What an absolutely fantastic experience me and my wife had. It was our first year anniversary and Gaucho Cardiff made our evening. The food was absolutely outstanding from starter to dessert. Honestly the best stake I have ever had it was like eating through butter. What really made our evening was Tessa our waitress. Only one week fully trained and it seemed like she had worked there for years. Her knowledge on the food and drinks was absolutely outstanding she was so knowledgeable and friendly and really attentive to me and my wife. Thank you so much

Visited Gaucho for the 2nd time. Arrived slightly early but was able to be seated straight away. Dom was our server and he was brilliant, friendly and polite and gave us recommendations. Service was speedy from drinks to food. We were booked for 5.30 on a Friday and the restaurant seemed calm but did get a lot busier towards the end of our meal. Had full 3 courses and all food we could not fault. Starters were amazing and came so quick. Would say there’s not really any chicken option starter which some people look for. Mains we had a sharing chateaubriand and it was cooked to perfection, so tender. Finally desserts, opted for pancakes and chocolate brownie, again both dessert were delicious. Overall extremely happy with our meal, service and ambiance of restaurant. Had gift vouchers to use and even the issue with the one voucher was sorted no problem. Would definitely visit again, this is a restaurant I consider visiting for a special occasion as it can work out expensive but you 100% get what you pay for with quality of food and service. The only thing I ask is to bring back the cookie dough dessert! Would book my next visit sooner if that could return.

My favourite restaurant in Cardiff, I highly recommend that you eat at least once in the finest steak restaurant in Cardiff, the staff were amazing, nothing too much trouble for them, they went above & beyond to make my wife's birthday very special for her so my thanks to you all for this. We will definitely be going back there soon in the very near future.

Visited Gaucho Cardiff for a birthday meal and was not disappointed. We had the Gaucho Sampler to share and each steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Really relaxed atmosphere and staff were very attentive. Can comfortably say it’s the best steak I’ve had and will definitely return. The staff even went the extra mile with a dessert!

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time, our server Dom was so lovely and really knowledgeable about the food and drinks, very impressed! ( if you ever need a job we are at themoodycowbarry 😜)you are so lucky to have such amazing staff! Will definitely be heading there again, we had the warmest welcome, despite my partner being covered in tattoos and me wearing crocs! We really appreciated that there was no judgment made. The food is not cheap but the quality was fantastic and I’m happy to pay for top quality food. We requested off menu cocktails and they were happy to oblige which we really appreciated and I know would have taken the bar staff a minute to look up, which in the service industry is a bit of a pain! I am not easy to please but I have absolutely nothing negative to say, thank you for making our very rare evening off so lovely ❤️

This definitely lived up to the hype! We went on a Sunday so I had the Sunday roast. It was delicious, and the portion size was so generous! I paid extra (£6) for the cauliflower cheese which was really tasty.

Came for our anniversary and had a lovely meal. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful from the moment we booked the table to the time we left. Juan, our waiter, made us feel very welcome and was very helpful. Nice atmosphere and wonderful food. The happy anniversary desert was a nice touch. A great night - thank you.

Attended this spot yesterday. Very ascetically pleasing venue. Service was amazing! Food was next level. Steak was fabulous. Prawn cocktail was amazing I like the subtle spice to it. Zombie with Hawaiian shirt cocktail was soo refreshing. It’s definitely worth a trip and I will return

A great evening. Juan our host was brilliant, lots of charisma and the level of service was just right. The wine was delicious and lots of different price options available. The steaks were amazing and we love the fact the price included the fries and sauce. The atmosphere is dark and warm but the lighting above the table meant you can still see the food and menu. Perfect evening.

Me and my boyfriend came here to celebrate his birthday tonight and could not have had a more enjoyable evening if we tried. We skipped starters and went straight for the gaucho platter. When I say this was cooked exactly to our tastes, I mean it was perfection. We ordered 2 extra sauces halfway through and these were at the table within about 2 minutes of asking. We both had the chocolate brownie for dessert and my partners came out with a candle and a birthday message written in chocolate, such a nice touch and this was done completely off the servers own back and not at my request. The food was second to none but what will stay with me the most is the service. Georgia was so accommodating throughout the entire evening and we couldn’t have asked for better. She was amazing and really made our evening. I’ve read reviews about the service being slow and can categorically confirm this was not the case with us tonight, and bear in mind the restaurant looked fully booked as there weren’t any empty tables around. This was also our first evening out together after having our baby and Georgia made our experience thoroughly enjoyable and it will absolutely be a birthday to remember. Thank you so much and please ensure this feedback reaches the lovely lady that served us. She was fantastic. Thank you for a great evening, we can’t wait to come back again.

I had a great dining experience at this restaurant. Although they are known for their meat dishes and offer an excellent selection of steaks, I decided to try the burger—and it did not disappoint. The beef was moist and perfectly prepared, making it truly delightful. I also tried the soups, which were quite nice as well. Beyond the food, the restaurant has a pleasant ambiance with music playing in the background, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The menu is varied, offering plenty of choices for different tastes. Overall, it’s a place I’d happily recommend.

We had a lovely afternoon at Gaucho, being looked after by Alisha and the lovely people here! We opted for the set menu, which for 2 courses was a very reasonable £17.95 and it tasted amazing. Like for like for another favourite of ours Pasture, and we will definitely be coming back here again for the full menu! Many thanks to the team for the delicious food and great service ❤️ 📸: @all_the_scran_things on Instagram

I was a bit skeptical in booking because of the bad reviews buy I'm glad we went. The set menu was good value for money and only spent way less than what we did in their london tower bridge branch. The food was good, especially the prawn chicharron. All the meals came freshly cooked. And they put an effort in giving me an extra birthday dessert for free even though I already had dessert. Haha thank you! And also I love that they still have the festive design!! Thank you

I visited this place in the heart of Cardiff, and I have to say—the service was absolutely exceptional. Zac, the staff member who served us, truly deserves a pay rise! His service was nothing short of five-star. He even arranged a surprise anniversary cake for us, which made the evening extra special. The food was superb. I tried the spicy scallops—an absolute must-try, even for those who don’t typically enjoy seafood. The sirloin was perfectly cooked—tender with a slight crispness on the outside, giving it a wonderful texture and flavour. The setting is classic and elegant, making it an ideal spot for date nights, special occasions, or classy gatherings with friends and family. Highly recommended!

Superb filet steak, good atmosphere a thumbs up 👍from me, I didn't book so had cocktails waiting for a table 20 mins this didn't spoil anything for me I was gifted a voucher for the bubbly so a bonus I will go back.

I recently had my first meal here and was blown away! We sat outside soaking up the sun, but the inside looked gorgeous too. I had the Sunday lunch and it was honestly the best meat I've ever tasted, with perfect portion sizes. The staff were super friendly, making sure we were enjoying everything and even recommending dessert. I can't recommend this place enough and I'll definitely be back!

We’d been waiting to come here for a special occasion as it’s a bit expensive, so we booked for our anniversary… worth every penny! From start to finish the staff couldn’t have done more, complimentary champagne to celebrate our anniversary, 2 cocktails for free (subscribed to the mailing list before). The attention to detail our server Amelia provided whilst going through the steak options was wonderful and she was so friendly and bubbly all evening, regardless of the fact it was very busy! The team even brought over a card and a complementary dessert, so thoughtful and made our whole visit! Steak was delicious and it came with two tasty sides and sauces. We got the sharer. Great cocktails, food and staff. Thank you Gaucho!

Gaucho's amazing cuisine and service have made our anniversary date wonderful. The sides, sauces, and steak are all better than expected. Additionally, the service is immaculate. The cheesecake was delicious; the cake and cheese blend together to create a smooth, creamy texture without layers. Every bite felt like bliss. Will deffo visit again. Special thanks to Juan (sorry if I spell it wrong) and all the other staff for being very welcoming to us from the start to the end. Thanks for creating memories for us.

My wife and I visited this expansive, atmospheric restaurant in early May before a concert. So am early-ish start, but still bustling and on-point service. The waiter was very fluent with the menu and options and had a really accommodating manner about him, to be fair. The fish and steak options we chose were well presented, very nicely cooked and sumptuously tasty. With a nice red (which the waiter let me sample a few of my shortlisted options) it was just perfect. It's on the expensive side (especially the meager starter), but you get what you pay for these days.

From the moment we walked in, the experience was nothing short of fantastic. I opted for the fillets steak, which was cooked to perfection. The ingredients were fresh, and the dish was seasoned expertly, making every bite a true pleasure. Shiva, our waiter, was exceptional from start to finish. He greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel immediately at ease. His knowledge of the menu was impressive, and he offered insightful recommendations that enhanced our dining experience. Throughout the meal, Shiva was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that our glasses were always filled and that we had everything we needed. What truly set Shiva apart was his genuine enthusiasm and passion for his work. He took the time to engage with us, sharing interesting details about the dishes and the restaurant’s philosophy. The food was exceptional, the atmosphere was delightful, and the service provided by Shiva was truly outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

Yesterday was our first year wedding anniversary and we booked Gaucho. The atmosphere was amazing the staff greeted us straight away with such a warm welcome, once seated the staff thoroughly went through the steaks which which was amazing as we haven't been to many steak restraunts. The food arrived and tasted AMAZING it was so flavoursome and steaks cooked to perfection 👌 The staff were very engaging in conversation and couldn't have done more. Towards the end of our meal we was presented two complimentary glasses of proseco and presented a anniversary card signed from all the staff from gaucho which was such a kind and lovely thing. We cannot recommend Gaucho enough and will be coming back again, Thank you to all the staff at Gaucho for making our 1st year anniversary meals so memorable 😊

I had a lovely lunch here on Monday to celebrate my partner's birthday, and I have to say, the service was spot on. Our server made the day special by bringing out a dessert with a candle and a sweet message, which really touched us. The food and drinks were top-notch, and the atmosphere was just perfect. Everything felt clean and well looked after, and the team was friendly and attentive throughout. Can't recommend this place enough for a memorable occasion!

We had a fantastic experience at Gaucho Cardiff yesterday. A special mention goes to Lauren, the manager, who provided truly outstanding service. She went above and beyond to make our evening special, taking the time to guide us through the menu and help us with our indecision. Her recommendation for the wine pairing with our steak was spot on and really elevated the whole meal. Thank you, Lauren, for your professionalism, knowledge and genuine care it made the experience memorable. We’ll definitely be back.

Located in the heart of St David’s on The Hayes, Gaucho Cardiff is a masterclass in "dark glamour." While this Argentinian powerhouse is world-famous for its carbon-neutral steaks, I visited specifically to see if their plant-based offering could hold its own in such a meat-centric environment. The Vibe The design is a clever nod to both Buenos Aires and Cardiff’s industrial heritage—think black steel, copper accents, and low, atmospheric lighting. It’s sophisticated and high-energy (the Sunday sessions even feature live soul and R&B), making it feel like a proper "night out" rather than just a quick dinner. The Vegan Experience It’s rare to find a steakhouse that treats vegan diners as an afterthought, but Gaucho has clearly put effort into their plant-based menu. This isn't just a basic salad; it’s a thoughtful collection of vibrant, Latin-inspired dishes. • To Start: The Beetroot Tartare is a visual and textural triumph. Served with a mango "yolk," avocado, and coconut yoghurt dressing, it’s refreshing and surprisingly complex. • The Main: I opted for the Baked Aubergine. It was perfectly charred and served with aji amarillo and a bright parsley salad. It managed to be hearty without feeling heavy, though if you're looking for something more "meaty," the mushroom-based options often found on their seasonal rotations are excellent. • The Sweet Finish: The Chocolate Brownie with white chocolate ice cream is a standout. It’s rich, fudgy, and successfully bridges the gap between "good for a vegan dessert" and just "good dessert." The Verdict Gaucho Cardiff proves that you don't have to be a carnivore to enjoy a high-end steakhouse experience. Whether you're the lone vegan in a group of steak-lovers or just looking for a stylish spot with great cocktails, the inclusivity of the menu ensures no one leaves disappointed.

We visited for my husband’s birthday dinner on our first trip to Wales, and it turned out to be a really lovely experience overall. The service was friendly, attentive, and very accommodating from the moment we arrived. My husband prefers to keep things low-key for his birthday, so the simple but thoughtful touch of a candle in the dulce de leche dessert was perfect and very much appreciated. The food itself tasted lovely. We both had steak, and while the outside was slightly on the salty side, the rest of the meal was very enjoyable and well prepared. The drinks were also nicely flavoured and refreshing. The only small downside was that a couple of the drinks came with very large blocks of ice, which took up more space than the drink itself. A minor detail, but noticeable. Overall, though, it was a wonderful dining experience with warm service and great food, and we would happily return.

Great service and atmosphere. The main event, the steak, was a bit disappointing, however. Having a deep knowledge of South American cuisine, and with this being such a high-end restaurant, we expected premium cuts butchered in-house and cooked to perfection. Instead, we received supermarket-standard cuts that were simply cooked well. To be honest, I cook a better steak at home. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what we expect from a steakhouse. The chimichurri is amazing, though, as are the fries—which were some of the best we have ever had. To top it off, they also add a 12.5% gratuity to the bill.

Dined here for me & partner's anniversary and we had an amazing time. Zac our server was very attentive and professional. We were well looked after. He was always happy to help when we needed something. Our steaks were cooked to our preference and side dishes were also lovely. We got given a glass of champagne alongside our dessert for our anniversary which was very thoughtful.

Had a lovely meal here—food was top-notch and the service was spot on. The team really knew their stuff and made sure we were happy throughout our visit. Overall, a great experience, if a little pricey. Only gripe is that we felt a bit misled with the question "and which sauces would you like" implying their inclusion and not added extras. We were already paying almost £40 for one 200g sirloin, so that felt a little misleading and we're surprised to see them on the bill. The sauces need to be a little larger in size too. Overall, a great experience, if a little pricey at £147 for two people.

Visited Gaucho for lunch and overall, it was a pleasant experience. We started off with prawns in a sweet and spicy sauce, served with a side salad. The flavours were well-balanced, making it a lovely starter. For mains, we ordered rump steak with chips. The steak was well-seasoned and cooked nicely, and the chips were crispy and tasty. However, both the steak and the chips came in rather small portions — would’ve liked a bit more for a main. We finished with two desserts: the Chocolate Brownie and the Dulce de Leche Pancake. The brownie was alright, sweet but not particularly special. The pancake, on the other hand, was excellent. Drizzled in caramel sauce and paired with banana-flavoured ice cream, it was rich, well put together, and tasted delightful. It was easily the highlight of the meal. Gaucho offers a tasty lunch, but the portion sizes for mains felt too small to be satisfying. That said, I’d absolutely return just for the Dulce de Leche pancake.

A

Lovely restaurant addition to Cardiff city centre. I tried their lunch 2 course set-menu, the rump steak with chimichuri was lovely, and their pancakes with Banana ice cream was a great end to the meal. The decor is really nice, a great place for a date or meal with friends.

Came in expecting the Premier League of steakhouses because the outrageous price expects it but left feeling like I’d just watched Stoke on a cold rainy night. Let’s break it down: • The steak – looked incredible, but felt like it was kept warm by rubbing two sticks together. • The chips – the kind of bland that makes hospital food look and taste nice. • Veg sides – straight from the Iceland frozen aisle, possibly still thawing. Very small portion too especially for the price. • Prawn cocktail – the prawns had that unmistakable icy tang, like they’d just come back from a near-death experience in the freezer. Three stars, and that’s being generous because the cow died for this.

My girlfriend booked this restaurant for my birthday in high hopes that it lived up to my expectations of fine dining. After arriving prior to the time of my booking we had to stand at the bar for a further 10/15 minutes until the table was free. After being seated we ordered some starters and drinks. The starters arrived and unfortunately no side plates were supplied so we had to keep shuffling the plates around. Along with this our drinks did not reach our table for another 20 minutes only because we had to re ask for them. The drinks ordered were a Diet Coke and a glass of wine; I would understand if it was two cocktails. Following a few visits from staff to our table either to clear our plates or serve our food, our empty glasses were not taken away. The food itself was good but I didn't understand why the steak was served on the same plate it was rested on as this just left a pool of juice sloshing around the plate, seeing as the price tags was near £80 for this cut of beef it was underwhelming. We had to also ask for fresh cutlery for our main dishes. it's a shame the service wasn't very polished.

Such a pretty restaurant with great interior. It’s a pity it didn’t live up to expectations. We dined in on valentines evening. For an 8pm booking we were made seated only at 8:25. We were then told we could only have the table for only an hour when I had booked months in advance and payed a £40 deposit. Felt like they cared more about how much money they could turn over rather than customer experience. The food was very average. The sea bass was hardly seasoned and very plain. Burger was okay but very dry and plain, expected more for the price tags (maybe a home made sauce or caramelised onions). The empanada starters were very well made and we both enjoyed those the most. I’m hoping this was only because it was valentines evening and both kitchen and floor felt very rushed.

Our first visit to Gaucho in Cardiff was overall a decent experience, though it had its ups and downs. We were greeted with a warm welcome upon arrival, but the check-in process felt somewhat excessive, resembling a night club atmosphere rather than a restaurant. That said, the restaurant itself featured a stylish and contemporary setting. One issue we encountered was the lighting at our table, which was initially quite harsh. Fortunately, a small adjustment to the table's position made it more comfortable. Service began on a positive note, with our server being friendly and helpful, but as the evening went on and the restaurant got busier, the attention to our table declined. The food was enjoyable. We were served some warm crisps to start, though these weren’t particularly to our taste. Following that, we enjoyed our steaks, chips, vegetables, and sauces, all of which were nicely prepared and flavourful. The apple crumble for dessert was also a highlight, being really delicious and a lovely way to end the meal. However, the speed of drink service was noticeably slow, which was surprising given that our meal was at 5:30pm. This could certainly be an area for improvement. While there were aspects of the meal and ambiance that we appreciated, Gaucho wouldn’t be at the top of our list for future visits to Cardiff. It’s a stylish venue with good food, but improvements in service and atmosphere could make the experience much more enjoyable.

Decor and atmosphere was lovely. That was about it. We normally got to Pastures as our ‘go to’ steak restaurant. However, people have recommended this so thought we would give it a try. Wish we hadn’t. We had the 700g chateaubriand steak. A quality cut of meat, it wasn’t great. A lot of it was chewy, grissly and not enjoyable. Even less enjoyable with being charged £115 for it. The sides were ok, albeit very limited choice. Overall certainly was nowhere near worth the money. Limited menu for a premium restaurant, it was really nothing special. Bill was £258 for 4 of us, for that I expect a higher quality meal. Really disappointing Won’t be retuning and will be most definitely be spending our money as pastures instead

we came to this restaurant for my 21st birthday, upon entering it was a lovely welcome and fast sit down, and was given a lovely card off staff for birthday. food was nice and good portion but if you want your steak cooked a certain way ask for the next one up, i asked for well done and came bloody, and i’d recommend asking for burger to be cooked well done as burger was pink. atmosphere is lovely but music is a bit too loud, and an automatic service charge is applied on the bill which was 12.5%! i don’t think the service was worth that type of tip so was a shock! overall, wouldn’t dine here again and don’t think i’d recommend to family and friends.

Myself and my boyfriend spontaneously visited Goucho in Cardiff as it was our first time in the city. My boyfriend had previously visited Goucho in Edinburgh in 2022 and he highly recommended it, so we thought we would give it a try. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were enticed by the decorations outside and the interior decor and our immediate service by our server ( I think her name was Theresa) was very good, she was attentive and knowledgeable. For starters, we ordered some snacks to share ( the cheese and truffle croquettes, pan de bono and the wagyu empanada) the pan de bono was incredibly dry, consisted of a choux pastry shell, lightly dappled with smoked cheese along the inside border. The taste of the cheese was very faint, if present at all, essentially like biting into a cheesy stale profiterole. The croquettes were nice but let’s say that the highlight of the snacks was the wagyu empanada; a lovely crunchy, pastry shell with a decent wagyu filling which had a really nice flavour to it. Now onto the mains, after anticipating a lovely Latin American themed steak dinner, as a restaurant that specialises in the preparation and execution of different cuts of meat and especially for the price they are asking for, we were let down. Charging £38.50 for a mediocre-marinated steak and then unsuccessfully (whether attempted or not) rendering the fat cap on my sirloin, thereby serving me pure gristle that was inedible. For an ultra premium steak restaurant you could at least have got the cooking temperatures correct. I ordered a medium sirloin as I am personally not a fan of a ‘bleeding’ steak and my boyfriend who makes a living off steak had ordered his to be medium-rare, also noted that his steak cook was inconsistent. However much cliché and dishonest this may sound, we were very hungry after a long day of travelling so we did eat our steaks with the middle-budget wholesale fries and just poor sauces that came along with the dinner. We are not ones to usually complain as we are both deeply rooted in the hospitality industry ourselves. After bringing these issues up with our lovely waitress, a what seemed-to-be-a-manager came over and passive-aggressively questioned my boyfriend who is a senior chef at a very highly rated restaurant about whether or not he knew that a sirloin had a fat cap on it. This manager then proceeded to express her apologies as everyone usually does, but nothing was done about this. We then decided to not have a dessert at Goucho just due to sheer disappointment. Not much else to say really… you’re an Argentinian steak restaurant. Do better.

When a restaurant claims to serve the best steaks in the world, you have certain expectations. And none of them were met. Starter we had the Wagyu empanada and what a joke, it was ONE empanada. Mains we had the rump steak and chicken Milanese. Dont know where to start. Steak was tough and flavorless. The chips were FROZEN (confirmed by the server). The mash was good tho. The chicken was possibly the worse thing all night. No flavor, not even salt. Tasted worse than the chicken steaks I can get at Tesco. Came with a rocket salad that didn’t even have any rocket leaves. Got it with the bearnaise sauce which was horrid. Do not recommend. If you’re looking for good steak, go somewhere else.

L
Lakshmy Pengelly

This is possibly an isolated opinion, but I thought this restaurant was very over rated and I was actually shocked how expensive it was compared to what you receive. Each starter is £14-£18 and whilst they are nice. They aren’t exceptional and small in portion size. £16 for a prawn cocktail. I’ve had better. The main meals are ridiculously expensive, ranging from £30 to £80 per dish, this doesn’t come with sides, these are extra. I had the chicken Milanese which is quite basic anyway, I had to order extra chips, there was a small salad garnish with it. I had to get tomato ketchup and mayo as it was so dry. I honestly felt like it would be something you could get in a cheap cafe, except I paid over £30 for the privilege. I have paid more for restaurants in my life, but they have always been of exceptional quality. This was basic food for an eye watering price. It wasn’t for me.

P
Paul Duggan

Starters were nice and okay we had the soup. Prawn cocktail, sourdough bread. Mains is where it went wrong, ordered a 400g fillet medium - what arrived was deffo 400g but looked rare if anything - sent this back and they brought out a 300g fillet that looked like chicken it was that well done 😂 didn’t send it back as everyone else had finished their meals pretty much by now. Another streak was ordered medium well as the lady was pregnant - arrived again medium/ rare - when they re cooked this one it was okay Manager did apologise and removed costs of the super well done steak - offered us free desserts and a round of drinks for the table It’s alittle disappointing it was my first time here but my partner likes it as she’s been with friends before. Personally for the price and cost I see competitors such as el purto and miller and carter far better if the food standard we revived last night is normal However the waitress was lovey she was helpful and gave the right amount of balance. They all wished my partner happy birthday witch was nice

Q
Quietly Critical

I visited Gaucho Cardiff with fairly high expectations, but overall the experience was disappointing rather than memorable. Service was noticeably slow throughout the evening, which set the tone early on. The prawn cocktail was the biggest letdown. At £16, it felt hard to justify. The dish consisted mostly of around twenty very small, clearly frozen shrimps and just one actual large prawn. For the price point and the brand, this felt closer to a £5 starter than a premium offering. The steak itself was also underwhelming. It arrived dry and lacked the richness and tenderness you would expect from a restaurant that positions itself as a steak specialist. It was not bad enough to send back, but nowhere near good enough to stand out. In contrast, The Ivy Cardiff has delivered a far more consistent experience in the same city, both in terms of food quality and overall atmosphere. Gaucho Cardiff was not a terrible meal, but for the prices charged, it did not live up to expectations. There are better dining options locally that offer stronger value and a more polished experience.

Came on a Saturday evening (21/06) and was seated upstairs which was very quiet but nice. I had the tuna tartar to start which disappointingly was absolutely swimming in sauce, you could barely see or taste the tuna it was so smothered. My partner had the scallops which were delicious. The ribeye steak and chips were nice, the mac n cheese wasn't anything outstanding. Our desserts were nice but not worth the price. About 3/4hrs after our food I was sick with food poisoning, considering I hadn't eaten the whole day before this meal I know it was from here. Not only was I ill but for such an expensive dinner it was extremely underwhelming. We won't be coming back here again!

L
Laura

Overpriced and underwhelmed I had high expectations for Gaucho due to the hype around this chain, but the entire experience was underwhelming and extremely overpriced on all fronts. Despite the restaurant not being busy for a Saturday night, the service was extremely slow from start to finish. It took a staggering 1.5 hours just for a few small starters to arrive for our table. The food quality was equally disappointing. The Gaucho pie arrived warm on the outside but cold in the middle, and the mash was overly salty. While the steaks appeared to be decent quality, they lacked flavouring. The desert menu wasn't great and the chocolate brownie was dry. The beverage selection was another major issue. There was a poor selection of lagers with nothing on tap, and the wine list was frustratingly limited for single orders and wildly overpriced. The non-alcoholic offering was also lacking for this to be a premium location. On this note, the restaurant are not upfront with the charge on the water so it was a shock to see it charged at £5.50 a bottle! Because the staff were so inattentive, we weren't even offered a second round of drinks when our mains finally arrived and staff didn't check in on the meal. Although it was nice to have a spacious table for our booking for 8 the table glasses were water-stained and covered in dust, and the dining area was drafty and smelled of cigarettes. For a premium-priced steakhouse in the city centre, this just didn't hit the mark in terms of atmosphere, service, quality, food and drinks.

Where do I even begin with this diabolical so called restaurant? Was taken here as a surprise by my partner to celebrate our engagement and I have never ever felt so disappointed and hungry leaving a restaurant. From the outside the restaurant looks lovely, it was really busy when we entered and was told to take a seat at the bar (with many others) as our table wasn’t ready - no worries. Finally seated and ordered one sourdough starter to share - it was lovely. Everything was off to a great start, we were excited for our mains/sides. The mains came out with just a steak on the plate by itself .. chips in a pot separate and the sauce (tiny little pot of sauce may I add) we thought the presentation looked awful but none the less, eager to try the food. I had the 300g rump and my partner had the 300g sirloin and we shared garlic mushrooms and Mac and cheese. We eat steak quite often and this was by far the worst tasting steak I’ve ever had. I asked for my rump to be medium rare.. it was the most rare I have ever had steak (see attached pic!!!!!) Even my partner questioned if I was going to eat it as he was shocked how rare it was (he has his rare and mine was more rare than his actual rare!) Tried getting a member of staffs attention to see if the steak can be cooked for longer, failed. So my partner ate half of my steak (which was cold may I add) just because I didn’t want it to go to waste. Apart from the sourdough bread and the chips, it was the most bland, cold tasting food we have ever ate. We were in absolute disbelief and questioned if we had attended the wrong restaurant. We asked for the bill 50 minutes in and to our disgust, noticed a service charge of £12.50 and a charge for table water at a staggering £5.50!! How on Earth can you charge for table water when it was quite literally FREE. And the £12.50 service charge.. for what? I wasn’t happy with this and spoke with the waitress and explained how shocked and underwhelmed we were and questioned why I was charged for water and a service fee when we felt as though the service we received was very minimal and average. I was told to wait by the bar and she will get a manger to speak to us. 10 minutes later, no manager appeared so I enquired with the waitress how much longer he would be, to which I was informed they were dealing with someone else and would be with us straight away. We then waited a further 18 minutes before deciding to leave as at this point, we felt robbed and insulted at even paying this restaurant a single penny of our hard earned money. This place needs closing down, how it was busy I will NEVER know. We literally had to have toast when we got home as we were starving and frankly, we have had tastier McDonald’s. If you want a decent steak, save your money and go to Miller & Carter. If you want to spent £20 more (our bill was £123) then go to Pasture, you will not find a better steak than that place! I am so angry by my experience tonight and will NEVER return. I have ensured my family members have cancelled their reservation for January and I will ensure everyone I speak to, is warned NOT to waste their money in this dump. I would like a manager to contact me within 5 working days, otherwise this will be escalated. SHAME ON YOU.

Usually go to pasture which I rate very highly... All seemed good , service, atmosphere, they brought out all the steaks to show us. This is where it went downhill... We ordered the shared special ribeye spiral, very tough, lots of sinu, the fat of a ribeye normally 'melts' well it was terrible... Roasted mushrooms were very basic and I could of cooked better. ' chips very average' Even when they brought out another standard ribeye as they could see how much sinu and how tough our food was we had the same problem. Very poor quality meet, gutted as it was my fiancé's birthday. Will not be going again.. Pastures far far better in every aspect.

Extortionate prices for very little and underwhelming food. My salmon dish was over £25 for a piece of salmon no thicker than my thumb and some crushed olives. Had to order a side for a complete meal, sauteed spinach was covered in a spicy chilli flavour not mentioned and I suffer burning mouth syndrome which didn't help. The whole meal was extremely salty. My daughter and partner ordered bread cheese balls which arrived as 2 rock hard balls each which were so hard could barely cut them open to reveal fresh air and a few millimetres of cheesy stuff. Just paying for fresh air, the ultimate of daylight robbery I feel. Steaks for other 3 were OK, nothing worth the extortionate price again and my partner paid over £60 for a steak which had quite a bit of fat and gristle. The cocktails again totally filled with the biggest block of ice possible in order to give the minimal of alcohol for your extortionate prices again. Service was fine, decor lovely yet I didn't aim to spend 300 pounds of being served politely. The only redeeming feature is the dog friendly policy which is rather unexpected of a restaurant of this type. To be perfectly honest I would not recommend anyone try this place once and waste their hard earned cash.

I have made a réservation for 6 people with an app (the fork). I had several mails telling us that the réservation is approved. Unfortunately, when i came at the restaurant they told us that they do not have a réservation for us. I showed the mails but they did not want to know anything. They did not Offer us a drink or help us to find another restaurant. This is the first Time that it happen to me. The food seems to be good but we could not taste it. This is really frustating.
