What a beautiful find! So many great GF options and such an easy online menu to navigate prior to arriving, really refreshing as a coeliac :) Venison was so tender and the fish and chips was perfect, crispy but not at all oily. Had the orchard highball cocktail and was super happy with that too. Worth the travel time to see this lovely place, gardens looked amazing. 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
Great food in a lovely setting. The waitress looked after us so well. We had a lovely table for 7, with lots of light from the roof lantern. The food is good, I had a very tasty vegetarian dish.
The cutest little pub I’ve ever been! The moment you walk in everything is so beautiful and clean. The food was nice too and service was spot on. They had a beautiful garden area. Will definitely return soon!
What a beer garden!! 👏🏼 Popped into the Three Horseshoes in Asthall for a pint, they’ve got a huge walled beer garden thats fantastic with beautiful views over the windrush valley.
Beautiful pub in a very quiet village. Lovely garden area, great food.
Lovely lunch for 9 friends starting in the garden then indoors under the glass lantern. Lovely friendly team. Walked across fields from Swinbrook Swan where we were staying. Very nice indeed.
Great food, great atmosphere, great wine. Exceeded expectations. Freshly baked pizza was amazing and so was the fish and chips. Price on the high end but you get what you pay for!
We dined here for a lunch on a Thursday. Great food and great service. There is a small carpark next to the pub which needs some slightly clearer signage. Definitely worth a visit!
Randomly booked here for Sunday pizza evenings, they also had a BBQ menu too. All of the staff were lovely & the food was great. Lovely little garden at the back of the pub!
Just had the most amazing first class family celebration lunch party for 21, and the food was absolutely delicious. Hot, cooked to perfection, this service was the same for each course, the staff were well trained and amazing, it all went so smoothly - best we’ve a experienced in a very long time in the Burford area. Our family from London were very impressed indeed. Thank you Annie and the Team, this was a perfect start to our Christmas and it was certainly above and beyond our expectations. Fabulous food. Great venue. Merry Christmas to you all.
Stayed here on our honeymoon and loved it! The atmosphere is incredible, it's a beautiful place, very cozy. The food is amazing, service was 10/10, and it's nestled near so many stunning towns to do small day trips to! Would recommend to anyone!
A quintessential Cotswold pub. Great food and good beer. The outside area is a delight and just a complete 180 from the visitors attraction at the top of road leading in to Asthall
Exceptional place. Friendly and diligent service. A wonderful menu to select from although I would definitely recommend getting the pie. Prices are fair when considering the quality. The pub is located in beautiful part of the countryside so worth taking a stroll around the area
Today we went for my birthday celebration. As soon as we arrived we were met with happy friendly customer service. We started with drinks at the bar and in no way felt rushed or under any pressure to sit at our booked table. The food was superb, the wine was explained and talked through clearly regarding the choice we had made (Malbec), absolutely everything about the meal, surroundings and customer service was perfect. The 2 ladies serving were both friendly, helpful and informative. Marianne greeted us along with her colleague (sorry didn’t get her name). Fabulous experience and will definitely be back. Thank you all for making my birthday lunch as perfect as one could hope for
Dinner for 4. I've been here lots over the years and this is the 3rd incarnation of the pub. It's easily the best. A simple but varied menu gives great choice in an excellent venue. A beautiful building in a wonderful village. Excellent staff are attentive but not intrusive. The food is wonderful but well priced. An excellent choice of beer and wine. A great night. Totally recommended
What a lovely restaurant with wonderful staff. We popped here late one evening in search of some dining with our two children, despite being full to the brim the team managed to squeeze us in. My husband even got a birthday cake and a song. The atmosphere and food is great. Warm, welcoming with perfect lighting. Will go again for sure!
Really good - totally set up for good country grub and setting- lovely staff and good value!
My husband and I had the most fantastic stay. The entire staff was friendly and attentive! They truly go above and beyond for their guests without giving it a second thought. Special thanks to staff member James, who lent us his phone charger to use, as ours didn’t work. The room was cozy, spotlessly clean, and updated. The bed and pillows were divine to sleep on! We dined there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and all meals we had there were delicious and thoughtfully prepared. We would come back in a heartbeat if our travels ever bring us back to the Cotswolds.
Visited for lunch a small group on a Saturday. Small-ish menu (only one vegetarian choice), but quality was excellent. Great drinks (and low/no alcohol options), excellent atmosphere, staff all professional and kind. Some restaurants will rush you through your meal, but we didn't experience that at all here - we felt very welcomed.
Only ate here and had the lunch set menu which was great value. The food was delicious and service very good and friendly. Pretty, out of the way location so beautiful and quiet and would definitely consider staying here in future. The only thing I would suggest would be to have better signage for the car park as I missed it the first time and there is very little in the way of on street parking so you definitely want to use the car park if driving.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We were lucky enough to be fitted in as walk-ins at The Three Horses in Asthall and couldn’t believe our luck. The lunch was absolutely delicious—the roast and kids pasta was beautifully prepared and bursting with flavour. The service was impeccable from start to finish: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. It’s rare to find a place that nails both food and hospitality so perfectly. A true gem of a pub—we’ll definitely be back!
We visited for an evening meal and was blown away by the service. From the moment we walked in staff were attentive. We had 3 courses and all food was delicious. Dog friendly both inside and outside and they brought a bowl for our dog too. Highly recommend.
Absolutely super pub, fantastic food and drinks, immaculate and a great ambiance. Thank you all, especially Annie, for helping us out with a late booking for a room after the village experienced a 24 hour power outage. Our room with en-suite was exceptional, bed really cozy with quality linen and breakfast also delicious! Highly recommended!!
We just had the best time at The Three Horseshoes in Asthall! From the moment we walked in, we got such a warm welcome, which really set the tone for a lovely stay. Our room was absolutely gorgeous, with everything you could possibly need. Seriously, it was spotlessly clean, and that super comfy bed was the icing on the cake. We didn't actually have dinner there, but we definitely enjoyed the drinks! They've got a great selection, including Hawkstone lager and cider, all served up in their huge beer garden. We specifically booked knowing it was only a gentle 15-20 minute stroll from Clarkson's pub. Now, let's talk about breakfast. It was simply stunning! The coffee was spot on, and there were so many breakfast options to choose from, all made with delicious fresh, local ingredients. What a fantastic way to start the day! Honestly, if you're looking for a charming and super comfy place to stay in close vicinity to Clarksons pub, we can't recommend The Three Horseshoes enough. You won't be disappointed!
Lovely country public house with a large garden area and plenty of seating. Nice food on the à la carte menu and a great pizza oven all fairly priced. The inside of the pub was odd in that it was very clinical (white painted walls) so lacked the country pub charm.
We had a very nice lunch here, the food was fabulous and the staff were really friendly and helpful.
We had a lovely dinner here. Service and food were excellent! We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary and the pub went an extra mile by seating us next to the fire and complimenting us with a glass of Prosecco each. Our desserts were even highlighted with ‘Happy Anniversary!’. Atmosphere was perfect too. Highly recommend with excellent staff doing their very best:
We are on vacation in the area and this is truly one of best places we have found to eat. Firstly the staff are fantastic, genuinely care about your experience and just the perfect. Knowledgeable about the food, wines. I cannot praise them highly enough. A really tight front of house team. We had a big dog who is not compact and bijou but they thoughtfully sat us where he was comfortable and not a obstacle so he chilled on his blanket. The ambience is perfect, with the slightly chiĺlier autumnal nights drawing in, the wood burner was lit, candlelight and just a really chiiled out vibe. The food is amazing, I had venison which melted in the mouth and the raspberry elderflower trifle was soooo good we went back twice. Thank you for making both visits memorable for all the right reasons.
Amazing - pheasant and bacon pie and venison, both were exceptional. Lovely atmosphere and service too. Bit of a change for us as we tend to hit Gloucs Cotswolds but… we’ll be back for sure!
Excellent lunch with friends during the week. All meals, both mains and puddings were very tasty. Service was friendly and efficient, with no pressure to vacate table. Full marks, thank you.
We had a superb dinner at the three horseshoes. Cozy interior and lovely atmosphere. The food was fantastic and the staff were absolutely amazing. It was my birthday and they made it feel so special. It’s a must visit in the Cotswolds!!!
Popped in for a quick drink and ended up having Sunday Lunch, really glad we did. What a fantastic pub. Staff were really friendly and helpful, thank you Lilly and Molly. Food and drink were excellent would definitely recommend popping in if you are in the area, Clarkson Farmers Dog is round the corner, I would do a drive by and go to the three horse shoes instead.
Friendly staff, lovely food and cosy yet classy feel. Recommend the tuna tartare or pardon peppers for a starter! Lovely basil sorbet with the lemon meringue pie!
The place is fantastic, beautiful location, peaceful, quiet, attentive staff. Our room was a tad compact & bijou but as we were only staying for 1 night, adequate for our needs. Great breakfast
Had a meal here with relatives. A superb Cotswold country retreat set in a small village seemingly miles from the hussle and bustle but in reality only about a mile off the A40 near Burford. The food and the service were first class.
We went there for a "girlie" lunch on Saturday, we were lucky with the weather that meant we could sit outside. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed very warmly by Drew. Ella served us beautifully and the team were headed up by Mazz - who was super friendly and provided us with an all round great dining experience. The food was delicious - I would highly recommend.
Went for lunch today, awesome setting, and the atmosphere was lovely. I arrived early and the GM Annie sat with me and we chatted till the rest of my party arrived. Molly our waitron was attentive and met all our needs. Benji the bar person had good banter and laughed with us . The food was amazing and I thank the chefs for delivering a lovely lunch. We decided to move into the bar and have another couple of drinks Sam who I believe was next shift manager also took the time to come and chat with us. Great job guys will be back again very soon , thankyou for giving us an awesome relaxed experience.
The location is amazing, the restaurant has a soothing atmosphere. The food was delicious, tasty. The service was also brilliant until we finished the main course. After that I'm afraid they forgot us. We waited 25 minutes for the dessert menu and another 20 minutes for someone to ask us what we chose from the menu. Apart from that, we will definitely come back because we ate the most delicious food in the area. Highly recommended
Such a lovely pub! Couldn’t recommend the food and the atmosphere enough! Do not try to use the gift cards which you purchase from the website!!! They do not work in the pub, Daylesford… please sort this out! All of the management are fed up of having to deal with complaints, which they deal with very well- thank you management!
First visit. Charming location. Food good (mine excellent; the friends who had the lamb found it chewy and too rare). But the overall exeperience was marred by the staff member who served us. This is no doubt a personal thing, but I do not like being addressed by the cliche "You guys" (used a dozen times in the course of the meal) or the utterly mindless "no problem" when I/we said thank you. I hope management might do some training with them.
Nice pub owned by Daylesford, which is in part owned by JCB. Who is a major contractor in bulldozing Gaza.... Beer is good but unvaried. I like the blankets they have for the outside
Had a Sunday lunch which was a massive very dry Yorkshire Pudding on top of 3 slices of Pork on top of 6 soggy roast potatoes and a dash of gravy. Very underwhelming and had to summon any service. Then went on a weekday when the service was almost non-existent and the food was again very unexceptional. Would not go back - which is a pity because it used to be great food and the garden is now much.improved - just needs needs better management I guess.
Very nice food, if rather pricey, in pleasant surroundings but portions far too small and especially if you have a healthy appetite (avoid the miniscule pork belly!). Tricky place to manoeuvre a big vehicle.
Lovely place and service. Food was ok. Table of 6 shared two Camembert’s that where very nice and a whitebait what was very good also. My brother in law and I ordered the venison. This was a tasty dish but only two very small slithers of venison for £30 per head this was very disappointing and a cheap offering. It also came on a bed of veg with cubed carrot what really lowered the standard of the dish. I also had the deconstructed cheesecake that was very disappointing and not what you would expect from this kind of establishment. The crumble is topped with oates and not what you would expect either. A bit of a disappointing visit for food
Tried out the three horseshoes for lunch, following a recommendation from a friend. The pub was very cold, to the point all three of us had to sit in our jackets/coats for the meal. The lad from the bar did his very best to serve us despite understaffing which impacted the quality of the service. We felt sorry for the lad as he did his best, having to clear tables for large groups on his own and waiter and run the bar at the same time. The chicken Milanese burger lacked flavour (which is a shame as the chicken itself was lovely). The soup was fantastic but the bread had been microwaved so went stiff, and the sticky chicken starter was cold. The fish and chips was also not hot enough, and the chips for the both the burger and the fish and chips were greasy. We wouldn't return, shame!
Terrible experience & service. We booked an 8:15pm table to coincide with a concert in the village which finished at 8pm. On arrival we were told we had only 15 mins before the kithen shut, and were rushed to our seats despite being in the process of buying drinks at the bar. The wine didnt arrive and had to be reordered, one persons starter didnt arrive on time / until the other starters were finsihed and again a main course was terribly late - and our waiter was blasé about the whole thing !
Underwhelming. Food just about adequate but not for the price. Service was unfriendly and uninterested. Felt like I should apologise for being there. They sat me at the wrong table and moved me after an hour, fine, but I didn't feel like a remotely valued customer and they had the audacity to charge a service fee, an Americanism I really do not like and one they should have acknowledged before issuing the bill was inappropriate given I'd been moved around.
Come here to have some food with my friends and unfortunetly we been told the kitchen is closed and we can only have pizza so we had to leave and look to eat somewhere else. This was on a saturday at 4pm. Not to mention the drink prices.
Food was ok, tiny portions with 12% service charge. Even after pudding still left feeling hungry
Walked in and immediately was treated poorly and felt very unwelcome. We are visiting from our home country and there was a bit of a culture barrier that was not understood by server. Will definitely not be ever going back due to how myself and whole family was treated.
