Excellent food!!! So tasty, and well presented. We ordered the Turn up, and the hot honey mac salad. Both were delicious and very generously sized. Great prices for value, size, and taste of food. Definitely recommend.

This place was awesome. The sandwiches (heroes) were amazing. Tons and tons of different choices to pick from, hot or cold. Best of all, you can customize your own to make any combinations you could think of. Their fried chicken (cutlet) was crispy, juicy goodness. The bread, sauces and veggies were super fresh and full of flavor. Nice selection of chips and sides and their chocolate cookie was super soft and fluffy. Can’t wait to keep going back and telling others to check it out.

In a Buffalo subshop/deli scene filled with great options, Zios is at the very top level. Tremendous.

Classic deli done right. Awesome potion size, fresh ingredients, chicken cutlets and the eggplant were thin and crispy! Also had the hot honey pasta salad… 10/10. Looking forward to coming back!

The staff was attentive and understanding of my need for a gluten free roll and food was absolutely delicious and came.out super fast! Couldn't be happier with our experience. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area!!

This was my first time eating here. It took me a while to make a decision as all of the subs sounded amazing. I settled on the Rico and was not disappointed. It was probably one of the best chicken cutlets I have ever had with some of the freshest ingredients. I will be back to try the rest of the menu.

No atmosphere, FABULOUS subs. That's fine by me!

These sandwiches are works of art. I've been hunting for a proper eggplant/mozz/balsamic/roasted peppers like they make in NYC, and the Rocco nailed it. Try the hot honey mac salad too.

I read an article that mentioned Zio’s awhile ago, but I never seemed to drive past when they were open. I finally stopped in a few weeks ago and the subs are SO good. I’ve already been back and can’t wait to go again. I’ve had the Luther and the Weeze and they were both delicious. They’re not cheap, but it isn’t a subway. Worth the cost in my opinion.

Had my first postpartum deli experience here and let me tell you it was AMAZING! Made the last 9 months worth the wait. The ingredients were fresh and the sub was large. The service was fast. I’m so glad Zio’s is in my neighborhood and can’t wait to go back.

Zio's is the real deal. Fresh ingredients, delicious combinations, fair prices, fun specials, friendly faces, neighborhood HEART, pure Buffalo CHARACTER, hit-the-spot lunches and dinners every single time. Batting average of Tony Gwynn++++. I cannot recommend this place enough.

R

Such good subs. We ordered the Frankie, Eddie and a Bro. The sub size are huge. The quality of the bread, meat , cheese and veggies were all fresh. There were three people working all welcoming and seemed super happy at their jobs. They were getting orders done laughing singing and enjoying themselves.

I just tried one of Zio's new bowls for the first time. It was exactly what I needed. I am so looking forward to summer. You know these bowls will be a staple with me for the concerts in Bidwell Park and Shakespeare in the Park. I had a Trish bowl and added a chicken cutlet. Perfection!!

My husband and I wanted a sandwich and stumbled upon Zio's Deli. I got a JT with bacon and my husband got a ham and cheese toasted sandwich. I was pleasantly surprised how good our sandwiches were. The bread is so fresh. The only thing I wished they had was fountain drinks instead of bottles but I would definitely come back when I'm in the area. It's within walking distance to Buffalo State University, too.

Very rarely do you get something delivered and have it be as good as if you were there. This was one of those occasions. Great portions, great flavor. Would absolutely, without a doubt, order from here again. Great job guys and thank you!

I love Zios! This place rocks. Fresh, quality food and worth the price for the portion you get. Their chicken cutlets are so good. Every hero I've tried so far has been amazing whether it's off the menu or the special of the week. And you must try their choc. chip cookies. Very friendly staff too. Can't say enough good things about Zios!

New favorite spot for a quick lunch or grabbing some dinner to take home. Don’t sleep on their chicken cutlets, the Big Gram is so good. They also have some of the best vegetarian sub options I have ever seen. The Weeze with vodka sauce was everything I needed. On top of great subs they also have excellent soups, sides and vegan chocolate chip cookies. I can’t recommend this place enough, it is quickly becoming an Elmwood Village staple for lunch.

I tried both the JT & the Zio, & loved them both - every ingredient worked together so well & they were the perfect ratios. I can't wait to make my way to other items on the menu. The biggest surprise was the vegan choc chip cookies, omg. They're amazing, & the sea salt just takes it over the top. Please do not forget them when you stop in!

I’ve been to Zios a few times and it never disappoints! This is the Rocco and I’m pretty sure I’m never going to order anything else but this from now on . The combo with the balsamic glaze , pesto , roasted peppers, fresh mozzarella, arugula and fried eggplant can not be beat ! Come here if you want fresh ingredients, fast , friendly , local service .

Fresh Quality Ingredients! I have had the pleasure of eating here a few times now. I love the Luther Hero! I always say I’m going to try something else/new but I always resort back to the Luther! The chicken cutlet is always perfect! The pomodoro sauce is just right and the fresh mozzarella hits right every time! The bread is usually toasted to perfection. When a hero with sauce on it is still good hours later it says a lot! I don’t have the best pictures but you MUST TRY Zio’s if you have not already. All their ingredients are fresh and delicious. You can tell their food is made with care. Cant wait to return!

Stopped here today to try it out. Got the Kev, which was $12. Thought it was a bit pricey but then I opened it. Absolutely loaded with quality fresh ingredients and the hoagie roll was the bomb as well. Just the right crisp. Great job. The tomato cream soup was also delicious. Only recommendation down the road is offering two soups.

Nice new deli in Elmwood Village. Our group ordered an assortment of menu items and all were made with care, fresh ingredients and were substantial in portion size. I ordered mine on a gluten free sub roll; I would ask to have roll toasted for added flavor if having cold sub. Looking forward to going back.

This place rules. I'm from Philly and was in Buffalo for the Every Time I Die festival and heard about Zio. Sandwhiches are a big deal here in Philly and let me assure you, Zio's is legit. I had the zio and the luther with vodka sauce and would happily eat either again. I preferred the baguette to the regular sub (hoagie!) roll but both were good. I also tried the mac salad, thought it needed more salt but i still enjoyed it. Also, don't sleep on the chocolate chip cookies. One of the best I've had, period.

Zio's is one of my favorite spots, their sandwiches are unique and never disappoint. I most recently had the Hot Boi and it was the best sandwich I've had this year. Easily some of the best sandwiches in the city. Super fresh ingredients and you can tell it’s made with care. It's locally owned and the people who work here are genuinely so nice. I’ve been seeing Zio’s all over for a while and was excited to finally try it. Called for takeout and service was quick and friendly. All the ingredients seemed fresh and the sandwiches looked amazing. For some reason though the flavor was less than I expected. Was not bad by any means but for some reason it just didn’t pop. I ordered the Luther with vodka and the Bro. Will definitely give it another shot but had pretty high expectations and was pretty underwhelmed. 3.8/5-BJ

"Zio's Deli on Elmwood: A Sandwich Lover's Haven with a Bread Twist" Zio's Deli, a cozy spot nestled on Elmwood Avenue, is more than just a sandwich shop; it's an experience for the senses. With a varied menu, friendly atmosphere, and a story of evolving bread choices, Zio's stands out in the local culinary scene. Ambiance and Service: Zio's greets you with a warm, inviting ambiance. The deli has a casual, yet lively atmosphere, making it an ideal place for a quick lunch or a leisurely afternoon bite. The staff at Zio's are notably friendly and passionate about their craft, adding to the overall welcoming experience. Bread Journey: Initially, Zio's used baguettes for their sandwiches. These baguettes, while fresh, were unfortunately quite dry, affecting the overall enjoyment of their otherwise delicious sandwiches. Recognizing this, Zio's switched to a softer bread from a new supplier, which was an improvement, though there have been occasional issues with freshness. Menu Highlights: Zio's menu is a testament to their commitment to quality and variety. Alongside classic sandwiches, they offer a range of creative options. They have a delightful selection of meats, including traditional choices like turkey and ham, and more gourmet options like prosciutto and capicola. The cheese selections are equally impressive, featuring classics like Swiss and cheddar, alongside artisan options like gouda and brie. Vegetarian options are also plentiful, with fresh, locally-sourced vegetables playing a starring role. Specialties: Their panini selection deserves a special mention. When pressed, the sandwiches gain a crispy texture and a harmonious blend of flavors, making them a must-try. Beverages and Sides: Zio's also offers a variety of sides, including homemade chips and fresh salads. Their beverage selection includes artisanal sodas, local craft beers, and a range of coffees and teas. Hours and Accessibility: Zio's is open from 10 AM to 7 PM on weekdays, and 11 AM to 5 PM on weekends, catering to both the lunch crowd and early dinner-goers. The deli is easily accessible, located in a bustling area with ample parking. Final Thoughts: While Zio's Deli has had its ups and downs with bread selection, the quality of their ingredients, the variety in their menu, and their commitment to customer satisfaction make it a standout establishment. The staff's enthusiasm and the deli's welcoming vibe make each visit a pleasure. I remain optimistic that Zio's will continue to refine their bread choices. Until then, their warm, pressed sandwiches are a perfect way to enjoy the full range of flavors Zio's has to offer.

Ordered a gluten free sub because I have celiac. They can’t toast due to shared surfaces. My sandwich was $15 on the board but $28 with a Diet Coke so you do the math for the gluten free upcharge.

The most average sandwich I’ve ever had. Quality and taste on par with Subway which says a lot! Chicken cutlet sub had no flavor at all. Y’all, Wawa has better sandwiches than these. Highly recommend saving your money and going just about anywhere else

A

Nice place with kind service. The issue is the sandwiches. Overly dense bread with no crisp to the crust. Minimal fillings and under seasoned across the board on 2 sandwiches and 2 pasta salads. Some attention to detail and a bit of finesse could have made these sandwiches so much better. Dry dense bread is a shame. For little to no additional cost these sandwiches could be great. The ingredients are in the house and just not being utilized. Might give another shot but for $15 bucks a pop ill have to see what else is out there for a real quality hoagie before coming back here.

From my past experiences, the sandwiches are good but unfortunately the sandwich I had today was pretty underwhelming. I'm not sure if it's because of the ingredients I chose but $15 for this is disappointing :(

UPDATE- Ridiculous how you guys are creating fake reviews after my honest review. Yes 6 positive reviews out of no where when you guys typically gain reviews once a month. Very sus & shows how guilty you are & the truth speaks for itself. Crazy how I would come here & spend money even when the food sometimes didn’t meet expectations. There are cars that park on the side where the permit for unload & loading hasn’t been renewed or paid since 2015 meaning they don’t have the right towards it unless they do & their gonna sit here & out of all the cars that park there everyday leave a letter on MY CAR that my husband had to let me know of if I keep parking there they will call the tow truck company to tow my car. You guys do not own the street unless yall pay the bill for that space who do yall think yall are? I see why y’all’s business isn’t thriving. Dont park your car there if your a customer or have apartments in that building or around they might just have your car towed. Bad look on a business & for your customers

This place started out great we would eat there daily. Idk if management changed or what happened but. Orders have been getting messed up. The rolls change non stop. When you call about a wrong order they are nice and all but the solution is to just go in and order at the counter. I’ve tried so many times and it is just too inconsistent now. This order was a the new cheeseburger sub. It was not only wrong they wrote how it was supposed to be made on the wrapper but it wasn’t even close. I hope someone in ownership see this and starts to watch for the issues

Ordering takeout and delivery from here is an absolute nightmare. Two times now. Takes forever and finally when it comes the order is wrong. Just punt on ordering delivery or takeout. Go in.

T

I was excited there was a shop where I could get a real chicken cutlet parm. Ordered the Luther and as others have said it had no flavor. I don't understand how a fried chicken cutlet vodka sauce and mozzarella had no flavor but it didn't. The worst though was the glaze/spread they put on the roll before grilling. Everybite you are treated by a nauseating smell that is truly awful. Few bites wrapped it up back in it's bag and accepted my $17 was wasted. Best part though 2 hours later when I went to throw it out that smell was now rancid. Not a good experience waste of money.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Walked in and the music was straight-up inappropriate and off-putting. Not the vibe you expect from a deli where people are trying to grab food. Turned me right off and I won’t be coming back. Food spots should feel welcoming — this didn’t. 🤷‍♂️
