Great restaurant, excellent home cooking. Our boys still talk about the Turtle Pie...they love it. Went here after visiting Longhorn Caverns and I think they remember eating here more then the caverns
Enjoyed every dish we've had here! Great catfish, great chicken fried steak, awesome burgers. Be sure and have the seasoned fries!
Had a nice lunch here on a weekday. The food was very good, the service was good. Had my dogs with me so sat outside.
Had a great meal, local sausage with 2 sides. Excellent service and the other folks dining there were very friendly.
Every day has a special. One of the things I like best. There is Always a free bowl of beans Hot and ready to eat.
The food was excellent and the waitress Morgan is super nice. my compliments to the chef.. i got meatloaf with greens beans and mashed potatoes with gravy. Excellent !
Fried catfish is excellent. Would have liked to pay less and get less. Didn't care for Cole slaw. Loved the hush puppies
Very good restaurant. Had my Birthday supper there with my sister & her husband. We had a wonderful time. My first time there. I will be going back.
This Place Is Super Nice. Top Of The Cafe List In Burnet!!! Ive seen all the ratings for Momas Home Cookin'.. THATS A LIE. Plus their meatloaf HAS NOTHING ON HOOVERS! 2300 Cafe.. Over cooked my fried fish.. HOOVERS Cafe Has All You Can Eat Fried Fish on Fridays I believe. Hoovers Cafe Is A 5 Star Cafe!!!!!
My husband and I have eaten there many times. Friday catfish is a MUST. Last night, a Tuesday, I tried the chicken salad sandwich. I may never have anything else there again. Awesome sandwich. Two different kinds of cheese, grapes, pecans, rosemary focaccia bread. It's just sublime. And served with a smile. We love this cafe.
Fantastic philly cheesesteak! Best i’ve had in the state. Cheese sticks were amazing too! Great Spot!
OMG!!!! We have been coming here for years. If you camp at Inks Lake state park this is right down the road. Friday night is all you can eat catfish. They have daily specials too. They have free beans upon request. I am not usually a bean fan, but trust me you need to try them. The hamburgers are flavorful. The French fries are ok. The staff is friendly and efficient. It looks like a little diner inside.
Well deserved 5 star review. It's not a fancy place, but that's ok, hidden GEM!!. The food is going to blow you away, and great service from the staff!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Great comfort / country cooking. Great burgers and size of serving is great. The waiters are outstanding and personal. They have internet but don’t share with guest which should be the “normal”. There are many of us that have to do business while even having dinner and expect text / voice etc calls and them not sharing a Guest WiFi just seems not professional. I wish the owner would set up his router for guest mode that would not interfere with his business operations just for business people. They do take Apple Pay / Google Pay. Number one negative is the ownership with not provide wi-fi for guest Great place
Great little place for fantastic food and the staff just makes you feel at home. Absolutely love eating here. There's nothing on the menu that isn't absolutely out of this world delicious.
I love this dual establishment! From the literal convenience of one side, to the "feels like home" of the other. Whether you're in need of something cold to drink while fueling up, or a seat to take the load off while grabbing a bite to eat. Welcoming and gracious smiles. Thanks y'all! ❤️ 🏜️ 🌞 😎
The chicken fried chicken was just right and not greasy. The wait staff was very helpful. And, there was free peaches and cream pie included. What a wonderful choice for our evening meal.
We have a vacation property close to the Hoover Valley Cafe, and we utilize the cafe just about every time we are in the neighborhood. I’m a big fan of their hamburgers, they have an excellent bun that takes it over the top and the seasoned fries are usually cooked to perfection. The specials are always good and affordable priced. The people that work at Hoover Valley Cafe are wonderful locals, great friendly welcome and service. They have been open for a long time and serving good food for as long as I’ve been eating there. I give it a 5 star rating based on comparison with other small town or rural food establishments, and I cannot think of a place within 10 miles that I’d rather go to over the short trip to HVC.
This was an excellent place to stop between Longhorn Cavern and Inks Lake! We had the chicken fried chicken which was excellent, the broccoli cheese soup and grilled cheese, and hot dog kids meal. We also tried the complimentary beans. Everything was delicious and the service was also very friendly and fast!
Great place out in the middle of the Beautiful Texas Hill Country, located right across from Perissos Winery... quaint country diner, family style setting, sweet home cooking!! Takes you back in time just a little while you visit with family or friends!!!
I stopped by after visiting Longhorn Cavern. The burger was amazing and the complimentary pinto beans as a starter were also delicious. Cute place with friendly staff.
A small cozy restaurant with REALLY GOOD FOOD! I come here a lot during the summer (from Austin) and have had several menu items. They also serve beer and wine as well as delicious desserts. I’ve had it all. I’ve seen this place grow for 25 years from a small lonely gas station and I’m proud to call it a part of the community. The staff are polite and friendly as well! I always try to support this great establishment as often as I can.
Been twice in past 3 months. Was not disappointed. Had CF steak and catfish. Will go again. Close to Inks Lake State park and Longhorn Cavern. Well stocked little store.
Stephanie was our waitress, and she was fantastic! Great attitude, helpful, friendly. Food came out quick and was great! Definitely would recommend, and ask for Stephanie for sure!
This is a great place to eat if you're looking for some country cooking. However it is quite a drive from anything so you're pickings are pretty slim. The food's not too bad just don't expect Grandma cooking
The food was awesome the staff was so sweet. The pie was perfect and a piece of heaven 😍
Oh my! We've come to the area for years but never knew about HV! One of best burgers ever and hubby said his Philly Cheesesteak was in top 5. Even compared to those in Philadelphia! Cute place and very good. The little store had a little bit of everything too!
This is a great restaurant! I went with a group of women and was very pleasantly surprised. It has a quaint atmosphere, friendly service, good food, and reasonable prices. I will definitely go back again!
Fantastic service, it was very quick, we got 4 burgers and they were out in literally 10 minutes. Food was amazing. 10/10 recommend
We showed up 30 minutes before closing, and the staff was friendly and happily served us. The food and service was great. It is very close to the state park, and I highly recommend it if you are interested in some home cooking, instead of camping food. Did I mention that the Wednesday special is free dessert with your meal. Several awesome flavors of pie 🥧. Yummy 😋!!!
This place is truly special! Best burger I've had in some time and the service was incredible. I wish I lived closer, although I do not think I would be able to maintain a healthy weight if that was the case. If you ever have the pleasure of stopping in, do not hesitate!
All you can eat catfish was Super.with the best sweet potatoes fries I've ever had. And coleslaw was the best they should make the slaw bowl bigger.cant wait to try their chicken fried steak. Service was perfect you can't miss going there. Plenty of space and check out the little store on your way out.. thanks for being one of the best eateries to go to.
If you are interested in the old fashioned cafe, hoover valley will delight you. Their food fits the bill, they offer good old fashion pinto beans for free with every meal, their Friday night fried catfish hits the spot, and their ice tea is actually brewed and you can tell the difference. The staff are local neighbors kind, pay attention to details, and friendly…
Sorry no pictures...see Ink Lake Fisheries review. Great place...fun waitresses...excellent food & cooks. Low prices...even without daily specials...didn't do gas or store. But relaxed parking and very helpful staff. Very convenient location too!! Family, friends...even quick date before or after State Parks nearby.
Place was clean, well appointed and the server was a keeper. The complementary pinto beans were yummy. Oh yeah..the food was very good!
Good food, good prices. Small town feel and comfortable. Specials are great. Tuesday- hamburger and fries for $5. Thursday- New York strip with loaded potato and side salad for $11.99. Plus a free bowl of beans with any meal. Friday is catfish, all you can eat for $11.99. Catfish is good, not the best, but good. I'll keep going back.
I was in the area for a Casino Night at Log Country Cove down the street and I passed this place on the way. I read the reviews and decided to go. I am glad I did. I ordered a sweet tea, chicken fried steak, coleslaw, and I asked if I could have onion rings instead of fries The lady said sure but there would be an extra charge. No problem. Everything was incredible. Good "home cooking" but only if your family has perfected the recipes and the execution. Even the tea was perfectly sweetened. I look forward to being in that area again and I will certainly recommend to this place.
Chicken fried steak was perfectly cooked. Awesome gravy. Definitely homemade
Great food and service. Their menu has many options. We went with a party of 6 and everyone enjoyed their food. It is reasonably priced, as well
Delicious food! Very friendly down to earth family type atmosphere 😃. Wait staff are attentive, and very courteous. I would definitely recommend stopping by here on your travels this summer. They also have a one stop shopping, in their general store next door. They have all fishing needs, as well as a small grocery store.
Excellent service. Food was amazing. Waiter was amazing. Highly recommend.
Great family atmosphere and the food was fantastic! Home cooking at its finest. Had the all you can eat catfish, home made creamy mac and cheese, green beans with bacon and onion in them also. Hush puppies were perfect even down to the little bit of corn in them!
I was very pleased with my grilled chicken salad. simple but just what I wanted. coleslaw is good too. service was great , and they had ACC basketball on
Hoover’s Valley Cafe offers tasty homemade meals, warm service, and a relaxing country vibe — a perfect stop for comfort food lovers. 🥞☕
Just stopped in to check out the little store, as I have passed it on numerous occasions. Quaint little place. Has a restaurant in the same building, but we didn't go in.
A true country Cafe. Daily special was chicken fried steak with 2 sides and Texas toast. Perfect lunch size, under $11. Iced tea is fresh. Save room for pie if possible. The hamburgers are old fashioned and delicious with the crispy fries.
My wife and I were impressed with the food and service at Hoovers Cafe. She had the G.O.A.T cheese burger. It was delicious like it might have been made in the 50’s. The fries were also delicious. I had the grilled chicken salad. It was very well balanced and delicious. Finally, we had a chocolate cream pie to cap off the experience. Memorable.
My wife and I eat here every Friday night. The food is always great. We typically get burgers but tonight we finally tried the catfish and it was delicious. We usually have the same server (Bobbie) she is always good to us and has great energy. Highly recommend getting a bacon cheeseburger or the catfish!!
swung by for a takeout order before heading to inks for the star party- staff was very nice and pleasant. def recommend the hickory burger and their cookie dough banana cheesecake (i believe is what it’s called- something with cookie dough). i forgot to take photos because i was so hungry, and the food was too good to stop eating when I realized
The burger here is hands down the best old-fashioned burger I’ve had in a long time! Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. What really made it special was the friendly chef, dressed in proper chef’s attire — such a great touch that adds to the whole experience. If you’re in the area, you’ve got to stop by.
They had the best food mid way through a motorcycle ride 15 years ago. Just came back. They're are still killing it! Thank you for amazing food and drink. Don't change!
Found out cafe is connected to the store but has plenty of dining tables. Service was excellent with two ladies constantly checking in on me. Got the chicken finger basket and it arrived nice and hot. Came with Texas toast and fries. Everything was delicious and filling. To my surprise was a free slice of pie (part of the meal). Overall an excellent deal and a wonderful experience.
Great little cafe close to Inks Lake, I got the all-you-can-eat catfish on a Friday night, and I have to say that the fish was seasoned and cooked well. Service is outstanding, and it's got that quaint cafe atmosphere. They do get busy and on the servers end up running around like crazy but raise your hand and they will get to you.
Cute café with good food just three miles from Inks Lake State Park. It's attached to a store at a gas station. We had cheeseburgers with choice of cheese on really delicious sourdough buns. Sweet potato fries and cole slaw as sides and one order of hushpuppies a la carte. Everything we had was served fresh and hot. At the start of the meal we were offered complimentary pinto beans and they were delicious too. Sparse gluten free options (burgers w/o bun, salad, loaded baked potato).
Overall, it's a great place to stop for home cooking. Sorry, I didn't think to take pics of the food. For dinner this place was very good. I had the meatloaf mashed potatoes and okra. The potatoes didn't seem instant, unlike what someone else said it was. The size of the meatloaf was good for me, but for others, it may need to be a bit more, like 2 slices instead of 1. My sister had the Big Texas, which was a large sandwich and tasted good. However, the bottom was soggy. My daughter had the steak, and she said that for the price, it was a tasty steak. She ordered medium rare but got a medium well. The Rubin sandwich was really good but could use more dressing. Catfish was great and large portions. We all had pie and different ones. Overall, all the pies were great. Lemon was a bit strong, though. My favorite was the brownies pie. P.s. this restaurant is across the street for a location Vinyard.
Great food and nice folks. Close to work so a somewhat regular lunch spot. Always good food, always good service. I keep it light so this was the loaded baked potato. Had the ham and cheese, Daily special yesterday. Very tasty and twice the amount I can eat. I like lunch here and do it often. I eat here several times a week. Ways good food, I love the service. BBQ sandwich is super good. Thanks for adding that.
This placed was packed on a Sunday afternoon! It reminds me of Bluebonnet Cafe but their wait was much better. I don't even think I waited five minutes before my food came out. I guess ordering the special for that day may have a time special too. Everything was good but I couldn't eat or drink it all in one sitting. The drinks were HUGE, and for less than $15 (entree, two sides, drink and cake), you really get a big bang for your buck. Great restaurant and wonderful staff!
Went for all you can eat catfish, I liked it because I like crispy fish, my other half not so much he likes meaty but we both finished our baskets, low key atmosphere enjoyed it
It's a very friendly place lots of culture on the walls and the atmosphere is very welcoming the only problems I had was I had asked for gravy on the side of my chicken fried steak because it makes the breading soggy and I like it crunchy instead they for got and left it on it was no big deal so I didn't say nothing the next thing that bothered me is I don't know if it was the breading or the gravy on it the breading was very chewy with not a lot of crunch I expect that from the meat but not the breading luckily they serve homemade ranch and I was in heaven though its a bit saltyer then I would recommend was still very good I will be returning hungry for more.
Great little hill country find. Does not serve breakfast but offers nightly specials: Tues- $5 burger, Wed - CFS special, and more. The service is always great. The have some bottled beer and box wine. There's also always a pot of hot beans available for fee. Dont blink, you will drive past it. They also have a convenience store and gas station.
Food was great. Mixed feelings on initial impressions with the different waitresses. Will be enjoying more of the specials.
Iced tea tasted old, or the containers needed cleaning. Generous size drink. Wish they didn't use Styrofoam. Bad for environment. Only went for take out pie. Pieces small but tasty.
Food is consistently good; the philly cheese steak is a personal fave. Can't go wrong with free pie on Wednesday evenings!
The food was just okay, but we loved the environment. Our cheese sticks were a little cold in the center. Chicken sandwich was good. Pie was delicious!
Very cute place. It was ok
Great place to eat and great staff! Very friendly and attentive! I got the shrimp basket and my hubby got the BLT and they were both good! Hit the spot! Most in the group got the chicken fried steak & loved it!
Usually excellent but a little off this time. Love the atmosphere. We had Friday night all you can eat Carfish. Sides were great, but the Catfish was a little over cooked & very salty. After receiving our main dish the wait staff didn't check back with us. Almost purposely. Surprisingly, upon going up to the register to pay they didn't charge "all you can eat" rate but instead charged the regular Catfish plate price. I appreciated this. One off visit isn't a deal breaker, I'll be back for sure. Love this place.
The sweet potato fries are the best I ever had! The BBQ was ok but I really liked the bun it was on. I was not overly impressed with the service, i.e. refills took forever and only were offered once.
Food was good. The complimentary 'charro' beans were terrific as was the fried okra. The green beans and chicken fried steak were ok. The service was very prompt and friendly. Prices were reasonable.
I ordered the philicheese steak sandwich with fries and it came out charcoal burnt. Really disappointed 😞
Stopped by for a cold drink and some Mexican candy( they didn't have) on a leisurely drive with a special and kind significant other . While having a great day together , just a little conviienance store, nothing really impressive, nothing negative, just a little backroad store
Wouldn't make $5 burger to go. I don't dine in due to noise n TBI. Fries were cold n soggy by the time he got home. Would cook burger until exactly 5 pm. I think my husband got there early. Big portion of fries.
Last year we ate here many times with fast excellent service, this year not so much... actually waited 20 minutes today for service & had no acknowledgement from waitress @ all..not that busy either maybe 5 tables & 2 staff So disappointing, with so many great places to eat we will not return
Do not go after 2 pm on a Sunday - they are closing down and in shutdown mode. Onion rings were good but look like the cans from a bag- I ordered the chicken fried steak- mashed and green beans - beans were cold , mashed looked like they were the last left in the pan. The chicken fried steak was good. We also ordered the chicken fingers that looked like they came from a bag and asked for side of gravy but they were out. Made the trip specifically to eat there. Service was outstanding- our waitress was awesome.
Server brought us drinks and immediately turned in to a ghost. We attempted to grab her attention to no avail. Another server took our order. The food was very good, the cooks are doing it right.
The food is good if you can tolerate the unfriendly service by one of the waitresses. I didn’t feel welcome whatsoever. I was part of a group who stopped by to eat there and I noticed I was skipped twice when taking orders for drinks and food. This was no coincidence and it was intentional. I believe I know why she did it but I’d rather not say because I am the better person. My advice is find another place to eat.
For the third time in a row, my sandwich was smashed into an aluminum foil ball, they didn’t get me my ranch (which i was charged for) and the food was inedible. I’d rather not eat than eat the soggy bread, undercooked chicken, and underripe tomatoes. This was picked up promptly on time and it was still soggy. So disappointed in this neighborhood cafe.
Order 2 chicken fried steaks, 1 mash potatoes Mac&cheese, fries and fried okra. Drove home to Marble Falls. Missing mash potatoes, no gravy and mac& cheese. Drove back to hoover Valley cafe. Now my food is very cold. You would think they would do something but they act like so what here is your Missing food go home now. I will not very go back.
I have to be honest… I decided to try this cafe because it was close to home and I was craving catfish (7 months pregnant)…. First I would like to say I was not served catfish. Whatever they use is not what I ordered. Not only was it not catfish but it was soggy and clearly straight from a frozen bag. Second they use tartar sauce in their potato salad… never in my life have I heard of that…. Horrible. So bad that my 8 year old son without knowing my opinion on it said “they did nothing right with this potato salad”. I rarely leave a review but felt the need to because most other reviews led me to think I was getting something great. Don’t waste your money…. It was a horrible experience based off of food alone.
Worst catfish I have ever had besides the uncooked catfish we received at Crazy Gals in Burnet. The fries were cold and rock hard and the fish was like the soul of a boot. Unreal. You guys need to upgrade your game.
Buyee beware...43.00 for lunch for 2 people eating a burger and sandwich is ridiculous. First, they forgot my wife's order, then charged me for the wrong meal, then charged me 6.19 service fee never mentioned since there were 6 people, plus I had already tipped. Not recommended.
Decent looking little country restaurant. Service was pretty bad and food was worse. Hardly saw the waitress. My three guys got the chicken fried steak, all hated it, my two teens wouldn’t even eat it past the first bite. They said it was too chewy and gross, almost gamey. One boy spit it out. Potatoes were so watery and my son wouldn’t eat those either. My husband ate his steak because he was hungry and will eat food he hates. I told the waitress, who didn’t care, apologize or offer to take anything off. We paid $80 for basically two of us to eat. And these were two hungry teen boys who had been hiking. That says a lot. French fries and slaw were the only good things. Shrimp was just okay.
