Friendliest coffee shop I've ever been to. Large outdoor seating area (in the shade - great in summer) for temperate weather. Almost always busy, lots of table space to plop down the laptop and do some study/work/surf. Good selection of breakfast items, sandwiches and snacks to go along with the coffee and cold drinks.
Loved the vibe. The passion fruit tea and hot coffee were too good. The croissants were delicious and well made. Would go there again for breakfast.
such a cute place to come and study/work. great experience coming in after not being in for so long. they were sold out of twist i wanted but the barista was so kind in offering other options and letting me know when to come back when it’s in stock! also was informed with the rewards app and all the benefits! the vibes here are a 10/10.
Placed an order online this morning for coffee and four "Plant-Based Everything" breakfast sandwiches. Thank you for offering such a fantastic vegan option for breakfast that isn't a plain bagel or oatmeal! Can't wait to be back!
This is absolutely the most hipster type coffee joint I've ever stopped into, and the staff inside was world class. Extremely friendly, willing to have a little morning chat, making recommendations, and prompt service. I'm not much of a coffee drinker in general, but any time I'm catching a train in the morning, I'll be stopping in here.
The best place for coffee in the west suburbs. Almond croissant is amazing. Just wish it was easier to get here. Parking is limited and train tracks cause a lot of congestion. But the staff is awesome and do their jobs well.
I have been here several times to either grab a coffee or get some work done. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Definitely a great place to stop in for a coffee and snack.
We enjoyed the best espresso drinks ever! It was so to have a well-made coffee drink that did not have that signature SB flavor. I wish there were more of these shops on every corner. Great quality!
Great people all the time. They always say hi when you walk in. They also become aware of the "regulars", and have great memories. They always get the coffees' right, haven't had an issue. This is my lunchtime coffee stop! I'll keep on coming back, no matter the season!
holden was amazing-making drinks training and running the register-i hope he is treated as the value he is to the establishment! his work ethic and customer service was untypical!
Clean shop. Good espresso. Croissant wasn't half bad. Courteous and efficient customer service. Told me how to use the Peet's app while ringing up my order. It's a little loud but if I want quiet I can just walk across the street to the library. Hopefully they won't mind me making this my T/R hangout while my daughter's at school!
I will go out of my way to get the awesome customer service at Peet’s! Walked in and was warmly welcomed with a ‘Good morning’ the entire staff was very kind and friendly. I live behind the new Starbucks on Ogden Ave in DG...98% horrible service! Perhaps they should take a customer service class from the staff at Peet’s! Thank you for bringing me joy! Kudos!
I only went there because I had a gift card. It's kind of far from where I live. But I got some things I needed, they were nice. A bit too expensive for me to go back though but I'm sure the coffee is great!
Great place for a coffee! One of my favorite spots to meet up with new clients looking to move to Downers Grove
Love Peet's. Nice, quiet, friendly place to enjoy your favorite drink and some conversation. Staff are very nice and helpful. They have really good breakfast sandwiches and bakery items. We are regulars. ❤️
This location is in the perfect little corner across from the train. It has a lot of room to sit inside and outside. I had the more recent plant based sandwich and the oat horchata and they were both delicious. The sandwich was a little small and pricey but I'm happy they have incorporated more plant based options. The baristas/cashiers have always been very friendly and quick. Good spot to get some work done or even read if it's not too busy.
Just had coffee. This is across the street from the Downers Grove Metra Station. Nice place to stop if you are a reverse commuter and need to finish a few things on your laptop before heading out. There is wifi.
So, I love espresso. I especially love good espresso made with passion and care. Starbucks and Dunkin don't give me that anymore, so I have been relying on smaller coffee shops for good espresso. Peet's does not disappoint! My iced mocha was delicious, I could taste the roasty toasty goodness of a correctly dialed in and pulled espresso shot, as well as the not too sweet flavor of the chocolate. I will definitely make the drive to have this again!
Overall a good experience. Lots of room to spread out and get some work done with lots of seating. Espresso was great with a hint of sweetness behind it. Paid a little over $3 which is reasonable. Bakery looked enticing to try out. Staff is nice and service is quick. Not a bad coffee shop if you're in downtown Downers Grove!
I was in the area and stopped here for coffee. Glad I did because it was delicious. I nice spot to relax or do work!
Very cozy and relaxing coffee spot. Tasty coffee and wonderful, friendly staff. Spacious and very clean. Wall decorations and lighting fixtures bring some tranquility yet rustic. I enjoyed sipping my coffee with their comfy seats.

I always enjoy Peet's because they get everything right. The coffee is good (unlike other places where they burn it and serve it too hot). Service goes the extra mile where staff will come out from behind the counter and talk to you and offer help. They are not chained to the drive-up window. Most importantly, for me, the atmosphere is always excellent. Peet's has a lot of space with both tables and comfy chairs. The Downer's location has a wonderful patio outside too. Sipping my drink in the outdoors is always more relaxing to me. The whole space suggests that I should get food/drink and then stay for awhile and talk with a friend. It's a place to gather. That's always a win for me.
I don’t typically post reviews but I think that what just happened deserves one. I’m starting to get into coffee and completely forgot to ask for my drink to be iced instead of hot so I went up just to ask for a cup of ice and they were so helpful and instead completely remade my drink for me and were really friendly about it all. Thank you guys!!
I’ve always loved this Peet’s! Just wanted to thank the morning crew and barista who made my sf vanilla almond milk cappucino this morning that I picked up. it was one of the best I’ve ever had! Morning crew was super kind and cheerful :)
Great place to grab a coffee. Have picked up espresso beans a few times here as well and the man was very nice and helpful about it. Quick service, good vibes, great coffee.
I wanted to share how pleasant my experience was when I ordered a vanilla latte and almond croissant. The staff was very friendly and professional and the latte and croissant were delicious. Thank You for making my Friday and I would recommend Peet's Coffee to anyone.

I love this Peet's Coffee location in Downers Grove. I have been to this location many times for meetings, both work and personal. The ambience is very welcoming, and the staff are always very respectful and efficient. I also like that they have outdoor tables, which allows for different options for folks for social distancing etc., that feel more comfortable with outdoor dining. There are, however, two small reasons I chose to give 4 stars instead of 5. One is that the prices are a little on the high side (in my opinion)- but nothing shocking for what you expect to pay at a café. I also don't like that they have a passcode on the bathrooms. I understand this is often to discourage non-paying customers (and often times, people experiencing homelessness)- to not utilize their restroom, however, I wish that public spaces, restaurants, and cafes would not put codes on their bathrooms. Otherwise, thank you!
Good robust coffee a very good alternative to the usual ones. I really like this place, free WI-FI, good coffee and friendly staff. The only drawback is the parking. It's hard to find parking in Downtown Downers Grove the police are always scanning plates and handing out tickets.
Attentive staff. Warm environment. Acceptable product. Concern for injured customer in fall hazard in outside patio area. (Jun. 6th,2025 @ noon). [I was Rescuer + others] Sgt.Rob SEMPER FI 🗽🦅🇺🇲
Great place to get good food and beverages while relaxing in a comfortable place. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
This is a nice coffee shop but the baristas are the ones that make this a good place. I had two lovely ladies help us. Got the pineapple, citrus green tea is a good drink.
Coffee was pretty good! Very welcoming atmosphere and staff! Great place to meet a friend for a coffee!

Fast service for coffee and friendly. I only order coffee here but it's always quick. They are focused on service which is nice. Better than SB. Very busy usually as well. Not much seating available usually because people camp with their computers and work. So keep that in mind if you want to sit and chat business.
The baristas do great job. ! And actually fixing coffee drinks for customers not like the competition ....price $$$wise is very similar to the competition. But it is worth to stop by if you like real coffee

I love Peets always have! This particular location has a barista named Lam that isn’t the nicest. He ignored every conversation I tried to have with him and has no customer service skills. 😞 this is my neighborhood Peets and I have to deal with that.
Big selection of ethnic foods and probably the best selection of halal meats in the area. Store is clean and well maintained. When it is busy the checkout lines are small. It is overwhelming to go there and understand the layout of the store. The aisles are very long and can feel intimidating with all the varieties.
ham sandwich was OK. Kouin Amman is a fail. It's like it was half achieved only. Nice corner area to hang out so that's cool. Just wasn't too impressed with the food. Coffee was good.
Pretty disappointed to see they were out of the vegan sandwich and about half of the others too. Organize and outside need a very thorough cleaning. Service was nice and pleasant though.

Just rude employees but really nice coffee.
I came to this place with a friend and we had a negative and pretty upsetting experience with one of the staff members. Before going to hang out at Peets, my friend got some starbucks and brought it to Peets (which it was mostly finished). We walk in and find a place to sit. I go and ask for a cup of water at the register and and the worker at the register points in the direction of where they have a free water dispenser for the customers to ise. When he told me he kinda had attitude and seemed kinda annoyed that i asked but i just didnt see it and the label on it wasnt very visible. I get my water and sit back down with my friend. After a couple of minutes the same bald worker approached us and said that he saw us walk in with starbucks and he mentioned that that we didnt buy anything yet even though we were looking over the menu and considering something. He also said that it isnt really a place to hangout even though there were a few other ppl there on computers who didnt buy anything which he did not talk to. This didnt even give us the chance to order anything and since we are young girls we were kinda shy to say anything. This may not have anything to do with it but those other people were white while my friend and i are poc. So, in conclusion we will not be returning anytime soon and we would recommend going to STARBUCKS instead if you’re in downtown downers grove. The service there is 100% better and the employees are very kind and treat us with respect. I would also like to mention that it wasnt very crowded when we walked into peets so it wasnt like we would be taking up the spots of paying customers or anything. My friend and i are young teens and we were quietly sitting on our phones and he goes out his way to kick out possible customers GO TO STARBUCKS INSTEAD (starbucks coffee doesnt taste as burnt either and some salty, white, bald guy wont come for you and kick you out for holding an empty starbucks cup of ice.)
I went with a friend that has also written a review here. We had a very negative experience so we will not be going back. There is a starbucks near this location so i grabbed a drink that i drank before arriving here and a lemon loaf that i planned on saving for later. First we started off with water since it was a hot day and then i was gonna finish the only thing leftover in my starbucks cup which was a couple ice cubes while i thought abt ordering something. While we were just sitting there on our phones some middle aged bald white worker approaches us and asks us to leave. My friend went up there to ask for some water and also said he wad kinda rude before he approached us. This made us upset that we got kicked out over a half empty starbucks cup of ice, so we didnt even get the chance to buy anything. Still mad so statbucks will forever be my #1.
This place was very nice until one of the staff. Members told me to lower my kindness to others. I don't. Respect this place anymore. Nobody's gonna tell me how to be kind to others.
Regarding Peet’s Coffee (Downtown Downers): Very upsetting experience at Peet’s today. I am always visiting friends in Chicago, so today a friend decided to visit me in Downers. I brought her to Peet’s for coffee and to see our downtown. Within 10 minutes of sitting and getting ourselves settled, the manager asked if we were waiting for someone. We kindly replied no and he said he was just checking in. I did not see him approach any other patrons. About 10 minutes later, my friend and I had decided on purchasing some waters to start, and were looking over the different coffees. The manager approached our table once more and asked if we’d be buying anything. I asked if this was a requirement, and if there was signage we’d missed and he said no, but “this is a business”, and he’s running a business so we can’t just sit here. He also informed us that “Peet’s is cracking down on college students”. (I and my friend are about 10 years post college, but thanks for the compliment) For an establishment where half of the staff is wearing political statements on their aprons, it surprises me that “cracking down on college students” and turning away those who take a little longer to pick a coffee is so high on the list of tasks. Very odd and non hospitable behavior that I wouldn’t expect of any business, yet alone a neighborhood coffee shop. I recommend visiting Starbucks across the tracks (staff is friendly and inviting), or getting on the train to Chicago for a unique, inviting cafe visit in the future. The manager has done a terrific job of making sure my business does not return.
I bought a coffee and rested for a bit at one of the tables and a worker very rudely slammed on my desk and told me to leave because I had my head down and my headphones on. There’s no written policy about sleeping or resting in the stores online. Coffee good though.
I usually love coming here for coffee and to study, it’s been a go-to spot for me. Unfortunately, my experience has me considering never coming back to this location again. I had an interaction with a staff member (didn’t catch his name, but he’s bald with tattoos) who seemed to be having a very difficult day and made sure everyone else knew it too. All I ordered was a regular latte, nothing complicated, but he was rolling his eyes at me like I asked for something outrageous, it was a very theatrical performance for a coffee shop worker taking an order (which I assume is just a standard part of his job.) From the way he was speaking to me as well as the man who ordered before me you’d think we did something terrible to offend him, however the terrible thing we did to him was come in while he was working I guess! When it was time for me to pay, I didn’t hear what he said—I thought he was just giving me the total so I started pulling out my money. Instead of repeating himself or clarifying, he just stared at me and then loudly said, “Guess not! Your total is $7,” in the most unnecessary tone. It was honestly so embarrassing and people were staring. I said I didn’t hear him, and he just rolled his eyes again and slowly repeated “your. total. is. seven. dollars,” like I was a child. It honestly ruined the whole thing for me so much that I just left after grabbing my drink and didn’t even stay to do my work like I’d planned. Being an adult (especially a grown man) usually comes with some baseline social skills. If working in customer service is too emotionally draining, perhaps it’s time to explore other options that bring you more joy—or at least don’t involve interacting with the public! We all have bad days, but as adults it’s expected that we are mature enough to leave that at home, especially when you are at work. Seems like this is unfortunately his every day personality as there are multiple bad reviews about him. 40-something year old man with the personality of a pms-ing teenage girl— how unfortunate.
This Peet’s is usually a gem: great location, good seating, and good service. However, my experience today was so disappointing! No line and no wait—I ordered the new espresso drink: “the Derby”. The barista quickly made my drink and I left before tasting it since I was in a rush. I couldn’t have been more disappointed with my drink once I did taste it after driving home: orange sweet chai tea! Not good. The reason that I am posting this review is that Peet’s customer service could not do anything to help me—just said they appreciate my feedback and will pass on the info to management. For a $6 drink on a slow day, I really expected better, Peet’s!
Rude service, owner(?) bald dude is very arrogant and gives the shop a pretentious vibe.
