I love Tommy's chili cheese burgers. Great for a cheat day. The fat delicious fries one up In n Out. Want to try something different? Try a Tommy's chili cheese breakfast burrito! Puts the other breakfast burritos to shame. Sorry no photos I ate it to fast
There’s an employee named Monica, if you visit this place and she’s there you scored. I was behind a guy who claimed to be “rushed”, people are not patient anymore. I mean come on, it’s called fast food for a reason.
Still the same great classic chili burgers! Although I can't scarf them down like when I was in high school, I still enjoy 'em... with a more modest approach (learned that everything does not need extra chili 😱😅). A couple of new burgers on the menu I haven't tried, plus all the original, they still check all the boxes.
Fast and friendly service! Was told about the special they had which was a really good deal. Ashe was attentive and professional.
Classic comfort food. Chile tamale is my go to choice. Husband usually orders a chili dog with no bun Plus french fries and a soda. It's all good add a few yellow Chili Peppers and grab plenty of napkins and you are fed. This location in Burbank has outdoor seating only
Had a craving for a breakfast burrito with extra chili and some chili cheese fries and it was the best I have had for sure. Forgot to take pictures because I was so hungry.!
For my papa's celebration of life we shared his favorite youth spot with friends an enjoyed a quick bite. Food is great, just a little longer than usual considering only 5 ppl ordering
Joel give me and Excellent service he was very helpful and excellent customer service.
Still doing it the way they have since 1946. Great ambience and only outdoor seating. Don't try to eat any of the chili items in your car and drive at the same time! Just an FYI no restrooms.
Tommy's is one of the best places to grab a burger. You can add chili cheese to basically every item on the menu and it'll taste twice as good. The only bad thing is the small staff so you'll usually have to wait in line.
If you live in Southern California chances are you have been to Tommy's. Great chili burgers, hot dogs and fries. No charge for extra chili. Not the healthiest place to eat but sometimes you just have to have a chili burger and chili fries. If you haven't tried this place yet, you have to go.
Thank you for the blast from the past remaining in its original state. This used to be the ultimate hang out spot. Have not been since at least 2013 being that I reside in another state now. Top notch!!
When I have The Crave for chili cheese burger and chili cheese fries, make that the double cheese burger....please and root beer....the only place for me...is The Original Tommy's ;). If I can't get to the one on Rampart (the Original original) ...I head to this one ;) Fast, friendly service, place to sit and eat comfortably and easy parking. I can't express enough how much I love Tommy's ;) !!!!
Awesome quality service, great food, fast and friendly staff as well as very little waiting time. Outside seating only. I like getting the chilli cheese burger combo and enjoy during lunch time seating on a bench enjoying the day and once I finish there is always a staff that comes around picking up your empty plate and taking care of taking it to the trash before you even know it. very friendly and fast service
First time trying on Christmas night when no where was open and I was left very impressed! Very fresh and yummy! The thousand island dressing was amazing. Highly recommend, definitely worth a try!
The workers there are very nice and helpful. They made me feel welcomed. Will definitely come back again if I am in the area
My husband loves and enjoys Tommy's Burgers however, he said he does not like the location and it's building situation lacks in appearance. The food is fantastic and is happy there is a Tommy's in Burbank where his parents reside to eat at when he visits. There is no inside dining; there are only a few outside tables to eat at. Parking is HORRIBLE and occasionally have to park within the Carl's Jr. parking lot next door. The establishment was previously an old Der Weiner-Schnitzel" A-Frame building with the red roof and lacks in appearance as I stated earlier. The lot itself is too small for Tommy's to even consider rebuilding on. Also, the price for a meal has increased substantially. A double cheeseburger Combo (with fries and medium drink) is now $12.95!!! On a more positive note, employee customer service was good (friendly) and the wait time to receive the food order for take out was within five minutes or less. The food is tasty but the building lacks in appearance which could hurt potential customers.
Juanita and her crew are the best! Always helpful knowledgeable and so friendly! I unfortunately witnessed an an happy customer ahead of me but she handled herself like a pro! Willing to make it right and make the customer happy BUT there is no pleading some people.Juanita tried her best only goes to reassure me and everyone else who witnessed the incident that the all of them go above and beyond for their customers A++++(:
I always enjoy getting messy with a chili cheeseburger. The people working are always nice and it’s a quick bite. The tables are a little cold, but they work better than trying to eat in the car.
Been going to this one for a longest time food is s always good unlike the one in Palmdale where the food is not good. I don't know why the Chili tastes bad. I and a lot of other people stopped going to the one in Palmdale. It was probably close to a year since I had a burger at Tommy's. The closest one to me is in the Santa Calrita not to convent.
There are few places in Los Angeles whose food is truly representative of the city’s history and culture than Tommy’s. Serving up a basic menu of hamburgers and dogs, all with optional chili and cheese, the place offers only a few choices that are true to the original fare. If you’re in Los Angeles, or simply traveling through, you owe it to yourself to stop and get one of their chili burgers. It’s a moral imperative.
Nothing can compare to the original Tommy's location, but this one is one of the best. The food always smells and tastes fresh. Customer service is excellent. The only downside is that there is no restroom, so come empty (or you can use the restrooms that are the Carl's Jr right next to Tommy's. Not that I condone doing that, but just a tip). Anyways, rest assured that if you are in Burbank, this Tommy's location will serve your burger needs.
Food is Great! Love the chilli covered tamale more than anything!!!
Fun, nostalgic place to get a chili burger (or no chili if you must 😋). Limited menu, but lots of options and Pepsi products to drink. For those who grew up here it's a long time favorite. For newbies like me it's a fun discovery.
chili cheese fries are wholesome n delicious. I think best in LA. the cheeseburger with cheese n chili is the best burger experience. been going to tommys since 1980. consistent food that never changes. great place.
Honestly one of the reasons I come down to LA from the Bay Area is just for the chili cheese food in Tommy's. Nowhere else can you find good fast food chili cheese burgers. You guys have to open up a restaurant in the Bay!!
It's all about the chili at Tommy's. Whether you are there for a burger, a hot dog, or even a tamale...what you are really there for is the chili that is layered on it all. The chili is always warm, satisfying, and delicious. Is it greasy? Yes. Is it sloppy? Yes. Is it worth it? HELL YES. I personally go for the classic chili cheeseburger with chili cheese fries combo, be honestly anything smothered in that Tommy's chili is so good that you won't go wrong getting anything on their menu. Maybe even take some chili "to go" and enjoy it on some of your food at home.
Always an excellent burger! Polite staff and fast service every single time I order from here.
I have been eating at Tommy's since 1972. It is as unhealthy as back then but I still enjoy it. This is for burger lovers. I also enjoy the chili and if you want overkill, get an order of chili cheese fries. So delicious!
The cashier was amazing he deserves a huge raise
Awesome service funny cashier loved the food
Cashier handling my order was polite and helpful. Staff was cleaning up and wiping down counters and tables, providing a clean and tidy environment. Food is always good here, double chili cheeseburger with fries and a drink. Good job!
Hi, This isn't the first time I've left feedback. I wanted to commend a new person at Tommy's, his name is Ashe. He's a good young man, very professional, good listener, and always repeats my order to make sure my order is correct and it is always perfect. Thank you very much, Richard
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to have one of these burgers for many years. They only exist as far as I know in southern california. And i'm looking forward to going back one day to get some of this delicious food
Good prices, great food (everything comes with chili added).
Great place to get reliably good chili burgers at any time of the day. Staff is always friendly and service is efficient even during peak customer hours. Great location and experience.
Acquired taste(this is my MUST go in the LA area) , a must if you like chili on your Hamburgers or hot dogs. Gotta deal with messy burgers. If you don't like that, don't go here. The Original location is at Beverly & Wilshire. A few other locations throughout Los Angeles area, like this one in Burbank. Food is consistent at all locations
Exactly the same as it was in the 90s when I lived in Burbank! Delicious as always 😋
If you know, you know. Tommys is famous for there various chili slathered things.
The cashier was very nice and polite, and the cook who made the burgers was very fast. I’m really happy with this Tommy’s.
LA’s top burger if you like w chilly! Yum!!
Original Tommy’s in Burbank absolutely delivers if you’re craving classic, no-frills comfort food. The place has that old-school burger joint vibe where you know exactly what you’re getting—and that’s a good thing. It’s loud, busy, and unapologetically messy in the best way possible. I ordered the double chili cheeseburger, and it did not disappoint. The patties were juicy, the cheese melted perfectly, and the chili tied everything together with that signature Tommy’s flavor—rich, savory, and a little indulgent. It’s definitely a “grab extra napkins” kind of burger, but that’s part of the experience. The chili cheese fries were just as good, loaded with chili and cheese from top to bottom so every bite hit. The fries held up well under all that goodness and didn’t turn soggy, which is key. Overall, if you’re in Burbank and want something filling, satisfying, and classic, Original Tommy’s is a solid choice that lives up to the hype. 🍔🍟
Great food- the staff is very friendly and the chili is absolutely fantastic! Great place to eat for one or with a large group, can’t beat it
Repost from A yelp review I wrote: Original Tommy's is absolutely a must-visit to experience the LA late-nite food scene. It is unique to say the least. The original in Hollywood at Beverly and Rampart is the mecca, but this location rocks the classic menu when you are in Glendale/Burbank and need a fix. For any true food lover, this will be a category by itself. ! They feature a limited, but creative menu that they will do their best to make your burger 'your way. the fries are to die for as well. No alcohol, there is a dive bar across the street for that though. The eclectic atmosphere in line will be a story to tell as well. A true LA original. Original Tommy's Restaurant in Burbank, CA
Here is the Chili Dog with grilled onions topped with all the garnishments. Absolutely delicious? Add the Yellow peppers and WOW, what a combination. Tommy’s has been a staple in Los Angles for as long as I can remember. If you wish to experiment: Get the Chili cheese fries with grilled onions and all the toppings.
You know that one customer that shows up at the final minute placing a ridiculous order? Yeah, I was that customer. Luckily, Irwin and the staff at the Burbank location of Tommy’s were so accommodating and welcome, that they gained a new customer. One that will try not to arrive in the final hour.
I stopped by this Original Tommy burger place this morning because I saw their Instagram reel deal on the Double Classic California burger. I was already across the street getting something for my parents so it just made sense to stop by here. I came in the morning so finding parking in the back parking was easy since I came right when they open. I showed the person taking my order the Instagram reel and he honored the price. I also got French fries on the side to finish my order. It didn't take long for my order to be ready and I left to eat it at home. They have some seating here if you're planning on eating here. I thought my burger was delicious but the fries seem very plain. Usually the fries are good here but it was plain today.
Visited Saturday 9:20 p.m. Cool places like this make the burger/ dine in fast food experience more memorable. You pull up and enjoy a good bite outdoors. I ordered a Bacon Chili Cheese Burger (pictured) Chili Cheese fries 🍟 (pictured) & a Medium Manzanita Sol soda (pictured) I wish they offered the fries in a larger size like the hat does so they're more shareable. Everything tastes great. They forgot the cheese on my burger but I'll let it slide. Parking is limited to around 10 spots including street which may get tight but I'm sure the Carl's Jr. Parking can be used as well (just pay attention to tow away signs)
LOVE the chili cheese burger, chili cheese fries. It's not for sensitive stomachs though. It can cause heartburn and is pretty greasy. I couldn't eat it every day. The only reason I give it a 4 instead of a 5 is because it doesn't have a public bathroom and seating is only outdoors. Their parking lot is small, but we sometimes use the Carl's Jr. Lot next to it.
Food (chili burgers) were good but inconsistent. We went there 2 times during our visit and one day there was less chili on the burger than our 1st visit! Chili was delicious, btw! And chili cheese fries too!! Order at window and sit outside.
Nothing takes the place of a good Tommy burger. But the portions have decreased in size and the prices have gone WAY up. Not the value it used to be.
Loves me some Tommy's! The Burbank location only gets 4 stars though, because they are NOT open 24hrs. I mean, come on! Everyone knows Tommy's tastes best between 2am and 7am... what the hell are they thinking? Nevertheless, Tommy's is awesome!
This location is just okay. It would be three stars, but the food is consistently good like most Tommy's locations. What I don't like is the dilapidated dining area: --Concrete tables and benches that are cracked, uneven, and mostly unlevel. --No indoor seating, all outdoors regardless of rain, wind, or temperature. --No drive thru, so I have to park and stand outside by the busy street. Overall, good Tommy's that could be remodeled to bring it into the 21st century!
Got here at 10am, it's pretty fresh with outdoor seating only. Employees are really nice. Service seems a bit slower than other Tommy's I've been to but it's still a great place to come.
Friendly and quick service. The parking lot is tiny and easily fills up at lunch and dinner rushes. Went for BOGO chili cheeseburgers. There was at least 3-5 orders already placed and another 3-5 waiting to place their ordera before me. Still only waited 10-15 minutes. My custom order was cooked correctly as well. No onions, no pickles and extra chili. There was actually extra chili. Hood portion size. The patty was cooked nicely. They even included peppers when I didnt ask for them.
This place is greasy (no way) but man it is so good. I usually come here once a year to remember my dad. It was our favorite place to come together. Let's not pretend like there's anything healthy but they aren't either. Come here for some amazingly delicious chili burgers/hot dogs/fries. Good, cheap and quick. What else do you want from this kind of place?
I was pleased to find that the hamburger was not only delicious but also a decent size. The fries were another success story, with a salt level that was just right. Going with the number 1 was a good call.
Great Burgers and Fry's. They need to add the Lowery Seasoning Salt for the French Fries. Atmosphere is Old and getting older. I just do the drive-thru now. Prices are high.
I grew up on Tommy’s Burgers . The best Chili burgers in the World . I moved to Sacramento 35 years ago . When I visit Southern California we always eat and bring back Tommy’s Burgers for my kids . Burbank Tommy’s gets mad when you order 10 Double cheese burgers right when they open . Tujunga , Eagle Rock and the Original one never do .
Idk, the hype seems too high for this place. The burger was incredibly average, the fries, thoroughly mid. The price, nothing to write home about. The people serving though were GREAT!
Check your order, consistently wrong!
Burger was amazing. I can't argue with that, but the fries were too dry and could have added salt. Overall amazing
I *love* Tommy's chili burgers, and have been going to the original location on Beverly Boulevard for decades. By comparison, this location was rather disappointing. Stuff was super courteous, but the burgers just didn't seem as good as they normally do at the original location. And this Burbank location didn't quite feel like the safest location to be at at night.
Although I haven't been to this restaurant chain in years, I wasn't missing much. I ordered a double chili burger combo and was very disappointed by the actual meal. The burger meat was almost paper thin and had very little distinction from a burger I could make at home. The drink was ok, but was FAR too expensive. The fries were also overpriced for what they gave, and the overall meal was extremely disappointing. I was looking forward to the meal the whole day, but was sorely mistaken by assuming it was going to be, at a minimum, a filling meal. But at least it only cost $14.94 to figure out I should avoid Tommy's from now on.
I ordered the triple Burger about $8 and twenty something cents . There was no way to eat the burger with just your hands ( a lot of chili with beans) but it did not come on a styrofoam bowl or a plate No fork or knife There was very little flavor in either the chili or the burgers the definitely did not taste charbroil to me and the meat was very Bland even the chili was especially Bland that was surprising. and also the patties were advertised at being a quarter pound if they were more like an eighth of a pound per Patty. Two ladies working there were friendly and nice though. I'll do better next time with a triple western bacon cheeseburger at the Carl's jr. Next door which I can get for about $11 including the fries and drink
Food is good but is expensive for what you get. They then overcharge you and then gaslight you that you ordered it, when you question why a hamburger, hot dog and fries are 30 dollars. They then say you ordered it. If I'm going to spend $30 on food, there's plenty of sit down places to go to. However if you are a tourist in town, I would say to try it, but not at the Burbank location. Plenty of Tommy's nearby to try their food out
I am a great fan of Tommy's and I went out of my way to visit this location in Burbank. Unfortunately, this location was terrible. The staff seemed to be improperly trained. Every customer's orders were incorrect. The food was luke warm at best. The outdoor seating area was dirty and no available napkins. Corporate office needs to pay this location a visit and make some serious corrections.
It's not like the others. There buns are smaller and they're very tight with the chili even when you ask for extra it still doesn't fall out the sides of the buns and that's not a Tommy's burger . If you ask for easy chili they give you about a teaspoon, no joke. It had been over a year since we been to this location which is about 3 miles from us and we quickly remembered why we don't go there and will not return.
Yes i came out from work I went to tommy burgers I ordered one doble burger extra chili. An a regular chili burger. one no chili for my wife the old lady that was cooking the burger started insulting me calling me stupid f-b en throw hut food in my face through the window en also harassing me threatening me I am berry disappointed I been a costumer every since 1980s I remember my mom brought me to this place to eat en I love ❤️ it now the tommy burgers that I now are not what their just to be the two lady's should get fire for no been loya respectful en polite to their costumer I don't now if should law sue the restaurant or the lady's ho was cooking my burger ho insult me en burn me with the food never coming to this place if this two lady en the guy work their berry unprofessional I been a cook for years I now some time you got to be a listener to understand you're costumer becost you're costumer are the future of the property of the business.
Yes Tommy's chili is what you come for. But the outdoor seating can be dirty at times and not really ideal. Also their prices seems higher than normal. Rather go next door to Carl's Jr cause of the prices. This Tommy's is good for once in a while but I can't see myself going regularly with better deals elsewhere. Update: ordered 6 burgers and three came without chili, the chaisher thought said no chili. I told her she was wrong. I didn't want them to just take the burgers back only to throw them away, that would be a waste. Another customer suggest that they should just give me a small portion on the side. The manage said no. All they had to do to make it right was give me a tiny portion of chili on the side. Other customers agreed it wasn't right. Won't be going back for a long time.
Buyer beware! Sadly found out that the other reviews of this location are true yesterday. Decided I wanted to see for myself and indeed the chili recipe has changed, it has an odd spice that I cannot name but is not the same one I came to love. It seems the ownership of this location may have changed, that just my assumption. I ordered a number 4 with chili cheese fries and am sad that I did. It was not as I had remembered. I ordered a Pepsi but got a root beer, had to ask him to try again. No service with a smile rather an angry man more interested in chastising the two cooks inside than taking my order.
Today 12 /18/2025 @4:40pm Usually, I’m never complained but today the way the cashier treated me unacceptable rude very rude!!!!! very unhappy with the service.
3 times in a row they have forgot to give me one of my items I ordered and had to drive back…
Tommy's really fell off didn't they. First of all they wouldn't accept a 5 dollar bill I had because it was too old. Even though it sins have rips or folds in it? Is that even legal? I have to break a 20 in order to get my food. And the server was a complete jerk. On top of that the hamburger tasted a little weird and my mom said her hot dog was not edible. I used to love that place. Now I'll just have to wait in line at In N Out like everyone else. Thumbs down
I'm extremely disappointed and let down with this location. 3 items were fully wrong including my daughter's. This was an online order so there's no reason for any misunderstanding.
If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. My husband ordered TWO chili burger meals to-go, and when we got home we realized one of the fries was missing. He had to drive all the way back — wasting more time and gas — just to get the fries we ALREADY paid for. When he got there, the staff had the nerve to ask for a receipt, like we didn’t just give them our business minutes earlier. We asked if they could at least provide a small side of chili for the inconvenience, and the manager flat-out refused. That’s pathetic customer service. And it’s not even the first time this has happened — the last time they forgot a side of chili. Clearly they don’t care about their customers or making things right. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere that values its customers, because this place clearly doesn’t. Their customer service is garbage.
WHERE'S THE BEEF!!!!, you ask? Oh, it’s buried somewhere under a mountainous pile of lettuce at Tommy’s Famous Burgers—because who needs protein when you’ve got greens, right? This place was an absolute delight—if by "delight" you mean a sad, lettuce-drenched tragedy. If you're in the mood for a salad that just pretends to be a burger, congratulations, you’ve found your culinary nirvana. Honestly, I can’t even fathom how this place got its “famous” status, unless it’s for breaking records in burger patty paper-thinness. The patty was so thin, I half-expected to see through it. I’m talking ghost patty thin. The cheese? Oh, bless its heart—it was thicker than the actual meat. And that tomato? Somehow it became the most substantial thing in the burger. Who knew a humble tomato would outshine a burger in its own burger? But the true star of the show was the lettuce, obviously. At some point, I had to double-check if I was in a salad bar or a burger joint. The lettuce seemed to have staged a coup and was trying to overthrow every other ingredient in the sandwich, suffocating everything with its leafy dominance. As for the flavor? Lettuce, with a hint of tomato. It was like chewing on a garden, with only a whiff of meat trying to remind you of its existence. But hey, let’s give credit where credit’s due: the fries were actually fantastic, like they were the only thing keeping the whole operation from falling apart. And speaking of speed, the service was so fast it was like they knew their “burger” couldn’t stay together for more than a couple of seconds. They probably just threw it together in a rush—who can blame them? That patty was practically air. And at $34 for two burgers and fries, I think I just paid the world’s most expensive lettuce sandwich. Never again, Tommy. Next time I crave a "burger," I’ll make sure it’s not a leafy disappointment with a side of regret.
