I really like the HAMAGURI RAMEN at Hinodeya Campbell Town. The broth is flavorful, the noodles are perfectly cooked, and the toppings are generous. Everything else I've had there is good too. If you like ramen, you should try this place. It's a hidden gem!
Good ramen place. They now open to 11pm for folks like to go there to drink sake, etc (Japanese bar vibe).
The creamy vegan ramen is very very good. The creamy broth with spinach noodles in and of itself is delicious but the toppings stole the show. The crispy Kale, sweet tofu Inari, the crunchy garlic topping were made to perfection. My only critique would be that the optional eggs were not properly marinated for flavor. They have a cozy ish patio perfect for a great date night as well. They are also open relaticely late until 11 pm which adds to the service as well. Highly recommend this place.
SO DELICIOUS!!! Absolutely loved the Creamy Vegan Ramen. Each element was just perfect: the crispy kale on top was too delicious to dunk into the noodle soup so I ate it all immediately, the noodles were flavorful and very plentiful, the fried sweet tofu was a perfect contrast to the spicy broth. I can't wait to go back again and again!!
Great place. Great staff. Great ramen. Great matcha soft serve. Okay parking. Oh... Don't complain about the prepay. That's how they actually do it in Japan.
I'm glad I tried this ramen place. There are 3 vegan ramen options on the menu which is more than most ramen places I've found so far. The food is delicious and spice level customizable. There are also some vegetarian starter options which were good. Good sake, including a sampler option. Service is prompt and the staff friendly, though you order from the table by scanning the QR code. Good ambience, has seating indoors and outdoors. There are about 12 parking spots but they do get filled up. Will definitely be returning to this place again.
I previously went to the Newark location and thought it was okay, but I came here the other day, had the spicy miso ramen with butter and corn and it was quite good! The atmosphere of the place is really nice and cozy, with some cool lighting and design choices. Really convenient use of ordering through QR code menu, and I hope more restaurants start using this 😁
It’s a really cute place and service is super fast. Once they brought up the matcha salt, I knew they are something else. All the appetizers are wonderful and uniquely tasty. You can taste the effort they put into their food. The matcha ice cream was one of the best for me as well. And the ramen, I don’t know how they could make wheat noodles so great. At first I wasn’t too sure about the clear looking broth, since I’m more of a tonkatsu thick broth gal. But once I started I couldn’t stop eating - there’s so much flavor in it! The toppings of the ramen were okay.
The spicy ramen was So flavorful. The ramen noodles were perfectly Al dente. Soft with the right amount of chewy texture. The chicken karaage was juicy and tender. Honestly I wouldn't get the karaage again because of the price to the portion. Might be just the greedy part of me. I also tend to choose non-meat options anyways. Because I gave was also accompanied with this matcha salt seasoning on the side. I wasn't sure how to pair the two together other than dipping the chicken and the powder 😅. So if anyone knows let me know You either order through the QR code provided on the table. I witnessed full service option. The customer service was good.
My son and i couldnt be happier with the quality of food and the awesome service. We will definitely be back very soon. 5 Stars across the board!
Came here for randomly for some late night ramen and was not disappointed. Got the spicy miso and loved it. You can scan a QR code to pay or a server will help you. The food was out quickly. Nicely decorated and a calming atmosphere. You have an option of sitting inside or outside, but the outside has roof but not heated. Very cute outside also.
This was one of the first ramen places I tried when I moved to the bay area, and it still holds up 2 years later. Had a great birthday dinner here last month. The ramen broth is quite flavorful with a good amount of spice, and the food tastes fresh. One of my favorites. Limited parking is the only issue with the location, I would recommend skipping the lot entirely and finding somewhere else to park.
I'm so glad Hinodeya opened a location in Campbell because now I don't need to drive to SF just to eat there. They're one of my favorite ramen restaurants here in the bay area. Their broth is mostly dashi stock based so it is healthier which really sets it apart from most ramen shops here with creamier, fattier ramens like tonkotsu. I usually get the signature Hinodeya ramen or the clam ramen. Both are excellent and full of flavor! My friends and family also love the Tori paitan here. All of their ramen also has the option to customize spiciness. Appetizers here are also really tasty. I usually order the karaage and fried oysters. Ordering from here is done through your phone, which is nice because you can take your time looking through the menu without pressure. I have not gotten take out from here but I've seen that they offer really good deals for like 4 portions of ramen. Service and great and it is a bit pricey but honestly it's priced similarly to other good ramen shops. Overall a wonderful ramen shop, especially when you want a lighter option!
Sister of their SF Japan town location, the ramen is pretty good. I tried a sake flight for the first time and it was a sweet experience. Ordering is straightforward through the barcode and using their website. Food comes pretty fast and in a good order; drinks, appetizers and lastly food. It is supposed to be crowded ~7pm. We got there closer to 8 on a Tuesday night and a table was available. It was still packed a little before 9. Parking behind the place but could be full if the restaurant is crowded.
The ramen is consistent, highly customizable, and there's a good selection of appetizers. Each table has a QR code to scan and order from your phone. Would highly recommend.
If you like thick noodle in Ramen, i would definitely recommend this restaurant in San Jose. When we looked around menu in first time, the price was little higher than we thought. However, We were satisfied with veggie cream ramen, clam ramen and vegetable fries! Also, Macha ice cream was really great! It was not sweet and I loved crunch ice cream cone.
Amazing dishes with so much flexibility to adjust ingredients based on your taste. We are vegetarian 🌱 and we wanted to try this place as their menu has some vegetarian options. They are usually busy so make sure you add yourself on Yelp wait list- you can skip the line there. We loved the veg gyoza 🥟 and creamy ramen. Great spot for vegetarian to try the ramen 🍜. We will be coming back! Staff is helpful and service is good.
Quality ramen and you can tell they have passion for the craft. The gyoza was perfectly crisped and the sauce was very complimentary and not over powering. We ordered the butter corn ramen, with extra egg, extra spinach and extra bamboo shoot….needless to say we arrived with empty bellies and left with full bellies. The ramen broth was nice n creamy with a subtle spice. We ordered and paid with our phone via QR, and the service was prompt. Across the board it was marvelous.
Most ramen places' noodle tend to have that strong alkalinity after-taste on their noodles but not this one. The spicy miso ramen with cream corn is a bowl of heaven in rich dashi broth. Their chashu rice bowl and chicken karaage also don't disappoint! The new Summer Snow Cold Ramen is pretty unique. Worth to give it a try if there is no soy allergy (they use that to make the broth snow White).
I have been a local customer of Hinodeya since the establishment opened a few minutes away from me on Bascom Avenue. I have spent the better half of the last four years living between Campbell and Boston, and in my frequent travels Hinodeya has been the last meal I seek before I leave Campbell, the first meal I seek out when I return, and an often visit for me in the weeks when I retain my presence in San Jose. To describe this restaurant, the words that come to mind are consistent, peaceful, and uplifting. To be honest, I can only speak to their House Ramen as it comes, as well as the Asahi Super Dry Draft, since these are the only two items I have ever requested here, and they probably will only ever be the only two items I request. I have never been let down by this combination. The ramen tastes the same each time - warm, flavorful, and so, so delicious. It's as if one could put a taste to the feeling of sinking into a warm blanket on a cold, rainy morning. Furthermore, finding Asahi Super Dry on draft is a rare occasion, and certainly a momentous one. I would describe its crisp, refreshing taste is if one were sitting on a bench overlooking the winterswept peaks of the Akaishi Mountains whilst a cool breeze nips at the tip of one's nose. One of my favorite aspects of Hinodeya is the soft piano playlist that fills the space - most often covers of various Studio Ghibli soundtracks. It calms the mind and eases tension, and even though I'm proud to have seen this location become a popular staple in my neighborhood, I will always appreciate the times when the dining room is empty and I can enjoy this peaceful ambience which carefully fills Hinodeya with a soothing atmosphere. While I certainly enjoy bringing my friends to Hinodeya for a wonderful meal, it was here where I first learned how much joy one can find in eating alone in order to engage with some yummy food. To others, this location may be just another regular ramen shop, but to me, it is one which ties my soul back to where I grew up, and continues to inspire my return to Campbell every chance I get. Hinodeya Campbell Town delivers exceptional cuisine that is worth a special journey, which, in my humble opinion, makes this establishment worthy of a Michelin Star.
My second visit to Hinodeya in Capbell CA. Love the pleasant atmosphere amd frienly and attentive staff. The food 8s ratkanle and im told its aithentic Japanese cuisine. We shared the "Chashu bowl-Rice, Chashu pork, Corn, Green onions, Soft boiled egg, Red ginger, Sesame seed, Dried seaweed, Mayo sauce and Spicy pork bowl- Rice, Ground pork, Spicy menma(bamboo shoot), Soft boiled egg, Green onions, Dried seaweed, Sesame seed, Red ginger, Mayo sauce." Spicy was pretty mild compared to Thai food. I loved the flavors and texture. We found that one rice bowl would've been suffient amount of food for two people.
Limited vegan choices, all were good. Liked the white sesame broth that was recommended. Overall chill place with great and efficient service
My daughter picked this place out after our matinee show. We got there at 5 pm and there was only one group ahead of us. Within 15 minutes, the place was full. All ordering was done via QR code. I'm not sure if I'm a fan of this yes. It does seem less personal, but you do get your food faster. Also, the tip options (18%, 20%, and 25%-I think) seeem on the high end considering the limited wait staff interaction you have. My daughter chose the hamaguri ramen as she thought ramen with clams was different and worth trying. I chose the Yuzu Ramen (vegan) made with a wheat noodle. One comment is that they charge extra for spice level beyond mild. That was a bit of a turnoff as I think spices are relatively cheap and should be part of the gratis offerings. Food was just over $50 for the two of us (she had ice cream) but no drinks, so a bit on the high end. With taxes and tips, we were out $65.
Super tasty! Stopped in for an early dinner, didn’t have to wait Had a few apps along with the Beef Bowl my wife had the chicken ramen. All were delicious
I got the spicy miso butter corn ramen. Pretty good but probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here again especially since it's base 20 dollars and not that mindblowing. My friend got the chicken paitan ramen which also tasted good to me but she wished there was more broth. In general the portions aren't that big for the price. For appetizers we got chicken karaage, vegetable tempura, and fried oysters. All were pretty tasty.
A hidden gem! If you're tired of waiting in long lines for ramen I'd recommend hinodeya. They have seasonal menu items (like cold ramen for the summer) and everything is flavorful while still feeling light. Their fried appetizers were cooked to perfection too. Definitely check them out! You can check in on yelp. There is a small parking lot so you have to get pretty lucky for parking.
After a terrible lunch experience at another restaurant we came to Hinodeya and absolutely loved it. Got the spicy miso ramen and chicken karage. Perfect! The service is considerate and kind
The ramen here is excellent! I always get the spicy miso ramen. This time I tried the tofu noodles and it was delicious! It's a small little place with indoor and patio seating. You scan the QR code and order from there and the servers bring out your food and check on you periodically. Try this place out, you definitely won't be disappointed!
I hardly give good reviews to ramen places because there aren't that many good ones in the bay area. This is one of the best I've had here. Their chashu is fabulous - tender without a lot of fat. Most places I've been to before served dried and hard and super fat chashu just like chewing cardboard.... The clam soup was excellent. I normally don't drink much ramen soup but this one is exceptional. I wished the ramen could be more chewy. Be careful of the spicy level though, we've got mild and it's pretty spicy. The chashu rice was soooooo good with red ginger! I hardly see red ginger here. The seasoning was perfect. The hot sencha was pretty good as well if you are into tea tasting. Matcha strawberry soft-serve was pretty good as well. We will definitely be back again very soon.
Friend took me here for my birthday, we both hadn’t been before! We ordered a shrimp tempura starter that had unique dipping sauces. We also ordered the Hinodeya ramen with hot crispy garlic and creamy vegan ramen! They had lots of other tasty looking items on the menu that I can’t wait to try next time! There is indoor and outdoor covered seating. Their parking is very limited, about 8 spots, but you can park in the lot on the left side during certain hours (see sign picture).
I tried the gyoza, chicken miso ramen, and the vegan ramen—and wow, the vegan ramen was absolutely mind-blowing! The broth was rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying, something you wouldn’t expect from a plant-based option. The chicken miso ramen was also delicious, with perfectly balanced flavors and tender chicken. The gyoza had the perfect crisp on the outside and juicy filling inside.
The food was FANTASTIC; HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Service was very fast & professional, atmosphere was chill. Went with my roommate friend & ordered the butter corn spicy miso ramen, level 1 spicy. Somebody calling astronomer, because that Ramen was out of this world. I want to return for round 2.
Hinodeya Ramen is a fantastic spot that truly delivers on flavor, proving that the best culinary experiences don't always need a flashy setting. While the ambiance is certainly very normal and straightforward, the food is anything but. The ramen here is the star of the show and is very tasty. The experience starts with a flavorful broth that is rich and satisfying—it’s the kind of broth you want to finish every last drop of. Paired with tasty noodles that have just the right chew, and a good amount of veggies to round out the bowl, the main dish is deeply comforting and well-balanced. We also highly recommend trying the fritters. They were good on their own, but here's a pro tip for maxing out the flavor: dip them into the ramen broth! This move adds an incredible textural and savory boost, making them an essential side order. Overall, Hinodeya Ramen is a must-visit for serious ramen lovers. Ignore the low-key setting and focus on the steaming, delicious bowls of perfection they serve up.
Hinodeya Campbell Town delivered a cozy, elevated ramen experience that impressed all generations in our family. The dashi broth was rich yet balanced, and the noodles had great texture. We also enjoyed the karaage and takoyaki—crispy, flavorful, and not overly greasy. The space is intimate but well-organized, and the staff were attentive without being overbearing. What stood out most was how welcoming the environment felt. Our group included both elders and younger siblings, and everyone found something to enjoy. The menu is clear, the flavors are comforting, and the overall vibe is calm and inviting. It’s rare to find a ramen spot that feels both refined and family-friendly—this one earns a full 5 stars from us.
Went in on a Sunday around 12:30pm. As soon as we went went inside a table for 4 was immediately available. No problems with parking outside before walking to the place. Though i can see how it might be tougher on busier days Food was excellent. Ordered the following: Spicy Miso Ramen - bonito & seaweed soup base with chicken & pork oil, along with chashu pork and bamboo shoots Hinodeya Ramen - dashi & scallop soup base with scallop & pork oil, along with charsiu pork and bamboo shoots Beef Bowl - sukiyaki beef, soft boiled egg, teriyaki sauce, seaweed and rice Chashu Bowl - chashu pork, soft boiled egg, mayo sauce, seaweed and rice Sweet Chili chicken Bowl - fried chicken, soft boiled egg, sweet chili sauce, seaweed and rice Service was also excellent, Tom checked in with us onnour specific requests, if any, everything was served well Atmostphere was lovely, excellent for conversations.
My friends and I agreed to eat at Hinondeya for lunch after carefully reviewing their menu online. Ramen is just perfect for a cold day. We got the chicken curry, Hinondeya special and Tha Spicy Miso woth extra egg. I like the Spicy Misu because it has the right amount of spiciness and the broth is rich in flavor. It is very affordable too and the service is really quick. It quite famous becaus there is always a line at the door but because of the quick service the wait is not that long. Parking is tough though because they have a small lot but you can park on the street nearby and its a short 3 to 5 mins walk. I would definitely recommend trying out this place for a good hearty meal.
Overall great place with variety of Vegan Ramen options available! Service was good and plenty of seating available! Portion size was perfect! Shishito peppers- 5/5 Bamboo shoot- 3/5 Vegan Yuzu Ramen- 4/5( more of orange flavor) Zen Ramen- 5/5 ( Kale was little oily but rest was good) Spicy miso ramen- 5/5
I recently visited Hinodeya Campbell Town, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! From the moment I stepped in, the cozy ambiance and friendly staff made me feel right at home. What I Loved: Ramen Variety: I ordered not one, but two ramens, and each bowl was a flavor explosion. The broth was rich, and the noodles had the perfect chewiness. Whether you’re a fan of spicy miso or prefer a vegan option, Hinodeya has you covered. Edamame: The edamame appetizer was fresh, lightly salted, and a great way to start the meal. Dog-Friendly Atmosphere: Hinodeya Campbell Town is not only a treat for humans but also welcomes our furry friends. Their outdoor seating area is perfect for enjoying a bowl of ramen with your canine companion by your side. Friendly Service: The staff at Hinodeya Campbell Town were attentive and welcoming. They made sure my dining experience was top-notch. Overall Impression: Hinodeya Campbell Town is a gem for ramen lovers. Whether you’re a seasoned ramen enthusiast or a first-timer, this place won’t disappoint.
The fried oysters are absolutely delicious—perfectly crispy on the outside and tender, juicy on the inside. They’re so flavorful that you don’t even need the dipping sauce that comes with them. The pork in the ramen is cooked beautifully, with fat that simply melts in your mouth. The clam ramen soup is rich and satisfying, and it comes with plenty of clams. However, a few of them had a slightly sandy texture, and some broken shell fragments made chewing a bit challenging.
This place feel really authentic. While I enjoyed my ramen I wish I had toppings to add like hot sauce or chili sauce. No condiments on our table. I would come back to try a more spicy option. Mine was very umami but was good. Price point was on par with the quality of food. Will definitely come back. This may be our new ramen spot. I like that you pay when you order so you don’t have to wait to leave. Very smart option.
Waitlist system was confusing. Different max # in party between Google and Yelp reservation system. Called the restaurant and they couldn't give us a good answer. When we got to the restaurant, the wait staff told us even with a reservation, they couldn't give us a large table (for 9) and we'd have to split into 2 tables at different times. 🤔 Food was good. Service was friendly and fast. Love their noodle options, especially tofu noodle
My son wanted ramen, so we wanted to give a new ramen place a try and found this place. The parking is small and has about 12 parking spots and one Ada parking spot. Luckily, someone was leaving when we got there, so we got a parking spot right away. I would suggest checking on Yelp to see the wait time and joining in on the wait list if the wait is long because they put your name down on an iPad linked to Yelp. Our party of 5 got seated outside, and even though they had fans, it was hot, but we did not mind. You order your food through your phone, and you have to pay as soon as you order, which we did not like because it asked for gratuity already. We loved the drink menu options. The sparkling sake was very good and left me wanting more. The Yuki Otoko had a wine taste to it, but it was good. The house ramen lacked flavor, and my son, who loves ramen, did not finish his ramen. Those in my group who got house ramen were getting my broth to mix in to theirs to add some flavor to it. I got the spicy miso butter corn, which I thought was OK, but to me, it was not spicy.
Regular ramen: The soup was very good and it was nice and hot. I highly recommended everyone to get the crispy garlic addition. It's free. Very crispy garlic and bit spicy though. Chicken karage: nice and crispy but I've had better. Macha salt is a nice touch but I didn't care much either way. The noodle texture is also pretty good
Happy to see this gem in Campbell. It’s my favorite casual ramen spot here in South Bay. The texture of the noodles are so unique and I haven’t seen any other place replicate it. The signature ramen and spicy miso ramen are always good, the chicken kareage is amazing too. Decent drink selection too, from sake to high-balls. Presentation of ramen is always beautiful. The texture of their noodles are unique, and it’s always tasty! From their pork to vegan ramens, I would recommend! They do QR code menu/ordering, which is handy. My only critique is that the parking spot in the back is painfully small sometimes when it gets too crowded.
I like the fried oyster appetizer here. The chicken karaage was very well-fried too but not as special. The portions are small for everything. If I just order ramen, I don't feel completely full. I like the texture of their noodles though so I have come here several times. Also because they are conveniently open until 11pm, unlike most surrounding ramen places that close at 9pm. You order via QR and there is outdoor seating.
Pretty good ramen. Lighter soup base - beware as the garlic topping can overwhelm the taste of the broth. Wish it came with more chashu for the price. Noodles are very good with excellent chew. Takoyaki was tasty but needed more octopus in my view. There’s usually a wait at lunch, took about 40 minutes for my party of 2 on a Saturday. Overall not my favorite but definitely worth revisiting.
What I really liked about the place was the quick service and the fact that they welcome you with a drum and a greeting. There were two ramen options for vegan/vegetarians. We went with the creamy ramen + spinach noodles. You can customize the spice levels for the ramen (there are 4) and they charge extra for higher spiciness. My favorite part of the Ramen is the sweet inari that melts in your mouth. The place was well lit and lively in the afternoon. It costed approx 45 for two people for 2 ramens and one appetizer. I highly recommend the vegetarian gyoza as well, it pairs so well with the sesame sauce that you will not feel like eating frozen gyoza at home, ever! We always order the vegetarian gyoza whenever we go to Hinodeya. Suggestions: - Please increase the amount of vegetables in the ramen without having to add extra toppings. Ramen Restaurants like Marufuku do this very well. - Please make the spicy edamame vegan (I was told by one of the waiters that it is not vegan/contains fish sauce) - Please allow vegetable substitutions.
The food here is delicious. We will come back to try more dishes. My husband thinks this place deserves a 5-star. But we are still hungry after having lunch here. There seems to be not enough protein. My husband comes for their Sake selection. Sake Flight 1 has three cups. Bunraku is excellent. SEQUOIA is good. SHINKAME is so-so. Fried oysters are very fresh and cooked just right. So are the clams in Hamaguri Ramen. We didn't count the clams, but they look fewer than on the menu. The green thing coming with the fried oysters is Shishito pepper, an unusual find in the area. The vegan Zen Ramen tastes decent, although the kale is burnt and tough to chew.
Although this is a ramen bar, I think I would be more likely to come back for a snow weizen beer and some appetizers. Not that there was anything wrong with the ramen but the chicken kaarage with green tea salt and takoyaki went so well the beer, I am already craving that combination! I also really enjoyed the match soft serve ice cream (and am hoping someday they add black sesame as an ice cream flavor...5 stars will be given with that review!).
Creamy ramen is amazing here. Acorn Squash, Broccolini, and Tofu are the highlights! Really wish they offered more veggies for the price they charge, though. Green Gyoza tastes out of the world. Especially, with the sesame side sauce. There's something so good about the sesame sauce that I don't think anyone can ever recreate it even if they have the recipe :) Spicy Edamame has a nice kick to it (do check with them if there’s no fish/oyster sauce if you’re vegetarian as I’ve heard different servers saying different things regarding that) Ambience in the restaurant was pretty good too! Cons: - I hope they offer more quantity for the price they charge.. - They don’t allow replacement of toppings on the ramen. For example, they don’t replace mushroom with kale. I find this dumb. Almost every other restaurant allows you to do this…
We just moved into the area and to thank our family for helping us move, we treated them to taken dinner at Hinodeya. Dining in during COVID limited us to sitting in 2 separate tables because of our party size. Anyway, we sat in the patio. We ordered the spicy garlic edamame, chicken kaarage, fried oysters, a chicken ramen and the house ramen. Everything was super flavorful and delicious. The edamame is your typical edamame. It had a little sprinkling of spice but not spicy. The kiddies were able to enjoy them too. Kaarage and the oysters has a super crunchy batter, seasoned beautifully, with the most tender chicken and succulent oyster. The chicken ramen broth was really luscious. It had the fatty creamy texture like the tonkatsu broth but yet it felt light. It came with a handful of raw spinach, a shiitake mushroom, a piece of nori, half a jammy egg, and two pieces of chicken "char siu". Only thing I'd change is to cook the spinach. The kiddies devoured the house ramen before I had a chance to snap a picture or get a little sample but it looked that they enjoyed it. Ended the dinner with an ice cream float. They make a soft serve in-house. You can choose between 5 or 6 different sodas. They picked ramune, the Japanese marble soda. Something sweet to end the evening. It tasted like a combination of ramune and cream soda. A bit sweet for my tasting but on a hot summer day or night, it's definitely a treat!
A great ramen shop around Campbell. The ramen is light with a bit of chewiness. The broth has is own special vibe. For the miso ramen, it packs with flavor. For the clams ramen, it fills with the taste of the ocean. The fried chicken is a bit on the dry side. There are some selections of Japanese beer if you are into it, not bad i will say.
We decided to try a new Ramen spot, the wife is good at finding new places. We came here and parking is limited. More parking is available after 6pm at the lots next door. Loved the building and how it looked. We waited a bit before getting seated as it was somewhat busy. Sat outside and they have it well covered from the sun but felt a bit stuffy due to that. We had to order food from the QR/website. You pay and tip before receiving main service. We placed the order and drinks came out quick. We were just missing a coke but was rectified quick once I mentioned it. The drink menu was nice and featured a lot of imported selections. We ordered mainly the house ramen and wife got the butter corn miso. We felt the house ramen was light. Not lacking flavor, but not with the umami flavor we usually get from other places. But the butter corn one was delicious. So not sure if something was missing from the house broth or that's how it was. Other than that we had a good experience but would more than likely get the miso rather than the house.
The restaurant has a small parking lot in the back and it's kinda small inside. They had a lot of cute decorations and I love the small lamp on the table. The food was good but it's definitely way too expensive for the portion. I did not like how you have to pay extra for the spice. We got spicy miso and it wasn't even spicy. I wish they actually put out the spices on the table or make it free to adjust the spice. Additionally, you have to pay first before receiving your food. If it was more cheaper, I would come back. Two bowls cost about $50 and they do have desserts.
This was the first we tried this ramen place. No reservation but join waiting list online is available. We only waited for about 10 minutes. The staff were friendly. Ramen is a bit hard (to me as different preferences for individuals) but still good. Soup is nice and not very salty. I would recommend this restaurant for someone like reman to try. I didn’t try its dessert as we were full. But, they look great and tasty on the pictures. I would like to try if I go next time.😋 By the way, parking spaces are limited.
I stopped by Hinodeya Ramen recently and overall, the food was pretty satisfying. I had the spicy miso ramen, which had the perfect amount of heat and flavor, definitely recommend it if you like a little kick. The chicken karaage was also delicious. Service was quick and friendly, though ordering through the mobile device was a little clunky. Not a huge deal, but worth noting. Now for the downsides: parking is a nightmare. Their lot is tiny, and you can’t park in any of the neighboring lots (they’re strictly for other businesses). We ended up parking across the street at Denny’s, which wasn’t ideal, especially since the area doesn’t feel super safe at night. Also… $10 for a draft beer?! That felt way overpriced, especially considering a whole bowl of ramen is around $18. I couldn’t really justify it, and it definitely took away from the overall experience. So while the food was great and the vibe inside is nice, I’d only recommend coming here if you’re within walking distance or don’t mind hunting for parking...and if you’re okay skipping the beer. I probably wouldn’t come back just because of those two things, but the ramen itself was solid.
Great Dashi Ramen - the vegetarian/vegan versions are wonderful too. Savory - full of 'umami. Tried the spicy miso ramen with chicken - awesome and beautifully presented. Appetizers were hit or miss. Takoyaki (octopus) was awesome. Edamame was a little under salted. Shisheto peppers were perfectly done. Good beers including Asahi Super Dry although wish they were chilled more. Good portions. Prices not low but I felt they were reasonable - about $20 for a big bowl and around $6 for appetizers and beer. Cons : - Long waits during evenings - use yelp to book a table online. They'll only seat you if everyone in your party is there - Parking is hard to find in their lot so you have to wander about nearby to find it - Seating is a bit industrial - cramped and uncomfortable . They have patio seating too - Noise level on the high side - Menu and ordering is using QR codes - you need to use your phone to order and pay first! Considering the quality of the food, the price and portions it's absolutely worth a visit. I enjoyed many s evening there!
Good flavour, noodle texture, broth richness, and overall experience. You can customise your ramen with variety of options like corn, seaweed, mushrooms, tofu etc. this is the first time I tried “sweet fried tofu” which was good. For vegetarians like me, there are only 3 options from which you can choose from. I would say not worth the price! But great service. Wait time was just 5-7mins and check in was pretty smooth as well.
This place does not take reservations, so only walk-ins are accepted only. Party of 6 was on the waitlist and we waited around 20 minutes outside in the cold since the restaurant does not have a spacious waiting area. Full party must be there before seating. Even though they have a private lot, it is a safety hazard for having a small, cramped lot. I tried my luck in finding a spot, but it was already full around 8:45pm, and it was difficult to maneuver, especially with other cars around. If you try to get out from the parking lot, there will be incoming cars, which will force them to back out into the street, so careful driving or a collision will ensue. HIGHLY recommend that you park across the street where the 7/11, find parking close by, or carpool. Finally seated, the ambience was intimate; the atmosphere does resemble a traditional Japanese ramen bar. I really enjoyed the music played either Miyazaki film scores or classical, so nice touch to the classy aesthetic of the restaurant. A lot of restaurants have adapted to using scannable QR codes, and I'm glad this one did as well. What I ordered was the House Ramen with extra sweet fried tofu and extra chasu pork. The broth, overall, was light and full of flavor, but there was a salty aftertaste. The chasu pork was cooked well, which left the meat tender and juicy, especially when mixing in with the broth. The tofu was a sweet surprise since I had never tasted tofu like that, and it did balance out the mild saltiness of the broth. The fishcake was a nice touch, reminiscent of ramen from Naruto. Nice venue, but would not come again :)
I can’t believe service fee is prepaid. No server care aside from serving the food. Talking about food. The hamaguri ramen is a special dish if you decide to try this restaurant. I recommend spinach noodle as choice of noodle. While having the food, I can’t help thinking why we can’t even get fed with one ramen bowl in a lot of ramen stores.
This is a very good restaurant with exceptional food. Once you are seated and ordered the service is very prompt as well. The problem is the experience from the time you enter the restaurant to the time you are seated. It is possibly one of the most discourteous welcome I seen in a South Bay restaurant. The person who is responsible for seating almost always is a rude person. This has happened three times now so no it is not a one-off. The first time our group was asked to stand and not offered a table even though we had reserved and majority (80%) of us showed up right on time. The second time, we went in and were curtly asked to stand outside in the cold while a table was being prepared. They took nearly 10 minutes to get the table ready. Again we had reserved the table. The third time we were trying to find parking, and the lady inside had chosen a nice table for us. While my wife told her that she would need to step outside to tell me to go park on the street, by the time she came back (like in 20 seconds) the lady gave the table away. Not only did she not acknowledge but she curtly replied that she thought my wife had left. I am unable to understand what their problem is while seating people.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5) Hinodeya in Campbell is a cozy and authentic Japanese-style spot. I really liked their fast service and the concept of ordering everything through their app — it makes the process super smooth. The sake flight was great! However, the food wasn’t as flavorful as I expected. The Takoyaki had too much batter and not enough octopus, and the texture was a bit too soft with mild flavor. I also ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen — based on the photo, I thought the broth would be thicker and spicier, but it was quite light and not very spicy at all. Service was friendly, prices were fair, but seating and parking are limited since the place mimics a small ramen shop like you’d find on Tokyo Ramen Street. If you’re coming with a group, I recommend carpooling and arriving early — it fills up quickly. Overall, a nice experience, but I’d give it 3 out of 5 stars.
$17 for a 1/4 full bowl of broth, taking into account all the spinach and other fillings. Broth was lukewarm. Half an egg. 2 oz of pork. Noodles were okay, some decent flavors overall. My main gripe was the portions. I was still hungry after, which is pretty hard to accomplish with soup. AC was ice cold. Not sure why they received high ratings 🤷🏽♂️
We ordered Hamaguri Ramen (clam ramen) and Spicy Miso Butter Corn Ramen. The spicy miso corn is ok (3.5/5) but the clam ramen is one of the weirdest ramen I have tried ( I rate it 1.5/5 or 2/5). I dont think the clams fit well with ramen. It costs $20 for each ramen dish and I dont think it is worth it. I would not recommend that dish to anyone. I was so disappointed! Vibe is ok with instrumental music. Line was not so long but the parking is quite small. I dont think I would come back.
Maybe it's right for someone, it was not right for me. It was, on the one hand, extremely expensive (two adults and a toddler was almost $200 out the door). On the other, the "Dashi ramen" just wasn't good. I love Ramen and have been an avid fan since decades before most Americans knew it was anything other than microwavable freeze dried cubes. I have traveled to Japan regularly for more than 25 years. I have eaten countless kinds of ramen over the years. The broth here was weak and slightly bitter. Almost every component of the ramen had some weird "original" flavor to it and, to such a degree, that it was barely ramen at all other than visually. They might be attempting to be cool or something, but the effect was to be a shining example of "if you can't do something well, do something different" (not a very common attitude in Japan, I might add!) If you've read this far though, let me call out one shining counterexample to this otherwise lackluster and unfulfilling experience. Our server, (maybe named Jasmine?) was absolutely the best. She was sharp, timely, friendly, patient with the toddler, and all around flawless. She, and whoever decided to hire her geta highest marks. I will not be returning to this restaurant but, if the staff in general is at this level, the restaurant deserves respect on that account. So, maybe you will like their strange pseudo-ramen. I did not, but if you have an evening to invest in the risk, who knows. (Oh, btw, I'd avoid the Karaage as well, kind of flavorless and soggy on the outside while a bit dry on the inside. It did not inspire the soul.)
Service is just ok. The food is really below average tbh. The ramen is not authentic at all, and the funny thing is I ordered level4 spicy (5 is highest), but it tastes not spicy at all🙃, basically you paid extra $1.5 for nothing. If you really look for a ‘ramen’ place, this one is not a choice for sure. I would rather just call it a ‘noodle’ restaurant.
Loved the Shishito peppers here and the Gyoza!!! What I didn't like was ordering through the phone... The whole Point of going to a restaurant is to have the entire waiter / food experience... So I ordered and than my friend ordered, so we had two different bills and than we wanted to order more food, but already paid and didn't want a third bill. This absolutely sucked!!! Please get real waiters versus phone ordering. I will not go again because of this. I actually liked the atmosphere... Very Japanese and the food was good but as I said - if I have to order through a phone and pay BEFORE I am even finished... No thx. Don't like this system at all 😔💔
Very average tasting food with slow service. We tried chicken karage ( 3/5) which was the only good food, spicy miso ramen ( 1/5) it tasted bitter and soft serve (2/5) they gave broken cone and ice cream was leaking all over and the vanilla and matcha flavors almost tasted same. Service is super slow even though it was Saturday afternoon with very less crowd. And we had to pay for order and give tip ahead of time ( tip is minimum 18% )
The food at this franchise is ok. So keeping the food taste apart the service was really really bad and worst I have never experienced. When we asked for creamy vegan ramen, we mentioned that we do not want the tofu and instead asked for substitute with sweet corn. Cause the sweet corn and other stuff costs you extra. So we just asked him to substitute instead of paying extra and he directly denied it saying we cannot do that and we can add the sweet corn extra and also remove anything else you want but cannot reduce the cost. The bowls were not clean, the drinking water was dirty had some particles in it and the main part is when we got our food, we asked for spicy mayo and they got us a cup of mayo filled that was used by the previous customer. It is not washed cup or new refill, it is the same cup that some customer used with the same mayo in it!! Imagine using someone else’s used dip. I was shocked and irritated on what kind of service they are doing there. How disgusting the service can be? I would definitely would report this to food inspector, you can understand how worst it was!! So I would not suggest anyone going to this campbell franchise unless they do some changes!!
Worst service. Lady at front desk make different rules for every guests. After getting table water was not served. You order by app. Worst experience, food was bland. Parking is worse here. Pls Save 100$ for a family of 4 for just one dish each
We were around the pruneyard area and decided to give this spot a try because of their excellent reviews. I had the hinodeya ramen and my fiance ordered the clam ramen. The hinodeya ramen was lacking flavor. It was pretty bland and boring. The clam ramen was alittle bit better but in my opnion is still pretty dull and needs more flavor. Overall i think the food is overyped. The service was terrible aswell. Server was not helpful and was not attentive.
The service was disappointing, with a server displaying a rude attitude and questioning us about changing seats without consulting them. The food quality was equally poor. I requested extra spinach for my clam ramen, but it was served uncooked, and the lukewarm soup wasn't hot enough to cook it, leaving me to eat raw spinach. The clams in the ramen were frozen and lacked freshness. Additionally, the potstickers were overcooked, emitting a noticeable burnt smell. Overall, it was the worst ramen experience I’ve had—definitely not recommended.
This was my first time here and it was such a disappointing experience. The parking lot was a disaster. We get inside and it looks nice, the staff was quick to seat us and it was convenient ordering from the website. The water had no ice and had terrible smell and taste, like toilet water. I ordered Ramune and somehow even that tasted bad, like stale, not sure how that's possible. We get our appetizer and while it looked appealing, it was bland and very heavy/greasy. At least the lemon provided saved the dish and cut through the grease and added much needed flavor... I got the tonkotsu ramen and the jammy eggs were cooked perfectly. So good! But unfortunately the entire dish was ruined by the tonkatsu. That was by far the worst tonkatsu I have ever had. I could already tell just by looking at it the breading wasn't made right. The texture was like dust and the only flavor was a strong burnt acrid one even though it did not look burnt. The "breading" slid right off the pork, was not binded to the meat properly again because it wasn't made right, and the pork itself was impressively tough and bland as well. $30 for the ramen dish... The ramen noodles were average, slightly chewier than I prefer, but edible. And toppings and broth flavor also average. If my review can spare one person from a $90 bill on mediocre food, then it was worth posting. Unfortunately good service can't save you from bad food.
