My friend and I were going for a drink and dessert so we went straight to the bar. We did no waiting at all. Shortly after, people were starting to arrive and it was getting busy, which is a very good sign. I recommend the flan and the chocolate lava cake. To drink we got the mambo-jito I believe it’s called. It was really good. We kept getting asked by our server if we were good or needed anything else so that was good too. The music was good.
I am super appreciative for the kind customer service from the managers Guillermo and Vivi on my to-go order! The food was sooo good! I tried both Cuban and Peruvian dishes and loved everything. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to come back and dine in with my family!
My friends and I LOVE coming to mambos. They accommodate large groups well, food is consistently great, drinks are pretty good but pricey. We enjoy the live music at night and vibes, although it can get loud but if it’s too much you can sit outside on the patio. Service is fine but there have been a few occasions when the servers are slow or forget to check on us. Overall though we love Mambos and will always come back! My favorite item is the Ropa Vieja!!
Daniella is gave us a 5 star experience. Even my 9 year old wanted something extra special for a drink didn't hesitate to make it to his liking. Food and service here have been great every time I've gone.
I was on a date night at Top Golf and Andrettis. We were looking for a restaurant to go to that was close. We came across Mambo’s Cafe. I’m so glad we did! This is by far my favorite restaurant. I’m literally excited to tell people about it. The flavor of the food is amazing. The service was outstanding. I’ve traveled a lot and have tried many different types of food and I can truly say the food here was some of the best food I’ve ever had. Loved the atmosphere. Such a great experience.
We came to Mambo’s as a party of three and were pleasantly surprised by how quickly everything came out—it wasn’t too busy, so service was lightning fast. The free Cuban bread to start is a great touch, and you have to try the papas rellenas and beef empanadas—both were top-notch appetizers. I ordered the churros and someone else at our table had the red snapper—both dishes were absolutely delicious. The decor is vibrant and full of cultural flair, which really adds to the experience. Isabella was our waitress and took fantastic care of us the entire evening. We didn’t catch the live music this time, but I’ve heard Fridays are when the place really comes alive—definitely planning to come back for that. Bonus: there’s plenty of space at the large bar if that’s your vibe. Highly recommend!
Solid 4. Food came out quick, and the food was good, not excellent. Service was mid, not bad but not upbeat or welcoming either. Portion sizes was enough to walk away happy. It lacked personality. It was good, and you won't be disappointed but just not anything to make them stand out amongst all the restaurant competition nearby.
Visiting family and decided to try this place. The service was excellent, very friendly server and very attentive. I’ve tried many Peruvian and Cuban restaurants and the food here was ok. Not the best I’ve had but fairly good. We had the Ceviche, Paella, Ropa Vieja, Lomo Saltado and a few more dishes. Overall it was good but for some reason missing something, just can’t pinpoint it exactly. I would recommend it just to try it out.
Excellent portion sizes. Black beans were too salty, but I'm glad they put it in a separate bowl. I ordered a very rich and filling cheesy buttery rice with seafood called "arroz con mariscos." It was so greasy because of some kind of rich buttery sauce plus they put extra parmesan cheese on top. It tasted good but it was mostly rice. No vegetables or plaintains included. I ate this dish for like 3 meals. Seafood tasted very fresh. This dish was only a little spicy to me, but kids may find it spicy to them. Lamb shank was very good. Falls right off the bone. Red onion salsa was our favorite. Plaintains is always a favorite. Yuca fries are so good. Good presentation, but I would prefer not to have flowers on my food. Microgreens was a nice nutritious addition to the dish, but still not a lot of vegetables. If you like meat and seafood, this is the place to go. If you're hungry and want to leave stuffed, this is the place to go. Excellent service. Nice clean bathrooms. Nice decor. It made me feel like I was on vacation.
I’ve visited plenty of Cuban restaurants since moving here from South Florida, so I came in with clear expectations. The food here was genuinely enjoyable and honestly more flavorful than I anticipated. My first visit was to treat my staff, and I left impressed enough to return again, and then once more with my family. Unfortunately, the customer service did not match the quality coming out of the kitchen. Both return visits were overshadowed by the same server, Gaby. Each time, her attitude felt rude and dismissive. More than once, she walked away while I was speaking, left us waiting at the table while she sat and talked with another group, and came back with a noticeably passive-aggressive tone, even after I asked for a different server. I initially brushed it off as a one-time situation, but after two visits it seemed to be a consistent pattern in how she interacted with my family. It’s disappointing because the food itself makes you want to support this place, and I truly hoped it would become a regular spot for us. Would I love to come back? Absolutely. Will I? Probably not, at least not until the service improves.
My family and I were passing through Buford and stopped at this vegetarian-friendly Cuban restaurant. The guac was honestly the best I’ve ever had — and the vegetarian lo mein was also delicious. However, things took a turn when the rest of our food arrived. The skirt steak was so tough it was difficult to cut, and the Enchilado de Vegetales tasted overwhelmingly like hot sauce and was inedible. The manager handled the situation professionally and helped us swap our meals, which we really appreciated.
The experience overall was alright. The Cuban food unfortunately is not it neither is the cortadito. The service was okay too. Bathrooms were not in the best condition either one sink was not working and one toilet was damaged. I appreciate their efforts and hard work. Is okay as a one time thing but I wouldn’t go again.
Writing this review is not easy, as Mambo’s has been one of my husband’s and my favorite restaurants since it first opened in Buford. We often bring visiting family here because we genuinely enjoy the cuisine and atmosphere. For that reason, our experience on December 26th was especially disappointing. We took our son and his family to dinner, unfortunately, several dishes did not meet their standard. Out of the five meals ordered, three fell short: the churrasco was dry and lacking flavor, the fried pork (masas de puerco) dish was overcooked, and the lomo saltado had an unusually gummy texture. This was surprising and unlike what we have come to expect from a restaurant we know so well. When we shared our concerns, the situation was not handled as smoothly as we had hoped. While the server tried to help, the overall response felt limited. We later spoke with the manager, Michael, and although an effort was made to offer a dessert or a gift card, the interaction lacked the empathy and understanding we were hoping for, given how important this family dinner was to us. We understand that off nights can happen, even at great restaurants. However, we left feeling more disappointed by how the situation was addressed than by the food itself. We truly hope this feedback is taken in the spirit intended, as we would like nothing more than to see Mambo’s return to the level of quality and care that made it our favorite place for many years.
There was a spider in my ceviche!! I wanted to try it out because I was craving Peruvian food decided to come to this restaurant. It took my server 15 minutes for her to attend us. I understand she was busy however I was trying to make contact with every person that worked there and still nothing I ordered three dishes. The first one was the ceviche which had a spider in it. I didn’t get a picture of the small black spider it had bc i was shocked & wanted to throw up. 🤢 thank God I looked at my plate before I ate it. The manager did take the playoff and offered me a different dish. However, I was disgusted at the fact that there was a spider so I didn’t order anything else. Hopefully it doesn’t happen to anyone else.
