server seemed to not know the menu well. When I asked about the caprese salad he did not know what I was talking about. He had never heard of the dish before which I found very odd considering he worked there and it was on the menu he gave me. He did not know how to was prepared or how to serve it to us and had to ask. I will say the dish was good. My grandmother had been served room temperature white wine the last two times she ate there and mentioned that to the server, she wanted to make sure it was chilled he assured it he would and it was still room temperature. It might just be the way serve wine there but I personally have never heard of a restaurant serving warm white wine before. As far as the meal goes I ordered the margarita pizza which I enjoyed, someone else at my table ordered the bruschetta and it honestly was unappetizing just to look at I didn’t even want to try it. The bread was soggy and not toasted at all, there was no balsamic sauce or olive oil and it looked like it had been sitting in the back for hours before it was served to us. I ended up interacting with another server while I was there and she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, I wish I remembered her name. She mentioned they had recently changed their food menu, I’m assuming that is why our server did not know what caprese salad is, but in my opinion if a server waits on a table they need to know every menu item and I think that is a fairly common standard. The new bar is great and I love their signature cocktail list I will be going back for drinks I think, but I think their food menu needs some work. The bathrooms were also very clean but super dark to the point here I had trouble seeing in the stall. We all had a great time while there and we left full and happy although there were some minor inconveniences.
I'm not a big Italian food guy (mainly pizza or spaghetti) so take this with a grain of salt. I had the frittella with mushrooms, onion and pepperoni and a salad. It's a calzone basically, with cheese and marinara. I thought it was just ok. The marinara sauce was very sweet, definitely not my thing, I like spicy. The ingredients were also spread out poorly inside, all the onions were on one end, all the pepperoni was in the middle and all the mushrooms were on the other end. My wife had the lasagna, which had the same sweet marinara sauce. She said the lasagna at Olive Garden was better 😂. I did enjoy my salad and the waitress was great. Also, the owner came around to every table and talked to all the patrons, so points for that. I can't speak on other Italian dishes here but if you want a good calzone, go to Mr. G's in downtown Bryan.
We got take out tonight and it was our first time eating here. I will say the food tasted pretty good, that’s why I gave 3 stars and not less like I wanted. I got the baked ziti with marinara sauce and gluten free noodles, which I was happy to have the GF option BUT there was no cheese….. baked ziti is three things; noodles, sauce, and cheese but there was no cheese. It was so disappointing. My fiancé picked the food up and said the place wasn’t even busy so I don’t get how this mistake was made.
I really wanted to give this restaurant a chance despite some of the reviews. Rosa was a very nice waitress. No complaints on the service at all. We ordered a pizza and the manicotti and an order of breadsticks. The food was just okay. Give it a chance like we did and maybe you’ll like it. It’s usually pretty busy.
I have tried this place twice and do not like the food. The pasta was overcooked and gummy, and the salad was limp.
The pasta noodles were decent, but the sauces had a canned taste that took away from the overall flavor. On the bright side, the bread was absolutely delicious and a definite highlight of the meal. The atmosphere was unique, oddly quiet and a bit too dark for comfort.
Restaurant is clean and the staff is nice. But those are the only positives of my visit. The most underwhelming “Italian” food I’ve ever had. The pasta was average. The Alfredo sauce tastes like it came out of a jar. And the shrimp was just awful and chewy. And it was $24… Wouldn’t recommend to a friend.
Gave this place a shot, ordered a pepperoni pizza and chicken Alfredo. The Alfredo was so bland. Tasted like it was made with the basic ingredients to create white goop that game with what was basically boiled chicken. The pizza was also a bit of a wreck. Be cautious when going here. Its definitely in the right place for bland flavor in a what seems like a flavorless town.
The atmosphere was nice too look at but on my visit i felt like i was melting. It was very hot in the restraunt. Service was wonderful ontop of everything, wish she had been a touch faster but i feel that was just because i was hot. Food is what will make it where i wont return. The Alfredo sauce was plane and lacking flavor super creamy but thats all it had going for it. The fettuccine was great though. The desserts were what killed it for me. The cannole came out with no cream in the middle and a melting cream piled on the outside, one side covered in a pretty choclate but the other rainbow sprinkles....it looked tacky and tasted like a frozen canole shell with melted cream. The taramissu wasnt that good either. The coffee flavor was there but it was like i was choking down a starbucks coffee. Super sweet and a touch acidic. The cream here had a grittieness too it like it was about to split. The only thing i would come back for is the lemon drop cocktail. Otherwise this $107 was a waste of time and money.
The food was delicious and the wait time was not long. They severed the table promptly and very professionally. However, we were overcharged 10$for no apparent reason. I calculated the price from the signs above the register. Including tax, the price was suppose to be 45$ for spaghetti, lasagna, salad with soup, bread sticks, and 2 drinks. The price ended in 55$. When I questioned the cashier, she couldn't give me an explanation and said its the price when they put it in the register. The atmosphere was nice, but I would be careful at watching what they are charging you.
Service was fine, restaurant was a bit dated. The food was the inspiration for this review. I had the chicken "leather" breasts with mushrooms in a white wine sauce. My wife had the wood oven fired pizza with thin crust and seven toppings. This won't begin to describe how abysmal this crust was. Cardboard is thicker and has better chew. It was her birthday and the food was so bad we could only laugh it off as another bad experience in Bryan. The toppings were fine but the crust was a genuine failure to launch.
I honestly don't know why this place is so highly rated, but let me do you a solid and tell you the tea. The food was so bland that not even the salt and pepper on the table could help. The bread sticks are deep-fried? Save your disappointment and go to Olive Garden at this point. Like I'm not even exaggerating -- I had low standards for this place and they couldn't even meet those. And just like Cope, the reviewer before me, I don't want any kind of refund. I have never left a review before, but this was such a bad experience it is my moral responsibility to do so now.
The food was not good the marina sauce too sweet and watery , we didn’t eat or finish our meal really disappointed
I gave 3 for service and atmosphere because I decided to take out. This isn't an Italian restaurant. It's right on par with stoffers. if anyone that owns this place is actually Italian they should be ashamed of themselves. The sauce on their lasagna was ragu. Their cheese must have been left out for the dogs. The dogs decided they didn't like it. So they re added it to a dish. What a disgusting experience. Pasta fasul is not a soup. It's a dish. Just because you add a chicken stock to it doesn't make it anything more special.
Pizza is horrible. Crust is not homemade and waste of the cool oven they have. Margherita pizza is whole basil leaf and round mozzarella cheese. If it's shredded... it's just a cheese pizza. Scallopini gross. Not worth 1/2 that price. Artichoke dip not good either. Not good food at all. Embarrassed to take 1st date here.
I had a long week and it had been many years since I had been here so I thought we would try it again. It was not a pleasant experience. Not only was our waiter very inattentive, but the food is just awful. Definitely not authentic. We got bruschetta, which was on very Soggy bread and the tomatoes tasted like they were from a can with pre-shredded mozzarella and it was warm. Bruschetta is supposed to be fresh tomatoes, chopped up and mixed with olive oil, garlic and basil, and kept room temperature on top of a crustini. Not a mini French breads pizza. My main dish was the fettuccine carbonara. The noodles were overcooked and the sauce tasted like it was just thick cream and nothing else. A carbonara that is authentic is an egg yolk base with freshly grated Parmesan. Really disappointed.
My family and I went to Frittella's this evening to celebrate my mother's birthday and this was, I believe, the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I had called previously to set up a reservation and arrived this evening to the place understaffed and busy. The waitstaff were very pleasant but very clearly in the weeds. We waited at the bare minimum 30 minutes to be seated, get drinks, and have our order taken. All of that I can honestly forgive. However the worst part of our meal was when the owner came to speak to our table. We were waiting for our to-go boxes as well as the check when the owner came over to say they were "very busy and had other guests waiting" and wanted to know "when were we going to be done with this table." I have never in my life been rushed out of a restaurant like that before and we still had to wait another 20-30 minutes after that for the check. In that time the owner came back and insinuated that one of the women (including myself) were pregnant by asking "are y'all here for a baby shower?" which me and the other women in my party felt pretty insulted by. I love the food and the waitstaff are generally very polite but I will not be returning after such rude and insulting conduct from the owner, there are far better places in town to go to for Italian food.
I ordered over $75 worth of food to be delivered (cost w/o delivery fee), and although it showed up fresh, it was awful. I even tried to play it off with my 3 kids, and even my kid who is the furthest from pickey, brought it to me and said she didn't like it. I don't know who is cooking the food, but my God, fire them. I have NEVER left a google review ever until today, that's how bad it was. As a mom to 3, who rarely eats out because it's so expensive, I'm so disappointed. I should have just ordered Fazolis. Cheap, but has never been nasty.
Update: Spoke with the restaurant owner whom I shared our experience in detail and was very receptive of the feedback provided. Didn't expect a refund but he was kind enough to do so. Don't get any breadsticks.. they are deep fried greased dough and not even in a bread shape.
The food was disappointing to say the least. I ordered both a pizza and a Frittella. The pizza was was lukewarm warm and sad to say the least. The crust was clearly not made in house. And our “woodfired” pizza was not. The pizza was limp and floppy with only browning around the edges. Not to mention I watched the cook take it out of the combi oven. As for the Frittella it was also luke warm and poorly cooked. Half the cheese was still in its original cube not melted at all. Very disappointed because I had heard good thing and it was simply not so. Our service was ok but that was the only positive.
I don't often give out bad reviews for restaurants because there are so many variables and food service is a chaotic industry in general, but this was awful... Everything about our experience sucked. The hostess who took our order couldn't figure out which table to place us at because the host next to her wasn't consulting her on which tables he was placing. Our waitress, Justina, kept walking off without looking at us after she set drinks down. She would say, "Let me know if you need anything else," and I needed a straw, but she was gone again. The next time around, I caught her and got a straw when she brought our breadsticks, which we ordered with a side of alfredo that did not come. She walked off again before I could ask her for the alfredo sauce. The breadsticks were okay... but they aren't bread sticks. They were more like a funnel cake without the sugar. There wasn't any density to them. The marinara sauce was flavorful, but the alfredo lacked. The consistency was good, but it didn't taste like much beyond butter. Our food did not come until the owner checked on us, after two other tables that came after us were brought food. My husband ordered the baked ziti with marinara sauce, which arrived with maybe a pinch of shredded mozzarella on it and zero ricotta. The marinara sauce was like red water... really disappointing. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo, and the alfredo sauce was somehow worse than the alfredo dipping sauce we received. It tasted like flour water. The chicken was okay, and the noodles were cooked nicely, but overall lacking... We are not super picky eaters, so it is really rare that we come across something that is so awful that we can't just eat it and be on our way. We did not touch our plates after the first bite, and our waitress completely ignored us until we asked for our ticket. She did not ask how our food was, though it was clearly untouched. We decided to not mess with it, paid, and left. Picture is of the Ziti. It had the smallest amount of mozzarella. This was after I mixed it.
My boyfriend and I had been wanting to try out this restaurant for a while now, as he has fond memories here from his childhood. We decided that our anniversary would be the best time to try it out. From the start, the atmosphere was all wrong. The front room had fluorescent hospital lighting, while the back room had maybe one working bulb. I'll admit, the fireplace was nice, but the lack of music was unsettling. No music resulted in us hearing the conversations happening around us at full volume. A very loud party was sat a few tables away from us. Normally, I can ignore it, but I couldn't hear my date, who was sitting right in front of me. I understand that it is uncomfortable to confront customers about their noise level, especially with young children misbehaving. However, as a restaurant, it's your job to make sure everyone in the building is able to enjoy their dinner without screaming and cackling adults added into the air. It's awkward, but possible, speaking from experience as a server myself. Our server was sweet, which helped a bit. He was able to add marinara to the garlic bread we ordered, but the bread was clearly either a reheated frozen product or of the same quality, and the marinara tasted like ketchup water. Nothing was fresh, despite the frequent claim of "from scratch" food made by the owner and an abundance of positive Google reviews. Neither of us had ever felt the need to leave a restaurant after being seated and given an appetizer, but the atmosphere plus food quality pushed us to do so. I felt horrible denying our server a table; however, I could not bring myself to spend any more time or money feeling uncomfortable in that restaurant. We paid our tab and left. Unfortunately, this restaurant would be better left in the past.
What didn’t go wrong. First we began the night with garlic bread. I’ve always been a fan of frozen garlic bread so I really didn’t mind. Second, I ordered the spaghetti primavera and my friend ordered the parmesan chicken. What came out was shocking. I got a plate of spaghetti instead. I didn’t mind so I ate it. Now I will say, I consider myself a professional chicken nugget eater. I can taste Tyson chicken a mile away. The chicken in my meal felt as though it came out of the frozen bag. The sauce…Ragu. The noodles although they say are hand made tasted very closely to barilla. I then tasted the parmesan chicken and it felt as thought Tyson breaded chicken was warmed up in the microwave with water and then drenched in sauce and cheese. The waitress was sweet though!! Overall, the food was decent but didn’t add up to the price. If it was priced cheaper I would understand. But for the price, the food was not up to par.
