Mrs. Knott's is known for its consistently tasty, homestyle fried chicken and biscuits with boysenberry jam, evoking nostalgia for many. Service is generally excellent, though waits can be long. Some find portions small for the price or pie quality inconsistent.
Tip: Make a reservation to minimize wait times, especially during peak hours or special events like Knott's Scary Farm.

The chicken took me back to when our grandma would take us here in the 1960's! Great dinner!
The soup was a bit warm However, overall the fried chicken and mashed potatoes were amazing!!! 8/10!!!
You can not go wrong at Mrs. Knott's Chicken. The portions are huge, big enought to share! The only thing with that is that they charge you $8 to split the plate, I think that is way too much to charge. So, you eat eat you can and take the rest home for a meal the next day 😉. I tried their Boysenberry dressing on the salad, and it was delish, but if you don't like sweet, it's not for you. It was a wonderful and delish meal and our server, a delight.
It has been a while since I've been here, but I have to say it hasn't changed a bit. We used to live close by and had season passes for years, but moved and now live 150 miles away. We were in near by for a function recently and I just had to stop in, and I'm glad I did. I ordered Mrs. Knott's famous chicken dinner and was not disappointed. If you're going to order this meal, make sure you're hungry. It comes with soup and salad, dinner rolls with butter and boysenberry jam, half a chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, and a steamed vegetable, (I had the corn). The dinner also comes with dessert, boysenberry or apple pie. Truly a feast. But the best part, everything is amazingly delicious. It tastes just like I remember from so many years ago. Mrs. Knott's recipe, and memory, lives on through this wonderful establishment. Order what you like, I'm sure everything is fantastic, in my opinion, if you don't order Mrs. Knott's famous chicken dinner, you're missing out. I can't wait to return
Family atmosphere, waitress had amazing customer service. Had to try the famous 100 year old fried chicken recipe. It didn't disappoint, it was literally the best fried chicken ive ever had. Crunchy, crispy, juice seasoned perfectly, portions are so big. Breast, wing, thigh, leg. Mashed potatoes perfection, strawberry rhubarb side and cabbage and ham, 6 biscuits with boysenberry Jam. And comes with pie slice. Under $26.00 could feed two. Additionally $8.00 to split the plat but worth it if you want to share. Kid, had the sliders, equally as good. I wish we had this restaurant in Oregon. 10 out of 10.

In 1934, to make ends meet during the Great Depression, Knott's wife Cordelia (1890–1974) began serving fried chicken dinners on their wedding china, for dessert, Knott's signature Boysenberry Pie was also served to guests in the small tea room...
The chicken was great; moist inside and extremely crispy on the outside. The “fries” are a take on home fries and were magnificent. But the mashed potatoes, gravy and corn had zero seasoning and little taste. Would we go again, yes. The boysenberry pie was really tasty especially with vanilla ice cream. The restaurant is a cute country place with cute shops to enjoy after your meal to walk it off. Fun outing and scratched off an item from my husband’s bucket list!!
This place was worth the wait the food was delicious I got chicken and waffles and it was 🔥 my only complaint is we stopped on the way out of town and my hubby ordered a beer growler and we never got it he thought it was n in the brown paper bag they put in the big clear bag since get got a bucket of chicken meal but half way home when I checked the bag to eat we noticed it wasn't there I've been trying to call since Tuesday with no luck?! But other then that I will def be back. Oh and the boisenberry jam is the best!!!!
Overall good, tasty, home cooked meal fare. A good value overall. Most of the dinners include a small soup, salad and pie slice. Nice servers, cute with the memorabilia and pics. Just… idk. The food just isnt my cup of tea I guess. Good, hearty fare, but on the bland, plain side for me.
It has been years since we have been to Mrs. Knott's fried chicken restaurant at Knott's Berry Farm. The restaurant itself has been remodeled again, allowing for more seating, a bigger bar and a more modern decorative style meshed with old photographs of the restaurant and painted portraits of Walter Knott and Cordelia Knott. The menu is simple, but well done. Of course it's claim to fame is Cordelia's receipe for fried chicken. Still hand made, as well as the mashed potatoes, corn, cabbage and rhubarb. The side of chicken noodle soup was superb, creamy and thick with huge chunks of chicken. It was great and it reminded us of the times we would come here with family on vacations. It's an annual must for us when we are here in Southern California. I think most would say it is a great food item.
Fried chicken was great, potatoes and gravy great, salad, rhubarb all great. Cocktails were tasty but weak. Biscuits and pie crust didn’t have much flavor or crunch. Service was excellent! We were seated in the bar (4:00) instead of the restaurant tho we had reservations and it was freezing! We hadn’t been in 50 YEARS…it was fun to go again. Shan’t go again anytime soon.
I went for the midnight brunch avalible only select days during Knotts Scary Farm The entrance for the midnight brunch is at the back. Opposite of the main entrance. It was of course delicious. The must haves were the boysenberry sausages and biscuits with boysenberry jam. Everything else was filler. Coffee was hot and had a good flavor and the juices was ice cold super good. Plastic utensils were provided with sturdy disposable plates. No other toppings for the scrambled eggs other than salt pepper and ketchup. Parking is $40. This midnight brunch about 24 per person. All in all not bad especially if you don't like crowds but miss a buffet setting. There is a choice of: Waffles Pancakes Biscuits Scrambled eggs Country fried potatoes Fried chicken thighs and legs Bacon Boysenberry Sasuage Sasage gravy Boysenberry jam Hot syrup Fruit Coffee Orange juice Apple juice Water
My dad swears that this is the best fried chicken he's had. I had to find out if he was right. We must have come during an odd time because my chicken was REALLY dry. Tasted fine just...left me wanting more. My husband loved his spicy chicken sandwich. Soup was ok, I let hubs have the salad. Sides were... sides. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it here and the staff was nice. But was hoping for more tender chicken. Maybe next time?
Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Portion to Price: 5/5 Overall: Good food with great portions. The extended review... Food: 4/5 - Fried Chicken Dinner - Love this place for this meal. You will end up full and potentially have left overs to go home with. It is a little on the saltier side which I'm fine with. Soup, salad, and buscuits to start! Service: 4/5 - Friendly and attentive service Ambiance: 4/5 - A great setting which is very spread out Portion to Price: 5/5 - No complaints
After our enjoyable trip to the nearby theme park Six Flags, my family and I decided to treat ourselves to a chicken dinner at this restaurant. As soon as we stepped into the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by Allison at the front desk. She informed us that we could expect a wait of about 25 minutes. For about 23, we sat in a cozy waiting area must past the reception. Our server, Martyn, a friendly older gentleman, promptly offered us waters. Looking at the menu, there were a wide variety of chicken-related dishes. Before we could really look at the menu, Martyn swiftly brought us our waters and an order of biscuits, along with a selection of packaged butter and jam. The biscuits were warm to the touch, with a delightful crisp on the outside and edges, while the inside was soft and slightly fluffy. They had a savory-salty flavor that complemented the sweet jam. After delivering the biscuits, Martyn politely took our drink order while we browsed the menu in his absence. He promptly refilled our drinks and took our main orders. Two of us chose the classic fried chicken, while the other opted for the chicken-fried steak. Both entrees came with a selection of sides and either a soup or salad. Our combination included steamed cabbage with ham, corn, soup, salad, and rhubarb. The salad arrived promptly. It was a simple side dish, with crisp and chilled leafy greens, cucumber slices, and cherry tomatoes. The ranch dressing had a tangy and creamy flavor. After the salad came the chicken noodle soup. It was incredibly creamy, with a thick, gelatinous broth similar to that of a gravy sauce. The noodles were melt-in-your-mouth texture in the form of a ribbon, all with hints of celery and chives. Accompanying the soup was the rhubarb. It was very sweet and firm (possibly undercooked?), with a subtle, slightly tart flavor in a syrup-like liquid. Although there was a brief wait for the main course, it arrived soon enough. The fried chicken was crispy and freshly warmed, juicy and neither excessively salty nor sweet. The accompanying mashed potatoes had a chunky texture and a peppery taste, complementing the chicken well. The gravy had a funky yogurt-like light taste but an appetizing aroma. The chicken fried steak had a granular texture, a light breading, and a soft, tender meat that allowed the breading to melt off in your mouth easily. The corn, a simple yet delightful steamed side dish, and sort of served as a palate cleanser. The cabbage was heavily steamed alongside ham pieces, giving it a slightly bitter taste. All of these recipes (allegedly the originals) were reasonably tasty for their price and branding, but they weren’t exceptionally great. The food might have more of an appeal to nostalgia, but I would choose a standard restaurant over here most days.
Okay this is the first time I've been here in about 11 years! :-) glad to know that the service and the food were still very good! The wait is a bit long but that's to be expected here in Southern California! The fried chicken is always awesome! And so are the apple pie and the boysenberry pie! We'll come back at sometime in the future! :-)

I grew up in the Midwest. I have been to countless farmhouse diners. Knott's has all that style, without the substance. First, the positives. As you'd expect, the restaurant is huge. Multiple rooms, a bar, a huge operation. Decorated well. But to handle a theme park crowd, this is a given. Additionally, the portion sizes are an incredible value. For the price of one dinner (~$25) you get two appetizers, biscuits, a main, a side, and dessert. It's a great value anywhere, let alone a theme park. But that's where the positives end. I understand this is apparently Cordelia Knott's original fried chicken recipe, and I appreciate that commitment. But everything is so... Bland. There is no salt anywhere. The biscuits were kind of stodgy (though the boysenberry jam was pleasant), the soup was very one-note, the salads were sloppy. Even the pie had almost no depth; the crust tasted like nothing at all. Very disappointing. Then on a service note, if you have a season pass, they have no means to scan your phone tableside, so you have to go on an adventure to the bar with your server, which just seems like an extreme inefficiency. I'm glad this restaurant is hanging in there, and I'm sure I'll be back. It's a nice tradition that they keep alive. It just really leaves me wishing the food was made with a bit more attention to detail.
I purchased an entire boysenberry pie for about $26 after taxes. It didn't taste homemade. The pie filling had the same taste and consistency of a canned pie filling. It didn't taste wholesome and was bland. The crust was exceedingly thick. Without the thick crust this flat pie would have been concave shaped(very little filling for the money). I won't be purchasing pie there again.
Attempted to make reservations for Thanksgiving dinner for 4 days both online and by phone. Online would not accept requests and 3 different numbers I called just rang and rang with no one answering nor any voice mail. I emailed customer service for information and received a canned reply with park hours only. We decided to go anyway knowing it would be a long wait to be seated but we would browse the shops anyway. Marketplace short term parking has been reduced with the space given to priority parking at $55. We were forced to park in the general parking lot which cost $35 (This was reimbursed with validation at the information office). We were told it would be a 1 hour 15 minute wait for a table which was no problem. That turned into almost a 2 hour wait, again no problem. Once seated it took a little time for our drink orders to be taken, again no problem as they were super busy. Our server came for our food order which we had to repeat 3 and 4 times as she told us she was hard of hearing. My wife ordered a chicken Caesar salad and a side of onion rings, I a traditional dinner. We received the food minus the onion rings and asked the server for them. He went to check, returned and told us they were coming. Half way through eating still no onion rings. Our first server came by and we asked regarding the onion rings explaining we asked the other server for them. She informed us the other person was just a runner and couldn’t place an order. We explained we had ordered them with her the first time and were told she must not have heard us. Funny this as she repeated our order back to us in the beginning. Overall neither the food nor service was what we would call bad but it was well below the standard we have experienced in the past, and we come here often. Management needs to do something to improve customer service regarding booking online and having the phone numbers they provide for the restaurant being answered.
Childhood nostalgia and a craving for fried chicken led me back to Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner. We came on a Sunday night around 6pm. Parking was available in the metered lot and completely validated by the restaurant. There was a 45 minute wait upon arrival, which went by relatively quickly thanks to the various shops nearby. One thing that was a little inconvenient was that we could not view our place in line during our wait. Upon checking in, we received a text that said “You’re on the waitlist at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner. View waitlist:” with a link to OpenTable. However, the Opentable page only told us we were on the waitlist and did not tell us how many parties were in front of us. There was, however, a countdown to our “reservation” time which was surprisingly accurate. The restaurant felt rustic like an antique farmhouse in the south. Martyn gave us great service. He continuously checked up on us and got us whatever we needed. The food was ok. Definitely not as good as I remembered it was 10 years ago. The bread was decent, and I liked the boysenberry jam it came with. The appetizers were also pretty good. We got the onion rings and the fried mozzarella. The onion rings were served stacked on each other like a tower with ranch and bbq sauce. There were 4 pieces of fried mozzarella in one order. They were shaped like half moons and served with a tomato cheese sauce. But Mrs. Knott’s famous fried chicken platter disappointed me. The pieces of fried chicken varied in quality. The drumstick and thigh were pretty good. They were crispy and moist. But the wing and breast were very dry. The kicker is that you have the option of ordering all white meat for an extra $5, but the pieces of white meat I received were significantly poorer in quality than the pieces of dark meat. This inconsistency was consistent across all plates at our table - everyone agreed that the breasts and wings were too dry. The mashed potatoes were good… on their own. But I was not a fan of the gravy on top. And the corn… was corn. You have the option of choosing corn or cabbage with ham. Only one of us got the cabbage with ham, and he wasn’t exactly raving about it. I will say that quality aside, the dinner entrees have pretty good value as they all come with soup, salad, and a slice of pie. Mrs. Knott’s famous fried chicken platter, for example, was $26. We all opted for the boysenberry pie. The pie pastry was good, but the boysenberry filling… really needed like a scoop of ice cream or something on top.
I drove all the way from Idaho with some friends to visit Knotts Berry Farm for the first time. I was super excited to be able to make a reservation and come to this restaurant with my wife. (Date night!) Our waiter was super excellent and very friendly. My wife and I were able to order the famous chicken dinner. There is an option that is called split plate so you each get your own of the side salad a side of dessert and one more side, and then you share the chicken dinner. Now for the dinner, we did like the corn the salad and we really like the chicken dumpling soup. For our drinks, we got the boysenberry punch, which I think is a must try. We really enjoyed this punch. For our dessert, we tried both the apple pie and the boysenberry pie. Now my wife isn’t a cooked fruit person, but I enjoyed both pies a lot , especially the apple pie, which had a great cinnamon flavor to the apples. Now for the chicken, we were left a little bit disappointed. On our platter, we got three pieces of chicken. My wife and I each had a small smaller piece like a drumstick and it tasted very good and very crispy. But when it came to share the big breast, it tasted like it was sitting under a heat lamp for a while. It just didn’t taste fresh so we were both disappointed in that aspect. Now when it comes to the atmosphere of this restaurant, I loved it! I thought it was very unique. There are a couple different dining areas that you are able to go to and they seemed a little bit differently. To us it kind of felt similar to a Cracker Barrel, but better. Overall, I thought this was a good restaurant. I would love to come back and give it another try and be able to try something different. I would highly recommend making a reservation as this place will be a BUSY. If you will also are a season pass holder, you are able to get a 10% discount which I loved.
It's been a few years since I've eaten at Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant. Unfortunately, my recent experience was not as I remembered. The place itself hasn't changed much. That includes wait times to be seated, which took about an hour. Luckily, we managed to get a hold of a few menus so we knew what we wanted to order a few minutes after we sat down. This place is known for its fried chicken dinner, so that's what we ordered. A single dinner comes with half a fried chicken, soup, salad, a side corn and cabbage, and a slice of pie. The salad was ordinary, a bit watery and kind of skimpy. The chicken noodle soup was thick, chunky, and lukewarm. It resembled and tasted like the filling in a chicken pot pie. It was far from typical chicken noodle soup. The corn and cabbage tasted as expected, but were also lukewarm. The fried chicken was piping hot, but overcooked and a bit on the dry side. The mashed potatoes and gravy were fine. We both found the food a bit bland. Tobacco sauce helped all around. The fried chicken dinner costs $26.50. There is an extra $8 fee to split it between two people and add $5 if you want all white meat (three chicken breasts). That's $40 bucks between two people which is not a bad deal, but the food didn't taste as good as I remembered. Maybe we came on an off night? 🤷 One positive take away were the staff. We had a large party and everyone thought our server was friendly, attentive and on point.

I’ve lived in LA most of my life and I’ve never had the chicken at Knott’s. I made reservations and figured I’d try it. Oh my! It was dry, tough, and flavorless. I had the fried and my daughter had the roasted. The “chicken noodle soup” was a bowl of gravy. I was so disgusted by this place. For the price, I would’ve expected more. No thanks.

This place is TERRIBLE. gross. Bland. Disappointing. School Cafeteria food. The $26 Knotts chicken dinner is bad. Go to KFC it’s cheaper and 10X better. The $15 sliders I’m pretty sure are fresh out of the frozen food department of some dollar tree somewhere. The buns were hard. The patties were worse than a Tyson Dino Nugget. For a restaurant this pie has to be the saddest thing I’ve ever seen. For $60 this was ridiculous. Edible sure. Bland yes. Hard yes. Dry yes. Gross yes. And service was SLOOOOOOOW. Which was shocking I thought cafeterias just had it all in a heat box in back scoop a serve. Shouldn’t be as slow as it was. I looked at the other views and I’m missing something. There isn’t enough bad reviews. I must be spoiled by Disney restaurant quality meals that I can’t settle for Knotts disgustingness.
Alexa! Play “You should’ve gone elsewhere” by Knotts Chicken Dinner…. Attempted this location after a long day at Knotts Berry Farm.. This chicken was drier than my eczema 😒 ZERO flavor and not a piece of seasoning in sight! Not to mention I had to send an undercooked piece back to the kitchen. Don’t let the presentation fool you. A lot of things “look” good when you’re hungry but for almost $24+ a plate and $6.99 for drinks, you would at least expect something great. The hostess was obviously ready to go home and had a lot of people waiting with plenty of tables open…Yeah, we should’ve gone elsewhere…
Please let's be real about this place. Regardless of how nostalgic it might be for some people, the food is just horrible. I ordered the chicken sandwich thinking it would be a juicy, crispy piece of fried chicken, like at....Popeyes, McDonalds, really anywhere that offers them now. What I received was two processed rounds of meat, like what you get in a bag in Walmart's frozen food section (no offense to Walmart). My husband got their fried chicken and it was so dry he couldn't eat it. My son ordered a steak and it must have been frozen. It, as well, was too dry to eat (see photo, that's not metloaf folks). They had to have microwaved the steak to defrost it and then murdered it when cookig it. My daughter ordered chicken and dumplings and it was shockingly unflavorful. And guess what? Even covered with gravy her chicken was dry! Why didn't we complain?? It took over an hour to get our food. The waitress told us it would be a wait when we ordered the steak (again must have been frozen), but it ended up taking twice that. The waitress didn't ask how our food was, probably because she knew what we'd say and didn't want to hear another set of complaints. We've made the mistake now twice with this place. We won't again. It's a shame, because it would be so nice to stop for a good meal while at Knottsberry. However, they dont have those at this restaurant.
