SLATE in Camarillo is an amazing dining experience. The atmosphere is modern and upscale, perfect for a date night or a nice dinner out. The food is outstanding — the steaks are cooked perfectly, the sushi is super fresh, and the cocktails are some of the best in the area. Service is consistently attentive and friendly, and the presentation of every dish is top-notch. Definitely one of Camarillo’s best restaurants. Highly recommend!

I loved the short ribs. The butter cake was delish too. I especially like that they serve Ritual zero proof liquor. I was able to enjoy an espresso martini and hang out with my friends without feeling left out! The atmosphere is wonderful and the server was amazing. I would highly recommend!!!!

The place is absolutely beautiful. The owner is super nice and welcomed us in. The service was great. The menu is simple and easy to navigate. The options are fairly spread, and everything looks delicious. I had the sliders, sushi, and frys. The frys were crazy good. The sliders were like what mama used to make but better. The sushi was good. I will come back for sure.

The food was so good. The loaded mashed potatoes are to die for. The regular Mac and cheese was so creamy and everything tasted fresh. The desserts all sounded really good but I got the cake and the red velvet creme brulee.

Slate is exactly where I go after a long day or for a celebration. The restaurant and bar always leave me craving for more scrumptious sushi, cocktails and entrees. They do everything 10/10. The atmosphere here is so lovely and the staff are above and beyond. I highly recommend Slate for a dinner date and catching a movie at The Roxy (same neighborhood) before or afterwards! By far the best steak I’ve had in Camarillo. I highly recommend, and don’t forget to order dessert 😋

The shrimp pancetta fettuccine was great but dont get it without the pancetta cause it lacked salt but otherwise, everything was excellent! So my apologies to the chef. Sushi was great, tempura broccolini & honey garlic bread was all fantastic. But the buttercake was the absolute BEST!!! Our waitress was fantastic & Leo the bartender was very nice, my drinks were fantastic. Apparently, everyone was celebrating their birthday, at least 3-4 times, bdays were acknowledged including mine, so I'll be back for sure

This place is great!! Fantastic sushi! I had the Slate Roll and the Rainbow Roll with an Old Fashioned. The ambience is amazing and the live music is unbelievable. Perfect date night spot! In this photo that I posted of the desserts, the dish on the bottom is the Butter Cake. If you go here, you have to try it! It’s absolutely amazing! ASK FOR MARITZA!!!!

Came here on a Monday night for our first time. We ordered the edamame and honey bread to start. Both were really good. Edamame comes out hot. My wife ordered the shrimp and pancetta pasta, I ordered the chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans and . My oldest daughter ordered the rainbow rolls. I ordered the chicken to share with my youngest but it was really delicious. I tried the pasta and it was rich and savory. The rainbow rolls were really good too. Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying something new next time

Our waitress was the sweetest person, she kept saying my pleasure like they do at Chick-fil-A. We think her name was Teri. Honestly try and sit in her section if you make a reservation. Highly recommend her. We were out for my birthday. Didn’t get seated in the best spot the corner was fine and cute but the air vent was just above us. Not bad if you like a chill. Not great for exposed shoulders in a dress.

Beautiful restaurant, with a great ambiance on the patio. From the live music to the chandeliers, this place is magical. Food is great, best fine dining in the area. Even with COVID regulations SLATE still excels in customer service, and food. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a relaxing fine dining experience, with great staff & excellent food.

Wonderful! Decided to try this place last Thursday night. It was raining but cozy inside. My friend and I made it just in time to order cocktails for happy hour and the Winter Mule was amazing. If you like something more refreshing and still tasty then I recommend that cocktail. We both ordered the sushi special and let me tell you everything was divine. Their Malibu roll was so fresh and tasty with the lemon on top. My friend is from Japan and said that the Malibu roll was better than the sushi she gets in her hometown which is high praise! We were still hungry after though so we ordered the sliders and loaded mashed potatoes which are to die for. Highly recommend with friendly waitstaff and good atmosphere. A bit pricey but what isn't nowadays, right? All in all spent around $75 with tip for myself.

Love love love the ambiance! Anyone who enjoys feeling the city vibe (chandeliers and outdoor fireplaces) will love this place. And they have happy hour! Recommend the Elixir, bone marrow garlic bread and Korean bbq cauliflower.

Great food and great drinks, I especially liked the "no southern gentlemen" and the hamburger is honestly the best I have ever had....but there are plenty of great dishes from an amazing chief. The service is great and the atmosphere is amazing!

Last night was our third time at Slate. We are always so happy with everything. Food, service, atmosphere. It was our second time in Teri's section. She is an absolute doll! Perfect amount of attention and always a smile.

So this is definitively my husband and my favorite spot to get dinner. Whether it be an anniversary, a special day, or any day you want to enjoy yourself… Slate is the spot. Joey has been our favorite waiter so far and took care of us (even my ridiculous requests like asking what the Spotify playlist was). Their drinks are amazing, their food is delicious, and their prices are honestly such a good deal for the quality of the food. Even if you’re on a pinch, go for the happy hour. You can’t beat the Chardonnay Chicken for $19. 10/10

SLATE had been great in catering our Thanksgiving Party 2025. Such a huge part of why the event had been a complete success.

Saturday night 5/31, I was booked to DJ a private event at Slate. The entire staff led by Ashley were welcoming and very helpful, even going so far as to offer me different options on where I could set up. Ashley and the Slate team were very professional and attentive to the entire party. If you are considering a venue for a private event or gathering I recommend and encourage you to consider Slate.

I didn’t know what to expect because most of the really good steakhouses are going to be in Los Angeles. This will be a good review because I know my steakhouses! We got the shrimp and scallops, The dinner for two with the 32 ounce tomahawk and added lobster tails. The appetizer was amazing! Great seasoning and sauce. The Malibu sushi roll was a 10! The Cesar salad was great. Tomahawks can be tough most of the time but this one was tender!! Tue sauces they give you are amazing!! Lobster tails were almost too tender, if that’s possible. The service was impeccable! They treated my son for his bday with a card and dessert. Can’t say enough about this place!

Excellent food and customer service. I had the Grilled Pork Chop with the glaze in the side, and it was just perfect in flavor. Loved the veggies, too. I did not try any of the non- alcoholic beverages, but maybe next time.

Food: 11/10 Service:10/10 Ambiance: 10/10 This is the best restaurant in Camarillo, hands down. We always enjoy our food and service. Best things go for is the Sushi! You’ll be surprised. Everything is great on the menu and the cocktails are always great. The menu changes a lot, and we enjoy it for that. Must try.

Food & service were excellent and the live music was an unexpected surprise. Our 1st time here and definitely not our last. Maritza, our waitress made the evening extra special! Definitely recommend

Absolutely fantastic experience at Slate Bistro in Camarillo! It’s always a pleasure to work with Vince and Annette, the wonderful owners. The staff is great and consistently provides excellent service. I’ve used them on several occasions for corporate events, and their service is both outstanding and highly convenient. Don’t forget to ask them for a signature drink for your special event—they will not disappoint! Highly recommended!

This was definitely one of the nicer restaurants we've been to in Camarillo. The food has a nice attention to aesthetics. Overall, it was quite tasty. One caveat is that the crispy rice roll had rice that was quite glutinous and hard to chew. Normally, crispy rice rolls should be crunchy but now hard/chewy. Our servers were very nice. Overall, it's clean and colorful, with good lighting inside. There are TVs, which is one of my least favorite things in a a restaurant, but they aren't obtrusive. Bathrooms were clean. We'd eat here again!

Good was great. Service was really nice but a little stretched thin it felt Only weird thing was not being able to choose your side. Some people just want fries with their steak lol! Definitely will be back for the food quality tho. Nice clean place. Hope it does well

Great service, great food, nothing extraordinary however. Positioned as upscale, no complaints. I see many people for the happy hour, I would recommend. Somewhat limited hours.

Its my new go to spot for dinner especially since i can walk here. Reyna my bartender is always a bundle of joy. Free large parking lot available. I highly recommend the chicken potstickers and fried chicken chardonnay with spring vegetables dish. They have a great dinner for two option as well which i well try next. And they make a wicked espresso martini with baileys.

A pleasant place to dine with an modestly upscale vibe. The outdoor patio is nice for dining outside in the fresh air. The staff was friendly and attentive. I had the blackened chicken with a scoop of mashed potatoes and veggies. It tasted pretty good. I like the sauce that they draped over the chicken. The portion size is okay -- enough to eat and enjoy, but not really about the large portions.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and their Happy Hour pricing. There is a happy hour everyday. Their house Chardonnay was crisp, light and tasty. The interior and patio has a lot of private as well as group spot as well as a couple of fire places. I didn't get to try much food but the baked brie with grapes on top and soft toasted bread lacked balance between its rich flavor and something either spicy or sweet. It might have been a preference thing though. I will go back and try it again when I am hungrier.

I really enjoyed myself here! The vibe was chill and the food was pretty good. I got the filet mignon and it was so buttery and just overall great! It comes with mashed potatoes and green beans and you get to pick between two sauces to go with the filet. I can’t remember which one I chose though. I will say I do with the mashed potatoes was more flavorful and the green beans needed to be seasoned and cooked a bit longer.

It took awhile to get orders in and to get our drinks--maybe staffing issue?Queen of Diamonds, California Margarita and the Happy Hour Strawberry Fields drinks were delicious and presentation is phenomena;. However, some of the craft drinks were too experimental for our taste buds.

Drink selection is top notch, but I wouldn’t order another steak here. Came out closer to medium well than medium rare, and left a lot to be desired in terms of quality of cut. But the whiskey flight is an amazing deal, and they will accommodate special requests (like an Irish coffee, for instance)

Appetizer was burnt. So was my salmon burnt. I had to pick most of it out. Hospital tasting fried rice. Was not a fan of the service either. Completely disappointed with everything over all sushi was delicious other than that. Everything else was awful. I wouldn't recommend the salmon with hospital fried rice to anyone.

I don’t understand this why is this a 4 hr restaurant how do their waiters even make any money?! Just curious

Honestly I wanted to love this place so bad but everything was very sub par. The food was severely under seasoned. Drinks were really not that good either. I got steak and they literally piled salt and pepper on the plate...like literally in the corner of the plate. Not the best. My husband's scallops were so undercooked it was ridiculous. Best part about it was the atmosphere. Probably will not be back

We’ve been customers of Slate since it opened years ago (8?). It recently had a remodel on the inside which I’m not a fan of - seemed like trying to be upscale but didn’t work. Wait staff was good but the hostess was sadly very underdressed and not professional looking for a high end restaurant. She could have been more friendly too. The Variety in curated drinks is completely gone and the variety in meals is gone. This was a stellar part of the original Slate. We found out they have a new chef - is it under new ownership or something? This used to be a place you could go and get a meal you’d see On the food network with crafted and well done side dishes with quality star entrees. I had the ny strip with mashed potatoes and green beans. Nothing was wrong but it was really OK. NOT what I would expect for a $48 plate. We were there celebrating an anniversary which we noted on reservation. No one acknowledged this. Overall this place has gone way downhill from what it was. Midweek no one was on the patio for happy hours. Shocking, never used to be. I’m not sure we will be back. Will take our $160 likely elsewhere. I hope it makes a comeback

It was a bust. The options were extremely limited and Extremely expensive, the atmosphere was non inviting. We didn't stay once we were seated after looking at our eating options and Wine options. I hope there are people who love this place because everyone needs a place to eat, it's just not for me.

First time being there and the bar area is beautiful and the restaurant's nice. It seemed to have great promise. The waitress was pleasant, the restaurant was not very busy and yet our drinks took over 20 minutes to come which should have been an indication of what was about to happen. We put in our order with our appetizers and right after we did I saw a large party going to a back room. The appetizers were very slow to come 25 minutes and were good. Then 45 minutes later we had to alert someone that we still had not been brought our food. They came over and told us: Oh well...umnm we didn't really lose your order and the pork chop takes a while to make... but we had a big party and whatever... And desserts were going to be comped.ok. About 15 more minutes later they brought our dinners. Well, two of our dinners. Then about 3-4 minutes later the other two of us got our dinner... I mean if you're trying to make it up, why not bring the dinners all at once. Two of our meals were very good- the risotto and the tacos. My son got the pork chop which was incredibly dry and had a sweet seemingly off the shelf barbecue sauce on it. The sides were delicious. My wife had hanger steak ordered medium rare that came barely cooked. Even though they were aware this was a bad experience. The manager never came over and spoke to us, and even after that the attentiveness was lax let's say. I feel this is a breakdown of teaming table service which always has the potential to be bad... This was just a breakdown all around and then compounded by the food being pretty poor and the manager never coming over. I don't think we'll ever be back. They did make the effort to comp our appetizers and the dessert which we actually didn't really want but ordered anyway. We didn't order anything remarkable and we left the restaurant 2 and 1/2 hours after we arrived. You might have better luck.

We gave Slate 3 tries, and all 3 were a swing and a miss at the Slate! On our first visit, we sat next to a couple of women who let their children run wild like they were at a Chucky Ceese pizza parlor. The kids were literally jumping on the bench next to us, so we asked to be seated elsewhere. We were taken to a high top table in the bar with wobbly tables and chairs. We decided to go elsewhere. We gave it a second try on our anniversary dinner. We were seated outdoors next to a large party that was supper loud and obnoxious...we gave it no mind, were just here to have an enjoyable dinner. Our server came to our table maybe 3 times, once to get our order, then to drop off our drinks, then to ask us how everything was with the check. She spent her entire time catering to the large party and ignored us! On our last visit we had the same waitress and I think she recognized us from our previous visit. She put on a great face, but the service just wasn't there. We ordered a meal that came with a spiral cut whole potato, which was burnt to a crisp on the exterior and still frozen on the inside. We stopped her to let her know, and she said she would fix our order. Another employee came out and dropped off cold mashed potatoes... Our server never came by to see if everything was OK! Sorry, Slate, but we won't be back, and by judging how dead it was in there on Saturday night, I don't think I'm the only one that won't be back!
