The steak was delicious, juicy and tender, the Brussel salad chickpeas was interesting but I wouldn't try it again. The tuna tostada looks good and my friend said it was, there black bean burger was interesting but not my favorite, the meatballs were delicious, tender, juicy, and delicious great recipe from the chiefs family. I liked the chared broccoli but would loved it pre cut as it was awkward to cut with a butter knife. The drinks are strong and good 💯 I loved the espresso martini 💖 🙏 and the lemon cheesecake was delicious. Beautiful Dinner, live band and servers are amazing!

We didn't know Hotel Paseo existed until we parked in front of Larkspur Grill. Instead of heading towards our target restaurant, we checked out the Larkspur Grill. They have an interesting menu with vegan friendly, gluten free, and dairy free items clearly marked. I was very tempted to try the Jackfruit Tacos, but was a bit worried about the chipotle crema. The Larkspur Grill bowl interested me and it was marked as dairy free, so I forgot to ensure that the grana padano was the non-dairy version. My main aim was to make sure that garlic was not part of the ingredients. The server said something that was music to my ears and made me want to come back, he said: "just tell us what you like and what you want to eat and we will make sure that it will work for you". I took that to mean that they have real chefs on-site! We ended up with Buttermilk Pancakes, and Larkspur Grill Bowl. When the food arrived though, I could smell the grana padano and it was definitely cows milk based. They apologized for the mistake on the menu and offered to make me another one. Since it was not an allergy but a diet restriction, I decided to pick through my salad instead – why waste food? While we were there, we saw other interesting bowls being served, but there weren't that many bowl options on the menu. We came back for another two meals. I tried that Plant Based Breakfast Bowl featuring plant-based eggs+cheese. The eggs+cheese on top of the bowl was amazing, I had to ask the server again just to make sure no real eggs were involved as I found out that eggs cause my eczema to flair up. But I thought that the stuff at the bottom like the tofu, and sweet potatoes was a bit too spicy for me. Since the 'eggs' were already plant based, there was too much tofu content in this bowl. When we came back a third time, I wanted to have the eggs+cheese on top of a Mixed Green Salad, but the server suggested scrambled vegan eggs which is not what I really wanted. We also ordered Steal Cut Oatmeal and that was exceptional. Well, if this restaurant was local to us, we'd mostly likely be eating there every weekend. The hotel interior was very modern and artistic, very nice.

We were very impressed by the service and food at Larkspur Grill. The food quality and quantity exceeded our expectations and our server, Lady, was wonderful with great recommendations and concentrated on making our night great. We sat outside and had fantastic views of the mountains. Would definitely come back to try more of the food on the menu.

Celebrated a friend’s birthday! It was amazing once our food order came out correctly. Music was amazing, love the band and dancing!! Atmosphere was perfect!

I had a lovely birthday celebration dinner here and you have got to try their cheesecake (+2 stars)! I normally only take a few bites, but I ended up finishing the whole thing! There were live music. A bit too loud for my liking, because I had to lean in to hear my friend when he spoke. The cod (+2 stars) had a delicious savory white sauce that complemented well with asparagus, green beans, mushrooms, mashed potato. The service was excellent (+1 star) and I would return again to try other delicious items on their menu!

We were looking for a fun place to have happy hour, and Larkspur came up in our search. We popped in for their happy hour food and drinks specials. We tried their parmasan black pepper truffle fries, maple bacon brussel sprouts, the ahi tuna tartare, and paseo fish tacos. Everything was delicious and well prepared. Our bartender was so fun, engaging, and on top of things. Great service. We'll be back.

My husband and I had a fun time at the Larkspur Grill the other night where they had amazing live music presented by the popular Brad Mercer Band, playing all our favorite hits including a medley of Beatles songs, which was outstanding! The food was delicious, the service very attentive and the overall experience was wonderful! We have been there several times already and will be back again!

Inside Paseo Hotel. This is an amazing live music venue with a great stage and dance floor. Dancing later in the night! The Nest of El Paseo 😍 Great food and cocktails. Happy hour 3-5p too. Patio seating too if you prefer with view of live music stage. Wander through Paseo hotel while you’re here! Amazing art and cool air stream by the pool. Classic car in the lobby!

I recently took my fiancée here for her Bachelorette party for brunch. They were extremely attentive, and very kind. The restaurants was near empty so the waiters devoted their attention to us. They offered to take our pictures, allowed us to take our pick of seating and even surprised us free cake as a congratulations for our party. I can't remember our waitress' name but it started with a Y. she did an incredible job and the entire staff should be commended.

Terrific! Weekend Brunch is a treat with a wide variety of wonderfully prepared menu items. Miranda is always at the front desk to greet you with a smile, warmth and genuine hospitality! Servers are great as well. Johanna took the time to be sure our pup had water - despite being busy and short-staffed. She too was friendly and professional. The room is open and spacious, though we love the relaxing feel of the patio. Larkspur Grill is a gem!

This place was GREAT! The service was excellent. It wasn’t very busy and sometimes that can go either way. But our service was great. From the time we called ahead to see how long wait would be, to when we walked in, to being seated etc the service was great! The food was delicious. We had the club sandwich which was delicious, great thick bacon, delicious bread and yummy avocado. The waffle was sooo good. The sliders were alright. The French toast was also great. Nice thick bread. They had yummy thick fries and good ranch. We got our food quickly and will definitely be back to eat here. The restaurant was beautiful inside and had really comfortable seating. There was plenty of room for all of us and it didn’t feel like they tried to cram as many tables as possible inside the place. The lay out was great. I loved everything about this place!

I came here with my family for Happy Hour last week and everything from the food to service was incredible. You can't beat the prices for happy hour and the food was very good. Do yourself a favor and see if you can say hi to Charlie! He is the director and helped us out. I will be sure to send any friends and family here as I know they will have a great experience.

Beautiful property, food was excellent but the star of the show id the customer service. I took my family in for brunch and we were warmly greeted immediately upon entry. The staff was friendly with a cheerful demeanor. We were seated immediately, the waitress was patient and answered all our questions concerning the menu. The food arrived hot with condiments and our drinks never ran empty.

Great decor with bar, indoor and patio seating. Great food with ok service. Seems like our waitress is the only one working and she had a lot of grounds to cover, so we didn’t see her much. Food was tasty and a bit on the pricy side, but to be expected in a hotel restaurant.

The Larkspur gets 5 stars for the entertainment! Wednesday nights The Rat Pack Duo featuring Slim Man and Chase Huna amazing and fun. The food, just average. I ordered a grilled artichoke, it was inedible. I thought it would be steamed then grilled, wrong. The burger was very dry and was like eating a hockey puck. The salad saved the day.

Made reservations for brunch, easy process and was seated immediately. Resturant is nice with both indoor/outdoor seating. Menu has various brunch options and prices are what you'd expect at a Palm Desert hotel off El Paseo. Food was hot and orders were correct. My only real complaint is the service. Waiter Julian seemed almost irritated that he was waiting on us. His tone and swemingly unwillingness to want to assist made my group lean to not wanting to come back to this establishment. Worth the visit if you're in the area as long as you get a different server or catch him on a better day.

The most notable aspect of Larkspur Grill is its convenient location. Staying at Hotel Paseo, right next to the iconic El Paseo Shopping District, made it incredibly easy to access. Another highlight was our server. He was attentive, engaging, and genuinely seemed to care about connecting with our group, which added a personal touch to the experience. As for the food, it was visually appealing but fell short in flavor. While the menu offers a wide variety to accommodate different tastes, the dishes we tried—the mushroom steak and salmon—were underwhelming. They lacked the "wow" factor that would make you excited to share a bite with someone else. The live music was a mixed bag. On one hand, the nostalgic video backdrop featuring classic actors and musicians added charm. On the other hand, the volume was overpowering. Even though we were seated in a far corner, we had to raise our voices throughout dinner, which detracted from the overall experience. Would I return? Probably not by choice. With so many other dining options nearby, I’d prefer exploring other restaurants in the area.

This place is for a much older crowd. It felt more like a cafeteria to me and the young hostess was so busy having a lengthy discussion with an older gentleman who worked there that she neglected to even acknowledge us. That is a HUGE “no bueno” to this girl. Even if you are busy you always acknowledge your customer. All it takes is “I’ll be right with you!” When I finally did get her attention by saying “excuse me,” she had the audacity to say she would be right back. Well, she didn’t come right back which gave us the perfect escape!!!! We left and would definitely never go back. Sorry, until this hostess learns restaurant etiquette, we will not be back. And even then I think I will not be back. Just saying

Checked into hotel and decided to have dinner at Larkspur Grill. Server was very personable and attentive and the ambiance outdoors was great but the food was awful. Had Caesar salad ( not crisp lettuce served in a bowl, bland) and French onion soup (OK, but overly thick broth). Wife had chicken sandwich which was heavily breaded and over cooked. We decided to have desert since we didn’t finish our other items. Spiced apple crisp was like chunky apple sauce with no crumbles or crisp whatsoever. Disappointing and will not be returning during our five night stay. Too many other restaurants within walking distance.

I actually like the atmosphere here. It's lively and has an upbeat feel, especially when a live band is playing. Unfortunately to be honest, the food is mediocre and you must have patience waiting for your order to arrive. The service is ok. To be totally honest again, there are many other eateries in this area that surpass this establishment from Asain food, Italian, seafood, Steakhouse, Mexican etc...

Very slow kitchen. One waits and waits between dishes being served. Waiter staff is good. My prime rib was barely warm by the time it arrived at my table. Food quality was OK but not what one expected for the price.

So we decided to try this for date night. We set reservations for 5:30pm so we could get good seats. We had a piller/pole in the middle of the room that interfered, but we worked around that. Julian was our waiter, nice but aggressive. We ordered Evian bottled water. I had not opened mine yet and was waiting until I was ready. He picked it up without asking me, opened it and poured it into a glass. I did not want that. Please ask me first before grabbing items off our table. Then we felt like we were being rushed, taking plates while we were still eating and relaxing. Band started 12 minutes late, but was good. Liked the saxophone and the singer, Reggie, had a great voice. It would have been nice if they had started on time and if he had sing more than 1 song. We had to leave to go to another event and were saddened to have missed those 12 minutes. Then after 9 minutes the singer (Norris Miller) took a break??? I don't think Larkspur is getting what they pay for. No one wants to work anymore. It's sad. They should have had their equipment set up and ready to go at 6pm, then sing. I came to hear you and all I got was an intermission and set up noises. Then the saxophone player said that the singer needed a break 11 minutes into shift??? So we got more intermission??? The singer was messing with his tablet on stage. The singer only sang one song in 40minutes. Intoxicated?? Drugs?? We left after that. The saxophone player worked his butt off. I hope he got most the money from tonight. The menu could have better options. We saw a couple look at the menu and leave. The flatbed was good, but what a little meat?? Pepperoni or sausage. A little more variety never hurt anyone. Then they were out of items in the menu. The waitor sluffed it off saying they didn't get shipments?? No Modelo. There were 3 desserts missing off the menu and told "not available." That's not good business. This was my date night and it did not impress me. We left and did not order dessert. Then the waiter chased us out the door to see why we didn't leave a good tip. My husband leaves good tips when it's deserved. He has left up to a $200 tip. So if you didn't get one, look at yourself, but do be chase us out the door.

We went for a late breakfast, and left one and a half hours later. The service was absolutely horrible. Very late to offer us drinks, and never came around and refilled cups of coffee once until we asked. Food took forever, and was just good but average at best. Took just as long to pay and had to carry the card to the front eventually to get it done. No attempt to explain or apologize for the lack of service.

Fun place on a Saturday. AMAZING BAND!! Grammy winning piano player!’ BUT Portions are small. Green beans were great but for $10 there were not enough. The Cast Iron Garlic Bread is AWFUL!! It’s a dinner roll mix from the grocery store! Absolutely terrible. What a disappointment!!!

I've probably dined here at least a dozen times. Nice atmosphere, decent food, and good drinks. It's usually a small group of friends on a Sunday. We are locals at least during season...so it's nice to have regular dining spots. However, not sure if the management changed over the past few months, but I suggest alternative restaurants on El Paseo for groups. I know most restaurants don't love getting multiple credit cards to pay the bill, but we requested an even split to make it as easy as possible. The manager returned, placed the cards on the table, and said "you have to figure it out, only 2 cards". We all thought it was a joke...considering how rude he was. (apparently he was fired from Melvyns in PS?) but then realized there was zero discussion... he walked away. Even after explaining we've split the check many times and after expressing our disappointment , the manager refused to engage - other then say our "system doesn't allow it" (But oddly their "system" allowed it a few weeks ago when he wasn't there...) . We all dine out several nights a week... there is no system that doesn't allow multiple cards. Its an internal policy out of laziness. BTW, I've never seen the restaurant more then 30% full at best. Unfortunately because of the manager... I will never return and warn others to stay away if you plan on splitting the bill.

Worst service by the host B****! He has no CS skills! The bartenders were efficient, professional and kind! The food gets a “B”And the band with Eddy… they were amazing! Outstanding performance! Not a good first time experience but who knows, I may try again the next time I visit!

Had a 7:30 reservation. Didn't see a waitress until 7:50... Didn't get our first drinks until 8:15. Placed an order for an appetizer and it came out wrong. Got it fixed and then put in our dinner order. The place was busy and after reading reviews of slow service I was giving the benefit of the doubt that they were just backed up. At 9:45 the waitress asks if we want another drink or if she should get us the check. I told her that we were still waiting for our food. She looks at her watch and says "oh I'm sorry the kitchen is closed". I looker at her dumbfounded and said yeah but we ordered over an hour ago.. She says "no" lol.. I said "yes" and tell her what we ordered. She realized she screwed up, put her hands on her face and said she would go check with the kitchen. At 10pm the live music stopped everyone left and all the tables around us were being cleaned up. The waitress was bringing her other tables their checks and basically avoiding us. I asked to speak to a manager because at this point we weren't going to eat our meals while the rest of the restaurant is being cleaned up. Took about 10 minutes for him to come over... He said "I've been told there was a delay, so I just wanted to come apologize". Delay?!? I explain the situation and that we've been here since 7:30 and he says he'll go look into it. He comes back and says that they are going to adjust the bill. The waitresses comes back with the food and at this point it's 10:15, frustrated and angry we refuse the food and just want to leave. At 10:30 she comes back and says that they took off drinks (2 of the lower priced drinks of the 5 we ordered) and the food (which we never ate). The bill was 58 bucks. I usually tip regardless of slow service but it was obvious that the waitress screwed up royally and then either lied or did not tell the entire truth to the manager and also never really apologize to us. I thew 60 bucks down and walked out after being in the restaurant for 3 hours and not having dinner. There is no way we should have paid for anything. Once I explained to the manager the situation at 10:00 he should have just told us that we could leave and comped everything so we could get out of there. Instead we sat there for 30 more minutes to pay 60 dollars for one of the oddest "dining" experiences I've ever had. Two stars becaue once the appetizer was fixed it was pretty good and the vibe and life music were fun.

I have visited Larkspur Grill on many occasions. This is truly the only time where they've just not hit the mark. We were stuck off to the side of the stage with very bright (not traditional restaurant lighting but, more importantly, the meals just weren't very good! I had the swordfish and it was over-the-top salty. My date had the salmon and it too was salty and slightly burnt on one side. Sneaky of the kitchen staff to turn the burnt side down and still serve it. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come!

Food was meh at best. multiple dishes were blend. Mashed potatoes were cold and lumpy. May be the kitchen had an off day.

I rated Larkspur 2 stars cause I always give food primary importance. It was mediocre at best. We ordered sliders to start. They were overdone, tough and grainy. Not good quality at all. My wife ordered the 3 meatballs that must have been made of same chopped meat as the sliders - same comment. HOwever we ordered a very simple dish to split, the hummus and cut vegetables, like carrots, celery etc. This dish was ok. The place itself, physically is very nice. We sat on the patio and the chairs were very comfortable and the wine was good. Our French waiter was attentive and very helpful. Of course he does not control the kitchen.

Tonight we had a very negative experience. This restaurant is charging an entertainment fee of $6 per person. You are not forewarned and it is in the fine print at bottom of menu. We shared a burger which ended up costing us $36 for one burger & fries. When asked they had charged an EXTRA $5 to upgrade to truffle fries and $5 to split the burger. We had a sweet waitress but communication in i general is lacking! We were never told about this our bill came. They did agree to take off the entertainment fee as we were very upset.

One of the worst experiences we've had dining in the desert. Waitress was great, however, 1.5 hours to deliver our appetizers, another hour to recieve our entrées. The short ribs were disgusting, a brick of rubber could not even cut through the meat. Music was good but, truly, a horrible dining experience. .

Last night four of us reserved a table for 6:00 pm to watch the Slim Man duet at The Larkspur Grill. The service at this restaurant for lack of a better word was horrible. We ordered drinks at 6:00 and after 2 trips to the bar and speaking with a manager we finally got our drinks. (40 minutes later) We also finally ordered dinner after again waiting to be acknowledged and tried to order a second set of drinks. Again I went to the manager . Our dinner never came nor did the waitress come to give us a chance to order a second round of drinks. We once again spoke to the manager and tried to pay the bill for our drinks. It took forever to try and pay and eventually the manager paid for our drinks. We left the restaurant and finally had a late dinner at Cafe Beaux Des Artiste where we immediately got our drinks and ordered a great dinner. What a different experience. I have been to the Larkspur Grill 3 times and myself and our friends and done with this restaurant. The service and food is totally inconsistent and they are very short staffed.

Went on Sat 6:30 pm 1/7/23 part of 6. Was sat promptly with a great server initially. Place was not to busy. Started with a round of cocktails- but then told they had no cucumbers to make one of their signature cocktails- that's odd. Ordered 5 appetizers that came to table in good time , all were good, nothing spectacular but good. We promptly put in our entrée orders while waiting for our appetizers. Three ordered the special- which our server should a photo of it- (nice touch)one cheese tortellini, 1 short rib and one large salad. And then we waited, and waited and saw the restaurants other tables get served and leave- and we waited- about another hour from appie's for our dinners to arrive. Our server went MIA during this long wait. We saw employees hanging out at hostess stand chatting- bar was empty. Finally the food came, the tortellini looked dried up, the bowl was hot but pasta cold and dry- clearly they plated it to soon and microwaved it. We asked for it to be heated up thinking the would notice it need some sauce being all dried up- they didn't. They just microwaved it again- it was horrible, completely initiable. The special was good but one was played incorrectly and missing other side items from the dish- after waiting so long we didn't say a word. One of the reason we just didn't bother saying anything was because of the 3 piece band that started at 7 pm- the music was so loud- like a concert that we could not talk to each other. Also they were not so good, at a lower volume it would have been ok, and the female singer was ok, but the male singer was always badly off key. At such a high volume it was hard to ignore his bad voice. And the band had 4 friends there to cheer them on sat right behind us that must have thought this was a concert as well because of their loud screaming of support- it just was not a fine dining experience. We appreciate their enthusiasm, but not during the main dining seating, maybe later in the night- someone working at the restaurant should have been more aware of what was going on. Hubby paid so fast so we could leave he didn't notice we were charged $16.00 for the cucumber cocktail we NEVER received- our server Lady M missed that too. So over $500 later it's clear we will NOT go back, we have tried them a few times and nothing was ever great but had potential- this was the last - seems the kitchen and the dining room have no direction or leadership.

Sat at the bar tonight, great band but absolutely brutal service. The tall guy behind the bar was especially bad, spent more time talking and joking with other bar staff than attending to customers. When I was able to catch his attention and ask for something he’d say I’ll be right there and then would get distracted and not come back. This happened twice with me. The guy next to me asked him two or three times for his bar tab and each time he’d say sure and then end up talking with his work buddies and forget about bringing the tab. The customer eventually just gave up and left without paying and I didn’t blame him a bit. I see other reviews on here complaining about the very poor service, why does management put up with this. Or is management the problem?

C
Cyndi Mitchell

Went. For the prime rib on Monday night and it was awful. We ordered it medium and we ended up with the well done end cut that had been sliced into 2 pieces because they ran out at 5:30 pm. The waiter and manager did not care and would not remove the 2 entrees from the bill. DO NOT EAT HERE. It was a horrible experience from the food to the service.

We went there on Saturday night around 7pm place was dead , maybe 25 people, ordered our food salad came right away and was ok , waited 30 minutes for our mains and nothing, so I asked the bartender he said it would be right out, 10 minutes later still nothing and 3 people that arrived well after us all got their food, then waitress said it would be 2 minutes, about 7 minutes later still nothing, saw an older man walking around with a name tag and I asked him if he was the manager he said yes and I told him our issue, he started asking the bar staff where our food was he ran back to the kitchen and said it would be out soon , I said forget it paid the bill and left, this place has gone down hill, spend your money elsewhere!!!
