Soooo good! New favorite spot for sure. The shop is cozy and has a very pleasant feeling, the staff are super nice. The food is not only presented well, but it tastes great as well. *update: went back and got the lunch special. Very very cool, better portions for me personally. The tan tan base is so so good, it was actually even better than the first ramen I got which was already great. Really love this place now.
We got the spicy veggie ramen, impossible katsu curry ramen, veggie gyoza, and a red bean taiyaki. Everything tasted amazing, I love that they have lots of vegetarian options. They even gave us hot tea while we waited for our order, we will definitely be back for more delicious food! 😋
Small Eatery that would be very easy to miss driving by. Had to park in the neighborhood a couple blocks away, felt like a local restaurant. Tables were full when I visited so I sat the counter bar stool area. Great lunch special pricing. 12$ for a small bowl of Tonkotsu ramen(was enough) and bowl of rice with choice of meat, with 2 pieces of Gyoza as well. I also ordered a roll of Tuna sushi which were fairly large pieces; was surprised.
We came in 5 minutes after they opened their doors on a Sunday and only 2 tables (for 2 people) and half the bar were available. Since there were 3 in our group, we decided to sit at the bar instead of trying to squeeze into a 2-person table. A few minutes after we sat down, the place was already packed and groups of people are already forming another line outside. The place is very small but the food is amazing! Very flavorful and filling. I attached pictures of the menu and the food that we ordered. Everything was excellent! I don't think this place would have such a high rating if it was any bigger. They definitely serve quality over quantity!
I have not found any ramen restaurant that I like in the Bay Area and now I have!!! Absolutely delightful ramen, the pork is just divine. We tried the jalapeño ramen, which is very non-traditional but I love it. The restaurant is tiny but service was prompt and courteous. Highly recommended ⭐️
I lived in Japan for 5 years. This is the closest I've had to authentic Japanese. And the people who work there are lovely! Also very affordable
This place is a hidden gem ! Me and my wife absolutely love there ramen , we have tried over 50 plus ramen restaurants and this is probably in my top 5. The impossible Japanese curry ramen is my go to and its wonderful , it a hardy curry broth but not over powering with curry flavor and comes with impossible meat katsu which is also amazing. We also always get a order of their spicy vegetarian gyoza . The gyoza are spicy but not over powering. My wife normally gets the spicy vegetarian ramen which is good. Over all this place is amazing or at least the dishes we get are amazing and you should try it if your in the area
Really cute Japanese restaurant near Broadway Burlingame. The ramen scene is super competitive in the Bay Area. So, while the ramen here isn't the best, it's still solid, especially for the area. The service is really friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is really comfortable, mimicing an intimate ramen house in Kyoto. Our favorite spot is by the bar, where we can watch the cooks at work. The lunch menu specials on weekdays are a fantastic deal: a small bowl of ramen, plus a rice bowl, plus 2 gyoze for just $14. A steal!
Hanabi Ramen and Japanese Curry is an absolute gem. The tonkotsu ramen is perfectly on point — rich, flavorful, and comforting. The chicken karaage is incredibly juicy with the perfect crunch, and their Japanese curry is truly top-notch. Huge shoutout to Angel for the super friendly and attentive service. She made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this spot!
authentic japanese experience! flavourful ramen! only thing; my mild spicy was more likely medium spicy… sushis are soo good and really generous portions! staff is so freindly and hard working! :)
We came here recently for lunch and the Ramen was absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was very tasty. And the portions were quite big. We don’t live in the area, but we would love to come back sometime.
The food is amazing. I got the lunch box special and it was delicious and affordable.
This is a small restaurant, so a wait is to be expected in the evenings/on weekends. However, it's more than worth it! They have the best ramen I've tried in a long, long time, and the servings of meat and extras in their bowls are HUGE. Like heaping up out and over the bowl. Their sushi is also great; they put a large amount of avocado and fish in their specialty rolls, and everything is very fresh. Can't wait to try this place once I'm back in town!
Nestled a few blocks outside of Burlingame's bustling downtown, Hanabi Ramen & Japanese Curry is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. While the surrounding area might be a bit quieter, don't let that fool you - this family-run restaurant is a busy spot for good reason! Finding parking was a breeze, with options on the main road and in the neighborhood. However, be prepared for a potential wait, as the restaurant itself is quite small and offers limited seating. They don't have online reservations, so it's a first-come, first-served situation. We waited about 10 minutes, but the friendly staff kept us updated, and the wait was definitely worth it. The service was fantastic throughout our entire meal. Attentive and helpful, the staff made us feel right at home. We started by sharing a plate of chicken skewers – a delicious appetizer! The chicken was incredibly tender and juicy, but the sauce was a tad heavy for my taste. Still, it was a great way to kick off the meal. For the main course, I opted for the tonkotsu ramen with a soft-boiled egg (be sure to add this – it's not included by default!). The wait for the ramen was around 15 minutes, but let me tell you, that first slurp was pure bliss. While the broth wasn't the creamiest I've ever had, it was still rich and flavorful. The real star of the show, however, was the chashu pork. Perfectly cooked and melt-in-your-mouth tender, the sweet meat was beautifully enhanced by a touch of salty seasoning. The noodles were cooked to a perfect doneness, soft and springy with a delightful flavor. Overall, Hanabi Ramen & Japanese Curry is a fantastic spot for a delicious Japanese dining experience. The wait and slightly limited seating might deter some, but the friendly service, flavorful food, and perfectly cooked ramen make it absolutely worth it!
Very good ramen selection 👌. Each of the ones i tried were delicious 😋
Good lunch today. We all had ramen sets. We had these additions: +$3.50 for a little salad, +$5.50 for a BBQ pork rice. It is nice they do that. For the ramen: katsu curry ramen $17.50, jalapeno ramen $16.25, mi-yu ramen $18.25 and a shio ramen $14. I enjoyed my curry ramen. My friends said their ramen were decent. Not great. I'm thinking they changed ownership. Regardless, it was a good lunch.
This is such a cute little hole in the wall restaurant that's so cozy and intimate with amazingly flavorful food. The portions are huge, plenty of options for everyone and they even have half portions for ramen. It's a bit tucked away from the main strip but actually that's what I absolutely love. By this time I'm really bored with all the restaurants on the main strip in Burlingame. I will definitely be back.
Amazing taste! I ordered from their lunch bento sets. For $12 I got what seemed like a 3/4 portion of ramen, a chicken karaage rice bowl, and two pieces of fried gyoza. They all tasted really good. My partner ordered the Mayu Ramen for $18.5 and it came with three chicken legs. The value for money here is just undeniable.
I arrived around 6:30 on a Thursday and was immediately seated. The place has a cozy Japanese diner feel to it, pretty nice. The sushi rolls are large, and it's not just a lot of rice but lots of fish, too. The Yakuni ramen has bean sprouts so be aware of that since they put it underneath the pork if you don't like them. I'm sure you can ask for none, though. Both the ramen and sushi tasted great!!

Got takeout on a rainy night. Every ramen (sesame vegetarian, classic tonkatsu, spicy black garlic) was incredible, as was the curry katsu pork. Spicy chicken karaage and kimchi gyozas also amazing. Looked very cute inside!
The food was superb and excellent value. They really don't skimp on the proteins and the food always comes out pipping hot. The ramen is staple!
This is one of our favorite places to eat. The food is consistently excellent, and the service is great. I highly recommend the vegetarian tantan ramen made with sesame oil; the flavor is amazing and keeps me coming back. My husband loves the Japanese curry and the regular ramen, and the spice levels are perfect. It is also very kid-friendly. My son loves the kids' ramen, edamame, and avocado rolls. The only drawback is that the restaurant is small with limited tables, so there can be a wait. It is worth it for the food.
I love this restaurant so much! The various ramen and curry options I've tried are flavorful, delicious, piping hot, and generous. My favorite combo for their lovely lunch special is probably tan tan ramen + chicken katsu curry, and I usually get tan tan or tonksatsu ramen at dinner. I also really like the garlic edamame, which is cooked in more of a sweet Hawaiian sauce style that I dont usually see, and the gyoza which are nice and crispy crunchy with a good ratio to the tasty filling. There are so many ramen places in the Bay, but this is a top 3 spot for me. The owner is always so kind and attentive as well even though she is always super busy; I dropped my chopsticks one time and she handed me a new set in about 3 seconds. I always leave here feeling so happy, full, and comforted. Highly recommend!

Yummy mayu ramen comes with a stick of meat (short rib). Enough said. Place serves ramen fairly quickly which is nice. They also do Curry ramen but I think it's just ok. Noodles of the ramen wasn't special but broth was rich in flavor. I wouldn't get there karaage as other places do it better.
Cozy Japanese restaurant in Burlingame on California drive. It is usually busy, small seating area. The ramen was very savory, and I like the size of the noodles which are not too thick, not too thin. The eggs are yummy! We also had the coconut shrimp sushi roll which was also delicious.
Cute little place a bit away from the main restaurants street. Super friendly and attentive staff and delicious food. We got the kakuni ramen and curry katsu ramen. I really liked the kakuni ramen. The katsu was good but I felt that the curry was too heavy and thick for me as a main meal. Overall I had a good meal and would come back to try other dishes.
(More like 3.5 stars) I've been here two times now. It is a really small restaurant. The first time I went, I had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. This time I did not have to wait at all. Seating is really close together and the kitchen is almost next to you. We ordered the Shoyu ramen with extra noodles and added a chicken teriyaki rice bowl, gyoza, edamame, and a california roll. I really liked that the edamame was hot and salted, and not coldly served. The california roll was uneven, with two pieces almost half the size of the rest. The gyoza was pretty good. The chicken bowl was so dry!! Even with the sauce, the chicken was extremely dry. I would not get it again. The ramen was really good, though. The extra noodles was enough to share between two people; the bowl was huge. Between 3 people, this was enough to make us really full. I would come again if it isn't crowded. The ramen is affordable and they are fast workers. I would not recommend the chicken bowl though!!
It was not our first time here , it’s one of those places where u wanna go on the weekends cuz easy working n most importantly, not too pricey and food is good for the prices. I got two lunch ramen , and was able to ask to swap out the rice for more salads Def will go back with my children. It’s a cozy little restaurant, it’s a place for u to eat finish n go place.
Tiny local ramen place. Couldn't get a counter seat but got a table after about 5 minutes of waiting. Kimchi cheesesteak egg rolls were great, could have contained more meat but came out hot so I knew they were freshly rolled before frying. I got medium spicy on my tan tan ramen and it was the perfect amount of heat. Service was very nice. The only awkward part was the partitions they put up between tables of PVC pipe structure wrapped in saran wrap. There is very little room between tables, so the table next to us with an 8 year old who kept getting up frequently bumped it and I would have to stop it from falling onto our table. Appreciate the thought behind it though.
I have been to this restaurant 3 times and the first 2 did not disappoint. I ordered the tonkatsu curry with rice and for around $20 it was a steal. The pork was crispy and juicy and their curry sauce was almost as good as the ones I’ve had in Japan and Korea. Not to mention the portion was MASSIVE and I returned home with 2 boxes of leftovers (highly recommended). The second time I went, I ordered their lunch set which is actually a really a good deal. But it was nothing too special The third time was a great dissatisfaction for me. I ordered the Kakuni ramen. For the price, the portion is really generous. However, the noodles were overcooked and the broth was more sweet than salty, even though it was a miso based broth. The pork belly was a letdown as it was dry and tough. Even though I think the third time was disappointing, the service there is great and I always get greeted warmly. Prices and portions are also reasonable compared to other Japanese restaurants.
Food is okay only. Noodles can be cooked little longer time, not soft enough. The curry sauce tasted no special. Cleanliness is good. Service is nice and quick. Street parking only.

Lunch special is great value. The ramen always has so much noodle. It’s not the best ramen, but it’s fairly cheap, consistent quality, good value. Everything comes out so quickly, and this location is very convenient. The only thing I did not like one time was the fried pork (?) that came with my tantan ramen tasted kind of old.

Don’t order to go in person. After being told 15-20 mins, I waited over 45 minutes for pick up while entire parties came, ate, and left. You get put in the call-in queue if you order in person. Good ramen but messy front of house
The restaurant is very small so be prepared to wait for a table. We sat at the bar but it was very tight (too tight). The food was mostly good. The fried things are dripping with grease but adequately tasty. The portions are huge, much bigger than expected. Where is kind of went array was spotting a cockroach on a sign right in front of us. We told the wait staff about it and they went to kill it. In the process of killing the bug they dropped a sign on us. They did replace the food that was affected and gave us a discount on the meal.

Real Broth makes ramen delicious....karage 🍗 taste was a bit off. The challenges of finding excellent ramen continues....
