To begin with, the place is very cozy, with a fireplace and decor that make you feel warm and inviting. The staff are very friendly, always attentive to ensure that diners find everything to their liking. And the food is delicious, all homemade and prepared with great care. We had the set menu and everything was excellent, and very reasonably priced too. It's a great place to go whether you're hiking in the area or specifically looking for a meal.
A highly recommended spot in Lozoya, the service was outstanding. We were debating between different main courses, but we took their advice and ordered the suckling pig. We like it well-done, so that's how we ordered it, and that's exactly what they served us—SPECTAVABLE, a perfect 10! We also added some scallops and prawns, which were also excellent.
We ate here by chance on a busy Friday at lunchtime. A very friendly waitress served us quickly, and the food was quite good. The price was very reasonable. You can't ask for much more from a roadside restaurant. Congratulations to the owners, the waitress, and the chef. Great team!
The quality of the food was incredible for the price. Menú del día was €12.50, like... what? We took some red wine which was included in the menú. But we (2) were given a whole bottle! We both took the potaje to start (chickpeas and spinach in a flavourful broth). My wife had the fish (baked) which was a whole flat fish on the bone. She said it was delicious. I took the beef ragout. Also super. Fresh pinapple for desert. I added coffee and water to make the bill €29. The place was busy, nice and warm on a wet day with an open fire. We will go again definitely.
We were two diners and we were delighted. The 700g grilled octopus was incredibly tender, rich, and juicy. The meatballs with chocolate sauce were very original, and the grilled entrecote with its garnish was simply magnificent. The waitress who served us was a true professional. The table next to us ordered turbot, and the waitress cleaned the fish for them at the table. They told her it was very fresh and delicious. They invited us to a glass of cava, complimentary of the house. We loved the thoughtful touch. The chef and waiters were top-notch. We'll be back.
We went because of the good reviews. Without a doubt, it was a great choice. First of all, the staff was friendly and attentive. Everything was super clean and tidy. And of course, the food was 10/10. We had two set meals and some huevos ostiao for the kid, and everything was delicious. For starters, there were revolconas (fried potatoes), vegetable tempura, or stew soup. For main courses, we had stew, grilled ribs, or piquillo peppers with cod. The desserts were homemade, and the rice pudding was delicious. And they made us 10/10 cappuccinos. There were three of us; two of us ate the set menu (€11.50 with dessert or coffee), plus the kid's a la carte, and the whole thing was €45. A great meal and a great location. There's also plenty of parking and a terrace.
Amazing food and service
What a fantastic surprise. Forget the crowded restaurants of Lozoya with their lack of parking and head for this family run restaurant. Free on-site parking is available and they offer inside and outside dining. The restaurant is immaculately maintained. The service is fast, friendly and professional and the food is oh-so-well worth the effort. I recommend starting with the saquito de estás con huevo coral and cod salad with orange vinaigrette. This is the first restaurant in 13 years of living in Madrid that has managed to cook my steak to my specifications. Outstanding, and with a true 'straight off the BBQ' taste. I'll definitely be back.
Ok
Two people ate. The food was delicious, including both the octopus and the lamb, and the desserts were scrumptious. The waiter, Aitor, was attentive and pleasant. The dining room without air conditioning was a horror, a tremendous mistake. And the flies took away the peace of mind while eating. We'd only return if we knew for sure they'd upgraded the air conditioning... otherwise, it's impossible. Eating, swatting flies, and dripping sweat down your back is not recommended.
We weren't very hungry. We were two people. We ordered migas, wild boar meatballs with dark chocolate sauce and a tomato and pepper salad with tuna. The migas were very dry, even if you chopped up the fried egg on top. They were sprinkled with paprika, so they felt even drier. The meatballs were average, but I wouldn't order them again. The pepper, tomato, and tuna salad was salad-like, but very, very salty. We decided to leave without dessert or coffee, since the food wasn't very good. There were people eating lamb and suckling pig, which I suppose is hard to believe. But the experience wasn't one I'd repeat. Despite being an expensive place, the tables are very close together, and the service is average.
Fuimos para comer y nos pusimos fuera con la perrita. Los judiones riquísimos al igual que las croquetas, el pulpo estaba buenísimo, tierno y sabroso, el rape no tanto. Lo peor que tardaron en servir…
Hook?!?! It should be called Harpoon!!! What a rip-off they got us! There were 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 young children. The price was over €115 for 1 starter, 3 main courses, 4 drinks, 1 dessert, and 2 ice creams. Almost €30 per person (bear in mind that 2 of them were children under 7). The portions were small, with average finishes and a lot of potato filling. The meats were small and everything was cooked quickly to get it out as quickly as possible. Each food item needs its cooking time; getting it out sooner doesn't mean better service. Plenty of grilling, but not enough hands to do it. The waiter was overly insistent that we order what no one else orders to get him out of the way. The desserts were also high-priced, with a children's ice cream that was a scoop of vanilla ice cream for €6.50. They provide the bread and charge €1 a piece. *Also, during service, the waiter spilled a drink on us, soaking my wife, and the solution was to bring us extra napkins to dry ourselves. No apology or anything, thank goodness he refilled the drink. If you like eating a little and paying a lot for it, this is the place for you.
We went for lunch on December 30th, and although I understand it's a busy time of year, the experience was very disappointing. There were only three employees (two waiters and a cook) to serve more than 20 tables. The result was extremely slow service: we waited almost an hour and a half without being served. As for the food, the situation didn't improve. I ordered a €57 ribeye steak, cooked medium-rare, and it was served completely raw. I mentioned it to the waitress—who was very friendly and professional—and they took it away to cook it a little longer. Exactly three minutes later, it returned to the table… and it was still just as raw. Honestly, ridiculous. To top it all off, the potatoes that came with the steak were frozen. Do you really spend almost €60 on a dish and get served potato chips? I was incredulous. The wine wasn't up to par either: we ordered a Ribera del Duero and it was frankly awful, almost like vinegar. I'm giving it one star only because of the waitress, a very polite young woman who did her best despite the situation, and because at least they have Estrella Galicia on tap, which is always appreciated. This review is clearly directed at the owner and management of the establishment, not the employees, who were overwhelmed and doing the best they could. I won't be back, not even if they invite me. -------------------------------------------------------------- Your response is not only deplorable, it's the best summary of why the experience at your establishment was a disaster. Yes, we had a reservation at 3:30 PM. The fact that you didn't know this demonstrates the level of control you have over your own business. And talking about a "closed kitchen" while people were still coming in and being served is, at the very least, a joke. At most, an outright lie. Denying that the potatoes were frozen is almost endearing. Not because it's convincing, but because it's so childish. It only takes two functioning brain cells to tell homemade chips from bagged ones. But I understand that, in their restaurant, that's already considered gourmet. As for the wine, saying it's "okay" and then adding that they have others "out of our price range" is a gem. It perfectly sums up their concept: charge like a serious restaurant and serve like a mediocre one, but with added arrogance. Instead of appreciating customers pointing out the flaws, they prefer to attack, lie, and act superior. Rest assured, we won't be back. With an experience like this, it's surprising that anyone returns. This review is for those who really matter: future customers, so they know where they're spending their money.
We had a reservation for 3:30 PM and arrived even earlier, at 3:11 PM. Despite this, they made us wait almost two hours to be seated. All this after they had given our first table to another family. The food was poorly presented, the wine was bad, and the service was agonizingly slow. To top it all off, the owner was incredibly arrogant in his Google reviews, displaying a completely inappropriate attitude and zero self-awareness. A lack of respect for the customer and an experience I will never repeat.
We came to this place a few years ago when we went fishing and had fond memories. After this experience, we won't be returning. We sat down at the table at 2:45 pm after having booked for six people. We all wanted to order Castilian soup and lamb chops, but when they took our order, they told us they were out. We rearranged our order and looked at the menu again. Two of us ordered suckling pig, and they didn't have that either, but they offered us a leg of lamb that was left. For the rest of us, we ordered some fried pork belly to start with, followed by meatballs, monkfish, asparagus, fabada (Asturian bean stew), migas (fried breadcrumbs), and oxtail stew. The ordeal began. It took them 35 minutes to bring our first course, so we were left with nothing but bread on the table. They brought all the starters directly and then told us they were out of lamb chops, so we swapped it for a €55 T-bone steak, since there wasn't much else available on the menu. The breadcrumbs were dry and undercooked, the croquettes were very basic, and the asparagus was passable, though slightly undercooked. After waiting another 20 minutes for our main courses, we were served meatballs that were hardly meatballs at all—dry (they remained whole despite costing €16), monkfish with a slightly stale smell, and oxtail that resembled a rather bland pâté. The rare ribeye steak arrived, which looked spectacular but was cold. We asked them to reheat it, and they brought it back completely overcooked. When we politely explained that this wasn't what we had ordered, they told us the kitchen was already closed (it was 4:15 pm and there were tables that hadn't even started yet), so they wouldn't let us order anything else, and a couple went without food. In short, we were overwhelmed with the menu, communication between the kitchen and the waiters was terrible, and the customer service was appalling after the head chef's childish behavior. He came out, but didn't even apologize; he just said, "That's how it is." The food didn't live up to the price or the quality of the place, and there was no apparent effort to please the customers.
A group of six of us came, eager for a good meal after a weekend in the area. I haven't had such a bad meal in ages; communication with the kitchen and the waitstaff was terrible. Half the menu items were unavailable. The oxtail was a lump, the meatballs inedible, the migas were the worst I've ever had, and if you order the monkfish, be careful because the one we ordered smelled awful. We couldn't finish a single dish because it was so bad. The last straw was when we ordered lamb and it arrived cold. We asked them to heat it up, and when it finally arrived, it was way overcooked. We immediately asked to change the dish, and coincidentally, the kitchen was closed. A waiter even admitted it was the chef throwing a tantrum and not wanting to cook any more for us. We asked to see the head chef, and he came out with a cocky attitude. At no point were we offered any solutions whatsoever. Everything was deplorable from beginning to end. Not a single dish was decent. I neither recommend it nor will I ever return.
We went with high hopes, but the experience was truly shameful. From the start, the service was terrible: we were cold, and despite asking several times, they refused to turn on the heater right next to us "out of laziness," in their own words. When we ordered our food, five minutes later we were informed that half the dishes on the menu were unavailable: no lamb chops, no suckling pig, no Castilian soup, no lamb, no suckling pig. In a restaurant serving Castilian cuisine and grilled food, this is simply unacceptable. The fried pork belly, which we had ordered as an appetizer, arrived with the first courses. And the main courses were even worse: a cold ribeye steak, monkfish with a bad smell, inedible meatballs, and an oxtail stew that was a real slab of meat. We asked them to heat up the ribeye steak, and they sent it back overcooked. When we asked them to change it, they told us the kitchen was already closed, when it was obvious they didn't want to. A horrible experience, with rude waiters and service that leaves much to be desired. We won't be back, and we wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
