Location is near a residential area. It's right before a big residential gate. At first, we thought we were at the wrong place. Little hidden gem. We sat outside & was warm that day, but the waitress was helpful with rearranging our seating for shade. Outside patio area was nicely decorated with lots of plants and a waterfall by the tree, very peaceful. Fresh spring rolls were ok but the Tom Kha soup was really good. Pineapple fried rice was really good. They do not serve beer for anyone looking for that. Forgot to take pictures of the food.
Best Thai food in California. Heat is from 1 to 10. I had a 5 and I like spicy but I think that a 3 is more my palate. I would say that is my definition of medium heat.I had the beef drunken noodles and I would go back again and again for those. The mussel appetizer, spring rolls and chicken satay were all excellent with very tasty sauces. The patio hidden at the back was very pleasant to dine in.
Turmeric Thai Garden is a cute, hidden gem in La Jolla. We thought we were lost when we're driving to the restaurant, but there's an unassuming small plaza within the residential area. It is mostly outdoors sitting and they have heaters all around. Cute and warming vibe. The service was quick and we got our food within a few mins of ordering. I ordered the beef pad see ew; it was tasty but a bit salty towards the end. They don't have big menu options but it was enough for this cute spot.
Unpretentious place with excellent food. Staff is friendly and accommodating. I sat outside where there are a lot of plants. Had the mussels and they were phenomenal. Also had Tom yum soup with scallops. I'm used to Tom yum having more vegetables. Since I asked for no cilantro the soup was just the broth (VERY flavorful) with mushrooms and two halved scallops, but everything was delicious and not overcooked. If I come through this area again I would definitely come back!
Accessibility: read until the end of this paragraph as it is important especially for wheelchair users. There are a few disabled parking spots and flat ground from the parking lot onto the sidewalk where this place is. There are tons of short tables to sit at outside in their patio and moveable chairs perfect for wheelchair access. The only thing that is not accessible at all is the bathroom. Way too tiny of a bathroom; a wheelchair will not fit in here at all. There are heaters next to most of the tables outside and there are seats inside, but again, a single toilet and sink, tiny bathroom. Experience: getting here was weird because the restaurant is surrounded by houses and is right in front of a gated neighborhood. I was so relieved to see this place not busy at all on a Friday night! I sat outside In their patio and it was super cute. There was no one sitting at any of the tables near me so it felt very COVID safe. The staff were all wearing masks and some even wearing gloves. The staff were all super friendly and the food was out of this world delicious! I was so surprised at how incredible everything tasted. I absolutely recommend this place, but sadly not for folks who need more room getting around in bathrooms. Price: For three meals, one appetizer and one dessert the cost was around $75. With a tip it was $90-100. This fed 4 adults.
You have to be in the know to find this neighborhood That Restaurant. Its near the top of Mt Soledad in La Jolla but worth the drive. This is our second time here and it is now our favorite Thai food restaurant! We had the "Sea Bass Lime Chili" which was not to spice but just the right flavors. This is my favorite dish so far. We also had and split the "Turmeric Pineapple Fried Rice" with pork. Both dishes are very tasty and filling. We sat outside in the garden area which is really quiet and has a great atmosphere. All in all a 5 Star experience!
Really love this place! Has a cozy garden outdoor seating area with friendly staff and great food. Our favorites are the fresh spring rolls and pad see ew vegan style and yellow curry! Even my toddler loves it. I stop by most times I’m in La Jolla
My wife and I come to eat here regularly or to pick up food. All the dishes we have tried so far have been very flavorful, the outdoor patio is nice, and the service is great - very friendly too. What we appreciate most is their willingness to modify dishes to accommodate my wife’s dietary restrictions, which means the dishes are made from scratch and not pre-made.
We recently dined at Tumeric Thai after a few months absence. It was fairly busy on a Sunday, but we were seated quickly at a very nice patio table Our waiter, Bryan, arrived at the table with a big smile and a friendly word. He efficiently took our order and sent it to the kitchen. We had the shortest wait of all our visits to Tumeric Thai and the food arrived very fresh and hot. I had my usual Spicy Ginger Fish which was moist and covered with juicy vegetables and a wonderful abundance of fresh ginger. This was our best experience yet, mainly due to our waiter, Bryan. We will not wait so long to return! Great food and wonderful staff!
This place is such a sweet gem. We just wanted a light dinner and got the spring rolls and chicken wraps. Perfect and delicious. The hot water with lime was also a refreshing treat!
Lovely little gem off the beaten path. Super nice staff and the flavors were amazing! Really good value too!
We recently celebrated my wife birthday at Turmeric, and it was a truly memorable experience. We had a large party—22 people across two tables—and from start to finish, everything was handled with care and professionalism. Brian, the manager, was incredibly courteous and accommodating, making sure our celebration went smoothly. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the patio was beautifully decorated by the chef’s sister, who clearly put a lot of love and thought into the setup. It added such a personal and tasteful touch to the evening. The food was fantastic, and the service was excellent—which is no small feat with a group our size. While you might expect some hiccups with such a large party, the staff made a clear effort to bring out all the food at the same time. There was only a small mix-up with one guest’s dish, but it was quickly addressed and didn’t take away from the overall experience. From the ambiance to the attention to detail, everything was 5 out of 5. We truly appreciated how the Turmeric team went above and beyond to make the night special. Highly recommend for any special gathering or just a great meal out.
one of the best Thai food I've had in a while. outside patio was nice. servers were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. It's a little hard to find, just outside and to the right of a gated community on top of Mt. Soledad. I'll definitely be back. only negative is the restrooms could use remodeling.
We had the pleasure of having Jerome and his service was AMAZING. They customized all our dishes to meet our strict dietary preferences and he knew all the answers and came up with creative ideas that were better than our own. And he was so kind! Even brought our dog water. At the end of our meal we had a heart warming conversation with Puricha about her 20 years in Chang Mai. I don't think I've ever tipped 30% before but it was well deserved.
We eat here regularly, both dine in and take out. They have delicious authentic Thai food. We have probably eaten half of the options on the menu and haven’t had something we wouldn’t order again. Service can be hit or miss and sometimes they are extremely busy. I recommend making a reservation if you plan to have a weekend dinner here! Their outdoor seating is very lovely The inside can feel a little cramped at times.
The food was excellent, and we chose this restaurant to celebrate Valentine’s Day. It proved to be a wonderful decision, contributing to a memorable evening. The patio was beautifully decorated with flowers and lights, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. For dessert, we enjoyed the fried banana paired with coconut ice cream.
The food was delicious and explosive with sweet and savoury flavours. The service by Jereme was excellent. The atmosphere was nice. It could’ve been better with some music but still worth it. It is still a must eat. Highly recommend.
After a few hours of kayaking in La Jolla, we were craving something hot and satisfying. We stumbled upon this charming spot with beautiful outdoor seating. We started with the Tom Yum soup, which was deliciously flavorful. For the main course, we ordered the pumpkin curry and green curry; both were distinctly tasty and well-prepared. Although there was a mix-up with our order, the staff handled it with professionalism, offering to exchange the dish and letting us keep the incorrect curry. Their courteous and accommodating service made a great impression. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Thai food.
Found this spot from a Reddit thread suggestion. Didn’t disappoint. Good food, quiet and quaint atmosphere and good service. Super cute hidden and local spot💛
I absolutely love Thai food, and this place is amazing. Great service and great chef who has been at it for over 10 years in one of LABS greatest and he is here now. Come find this hidden gem in LA Jolla.
The food is delicious and the price is reasonable. The wait is not long. The service is good. There is enough parking.
We found this place on Yelps, which was a very good review so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant settings were very warm and cozy. You choices of dining inside or outside were up to you. Either way it was very nice small ambience place. The food were delicious and good prices. The noodles were right and were not overly cooked. We ordered a plate of Pad Thai and Drunken noodles. It came with the bowl of soup which was very excellent. Services here were very friendly and professional.
The atmosphere is very calming and the food is delicious. The food was very fresh and came very quickly. I highly recommend if you like authentic thai food.
Amazing and authentic Thai food! My family is from Los Angeles, so we have been to many great Thai places on Ventura blvd, encino, Pasadena Burbank, etc… and turmeric Thai garden is our family’s favorite by far!!... If you are in San Diego, this place is a must visit. We order the tom kha soup, chicken satay, pad Thai, spring rolls, and beef jerky. Everything is well priced and the atmosphere is great too. Every other Thai restaurant we’ve tried doesn’t measure up to this place. It’s the gold standard for us. We highly recommend!
Turmeric Thai serves up some of the best Thai food in San Diego! We catered food from Turmeric Thai for my dad’s birthday and it was delicious! Since we needed the catering before they opened on Sunday, the staff at Turmeric Thai accommodated us by coming in early (I believe they open at 4pm and we were able to pick up our order at 2pm). They were right on time and they had everything we needed and more (sauces, napkins, beautifully sliced cucumbers and limes, etc.) We just stopped by today and we were met with the same delicious food and the same kind and gentle service. Turmeric Thai will provide you good food and even sweeter service. The location is a bit hidden, but it’s worth it - especially if you’re visiting Mt Soledad. So far, we’ve had the turmeric fried rice, drunken noodles, panang, and eggplant stir fry, and I’d recommend all of these dishes. The food and service is great whether you’re doing dine-in, takeaway, and catering!
Food was very good. Servers were good. The place is cute but one point less: the tables were not clean and the bathrooms are in bad shape.
Food was good but not as great as reviewed. We enjoyed chicken satay, chicken eggplant over rice and tom yum soup. We had very high expectations and it was just good. They were crazy-busy on UCSD graduation weekend, so the delivery driver had to wait a very long time. He was apologetic and the food was warm when it arrived.
Delicious fresh thai food ❤️😋the outdoor seating area is soo beautiful 😍❤️ and the staff are soo friendly, attentive and helpful ❤️ the portions are small , so order more items ❤️ i thought two items was enough but i ordered one more entree to go 😎❤️😋 the only complaint is that it was hard to find , i parked in the parking lot where Google said to go but there was no big sign to where the restaurant was. The market that is there is closed so anyone can get confused if the building was available to look around for the restaurant. I was determined to find it because the reviews looked delicious and it was . Hopefully they can get better signage on the outside so they can be even more popular with their fresh Thai food 😎❤️
Came here for a late lunch with three friends. Ordered pad see-ew with tofu, beef drunken noodles, calamari pad Thai, curry with beef, and basil eggplant to share (not pictured). My drunken noodles were top notch, although some morsels of beef were *very* tough. Our shared eggplant dish was great; nice texture and an amazing sauce to mix with a side of rice. As for the rest, a generally positive consensus—good flavors (but slightly muted), great portion sizes, and as authentic as it can get! Loved the hospitality, the silverware, the seating (which is cushioned if dining outdoors), and the overall peaceful vibe. Even though the location is tucked away, come here if you want a leisurely luncheon! It may even be a nice date spot too. Just make sure to bring around $25 per person; our bill split perfectly somehow ($100.44).
Located in a cozy spot with friendly staff and food is always always fresh!
It was a pleasant surprise to find a hidden restaurant. It has a nice and cozy outdoor dining area. Papaya salad and Tumeric Pineapple Fried Rice excellent. Spicy cod was ok, while the sauce was good but the cod's soft texture didn't seem to work together. Traditional Thai ice tea was good not overly sweet.
I recently tried this Thai restaurant for the first time, located conveniently near La Jolla Shore Beach, just 10 minutes from La Jolla Shore. We ordered the yellow curry and Pad See Ew, both of which were delicious. The Tom Kha soup was full of flavor, though I found the spice level to be milder than expected. I ordered a level 6 out of 10 for spice, but it wasn't as hot as I anticipated, so if you're a fan of spicier food, consider ordering a higher level. What really stood out to me, however, was the exceptional service. The staff was incredibly kind, efficient, and attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I’ll definitely return for the great food and top-notch service!
This place was nice. I got the pad see ew with shrimp, papaya salad, and chicken satay. The food wasn’t completely suited to my tastes as I wanted a bit more fish flavor in the salad and the pad see ew, but the shrimp in the pad see ew was delicious and the servings were big. For those that like their food a bit less sweet and salty, this place would be great. It’s all up to preference.
Went in for lunch with a friend and we got Thai fried rice and pad Thai both with chicken. The food was very pleasant and spiced just right. Service was good and the waiter was attentive to our table. The place was nice and the outdoor patio was relaxing and my only suggestion is to add music as I could definitely feel it was lacking and I think it would have improved the experience a lot.
I ate lunch at Turmeric Thai Kitchen and it was an overall really pleasant experience. I ordered the thai fried rice which came in a large portion and was spiced just right. The other dishes ordered were also very tasty according to the rest of my party. Prices were affordable and the service was great -- I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for Thai food.
Great find! Somewhat of a different route to arrive but the food and atmosphere were great. Spice levels are a great addition, truly appreciated our server understanding.
The drinks were good, the steak that I got was very tender though. The steak felt like it was 80% fat but the real steak parts tasted good! And the rice is okay!
Came here with friends for a weekday lunch. It was pretty empty except for 2 other parties. We sat outside on the cute patio. That was where everyone was seated. The interior rooms had furniture that looked dated. The outdoor patio has nice succulent planters around and lots of shade. The service was great. The young man who was our waiter that day made sure we weren't going to feel forgotten. He checked on us often and always with a smile. We all got the lunch special. I'm used to spicy Thai food and ordered a level 7 for my vegetarian drunken noodles. It wasn't spicy, but it was still good with lots of vegetables and tofu. The salad was ok and the vegetarian egg roll was plain.
I loved this restaurant when we visited last summer, as the food was incredibly fresh-tasting and was cooked just right, so I was surprised at how disappointed I was by the food during our visit this spring. My husband and I ordered the same dishes as last year, but neither tasted anywhere near as fresh as last summer. We were especially disappointed by my dish, as the tofu was undercooked and the fresh basil was left out initially. On checking whether I had the right dish, they tossed in some tough basil stems with a handful of leaves and buds attached to them. I've read online that some people use the stems and buds in cooking, so it's possible that this might be a cooking style difference; since I don't remember having noticed stems and buds in my food last year, my assumption is that it's not a stylistic choice. I asked when we paid for our meals whether anything had changed in the last year since we weren't seeing the same quality as last year, and I just got a response that nothing had changed. There didn't seem to be much interest in why I was asking or what differences I was seeing from last year to this year, and I think that lack of interest was the most disappointing thing of all during the visit. I hope our experience was just bad luck and/or misunderstandings, as all of the reviews I've seen are strongly positive like our experience last year; that said, we don't plan to return the next time we're in town.
Ordered Panang Beef Curry and Combined Seafood Tom Yum for delivery, was very disappointed. Let's first talk about the curry. The curry paste was very watery-- it literally runs down my spoon like soup. I can't really taste the coconut or peanut favor that one would really expect in Panang curry. The beef was extremely tough, likely due to the poor choice of cut or the low quality of the beef itself. The potatoes that come in the curry feels like they were cooked separately and added in at the last minute, because they did not absorb any of the flavor in the curry and felt very plain. A huge disgrace for curry. The Tom Yum didn't fare much better. The soup was weirdly sweet yet lacks in sourness. The saving factor was that the seafood was very fresh and tasty, which is also the sole reason I did not give a one star. Does not recommend, would totally not order again.
I ordered online and it took ONE HOUR for it to be ready. I had to check with the host multiple times and it seemed like they were cooking one dish at a time. So when we got all our food, some of the dishes were cold. Ridiculous. I’m not coming back here. UPDATE: I’m one of those people who care more about the food than the service so here we go. Food review: Food was disappointing. The noodles for the Pad Thai were too overcooked and soft. Pad see ew was decent but not amazing. Drunken noodles were my favorite of all the noodles but I’ve had better. Papaya salad came with 2 quarter-sliced lettuce that took up half the container, so that was disappointing. Tom yum soup was good but I’ve never had a bad one before. Overall, I wouldn’t come back here even if the food came out quickly.
The employee with glasses is very rude; I think he thinks he owns the place. If he acts racist and rude again when I return, I will file a complaint with the head office !!!
