Went for the Sunday early bird 3 course price fix special on the porch. Great choice. Done to perfection. Tender steak and seafood. The waitress could not be any more attending and friendly. Her helpers the same. The bartender made me my special custom cocktail. I even enjoyed the classic rock music too. Going back for the Wednesday prime rib special.

I recently attended both a fundraising gala and a comedy night at PH Steakhouse and I was very impressed with the quality of the food and the service. The appetizers were particularly good and the bartender, Rachel, had great energy and was fun. The atmosphere was energizing and that added to the overall experience. Both events were well organized and I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great night out. I hope to attend more comedy nights.

What a wonderful little spot. When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly smile from our server, Jen and a real wood fireplace crackling. Our choices were cooked perfectly to our requests and delicious. The service was fast and friendly… it was just a perfect small town steak dinner for 4. Well done, PH.

This is an awesome hotel!! The room was absolutely wonderful...huge, beautiful, very comfy, a huge sitting room I did not expect. 2 TV's! I never heard a sound in that room. Wonderful windows with light coming in. I totally recommend this place. Staff is great, restaurant and bar downstairs was great, with good food, friendly bartenders. Best hotel room I have stayed in. Only suggestion would e to get better towels but what I had was sufficient. Great location...Chester is a beautiful little town with gorgeous surrounding towns. The stores were really nice to visit with some beautiful antique places and stores that had worthwhile things to buy.. Would love to live here and will definitely stay again at the Publick House Hotel if I can.

The bar and restaurant are excellent. It is an adult only place which is so great for date night. Excellent music, the band is talented, not too loud so you can talk without yelling. The wait staff does good work quietly and the Bar is quick to deliver a special drink. It is pricey, $23 per drink and up, however for the atmosphere and well prepared food, it is OK to pay a premium for top notch food and beverage.

We had a great dinner celebrating a special anniversary. Both the service and food were excellent and we cannot wait to return soon! Sterling was a great server; we felt well taken care of

Popped in with a friend for a light bite at lunchtime and really enjoyed it! The bartender, Kim, is super sweet and really attentive. We had shrimp cocktail, wedge salad, and fungi flatbread- everything tasted fresh and delicious! Also shared a couple of classic cocktails which were fantastic. Will definitely be back again soon!

Went there for lunch. It was a weekday so they were not very crowded. Parking is behind the building. Service was quick We had both regular water and sparkling water both came with their own bottles. The server poured the first glass for us and then left the bottles on the table for us to refill as needed. Love this. Had the veggie wrap which was good but a little bland. Had dessert the apple crisp very tasty came out warm with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. Yummy. The server was very friendly and attentive and would definitely go back again.

Absolutely the best jazz band around Friday nite the 8/22, today. Good music, good drinks, highly recommended.

We had such a great, awesome dinner & service with Joe Y, (tall Joe) tonight! (We’ve been coming to eat at this restaurant location for over 30 years;) Every time we come to Chester & want to eat at PH Steakhouse we hope Joe’s our server. He’s very warm & caring & is the reason we keep returning! 🙌🏻🎊

We were there for Thanksgiving. It was amazing , it had ra wide variety of entrees all deliciously prepared 😍 and traditional Thanksgiving entrees. The carving station had turkey, ham and prim rib. For me the raw bar was a delight which makes the price well worth it. The desert buffet was beautiful with a wide variety of deserts. The price was well worth it for the seafood alone. I highly recommend it. The service was good and it had a warm homey feeling with a fireplace. Thanks for a lovely Thanksgiving.

Stellar service. Sterling is INCREDIBLE. Had a wonderful dining experience. everything was fresh. And gave the impression like it was farm to table. definitely a return and repeat performance.

We had a great meal. The special, 8oz Filet Mignon, melted in your mouth!!! Super delicious as was the Olive crusted Salmon. They have a nice outside patio. The manager(a gentleman, I didn't get his name) was attentive and very professional. Genuinely interested in making sure we were happy and loving our meal. Definitely going back!!!!

Wife and I had a great experience here. From the bartenders to the wait staff, everyone was great. I got the bone in ribeye and wife had the filet. The seasoning was great and we will definitely be back!

We came to PH steakhouse for our birthday lunch celebration. Food and service is excellent. PH Steakhouse has a great drink and food menu. As a steakhouse they catered to all palates including vegetarian. I would recommend PH Steakhouse for a great luncheon experience and fantastic service from Christina

The food and service were excellent! Great size portions. Ask for Sterling as your server. A very nice young man and does his job well! Definitely stop in, you won’t be disappointed!

I had an amazing experience at PH Steakhouse! The service was above and beyond, everyone was so attentive and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious; the steaks were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The music created such a great atmosphere, and even the stay was perfect, with super comfy beds and an easy check-in/check-out process. Everything was just excellent from start to finish. Highly recommend!

Stopped in for lunch on Sat (for 2nd week in a row). PH burger is fantastic!! Also shared a wedge salad and delicious garlic parm wings cooked and sauced to perfection. Fiddlehead on tap.

great drinks and atmosphere. had a late lunch/ light supper, tuna poke appetizer, burrata, wedge salad with grilled shrimp and lobster salad. all great. nice wine selection by the glass service was excellent

Our meal was amazing. The service was fantastic and it's a favorite place of ours. The country charm in every room, paintings and scenery are something to be experienced. The food never disappoints. I had swordfish, he had ribeye and we shared a shrimp cocktail and crabmeat appetizer. The best ever ! Plus a scrumptious dessert...

PH Steakhouse is definitely a little pricy, but the food quality is very good. I haven't had a bad steak there yet, and the burgers, salads, flatbreads, and seafood dishes are great. The $125 Friday datenight dinner for two gets you a bottle of wine (from a small selection) appetizer, main and dessert, and it's well worth it.

We really enjoy everything about this place. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. The food is good and quality is there. I wish there was more to the lunch menu, but it was limiting but okay for lunch. I had the steak sandwich, and it was really good, but the bread was a bit spongy. Regardless, I enjoyed it. Our waiter was a nice guy and was on point with the apple crisp dessert suggestion. We will return. I ate me dessert before I could take a picture, but it looked good and tasted better.

I'm giving it four stars and not five because of the music. When I'm eating I kind of want it quiet. The food was excellent but expensive. But for me personally I don't like a whole lot of noise when I'm eating.

PH Steakhouse was a solid 4-star experience. The interior was a little strange—definitely not your typical steakhouse vibe—but it had its own quirky charm. My steak was cooked pretty well, juicy and flavorful, just the way I ordered it. The service stood out too—friendly, attentive, and not overbearing. All in all, a good meal that I’d be happy to come back for

Thanksgiving buffet- no complaints about the food it was very good. Drinks are good but very pricey. My only complaint was the service. Very nice waitress but not worth the 75.00 tip added to the bill for a BUFFET for 4 when dirty plates were piled on the table.

A good place for a night out with friends, bar ambience is pretty good, food also. We sat at a table next to a guy playing guitar and singing, it was a Friday night, it got a bit loud to have a good conversation. Next time I would chose a table at the back, close to the bar. Plenty of parking space.

The food is good. Not great, not wonderful, just good. It's very pricey for a mediocre steak. Also, our waitress refused to write down our big and complicated order. It took us repeating the order 3 times before she got it. I'm happy that the food came out cooked properly, but please write things down. You're not impressing anyone by trying to memorize it.

just not worth the $$ for my family. We had a larger party 9. seating was fair. Service, not worth the money. We always treat servers well. The quality of their service is product of leadership. We may go back but not soon.

Atmosphere was nice with the band and bar vibe, wings were under cooked still raw in some spots, burger was ok, greasy but I don’t mind that, the French Dip my wife had was excellent.

Food was okay. Shrimp tacos were 90% slaw and 10% shrimp. Rest of the party wasn’t thrilled with their selections either. However, service was excellent and loved the ambiance! I’d give it another try. Maybe it was an off day.

First time at PH and what a great experience. My husband had the Tuna poke, French Onion Soup & the porterhouse which he said was delicious. I has the Crispy Burrata & Filet Mignon which also delicious. Our server Joe was very good and very attentive. I would recommend PH if you are.looking for a good meal and great atmosphere.

Hostess was nice, server was nice. Ambience and atmosphere were different , music was a little low to non existent so you just heard chatter. The food was ok, DO NOT ORDER THE POTATO AU GRATIN, dry and bland! Burrata was small but good, bone in rib-eye was overcooked. Mushroom risotto was great and Brussels were delicious, everything else was sub par especially for the price.

We have stayed at the Publick House hotel on several occasions visiting nearby in Randolph. PH is literally the only hotel unless you go father in the opposite direction to Rt. 80 in Mt. Arlington. The rooms are huge, and nice enough given the age of the building. There is not a level surface and the bed is propped up to be sort of level. It really is a great location on historic main street in Chester. The issues are with the almost complete lack of hot water, and absolutely no way to reach staff to get help. It also didn't help that the room was in the process of getting cleaned at 5:30 when we were trying to check in -- long enough after the posted time of 4:00 when the room was supposed to be ready. For a great location, and the only hotel within miles -- just know some compromises are in order.

They are trying but missing the mark. I really wanted to like this restaurant. My impression is that the restaurateur is not on premises. Service was way below par, slow, and somewhat uninterested. Floor manager not seeing it, and not directing. I’ve never had a meal, paid the bill, and left the establishment with out the table being bussed. Empty tables all around with dirty dishes, so not an isolated event. This is costing them. A sense of “not my job” as if everyone had specific instruction to perform their assigned role only. Not employees issue. Lack of appropriate hospitality direction. Food was mediocre at best, poor presentation. Ordered Delmonico steak. Very fatty, literally 40%. I am very happy to pay premium prices when experience and food bring value. This is not a staffing issue. Leadership and direction for the staff seems to be the challenge.

Refinished historic hotel and restaurant. Food was below average, and service was very inconsistent. The beds are not comfortable, the shower wouldn't get hot, and the lights flickered constantly. No microwave in the rooms and the smallest fridge they make. Overall, not happy.

Just took my wife and kid out to celibate Mother’s Day yesterday night. Food is in our opinion grossly over priced for what we received. I have no problem paying a high price for a good meal. I understand set menus for mother day and that does come with a higher priced meal, but honestly the food was just as good at the dive bar down the street. From the get go the what looked like the manager was very unfriendly and our waiter was cold. No one offered a high chair for our child either which I did specifically ask for when booking the reservation. Hoping the owners or management see this and address the issue. I had a reservation so I know they have my phone number. I’m happy to write a positive review, but what I received from an upscale restaurant last night was far from that.

I was so looking forward to dinner at PH Steakhouse after so many years of the site being closed!! Unfortunately, my experience was worse than anticipated. My first choice for dinner was a skirt steak, what I thought would be a usual order at a steak house, but unfortunately,, it was not available. In its place I ordered the sirloin tips, equal in price, and affordable. What arrived were tough tidbits of meat with a sauce that was very salty and tasted burnt. The waitress was apologetic for both the lack of the skirt steak and the undesirable substitution I received. She offered complimentary desserts as compensation. My chocolate mousse dessert turned out to be little more than chocolate pudding!! Although I had chosen a less pricey meal, I expected better quality than I received. Although the service was superior from the hostess to the server, the meal was less than satisfactory.

I have never written a review before. My husband and I ate here sometime in December and it really good. Good drinks, friendly professional service and the porter house for two was spectacular. We sat at the bar that night just all around nice. Last night we sat at a high top in the bar and immediately noticed three tables around us filled with dirty dishes with the wait staff having zero interest in cleaning it up and zero personality. Salads were good but no crushed pepper no extras at all. My swordfish was pretty flavorless and my husbands steak 70% fat, Mac and cheese bland. He did say his drink was good but they charged $3 for a club soda. At this rate $240 for two people with only one adult drink and mediocre food not someplace I can recommended or return to. I’m giving it two stars because of the first experience otherwise I’d give it less than zero for good last one.

We had a horrible experience here the night before our wedding. The fire alarm went off twice in the middle of the night and it turns out there’s no hotel staff that are there overnight so we were the only two people in the entire hotel. I called the manager/owner and he didn’t apologize or seem to care that the alarm was going off and woke us up at 12:30am.. Then the second time it went off the fire department said it was a faulty smoke alarm and they made it seem like they come to the hotel/restaurant a lot for issues. The hotel is VERY close to the fire station so if you are staying in a room right by the main road, you can hear the fire station alarm loud and clear. In the morning there was still no one at the front desk to complain to until the restaurant opened. They also lock the door to the restaurant from the hotel so we at first didn’t know which door to go out when the alarm was going off.. all of it just seems like a huge saftey/liability issue that there is no one there at all times. Needless to say won’t be staying here ever again, if you need to stay in the area, stay somewhere farther away it’ll be worth it.

We had lunch here today. Ordered Caesar Salad with Grilled Salmon; husband had Fish & Chips. Husbands meal was brought out without mine, Server said they forgot my Salmon. When mine came out I cut the Salmon in half and the middle was raw. I told the server I have a food allergy to uncooked fish ( sushi ) and he took it back to kitchen . My husband was already halfway done with his- I said just the salad by that point. Close to tears I walked out. No Manager came over to apologize. We were charged for my uneaten Caesar Salad. We would never return. I did mention to our Server that I use a food thermometer at home. Shame on them that our lunch was awful and unsafe for me. We would never return. They were not even crowded!

My wife is gluten intolerant and they didn’t want to substitute the fries for something else for the difference in cost. So if you like a good juicy cheeseburger and you are gluten intolerant, don’t go here.

Worst service ever! we made a reservation for 6:45 on Saturday night for our anniversary. We arrived early to have a couple of drinks at the bar. The restaurant wasn't overly crowded and we were the only people at the bar. Service was slow, but the atmosphere was nice, so no big deal there. we were seated on time at 6:45. Waiters and waitresses were around taking care of other tables and no one came by after seating to offer water, drinks, anything. After waiting 15 to 20 minutes and watching others finish meals, my husband finally asked for a drink order to be taken. The waitress said ok and we waited another 15 minutes with still no recognition of even being there ( the people at the table next to us were ready to leave and the waiter was asking if they would like another drink!) First time I ever got up and walked out of a restaurant. I don't mind waiting for good food, but this was ridiculous. Would not recommend and would not step foot in there again!

Just say "NO" to the Tomahawk Steak. Bizarre presentation with an old dry bone. I don't think the steak was attached to the bone when cooked. Manager offered to buy us dessert as compensation. Won't go back. Not our first Tomahawk. Just order something else. Waiter brought knives and plates much later than the steak, which means steak was not hot when we could finally eat it.

Everything was great ! Food and service …. Until I paid and a waitress just came running to me practically requesting more tips…. Just screwed up the whole positive experience. Apparently 10 dollars tips was not enough…. Rude and disrespectful person…. No apologies….

Came here for lunch, ordered a caesar salad with shrimp. Before the plate was even on the table, you could smell something was off with the shrimp. Absolutely nauseating. Would not recommend dining here. Overpriced and definitely a health hazard.

Disgusting, overpriced, and horrible service. Next time hit up a food truck. $170 for a couple going out for dinner with no alcohol. Filet and wedge salad for her and ribeye for me. Food quality was disgusting. Mine undercooked twice and of diner quality steak. Wife's was so bad she only had a few bites. This was absolutely disgusting. The owner should be ashamed of themselves and embarrassed.
