Love this hidden away place, so worth the trip! Small, but mighty good stage and sound system. Friendly, always busy and nice prices on drinks . I look forward to going back!
Cynthia made fresh homemade chili beans - was the bomb! And I'm a critical cook. Hospitality was genuine and down to earth. The IPA called "Distortion" was a good beer on tap. Definitely a good little hideaway bar. Jae
Great blues on Sundays, friendly staff, easy parking and beautiful Kagal Canyon. No cover but tip your musicians well, please. What's not to love?? Highly recommend.
Karaoke on Friday nights. Hidden Gem!!
This place is a hidden gem. It has all you would expect from a full bar but so much more. It has been open since 1917, I was told. It has a rustic backwoods vibe. With a killer outdoor covered patio that has 3 seperate sections. Covered with kool plants and a garden. There is a pool table with plenty of space surrounding it in the back. There is a dance floor in another separate area where they do kareoke on Wednesdays. They have live bands on every weekend. Thats Friday &Saturday night, then at 4pm on Sundays. They get a total mix of customers from bikers, to cowboys&gals, to locals, and the few that stumble into the kool place. Its located on a bitchen canyon and if you drive to fast you miss it cause it is litterly, hidden on a lower level between residents. You gotta check it out, its got tons of kool memorvillia from western and beyond. They even have groovy food service like sliders, tacos, ect. And hot waitress that are fun to chat with. They even have a saying, something like, " Ride your bike, Bring your Horse, and if you don't got one of them, just bring you, lol.
Delicious burgers. Very homely and comfortable place. The lady that took our order and served us made us feel like we've known her forever....! A must visit.
I have to tell you something about this bar for the first time I went in a personal friend took me there and I was impressed with the food for a bar they have the best food best soup on great service and I love the outdoor patio Lora the bartender excellent service great hospitality you need to try the crispy tacos excellent tacos excellent service A+ to the owner keep Lora working there
great drinks, cool decor western n halloweenish (I visited in October), lots of eclectic funny signs, live bands, stage, billards, darts, jukebox, outdoor patio, 3 rooms (bar, danceroom w/ stage, & large game area),free parking, & area to tie your horse... tucked away
Great local dive. Cheap drinks, home made soup, interesting crowd. Live music on the weekends. great patio space. Whats not to like.
The staff here really hustles(in the best way). They remember faces and treat everyone as if they're a family friend. Not uncommon to see a "famous" face or two whom just want to have a good time at a regular bar and that's exactly what the atmosphere delivers. Love this place for pitchers and pool with friends and karaoke. Their back porch is great for a smoke or just hanging out. I will always stop by if I'm in the area!
It’s a western style dive bar with a great atmosphere. The server was great and very attentive. Would love to go back for another round of drinks!!!
GORGEOUS location!! My guy friend took me on an afternoon motorcycle ride there, after a friend of ours recommended a bowl of their chili (they have burgers and other bar food also). The place is like an old mountain country saloon... On a beautiful creek, off a winding road. It really is a neat location. When we got off the bike an employee came and told us the bar wasn't going to be open until much later in the afternoon- because they were having some work done inside... We were disappointed, but thanked her anyway. We were just about to take off on the bike, when the owner came out. We told her we were leaving, on acct of the construction- but had came on account of trying some of her homemade chili, we had heard about... She agreed that we wouldnt be able to go inside- but told us she would be happy to serve us on the patio, if we wouldn't mind. We didn't!! She brought us chili with sides of crackers, onions, and grated cheese- and 2 rounds of cold beer. Chili was great. She sat with us for a minute... Either her, or her daughter make it themselves. Very good. Just spicy enough. The hospitality and location made me feel like I had gone back in time, only instead of horses- motorcycles! Great experience. Great place. I highly recommend it!!
It’s like having cocktails in your living room (With intellectuals). This cozy corner of the universe is exactly perfect. The locale, the people, the vibe… everything. Timothy Leary once said, “Tune out, tune in, drop out.” The Hideaway is more, tune out (a little) and tune (a lot) in to an amazingly kind and welcoming experience. A zillion thumbs up!
This place is great. Shrimp tacos from the guy outside were to die for! Really friendly staff and they have the Dodger game on!
I love this little hidden bar! I need to visit more often. Owner is so sweet!
I dj'd here last week. The vibe is great. Reminds me of an old country bar. Cynthia the owner was awesome.
Very friendly dive bar with good food and entertainment... if you want the Ritz... go there... if you want the "Hideaway"... come here! Nestled in the hills this is a hidden gem! Great place to hitch your horse (or motorcycle)!
WHAT A GEM! Been trying to have a drink at this place for years (was understandably closed during covid), and me and some buds were finally able to check it out. The owner is super sweet. and the bar that right kind of old and divy. Just like I dig em'
Great place buried in the woods where you're far enough away yet everybody knows you name. Staff is great. Epitomy of nostalgia and weekend BBQ's.
The service is amazing. The food Fantastic And it's a nice place to relax after a few runs.
Small, casual bar that is hidden in the upper valley. Good live music and bar regulars dancing and having a great time. 1 pool table.

So where do I start, the atmosphere great, the owner funny as ever and very friendly, the hideaway beer omg the best you got to try it!!!. History of the place is interesting if you could look it up before you go, you'll definitely like it more. When you go, take a walk around. The horses are a bonus when they do ride in.
Awesome 107-year-old country tavern hidden way back in the mountains.
Come for the atmosphere and location! Karaoke Friday nights starting at 7:30pm! Such a cool spot with plenty of seating, a pool table, a stage for live music, a really nice patio, cheap beer, and in a really cool part of the foothills. It feels like you're in a mountain town even though you're barely up Kagel Canyon. They don't stay open late because business hasn't been great since the pandemic. Go here and support to change that! It's such a cool vibe and they just need some cool clientele.
We are a family from Ukraine and we explored the surroundings of LA and found this bar, which is over 107 years old. Here we tried the most delicious burgers 🍔, juicy wings, tasty fries, and amazing draft beer. Thank you very much for the warm welcome!
My favorite bar I was taken to while on vacation here🍻. Beautiful place to relax. Cynthia is awesome and I loved hearing her stories, a once in a lifetime experience🩷. We will be back for Thanksgiving!
this is literally the best bar i have ever been to. that was my opinion before they owner came out to introduce herself and offer us homemade chili on the house. this is the best bar in the world

Never has the name of a place correctly identified its location so well. Nice bar to have drinks at but would strongly recommend a designated driver, especially if not local; Winding single lanes in the canyons.
Small bites menu. Pool table. Live music. Outdoor patio area. Great beer selection. Place to park your horses nearby. In a residential area. ....cool setting.
It's literally a small dive bar in the Foothills but it's still our favorite bar. The staff are VERY friendly. We spoke to the owner at length and she and bartender couldn't have been nicer.
Very cool bar. Interesting decor. Staff very friendly and will happily suggest some great drinks if you're not sure what you want.
This is truly a "hideaway!" A fun "divey" bar with space for live music. I heard someone say it had been there since 1917- I don't know if that's true, but you can absolutely imagine it as a prohibition era joint, hidden way up in the canyon. The parking lot is small and tricky if there are a lot of cars there. The crowd seemed fun, mostly appeared to be people in their 40's thru 60's and perhaps regulars? People were dressed casually and dancing to the band. It felt like most of the people there knew each other. They didn't have a huge selection of beers on tap, but the options were good. a draft will run you $6. I didn't see a food menu, but it did look like they have a kitchen, I would guess they have standard bar fare. Overall, it was fun, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to get there- but for people who live near by, this would be a nice little joint to grab a drink from time to time.
I lived in Sylmar for over a year and never stepped foot in here. Until one night when I did! And I had the time of my life! The bartender gal was super cool and so kind, she made me her favorite drink after I asked a customer of hers what she recommended. I had so much fun, that I hadn't noticed that I locked myself out of my car. Leaving the keys in there. Luckily, everyone was so cool and the bartender the same one, volunteered to stay a little past closed til I could get someone from AAA to come rescue my but. Thank you HIdeaway Bar & Grill I would highly recommend anyone looking for some local bar feel and learn about the history of the place when you are there! I'll be back sometime again!
Great little spot hidden away from the highway. I never saw a menu but the drinks were very good. Nice inside and out where you are allowed to smoke where every where else surrounding the place is a no smoking zone.
Cool place with a great atmosphere. It's a fun place with cool patrons! Stop by and catch a drink or a bite to eat and then dance off those extra calories. Ha!!! You won't be let down! Enjoy!
Can’t say about food, didn’t have any! But it’s my local bar and don’t have far to get home, so it’s perfect!
Quaint little spot that makes you believe your not in Kansas anymore. Lots of locals. Great waitress. Friendly. Great live music.

Came here for a quick late night beer. We waited a while for service which was disappointing. It was busy, but there were two bartenders. Besides the ok service it's a pretty chill bar with live music.
Neighborhood bar with lots of country style. Average crowd of kid's in the age range of 50 plus. No fast lane here just come over...relax and grab a beer.
Sucks they close early! It was once a great place to go to and enjoy some beer and pretzels after work. Forgot the old bar tenders names but they were awesome and kept the place flowing
Lots of personality in this place. It's basically a neighborhood bar and Both kinds of music are loved here. Country and western!

It's ok to hang out for a bit. A chill place.. Full bar but only one waitress/bartender/cook/hostess, etc. . So if you're not in a hurry, then it's a good place to chill. Food is your typical home Cooked tacos and burgers. Nothing extra. Too much money for Something I can cook at home. The times I've gone is mostly empty
In sorry but the atmosphere and service of the restaurant do not make up for the food. We ordered that alaskan crab appetizer, which was good on its own, but they put it on a wonton taco, and that ruined the while dish. It was the same for the tuna tartar, the dish was great without the wonton chips. Our last appetizer was the sashimi, which was drenched with sauce like a cheap americanized sushi spot. For entrees were ordered the 6 oz filet... nothing terrible about it, nothing great about it. We also ordered the tableside newyork waygu. Thetr was no tableside "action." I'm completely bewildered and why they just brought it already dont to our table? Why call it a tableside entree? Then it was just $150 dpwn the drain, as the majority of the meat was rubber. They didnt render any of the fat. Chefs need to get replaced. Would never come back here again. Its a stain on the communities high standards.

The hours on maps is incorrect. They are closed Monday and Tuesday and open later on the weekends. Great casual neighborhood bar.
I was there for my friends birthday party. It was semi crowded. Sat at the bar for 10 minutes or so and the owner/bartender never once asked me if i wanted anything to drink and no eye contact either. She fired the best bartender Laura she will ever have. I don't go there anymore. It's such a shame. Oh and there's a really bad mildew smell in the hallway near the mens room out to the patio. She should have that checked. One more thing... Her pool sticks are awful. They need to be replaced or fixed. Good luck.
Trash!!! So a friend recommended this place, and I went to check it out last night. Just to give you a little info, Im in need of a venue that small but has character where I can have a well known band play some tones. I would of loved to rent this whole place out but due to the ugly/nasty bartender (Sunday night around 5PM) I will never step foot in this place again!!! & will be sure to inform all of my colleagues..... She was unprofessional and extremely rude! She needs to be fired because if she's suppose to be representing a brand and if thats how they conduct business I don't want any part of it!!!
At lot of fake local guides giving reviews here who couldn't find Kagel Canyon on a map. Like the guy from NJ who gave a glowing review during the time the bar was closed due to the pandemic. The bar is nothing special, drinks are expensive, and food is lousy. Hardly anyone here during the week. On weekends when there are bands, you can see middle aged ponytailed hippies, urban cowboys and other dorks who never grew up whooping it up. At the end the band keeps playing, though almost everyone went home to catch up on nap time. Latest update: It seems the city revoked the permit for live music because of violations and disturbing the coyotes in the canyon.
All the reviews I see here are from local guides who couldn't find Kagel Canyon on a map. It is just like any bar, nothing special about it.
