Pumking Imperial Ale: Although I’ve become less of a beer guy since my college days, I couldn’t resist the urge to pick this up. Even though I find them to be real hit or miss, I like to try at least one new pumpkin beer each fall and though it has been a few years, Southern Tier’s Pumking is my reigning champ. The artwork on the bottle shows a cool illustration of a pumped-up pumpkin king cackling as he shows off his guns in a sleeveless royal garb with an eye-catching pumpkin orange colored background. My bottle poured a slightly hazy deep copper color. Pumking’s aroma is described by Southern Tier as a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, allspice, vanilla, and buttery crust. As Southern Tier likes to say, it’s essentially pumpkin pie in a glass! I wouldn’t go that far, but in the land of pumpkin beers, it is good enough to be king in my opinion. I detect pumpkin the most in the aftertaste, but it’s pleasant and not burning/too spicy. There’s also a nice combination of vanilla and cinnamon that help contribute to the illusion of pumpkin pie. It’s sweet (for a beer) and not overly bitter with an IBU of 28. Being an imperial ale, it’s a bit BOOzy at 8.6%ABV, but the aforementioned flavors mask it well. It was my first time in Buffalo, NY and after a long day traveling and hiking…my nephew and I were starving! We had the BEST experience ever here! Our server Tori (Victoria G) was exceptional! Very personable and smiley! Every suggestion she offered from our questions from beer choice to food choices we ended up ordering were spot on!!! I felt like she knew us!! The meal was exactly what I had a taste for and completely satisfying! We left full and happy!! Can’t wait to go back when I am in the area! Food ordered: wings - medium buffalo sauce (perfect crispiness and sauce perfect medium spice flavor), classic cheeseburger (juicy, tasty and filling). Beer: Sessions IPA 4.8%. Great flavor without high alcohol.

My wife and I have stopped in here several times for a beer or two before a concert or hockey game, last weekend we dropped in after walking around canal side. She had the Carmel Pumpking and I had the IPA both of which were very good! For an appetizer we ordered the whipped Feta with pita bread which was AMAZING. I had the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich which was excellent, my wife had the Hierloom BLT, also excellent. Our waitress Shania G was friendly, knowledgable and the service was excellent, the restrooms were clean. Southern Tier is now our go to spot when at Canalside!

Well worth every penny 🥰. Beer comes in a good variety including stouts 😍. Food is excellent and in generous plates. Its a must visit in Buffalo NY if you like sport pub and good beer. Service is outstanding 🙏🏼❤️

The establishment features a large central screen and individual table-side televisions, ensuring optimal viewing of sporting events. Service is consistently reliable. We stopped in while visiting Buffalo because ST is one of my faves and I’ve never been. We happened to stop in during a Bandits watch party and wow what a fun experience! We ordered appetizers and drinks. Everything was great. Bartenders were friendly!

We loved working with Laurie, the private event manager, and she made sure everything went off without a hitch! She customized the cutest signs to direct our guests to the space and share the drink menu! The food was great. It was $1 wing Wed special, and we ordered mild, hot and bbq and liked them all. The hot wasn't too spicy at all, as we worried. We enjoyed steakhouse burger and classic burger, as well as beef on weck. We had 2 flights of different ales and loved them all too. The interior is quite modern, spacious with lots of screens showing different sport programs.

Whether you like sports or not, this is the spot. My chicken nachos were amazing (had them three times) and they had a great drink menu. The service was excellent; pleasant and attentive, without being too much. Great vibe no matter what time of day you go. Setup is perfect no matter what size party you have, including kids. I wish I lived in Buffalo, because I'd be there right now.

Quiet atmosphere with plenty of television entertainment. Conveniently located near a major event arena, so it's perfect for catching a quick bite before the show or game! Server wasn't very personable- he sort of took our order and ran away. Food was good, for the appetizers and beer we had.

The staff was excellent and attentive even on such a busy night. After that experience we went back for a second night because of the staff. Will go again next trip.

Decent food and beer. The menu is mostly pub fair but they had a few interesting surprises, like a chicken pot pie. I had the Cobb Salad with chicken and was underwhelmed… maybe a little short on the bacon, but I did enjoy the 2X Milk Stout. The restaurant is spacious and they have a nice big bar. The beer selection is heavily slanted toward IPAs but that seems to still be the trend. My servers were very attentive without being overbearing. It was a nice experience and I would come back.

Unfortunately very disappointed with my meal. I ordered the “shareables” loaded fries and the size was disappointing for the price ($13). One of the people I was dining with ordered a side of fries (for $3) and they were served on the same sized plate with the same amount of fries. Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t think the cheese sauce, ranch, and bacon bits justify them being $10 more. Another person I was dining with also ordered a “shareable” and his serving was what I would consider to be a shareable size. It made me think I was served the wrong thing. I don’t know the servers name but she was very polite.

I am a huge Buffalo Bills fan who lives in New Jersey. I frequently visit the city during the season to enjoy great food, Bills Mafia, and my Buffalo Bills. Saturday night we decided to try Southern Tier. This location used to be 716, a place we both loved. We decided to give this new location a try. The menu looked promising on our phone, but when we arrived at the location, they gave us a menu with maybe 15 options, and I am being generous. We asked about the menu, and the waiter was very awkward and short with us; he was one of the worst I have ever seen. I am very respectful and generous to waiters due to how tough their jobs can be at times. But this young man was the exception. He was very attentive to other guests next to us but paid very little attention to our table. Now, please understand, I am not attempting to slander the young man nor accuse; however, I am Black, and my fiancée is White. The two couples surrounding us were all White. My fiancée felt uncomfortable and thought we should pay for our drinks and leave before the food arrived. I wanted to give it a chance. Bad decision on my part. I will never visit that location again. And I will make sure when my friends and I visit, we avoid this location at all costs. Also, when leaving this establishment, the hosts hardly said a word to us. We respectfully left the location, promising never to lay eyes on it again.
