Street food in Mexico is amazing and there's no real need to go to a restaurant. But if you happen to be in Valladolid and need to rest your legs this is the place. Food was outstanding and the atmosphere relaxing.
Great food! Super great ambiance with natural flowers and nice furniture. It's even very romantic! The wait staff is also super nice, they even remembered one of my friends i was dining with who hadn't been there in years! The food is also quite yummy and very fast service. They also have giant menus that make it easy to see. Nothing bad to report honestly, only been there once though.
Great place with an interesting decoration, service is spetacular, waiters were very attentive to our need and did an awesome job. Food was awesome, we ended up getting a few different dishes and I believe it was the right amount, getting just one dish might live you a little hungry.
Had lunch at this beautiful restaurant today. We tried the grouper, soft shell crab and some sangria and other drinks and passion fruit mousse. Everything was really delectable. The presentation was lovely, the service was 5 stars and I love the music and the ambiance of the atmosphere.
If in the Cancun area, I would highly recommend this restaurant for several reasons. The customer service was impeccable; the waiters knew the menu inside out and made very customized and attention to detail recommendations. The quality of the food was unmatched as compared to similar restaurants in the area. The prices are reflective of the culinary experience you expect to have. I would definitely return here of ever I am in the area again and I wouldn't hesitate to suggest it to friends and family.
The most delicious, authentic local food. This restaurant has been around for a long time and is amazing. It is hidden but well worth going into and eating. Service and food is amazing! We have a friend who is a local that took us to this restaurant. Go here. You will not be disappointed. It is a must if you are in the area!
We came here for dinner and we had an amazing time. The waiters were extremely friendly and attentive and the food was truly special. We got the famous cocobichuela and the coconut shrimps and they were delicious. We were also offered drinking water for free, which is rare here in Cancun. The cherry on the top was the magician. If you are sitting in the garden, just make sure you use mosquito repellent. For us, this worked like a charm.
One of the best restaurants I have been to in Cancun. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Please try chicken mole, unless you don’t like bittersweet taste. Food was really good. I was disappointed by margarita as it was 7 out of 10. The setting of the restaurant is very exceptional either inside or their own garden. Lobster bisque had too much ginger and it tasted more like carrot ginger soup.
Hands-down the best ceviche I've ever tasted! The food is well prepared and well presented, and the restaurant is beautiful and ornate. The staff are all very friendly, and many are multilingual. Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior, La Habichuela is a high quality restaurant (I almost felt under dressed) with quite reasonable prices! I can't wait to go back.
For Cancun this was a 5 star place. The ambiance was so amazing and due to a language barrier the service was a little off but you should not worry about that. Get their signature green bean soup, skip the beef choices, and get the banana tableside flambe for dessert. Definitely will visit again.
Wow. Amazing service and INCREDIBLE food! We just booked a dinner for 4 based on the reviews and proximity onto our hotel, and arrived around 10pm. Minds blown! The gorgeous gardens and really impressive collection of ancient artifacts and Mayan artwork cover the walls in this quaint and sprawling space. The food!! Wow. We had all the recommended dishes and were blown away.. truly authentic and masterfully executed and presented with flair. And you can easily eat like a king here for under $20 Canadian!! Many dishes were in the $10-$15 Canadian range!! So please PLEASE do yourself a favour, and take an Uber down here to experience this place. It’s awesome!! I’ll definitely be back when I return to the area.
They have a magician who entertains you while you wait hence, the x on hand. Ordered beef ranch steak, beef frajitas, mango daiquiri and a mango mojito. The atmosphere is peaceful and comfortable. We didn't have any reservation but was tended just as well.
This was hands down the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had. The staff was so attentive and thoughtful, and very clearly love what they do. Every detail was carefully thought out and executed beautifully. The food was lovely, we got the catch of the day and chicken mole- both of which were cooked perfectly and balanced well. The drinks were great, the dessert paired with coffee was a delight, the bananas flambé was a great show and made right at the table. Pricing was very affordable for how decadent the experience was! What a magical oasis this place is, if we lived here we would go every week. Between the two of us for an appetizer, two entrees, three drinks, water, two cappuccinos, and dessert we spent around $80 US. The ambience was unmatched, surrounded by trees and greenery with stone carvings and low lovely light I could not recommend this place more highly!
I came here for some chicken Fajitas. Its a nice upscale restaurant. June 21 2023. -I first entered the lobby, a very nice lobby with fish tank and air conditioning and a small gift shop, and they have a greeters booth but there was no greeter. After waiting 2-3 min i went in the second door that lead to the bar and restaurant and was met by a server who seated me. -The menu was on a big display board that they brought to your table. I had already looked online and decided what i wanted. I took a picture of the menu. -I ordered the chicken Fajitas with a coca cola. It was very good, it came with soft tortia shells, chicken and vegies grilled, avocado paste, cooked beans paste, rice, spicy salsa mix. They are all seperate and its make your own fajitas. It was all very good, i unfortunatly forgot about the spicy salsa mix as it was on its own plate and missed it for most of my fagitas, but it was very good. I did not get a picture of the meal, it was so good looking i started eating and forgot the picture. -Also added was a Garlic bread loaf with butter (picture below). I was good too. -Service was very good, the main server/order taker spoke english and was very attentive and polite. And the younger bus boy that delivered the food was very fast and polite, and even when the wooden stand for the food was broken and wouldnt stand up, he kept the whole tray of food in the air as he and the other server looked for a replacement stand from outside (the outdoor courtyard seating). -The restaurant itself is very nice, fine dinning, clean. Indoor air conditioned seating or outdoor courtyard seating. My table had some interesting artwork facing me. Cost is more expensive then others, but its a fine dinning restaurant. I would return here for another meal.
Went here as per recommendation of a local colleague for my birthday. We were seated in the garden area, which is very cute in the evening with the string lights and Mayan decor. A very romantic place for dinner. Just to note: bring mosquito spray if sitting outside! Staff was professional and very courteous, and always attentive to our needs (group of 7 on a peak day). Food was very delicious, I had the Cocobichuela - which is a lobster dish in a carved our coconut. Very special dish and highly recommend! Definitely will try to make another visit next time I am in Cancun.
One of the first established restaurant in Cancun downtown. Super authentic and beautifully decorated. We made booking via WhatsApp. Took a couple of second and it was all organized and confirmed. Location is easy to find just minutes away from ADO Cancun. Menu can be downloaded online, but available in printed format at the restaurant. Starters are delicious and generous portion. Mains are well selected, mainly seafood, but plenty choice to meat eaters too. There's a separate section for authentic Mexican cuisine. Worth to try the mole! Desserts are simple but delicious. There's a magician in the staff who can entertain when he's available. Really talented gentleman, tricks are tasteful and enjoyable. Some tip afterwards recommended. In summary, lovely restaurant in the center with air-conditioned inside or open air outside sitting. Priced reasonably. All staff speaking English perfectly.
Great first night restaraunt for us in Cancun to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. Host and staff (lead by Hermando) were fantastic and gave good recommendations. Thank you to Elienne for a great show and we will return in the future.
We found this gem of a place whilst looking for food before our flight home. We were very early and recieved a fantastic meal and service. Would definitely be popping back when back in Mexico!
Went to La Habichuela restaurant on December 20, 2019 and it was awesome. The restaurant was 0.4 miles from the hotel (Gamma Cancún Centro) my boyfriend and I stayed, walking was less than 15 minutes. When we got there we were asked if we had a reservation, we did not but we were seated quickly and we were not disappointed. The restaurant has beautiful outdoor gardens and an unique and authentic ambiance of the Mayan culture. The menu varies from Mexican, Caribbean, and International dishes. Our dinner started with a bottle of Moscato white wine and some soft shell crabs, fried and served with avocado and tortilla for tocos as appetizer. I love soup so I had the lobster bisque. For Entrée, my boyfriend had the mixed of the sea that included fish fillet, giant shrimp, and grilled lobster tail served with some green rice. I had the grilled giant shrimp with garlic butter served with some green rice. For dessert I had the creme brûlée and my boyfriend had a chocolate pyramid stuffed with vanilla ice cream. *Please note that this is my description of the meals may differ from the actual menu 😊. Our waiter was fabulous and attentive. I’m sorry I cannot remember his name. We were treated with respect and dignity. Our meals were delicious and full-flavored. We both enjoyed our mouthwatering meals. The really kool thing about our experience was that our meals cost $162 US. I would highly recommend the La Habichuela and would definitely visit again.
Amazing place …. Shows off authentic Mexican cuisine done with a twist and also classic dishes done with fresh ingredients that are very flavourful. From the decor to the service and the food . Everything was an an excellent experience. Best restaurant Cancun . There was good music and they had a magician and a photographer that entertained . Good way to enjoy the atmosphere and support authentic experiences. Beautiful garden that shaded you and also beautiful indoor tables .
My husband and I just had the most romantic dinner here for New Years Eve. It was amazing! The staff were so excellent and treated us like royalty! It's outdoors, beautiful, and so very romantic. It is like something out of a movie!
Amazing!!! I can’t say enough to explain how wonderful my visit was. Our waiter, Alfredo, was so sweet and helpful, the rest of he staff was just as amazing and I can’t urge you enough to go! The food was fresh, and filling and the options were plentiful. You must go when I’m Cancun, absolutely worth it!!!
I had the vegetarian brocheta - it was fantastic! A mix of vegetables and fruit in a delicious sauce, served with rice and a spicy fruit mixture. We sat on the patio (even though it was probably too hot to be doing so). We were the only ones sitting outside and the servers were kind enough to bring a standing fan out for us. The patio was beautiful. I would highly recommend this restaurant because of the great service and tasty food.
What a beautiful place and amazing service! From the host to all of our waiters, everyone was so kind. The food tasted amazing, we got the Amaranth fish, guacamole, Mexican crepes, and passion fruit mouse and coconut parfait. They all tasted fresh and amazing! Parking was a bit hard, we had to park close to the parking area in Las Palapas.
Delicious. Amazing atmosphere and the staff was even better. We got the ceviche (the best I’ve had yet). Some of the best food in the city. Would definitely recommend making a stop here during your trip.
A must visit when in Cancun. They offer authentic Yucateca cuisine in a intimate magical setting. I went with my bestie on the 4th of January around 3 pm after shopping at Mercado 28. We stayed in the hotel zone and took a bus there and back. Don't be afraid to explore via a bus. I always believe that public transit will give you the best experiences. If you are directionally challenged, people here will always be of great help. Service was superb and I loved how everything was clean and in place. They have a beautiful courtyard garden that I'm sure looks gorgeous at night. We tried the Steak the Camaron and both were yummy. We almost had the entire place to ourselves at that hour, hence, the videos I was able to shoot. I cannot wait to come back and try other items on their menu. For impeccable service and high quality cuisine, come here.
Our server Ascencion is on an entire different level. He makes you feel at home and takes your dining experience above and beyond. He didn't let us over order which is amazing, and his Cesar salad is a must have! The cochinita pibil is another Mayan classic that is fantastic as well and I highly recommend the lime consume.I will always come back here and send all of my friends and family as well. AMAZING IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!!!
Great food, the bay scallops ceviche is too die for on a hot day (which is pretty much everyday here) prawns portion is massive and very tasty. Not the cheapest place but well worth it and good value considering the quality and quantity of the ingredients. Would recommend and will come back when i'm in town
We’ve been to this restaurant since the mid to late 90’s and again has not disappointed. My wife and I came to celebrate my 60th birthday and had a nice time and great dinner. Our server Muse was very attentive and friendly as was the host/maitre d’ (did not get his name) was fantastic and helpful, we never feel rushed when we come here, it’s quite and you can talk. They have an outdoor garden area or dine inside. The restaurant is downtown and away from the hotel zone(15-25 min)and tourists, taxi best way to get to and from. If you’re looking to get away from resort food we recommend. We come here as one of our favorite restaurants.
Our waiter Ascension was an exceptionally waiter who made our Caesar salad at the table. Our special anniversary dinner was perfect! A most wonderful evening!
Very nice dining area in the back yard. Great food, big portions and friendly people. Reasonable price for the quality and service.
Amazing experience if you’re in Cancun. Great service, unique menu that serves local and traditional specialties. Amazing flavors. Try the Mayan coffee!!
Great food. Really yummie. Good service and ambience. Recommend it strongly compared to all fried everywhere else.
Restaurant is truly a hidden gem away from the hustle and bustle of Cancun. Romantic setting, attentive service and food was excellent! Tasty and fresh seafood!
An off the beaten path gem restaurant with a romantic ambience, and delicious, authentic Mexican food. Super attentive waiters who want you to have the best gastronomic experience. You gotta eat here!
This is my first google review and hopefully that tells you how absolutely amazing my experience was at this Restraunt! Looking for romantic, courteous and attentive service, delicious food, affordable prices and perfect ambiance? This is the place to be in Cancún! I took my fiancé here for her birthday dinner and when I tell you fellas, THIS IS THE PLACE TO TAKE THAT SPECIAL LADY! She will love it and the staff will make sure to make you look like THE MAN. This was the best service we’ve ever received at a restaurant, including in the United States. There was a great mix of U.S American and Spanish Music, beautiful candle lights, and we were treated like royalty. They even made something for me that wasn’t on the menu. The outside of the place is a little deceiving but TRUST me, when you get inside, you’ll understand why this is a hidden gem!
Found this place on review sites as one of the longest standing restaurants. Good margaritas, very big portions for starters and good quality food, traditional French. Nice cozy and intimate setting. The only comment is that the English menu we had appears to have been missing some items that other table was eating - the pepper stuffed with sausage meat dish which we saw on review sites that we may have wanted to try. Perhaps it is worth to ensure all items are on the menu.
I really appreciated the effort they put into making great food here. The chef attends your table and is extremely friendly. However, I don't believe they make seafood to my taste. I still highly recommend this place but I wish they'd not over work lobster or shrimp. Expect them to be a little slow servicing tables.
If you are looking for traditional Mexican food don’t let the name fool you. It’s more an Italian restaurant with a Spanish flare. It looks like an old, authentic Italian restaurant (old). Outside it looks like a Spanish villa with some ancient statues and murals, it definitely needs some TLC. It’s a review so we give our opinion based on others experiences. The food is good but not great. The portions are just enough for you to eat and leave still feeling hungry even though you had appetizer, main and dessert. Chocolate cake a 3, Passion fruit mousse/tart 3, coconut cream good 4. Service its a 5, excellent!!!!!!! They are very attentive, amicable, knowledgeable. Don’t think that you are in Mexico and food it’s cheap. You pay as much you would pay if you would go to an US Italian restaurant. Prices are a bit to high for my opinion. The neighborhood is sketchy. We didn’t feel like walking around the Square/stores/food tents (but I still want to). Three people, 3 appetizers, 3 fajitas, 3 desserts, 1 beer, soda, lemonade $145 with 20% gratuity.
Heard many good things about it and wanted to give it a try. Service was ok. I ordered a Mexican traditional appetizer (based in the server said), and the chef’s recommendation of the day. Overall is ok but have to say it was disappointed. The appetizer was melted cheese on crepes; the fish, flavor was interesting, but it was burned on one side. And I thought it was the Mexican way of this dish. The waiter was surprised and told me he was going to ask the chef but no answer after. Maybe it was the wrong dish I ordered but not as good as thought it would be.
The food is fresh and the meats are very flavorful. At the time of my visit we were the only customers and hence the food took quite long to be prepared. Despite this the waiters were attentive and knew the menu very well and made sure that we were satisfied by our food.
A nice relaxing evening having a meal by myself. The decor is interesting, maybe a little overdone. What's really interesting are the stone pieces in the entry courtyard, and the wooden table with carvings. If possible, ask you sit outside in the back patio, it's beautiful. I had the Habichuela soup, which was excellent and by far the best thing I had all night. I followed it with the black grouper special, which was prepared very nicely, though certain bits of the fish had a very strong ocean smell. I ordered both the mango dessert and the creme brulee. The mango dessert was very mediocre and the creme brulee excellent. A waiter called Muse was extremely polite and friendly, the rest of the staff were very polite as well. I'm not sure if it's a cultural thing, but I was left alone for large parts of the evening with no food, or menu, and I'm not sure if it's because they have a much more relaxed pace to dining in Mexico or if they didn't see I was waiting for them. If definitely go back for the soup. Again and again.
Quality restaurant, nicely presented, air con inside, lovely atmospheric garden out. Quality locally sourced food, well presented and helpful, courteous staff. Three courses + drinks for 2 came to about £85.
Super nice hidden gem! The place is just wow! The garden and the lights make our dinner extra nice but i have to admit i had high expectations concerning the food and it was good but not "memorable" good. Still recommend this place, staff was lovely!
food is over priced and over praised. We ordered the recommended popular dish, none is meeting expectation. Seafood parade is over cooked. Cocobicheula is plain, just shrimp and coconut mix. Dessert is so sweet, our room service dessert is much better than it. The hot sauce is the only thing is ok.
Deep fried Worm with Guacamole is recommended the foods were good and the decoration in the restaurant and the service were really nice. They charged 15% of service tip and didn’t give the exchange. When we asked exchange, they brought lots of coins. so rude and disappointing. I regret I went there twice and paid lots of tips.
This restaurant has a lovely garden area, but the food and drinks were a disappointment. The offerings are very much home style with little attention to detail or quality cooking. The margarita was made with one of the cheapest tasting tequilas we had in the two weeks in the Yucatan. The ceviche contained cooked, rubbery seafood. The absence of raw fish though was probably for the best given suspect quality. Finally, the grilled catch of the day ended up being partially cooked, but also dry.
On my planet, 5 stars means exceptional cuisine, extraordinary value and superior service. Or at least two out of the the three. It is a five star restaurant if: - You are the brother-in-law of the owner - You have never eaten at another upscale Mexican restaurant - You thought it was a 10 point scale and 5 stars is average FOOD There’s no question the food is good. But it’s not special. We ordered guacamole which is prepared in the kitchen (and not at your table). It consisted of a mashed avocado in a corn shell with salsa on the side. We were disappointed that for $7.50 it was a small scoop. I was hoping to order enchiladas. But they are not on the menu. So I ordered chicken and beef fajitas. It’s prepared in the kitchen. Don’t expect flaming fajitas or sizzling fajitas on a skillet. There was enough to satisfy most appetites. It was tasty but indistinguishable from what you might get at a food court in an American mall. I prefer flour tortillas but they only offer corn. . My wife ordered the catch of the day. It was “fresh” from yesterday according to the waiter. Her usual terse comment was “The fish was good. But I wouldn’t come back here for it.” SERVICE No complaints about the service. The waiter took our drink order right away. We didn’t wait long for an appetizer and the entrée came a few minutes later. DÉCOR The interior décor is nice but forgettable. The much talked about garden is interesting but by no means extraordinary. It’s shaded but your probably wouldn’t want to eat there because of the heat and humidity. VALUE We spent $77 with tip for three drinks, bottled water, one appetizer, and two entrées. That’s for lunch. If you factor in a round trip taxi fare from the hotel zone, that’s another $40 -$50 round trip. Therefore, you might spend $120 for an OK lunch. It’s not an apples-to-apples comparison. But you could eat lunch at a local restaurant every day for a week for the cost of one lunch here. The local places have good food but they typically are not air conditioned and don’t take credit cards. In my opinion, it’s a 3 star which is a bit above average.
Surprised by the 4+ google rating. Had a dinner with friend here and come here because of the website promotion. Overall, the experience was fine but we are not satisfying with the “unexpected tipping Magic show” and when we paid the bill the server didn’t let me put the tip amount but simply asking “20% is fine?”. I understood people always wanted to charge more but this is not professional. During the dinner, no one filled up the water for us, but the server come twice and check how is everything going. Even at Manhattan this quality of service doesn’t deserve 20%, I would say 15% for all respect would be maximum. Food: Food is not extremely special and the “famous coconut” pretty much like the curry chicken in Thai restaurant I have been in North America. Appetizers are okay and the Grouper’s taste is too sweet. Drinks: A bottle of water on the bill charged us $90 peso, and it’s not sparking neither Evian, just like the $99 cents one in New York Walmart. We also had two lemonade. Price: Overall, this dinner cost us 2500 pesos, which is more than the fine dinning we had at Ritz Carlton last night, I am the person okay with the price, you can charge whatever you can, but just delivering the same quality of food and service. Environment: it’s nice to see the lights and decorations but there are many mosquitos around us.
After our visit we were very surprised about the high rating for this place. Except the lovely garden and welcoming restaurant owner(?), the experience was very „uncomfortably touristic“. We waited very long for the menu, even though it was not very crowded around 4pm. Menu was huge and impractical. We ordered Guacamole, Fish Fillet Amaranth and Chicken Fajitas. Food was not satisfying and totally overpriced. A waiter, who is apparently an entertainer as well, showed us magic tricks, even though we didn’t ask for them. After his show he placed an envelope with a comment to give tip. In a nutshell, price-value-ratio is bad and the experience felt uncomfortable.
