Cantina Laredo sets a high standard for quality Mexican food at a reasonable price. We went here on valentine's day, without a reservation, when we thought every restaurant in the city would be fully booked. They seated us immediately, and the experience was flawless. The portions are balanced so that even through multiple courses I was satisfied but not too full. The drinks were great as well. I recommend the tuna tacos as an appetizer, and the al pastor fajitas for the main course. For dessert, we shared a wonderful mango tres leches cake. I foresee myself returning to this restaurant whenever I'm craving good Mexican food.

Perfect fine dine experience. It was like best of all world coz you get to it Mexican food in a fine dine restaurant. Food and service both were great and so was the ambiance. The place is worth your time and money

GREAT EXPERIENCE! Our waiter was beyond friendly and did everything he could to make sure we were satisfied. He knew the menu very well and made great recommendations. He even cut the cake (we were allowed to bring in) for my friends birthday. The food was spectacular and the table side guac was fresh and tasty. I don’t have one bad thing to say about this place. New favorite Mexican spot!

My wife and I absolutely loved this place! The decor is awesome with perfect table lighting. Chips and two salsas to start: 1 warm and a little spicy, the other cool and mild. Then we ordered a couple of tasty Margaritas. My wife's was very strong but that's not a problem. For an appetizer we got the ceviche. Interesting presentation but very flavorful and a good size. Then for dinner we got barbacoa and carnitas tacos, respectively. The barbacoa tacos were delicious but the carnjtas tacos were the best I have ever had! The Chipotle wine sauce they use just made the flavor burst in my mouth. Highly recommend getting them. Lastly, when we didn't have any room decided to still order some flan. It was very moist and tasted good, thus meeting my expectations. Overall it was a fantastic experience with amazing food and the prices weren't bad either. Definitely a gem!

This place is beautiful. The staff is great. The food and drinks are delicious. Went for my birthday and I didn't want to leave. Loved it.

The pollo en tomatillo was on point! Chicken was a tad dry, but the tomatillo sauce was by far the best I've had. Ordinarily I don't finish all of my food, especially after munching on chips and salsa. I finished my ENTIRE plate here! The employees were bright and friendly. Our server, Juan, was wonderful! The restaurant itself was clean, had very modern architecture and tones, and the atmosphere around 3 pm leading into 4:30 pm was quiet but social! Highly recommend!

Reviews didn’t do this place justice! I thought it was amazing! Loved the environment. Higher end, not an “authentic” Mexican environment but I loved the higher end aspect to it.

Cantina Laredo provided us with a great experience through and through. I planned a meal here as part of my Mother's birthday weekend and emailed them in advance inquiring about vegan options, as none were labelled on the menu. I got not one but TWO replies from separate people breaking down all of the off menu vegan options. Cut to the brunch - we are seated immediately. My initial chair was wobbly, no matter, I switched it out for (unfortunately) a much older gentleman to sit in it later on. Sorry! Our server came over and announced that the brunch menu includes a mimosa. Awesome! I informed the server about the secret vegan food we were looking to get and he went back to check with the kitchen. My mother was impressed that they brought out another chips and salsa without having to ask. We ordered the veggie fajitas which also came with rice and beans. Everyone enjoyed their food. A manager came by and chatted with us. All in all we were quite satisfied!

Great place with an amazing ambiance. We entered with no reservation and there was a 30min wait. We sat on the bar instead. I ordered a tortilla soup which was Ok. Favorite thing is the simple yet amazing chips dip that gets served for everyone.

Came here for my birthday and the food was very homemade and delicious. I order a carne asada plate and an original margarita. They got a super spicy salsa ... you got top ask for it other wise they will bring you a mild one. And since it was my birthday they brought me a churro with a sparkler !!!! Very unique.

i had the CAMARON POBLANO ASADA. (Shrimp, mushroom, jack cheese stuffed poblano pepper wrapped with a fire-charred skirt steak with chimichurri sauce, charred street corn and cilantro lime rice) and it was GREAT! I ate every single thing on my plate! Our server was great, everyone else seemed pleasant as well! everything was reasonably priced

Great location! STL as a city is really putting themselves on the MAP as far as places to visit, shop, dine and enjoy. I was very impressed. While I know this is a franchise, we have one of these in Chicago as well. I'm just happy to see STL developing neighborhoods that are trendy with a large city vibe.

A must visit place for excellent Mexican food. Place is very large and has a nice ambience as well. Good selection of food that tastes delicious, not too on the pricey side either. The table side guacamole is a must get!

Nice restaurants, good for groups and events. Good service, fresh chips and guacamole. I ordered the chicken milanesa sandwitch and I enjoyed it even though the fries were over salted. Overall good experience.

Delicious!!! Spicy complex flavors. More than your standard Mexican. Chicken enchilada en tomatillo was to die for. Big, open, a little loud

Walked in late evening with no problems getting in, though a little earlier the place looked slammed. The service was very friendly and the food was awesome. The guacamole made table side was exquisite. I had the carnitas tacos which were very tasty. The nachos were a very generous portion and very good. The place is tastefully decorated. Will definitely go again.

We had a bachelorette party there last week. Jesse provided great service, and the event coordinator Alex went above and beyond to ensure our guests were satisfied. Everyone was so grateful that we chose this restaurant! The food was delicious, and we had a great time! Thank you!!! I would recommend this restaurant for hosting a large party!

This might have been the best Mexican food I've ever had. Very unique flavorful cuisine and lovely atmosphere. I asked for the hottest salsa when we were served chips and salsa, and it and the chips were so good! The mild salsa was also excellent and both were so different from any other Mexican restaurant. I had ahi tuna (mini) tacos. That was a first for me, and I loved them! We will definitely return!

Found this great restaurant in the spring of 16. Whenever we are in the city we always try to eat here. Great atmosphere. Great service. You have to get the guacamole made at your table. Drinks are super good and all prices are reasonable for Chicago. I would recommend this place without hesitation to anyone.

If you want more bang for your buck this is the place to go. The tapas menu is fun for 2 to 3 people (order two of each item if you are expecting 4 people) and the quality is pretty high! Margaritas are going for $11 to $13 which are like suburb prices. And they are real good! It's a large space too, so while it can get noisy on busy hours, the off hours are quiet and perfect for a date night.

C

The atmosphere is so warm and friendly. excellent service. Their guacamole is made fresh in front of your table and made as requested (spices, etc.). We had several beverages and everyone seemed pleased with the experience as well as the mouth watering food. I personally loved their steak tacos with the cheese dip. Would love to return again.

The food was fantastic, the service was great and the atmosphere is beautiful. This is a place to spend an afternoon chatting with friends and family. The prices are high, but worth every penny for the consistently delicious food being served. The pricey margheritas on offer are also delicious and unique. The only negative is that they don't have enough outdoor space. The very limited patio seating doesn't serve food, only drinks. They need a rooftop deck.

I'm not typically one to leave reviews, but this restaurant blew me away so much I feel like it deserved one. Gorgeous ambience, fast and amazing service (thank you, Carlos!) and the genuinely best steak tacos i've ever had. The best part- the meal and drinks for both me and my girlfriend came out to $43. Cannot recommend this place enough, we will be making the 1+ hour drive back soon, just for this restaurant. Highly, highly recommend.

So many great things to say about this place!! Service was great, even with our waited handing a big party, we still got good service. What really makes this place is the food. It's delicious all the way around. The chef really puts a great finishing touch on the dishes. Every dish, from the Seasonal Guac to the very last dessert dish kept us captivated. We can't wait to visit again!!

We had dinner here and loved the chicken fajitas that included fresh made shells along with the salsa. Service was great as well. We decided to come back for brunch and it was just as good and came with free Mimosas. You’ll be glad you tried it.

Great spot for lunch. The place is huge. We had chicken and ahi-tuna tacos, chicken with mole and Mango Tres Leches and Flan for dessert. The ahi-tuna tacos and desserts were great.

Cantina Laredo is an upscale Mexican restaurant. Great margaritas and the wait staff are very attentive.

The food is okay...had better Mexican cuisine. Very nice atmosphere and decor. Excellent service. They make fresh guacamole right by your table and it was too acidic. They made a better one upon request. The tacos were good.

Ambience is good, service was great but I honestly did not like the margarita, not much tequila in there, and tacos weren't that tasty... My wife and I agree on that. Tamales were great.

U
UnCommon Scentz

I had a good time here. I love the fact there were bottomless chips and salsa. The guac was delicious. The Chicharrones? A nice touch. Casa Margaritas x 2 (pomegranate and then mango)were soooooooo good. I had the enchiladas, which were decent as well. The real star here was the dessert. I think passiin fruit was in the drizzle. A party of 4, with multiple deserts and options around 200 bucks. Not including the tip. Dope night out in Chicago.

The guacamole was amazing and so were the tacos..The only downfall was the service was really slow. It took a solid 10 minutes to get waters. We only saw our waitress 4 times throughout the whole dinner. A big let down.

Upscale modern Mexican atmosphere with interesting twists on classic dishes. Excellent service.

Great place. It's quiet big for the location. We had party of 9 and almost all of us were happy with our food and drinks. They have a good selection of vegetarian options as well. For such large party a little more Attention to refill water and regular check-in would have helped . I recommend this place for its exotic drink collection .

I wish I could give them 2.5 starts; this is an upscale, huge, well decorated Mexican place, not to pricey so looks like a win win; but no. We had a reservation for 12 ppl, and got there like 10min early (we were two), they sat us but didn't offer water, I wanted to order a cocktail but nobody checked on us, had to go and ask the host, "you know where's our server?" Finally our server came, we ordered the drinks and then our party arrived. Almost everyone ordered drinks. Two friends of mine ordered the same drink, one virgin and one regular... both came without alcohol, we told that to the server, she took the drink and came back in like 2min, with the same drink. We guessed the bartender just poured alcohol into the drink and that's all, I mean really? It was a elaborated cocktail the right thing to do was to make a new one, or at least really try to fix that one, not have the server mix the drink with the straw on her way to the table. I had Empanadas and Ceviche (tapas section)... the empanadas were ok, the ceviche was below average, I don't think the fish was fresh enough. Also had a bit of the chicken tacos, it was good. Anyway the food was nothing special (according to all my friends) so I won't say it's bad (except for the ceviche). But the service was awful, the server never came to check on us, my glass of water was empty for a while, until the end of the night when we asked for the check and more water. I don't see myself going back or recommending this place. Just a "pretty decoration" is not enough.

Really enjoyed this place. Mexican food with a twist. The food was alright, the the chicken had zero flavor. Need more seasoning. The seating is comfortable and the decor is really nice.

Nice atmosphere, but bar service on the lower level was not great. The guys did not once check on us after we received our 1st drink, nor did they even asked if we wanted to order anything from the menu. My drink was finished, didn't ask if I wanted another drink. Probably not coming back. I'm sorry, but yes, there are other options, just wanted to throw this out there. Top bar has better service.

M
Miguel AAG

I ordered three different types of tacos, the three orders were cold, the tortilla was not hot, the worst tacos in all of Chicago. They spoiled my family dinner. Of course, I won't be back anymore!
