What a great find! We just found this restaurant and the food was soooo good! I’d call it some of the best Thai in the Coachella valley! I’m sad to hear that they are closing down and they said the owner is looking for a new place. We had the Chicken Larb, Tom Kha soup, and the Thai egg omelette…it was all soo good! I loved it!

If you like Thai food, you don’t want to miss this place when in Palm Springs. Food was amazing, even when it’s takeout. Service was extremely good. Really enjoyed it!

Talay is by far our favorite restaurant! We come here a couple times a month and the food along with the service is always great. I highly recommend trying it out if you haven't already. Update: We have been coming here for years now and it is still our favorite. They recently added a new dessert and drink menu.

Really great customer service! Food was spot on and I loved the tofu eggplant and mango sticky rice (sampler size). Will be returning very soon!

This is the best Thai food in the desert by far! We love the food and the people the run the restaurant. They are so kind! Highly recommend!!!

Everyone was incredibly nice and lovely, the food was absolutely delicious, I tried the green curry and pad thai and loved both. The prices were higher (~$20/dish) but they're on El Paseo so I'm not surprised. I loved them at their old location and continue to love them at their new location. They didn't have their dessert menu ready yet since they just reopened at this location (used to be in RM), but I'm excited to try next time I visit! Would recommend to anyone ✨

Amazing pad kra pao and big enough to share one dish for two people. Spice level 2 was plenty hot and adding a fried egg was worth it.

Seriously fantastic, authentic Thai food! Service was amazing. The Pork dumplings were super tasty. The Drunken Noodles and the Crying Tiger were the favorites at the table. Good atmosphere, great people.

We ordered takeout from Talay Thai while in Palm Desert. Staff was extremely friendly and our order was quickly prepared. I had the panang curry and my husband had Pad Prik King with chicken. Both were fantastic!

Amazing service by professional and so friendly Team The food is excellent always fresh and tasty and lots of flavors They always asked you if you want with spices or no spices at all. We tried many restaurant Thai in this area .. this one is far away the very Best. The prices is very affordable for the high quality of the food They have some wines by the glass … excellent wines from California. Do not miss the dessert … Always parking to park your car. A GEM ❤️

Drove off the I-10 for a family lunch - Talay was worth it. The mango curry was excellent. Everything else was good. Service was immediate and unobtrusive. Parking was easy and free. Paid $35/person with fancy drinks.

I’m picky about the quality of Thai or Chinese food and the quality of food at Talay Thai is out of this world. All of the ingredients are high quality and delicious. Amazing. I would definitely go out of my way to eat here.

Talay Thai is absolutely the best Thai restaurant in Palm Springs/Palm Desert Valley. The food is incredibly superior to any other Thai restaurant in the area, making the dining experience at other Thai restaurants taste like they are serving frozen food. I will also mention that Talay Thai is the cleanest Thai restaurant in the Valley. This should not be an issue, but it is with most of the other Thai restaurants appearing as if they haven't done a cleaning in months. I love Thai food and am so glad to have found Taley Thai because long ago I gave up on all the other Thai restaurants in the Valley, everyone mediocre of a tourist trap.

I love the atmostphere here. The staff is really nice and helpful. All the dishes are delicious. The only problem is it is crowed at noon and needs someone else to help the only female staff. ❤

This is one of my new favorite Thai restaurants. We ate here during lunch, so there was not many people there, but our server was fabulous. He was really attentive to our needs, and really explained the different menu items. I had the green chicken curry, which is my standard at a new Thai place, and it did not disappoint. My friends also had some other General Thai dishes, and they were also very tasty. We would recommend this Thai place to anyone in the area.

The Thai food we had yesterday was absolutely amazing! Every dish was full of rich, authentic flavors, perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and incredibly delicious. On top of that, the owner was so friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. You can really feel the love and passion in both the food and the atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back! 🥰

So Glad Talay Thai is in Palm Desert! I used to love visiting Talay Thai at their old Rancho Mirage location, and I’m thrilled they’ve relocated to Palm Desert! Their food remains as delicious as ever, with fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and perfectly balanced Thai spices. Whether it’s their rich curries, flavorful noodles, or crispy spring rolls, every dish is made with care. On top of that, their customer service is always excellent—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. It’s great to see this amazing restaurant thriving in a new location. Highly recommend to anyone craving authentic Thai cuisine!

Authentic Thai cuisine with five star service. Aroydee! Elegantly presented dishes worthy of Michelin rating. Unexpected find for the Desert. The Haw Mok Talay is a must try if you enjoy seafood. This specialty takes 25 minutes so order ahead. Appetizers are taste worthy also. Soju and Thai beer complements each dish. Finish with Mango Sticky Rice in special Butterfly Pea sauce.

So I’ve tried every Thai restaurant in The Coachella Valley and THIS is the spot! The flavor of the trio sauce for the Pad Sam Rod is unmatched. The panang curry and the pad Thai are amazing. For anyone who likes real flavor and a clean restaurant with kind staff this is for you. If you really like spicy then ask for a 4 and above, a 2-3 is also enjoyable but not too spicy.

My wife and I love Thai and just found out favorite spot in the valley. The spice level was just right at spice level 2 (and we love spice). It was still super flavorful as well. Green curry with chicken, pad thai with tofu, Khao Pad, Kanom Jeep, and egg roles were all fantastic!

Talay Thai remains the most authentic and consistently excellent Thai restaurant I’ve found in the Coachella Valley. After trying numerous Thai restaurants throughout Palm Springs, Cathedral City, and Palm Desert, this is the only one that truly delivers traditional flavors. The restaurant is Thai-owned and staffed, which shows in the quality and authenticity of the dishes. The food is vibrant, spicy, and exceptionally flavorful—clearly crafted with experience and passion. I return often and recommend it highly to anyone seeking real Thai cuisine.

We ordered delivery for a family of six. The food was good. The green curry with chicken was everyone's favourite. The Pad Thai with shrimp was a bit sweet (not sure if that is a California thing), and I would have ordered it spicier. The Pineapple Rice was also quite popular. Don't forget to order extra jasmine rice! Ordering was easy on DoorDash and dasher was very polite, being able to navigate into our resort.

A bit pricey for Thai food, but good food. Stated out with the Tom Kha Soup; it was ok. It needed maybe lemongrass, bamboo shoots, or something to add some flavor. The chicken in it was ok. The baby carrots were a little strange for this soup. My main dish was the Pad Thai (with chicken). Now this dish was very delicious. The chicken in this dish was tender and had plenty of flavor from the sauce. The noodles were cooked perfectly and I loved the fresh bean sprouts, carrots and crushed peanuts. I had their Thai Iced-Tea with my meal and it didn't disappoint. It was rich and creamy while not being too sweet. The service was pretty good as well. The atmosphere was ok; a little plain but clean.

This is a little hole in the wall style Thai place. We came here for a late lunch and the restaurant was basically empty. We grabbed some soju cocktails - the Bangkok Lover and the Thai Arnold Palmer. They were pretty expensive and had pre mixed cocktail mix in them. I probably would have gone for an Asian beer instead because they had a good variety. My partner did not enjoy the Arnold Palmer and did not finish it. There weren’t many staff around so our server also made the drinks and the service was pretty slow. For appetizers we started with the Thai dumplings which were pretty good. We then had the Pad Se-Ew and the Talay special seafood dish. The Pad Se-Ew was authentic and delicious. The Talay special seafood dish however was quite underwhelming and was poorly presented (stew in tin-foil). It was packed with seafood however the sauce was not very tasty and it was $30. The portions were very large so an appetizer and two entrees was more than enough for the two of us. We did not have room for dessert. Overall I would not recommend this place. Hole in the wall Thai food should be authentic, tasty and fairly cheap and this, for the most part, did not check those boxes.

I want to start by saying that everyone was so nice! The service was great! My only complaint with the service is I felt very rushed to order. We were greeted by at least three different people wanting to know if we were ready to order. Almost one after the other. I had only been there once to order take out and was trying to remember what I had ordered. We just needed some time to look at the menu but we were hounded to order. We just decided on the pad Thai. It was not good unfortunately. It was different than any pad Thai we’ve ever had and regretted our choice. We did appreciate the friendliness of the staff. They smiled and were very friendly. I just wish it didn’t feel so rushed.

The food was good to medium, but service was terrible, not just because they were busy which is excusable, the waiter forgot several items, did not apologize, and in fact, was rude to the point of saying we did not need it, We had ordered $200 of food. We like to order extra, try new things, and take items home for lunch. lucked out and got the only male waiter who had no problem showing his temper. If you go, choose a female waitress all of whom seems very pleasant.

Beware: they serve you tap water & charge you a great deal for it. $7.50 for two tap waters. Food is good. Practices are shady.

B

This cannot be the same Talay that we loved that was in Rancho Mirage for years. Small portions, inferior Pad Thai, crappy spring rolls ( we get better spring rolls at Wal Mart). When we first discovered the original Talay, dishes were $12-13 now are $18-20 each. Dinner for two with tip $70! For Thai food?! This is why we only dine out when friends visit now. Restaurants have priced themselves out of reach for many of us. No more.

"Pineapple" Fried Rice without Pineapple - I ordered this but it came without Pineapple, then I spoke to the wait staffs so they took it back and then added that, but seems like they took everything on the plate, even the tomatoes on the side (as seen in the picture), as well as the two shrimp tails (which i ate already) and fried it together, so it was mixed in it. I did not take the picture of the "new" one. (it didn't look and taste particularly good anyways.)

So disappointed, I was really craving the tom yum soup it's the best soup to have when you're sick and I usually get it from the basil but they were closed. It was so salty and had no flavor my boyfriend got the peanut chicken and it was super watery and mostly just green beans my daughter got shrimp fried rice, the shrimp were tiny the rice was over salted with tons of onions....do not recommend.

We came here because of good reviews. We arrived at around 8 , they close at 9. Everyone seemed agitated, they told us last food was at 8:30 which is understandable and we ordered ahead of that time. Food was okay compared to other Thai place at valley. We ordered shrimp appetizer, mango curry, drinks and pad es saw with shrimp and chicken. Portion size were not great for the price but that was not the issue. Horrible customer service . We asked for the drinks, and ordered one for my kid after tasting first one we realized our little one would not like it and if it could be canceled. We wanted to cancel before it was made and we made request within 30 seconds with the server whoever was close by. The guy server was so rude , he basically said figure out with your server . We didn’t argue. By the time our server came in table , drink was prepared . We didnot say anything. Whole time both servers were rolling eyes and were agitated. we were so confused I felt sick to my stomach eating there. Never ever I have not finished my food from my plate. I could not after how we were treated. We wanted the dessert cause it looked good in the menu but we decided it’s gonna make us more sick. When we were leaving they didnot even say goodnight. We tried food all over the valley and go back to our favorite. never again in this place that’s what I told my self. Since its location was in Rancho mirage I was expecting better customer service than this. The employer needs to train these people if he wants to keep running business efficiently, his workers are costing him.

We arrived at 8:15 P.M. The server notified us and let us know the kitchen closes at 8:30 to 8:35 in a nice tone. At first, i was enjoying the atmosphere with the family. But, there came a point where i ordered the Apple soda and asked my little one to taste it. Within 30 seconds of placing that soda drink order i asked one of the workers there to please cancel the drink for my son. He yelled and was abrupt and super rude and pointed at me and me to go get our server myself. I was in shock. He then went onto communicate something to her and both our server and the guy were extremely rude the rest of the night. When our food was brought out he yelled at me and told me to move my plates from the table so he can place everything correctly. It was ridiculous... I have NEVER EVER LEFT A NEGATIVE REVIEW. This is the FIRST NEGATIVE REVIEW I leave with one star. Worse experience ever me and my family did not enjoy our meal at all. I regret coming to this place.

I ordered to go and after arriving to pick up I sat and waited an additional 15 minutes only to have the staff realize it had been sitting on the counter dying the entire time. Restaurant is basically empty mind you. Then they don't have even the most basic condiments needed for Thai food. Get home and it’s the worst Tom Yum soup I’ve ever had. Literally just spicy water no flavor at all. 30 mins and over $30 for 2 cups of awful soup. Disappointing food and terrible customer service.

The smell of cologne was heavy all over the bags and the packaging. I asked if they package or door dash packages. Employee says they do. I thought it might have been the driver but each container in the sealed bag also reeked of bad cologne. I called to let them know and the said they were sorry and too busy to remedy the situation. I will not be ordering there anymore. This is the third time in a row this has happened. Anyone else ? Food was better when it was Blue Orchid. Too bad. Nasty.

Direct slap in the face to a long-term repeat customer. Over the past number of years, I've eaten at Talay Thai probably 30 times between their Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert locations. I have introduced many friends to their restaurant. I have ordered through GrubHub dozens of times. Tonight, I mistakenly forgot to ask them to keep egg out of my fried rice. When I told them I made a mistake, cannot eat egg, and asked if they could remake my dish, after checking with the kitchen, the restaurant flatly refused. No offer to remake a dish at a discounted price, no negotiations, just a flat no and double the cost ($40) if I wanted to eat fried rice with no meat and vegetables. This was such a short-sided decision. They have forever lost a repeat customer who has spent a thousand or more dollars at the establishment. At the same time, they have gained an eager spokesperson who will eagerly tell everyone exactly how they treat their long-term repeat customers. RIP Talay Thai!!

Easily one of the worst service experiences I’ve had. We kept on standing at the entrance, waited to be seated but we were completely ignored for an unreasonable amount of time. No greeting, no order taken, no explanation—just staff walking past us like we weren’t there. If you don’t have the capacity to serve customers, don’t seat them. Very disappointing, and definitely not worth a return visit. And if there was an option I would give it a negative rating.
