Celestino's is a Chico staple, especially loved by university students. Customers rave about the NY-style pizza, particularly the thin, foldable slices with fresh toppings. The friendly staff and clean environment are also frequently praised. Some find the downtown location inconvenient.

As close to NYC pizza as you can get without all the noise of the big city. Large slice, great crust...perfectly cooked. A thrill for those who like it thin
I used to eat here more often than I'd like to admit as a Chico State student. The Oscar's Spicy is "last meal" material. Seriously, if I was going to be executed I would want just one slice, a side of ranch, and a Dr pepper and be able to die a happy enough man. I'm driving up from Sacramento tomorrow for a slice.
Well, the tomato sauce, taste like tomatoes you can taste cheese everything is fresh best pizza in town and the garlic knots are the bomb. The sloop troop..
If you haven't been here before then you're missing out on some of the best pizza in NorCal. Every slice is given a quick reheat in the oven, so it comes out hot and crispy. The crust is just as good as the rest of the pizza. Reccomend the Tom Jones all the way, but every type of pizza they make is good.
My favorite pizza place In Chico. The pizza comes on medium and extra large sizes and I always like to get it double cut as the slices are huge. The oven is traditional instead of conveyer belt which makes the pizza taste much better. Their are lots of pizza options as well as other Italian dishes and Italian desserts. The Celestino’s on Salem is much better than the Celestino’s on East.
Anyone from the East Coast and craving authentic New York pizza?? Celestino's is hands down the best pizza in NorCal.... A taste of fresh NY style pizza right here! Downtown Chico location is my favorite... and wouldn't you know, the owner is from New York 😉
This is a classic Chico place, and if you're looking for pizza this is one of the best choices in town. Both locations do pizza by the slice, but they have a lot of other options. Obviously you can order a whole pizza, but if you want to do one yourself you can call ahead and they'll sell you their excellent dough.
The location off of Salem is a great place, good food, great people running it. The East Avenue location? Not so much. The people are rude at East Avenue, so much so you can smell the left-wing arrogance coming off them when you walk in the door. Won't even try their wares at that location as a result.
I was born in Manhattan NY backin the early 90s. I grew up on Italian pizza. Literally about 5-10 shops in a town depending on the town's size. So when I moved to Cali when I was 18, I haven't had good 🍕 that reminded me of back east in a LONG(3-4 years) time. When I visited Chico first, I tried Celestinos pizza for the fist time and fell in love! The crust is slightly crunchy on the outside, yet sweet an soft on the inside. I highly recommend!
As a native New Yorker, I make a point of visiting Celestino's every time I'm in Chico. The crust is crisp, the sauce delicious, and the cheese is the perfect amount! A slice of cheese and a slice of the Godfather is my go-to order. I highly recommend it!
Celestino's has been my go to pizza in Chico since they opened in 1997. The pizza is excellent and I really dig the people there including the owner who is clearly a kind gentleman. Celestino's truly is a treasured business in our community. I'm so grateful they have been able to stay in business during the uncertainty of 2020.
Some of the best NY style pizza you can get on the West Coast: thin, crispy, doesn’t collapse when you hold it up. Only a handful of places in SF and LA stand up to Celestino’s.
Great slices of pizza, paired with their salads makes a wonderful meal. Every time we go, I get 1 slice with salad, I think I'm going to need another slice of pizza, but I'm stuffed from what's on my plate. The pizza slices are hugh and so delicious. If your in chico, best place for pizza.
Pizza always delicious. It’s now a walk up instead of a sit down restaurant but we loved getting our favourites none the less. They gave us free water on a hottttt day. Thanks for the yummy grub Celestinos!
Best slices in Chico! Great specials as well as just slices. I can't name a favorite, as they are all perfect in their own way, right down to the cheese pizza! Perfect for a group meetup or just a lonely wander in.
The best pizza is NY style pizza. I have three go-tos. The Tom Jones, The Godfather, or the Sausage Roll. It’s thin crust but I don’t mind.
A standard classic of every Chico State student. Perfect place to meet with your club or other group. The pizza is amazing and ready super quick. Great deal, great place, great atmosphere.
A few slices for the family, a couple of salads, and drinks. The order was quick, the hot stuff was hot, and the cold stuff was cold. The only problems were there was no where to eat, so we sat at The Bear. Good pizza, but the salad was too boring for the price.
This is my favorite place to go in town for pizza. They do by the slice and the slices are huge. Yeah they can be a bit pricey but the food quality is worth it. They do salads beer canollies pizza calzones meatball subs and pizza pockets. I think they do wings, don't quote me lol best house ranch in town. They have student specials which is a slice and a drink (cheese and pepperoni apply) for like 5 or 6 bucks plus tax. My go to for pizza in chico.
I live over by the East Ave store and I will never eat there again because of the terrible customer service. The downtown location has better prices but most importantly, they treat their customers with respect. I drive clear across town for this service. Celestinos downtown is the best. Oh, and the Pizza is amazing too. 👍🏻
Best New York style pizza in town! Crispy crust, copious amounts of cheese, and a perfectly light sauce. If you're feeling extra hungry, get a combo with one of their salads! Their caesar salad is really tasty! Super fast service and perfect for a fast bite, or to sit down for a casual lunch. Their spaghetti and meatballs are also really great! Tons of garlic in the sauce and the meatballs have tons of flavor and are super juicy.
Great pizza always! Has been for 25+ years
You won't find any new York style pizza anywhere in Chico as good as Celestino's or my name ain't Tony...it ain't Tony but the sentiment remains! Been to New York very recently and its damn near spot on.
This is one of my favorite places to get food when I'm on campus, especially on my student budget. There are plenty of great combo options that can save you a buck and also taste pretty good. I personally recommend the slice combo with a slice of Godfather and a Cesar salad. The wait times are pretty short and the staff is super friendly.
Best pizza hands down! Workers are always so friendly and happy while at work. Great atmosphere weather before the pandemic or durning, the staff rocks here! Definitely recommend this place weather your grabbing something to eat on your lunch, or an outing with your kiddos
Love this place! Not only is it great pizza that is unique and well made but it doesn't cost an arm and a leg for quality food. The staff is beyond nice and always on point. Get the Tom Jones and godfather pizza. Both are great but if you can only get one I say the godfather. The calzones are off the charts as well. Crispy and filled with cheese but don't get that pocket of grease some calzones get.
I order Celestino's for my office 1-2 times a month, more if we're having a meeting or a birthday. Celestino's is always a crowd pleaser. We get the Tom Jones and the Classic Supreme or the Old Chico but I've recently discovered the pesto-ranch knots with cheese and now I'm obsessed! The owner and everyone that works there are all really nice. In probably 15 years of ordering from them, they remain consistently awesome; the delivery is quick, and the food is always delicious! It's our favorite for sure! Thanks Enzo and Team; you're all the best!
Good mix of classic NY style pizza with a California influence, the slice is slightly thicker than the cardboard pizza they have in NY but it's not thick, the toppings are rich and plentiful, it's really high quality pizza
ok after reading the new york review and me being from nj with my friend and we were in chico we had to try! can i say this is as close to ny as you going to get in norcal! kudos! awesome
This pizza place is always bustling. Very energetic atmosphere. There's a diverse mix of age groups who enjoy dining here. Inside and outside seating. We came in to pick up someone and decided to order for dinner two x-large pizzas. We were walking out the door with our pizzas in 20 minutes, despite how busy they were. Pizza was delicious and fed us twice. An X-large pizza a Celestinos is truly an X-large.
Owner needs to add TIPPING for credit cards at the downtown location please :) The kids that work here deserve more tips Please update for a tipping option for your staff!! Please please please!!! Thank you :)
There are lots of excellent pizza joints all over Chico, just like most towns. That being said, you cannot find a better New York style pizza in Chico! Especially if you get one of their specialties. Price is a bit high, but worth it.
Delivery from Celestino's never underwhelms, and unlike other ownership changes the quality never decreased. Food is always filling and flavorful, with some of the best pizza dough in Chico and the highest quality meats available, you can't go wrong. Celestino's is and always will be a Chico tradition.
Never been disappointed with the pizza. Agree with everyone that delivery is not good, but takeout and sit in is awesome. They throw it into the oven again right before serving, and pizza is always fresh because it sells so quick. Also, you can watch them make the food! The current cashier girl is more personable than the previous, not angry that you're in the shop. It's a fast paced register situation. Negatives: Bathroom is not convenient and needs a key... Not sure if it's even open anymore. Don't care for the sports on the TV... at least there's no sound because the music is usually good. Atmosphere is a college town pizza place.
My wife is from New Jersey and is VERY picky about her pizza. This is the only place she finds comparable to a New York slice. As for me I just like pizza in general so I'm happy with the taste and selection.
Really great pizza and salads. The pesto ranch lived up to the hype.
Still my favorite pizza spot in Chico! Affordable, nice big slices and taste great! I always get the Godfather and Tom Jones! For some reason, the East Ave location isn't as good though.
Genuinely one of my favorite places to go downtown. The food is delicious and affordable. The staff are always super nice and I always feel welcome.
The pizza is very good and the slices are large!!!! A lot of much flavor. Located right next to a park and Chico state You really will not be disappointed if you’re craving pizza. Parking is fun, it’s Chico! Staff are super friendly
The best pizza I've ever had. This place is consistently busy for a reason, but even if there's a line you'll still get your slice quickly. Oscar's Spicy Luau is my favorite of their recipes, but I haven't had one yet that I didn't like. If you're in town for any time at all and haven't had made the time to stop by, do yourself the favor and enjoy some amazing pizza.
I was going treasure hunting with my partner. We hadn't had lunch yet, so Start the Countdowns band leader suggested Celestinos. It was pizza I love and couldn't get for a long time. I showed Matt a place to look and he found melted metal and a couple of small 14k gold crosses. Nothing compared to the diamonds, pearl, rubys and sapphires that I'd found in that spot. I tried to find the owner but know luck.
Best place for pizza in town. If you like the thin foldable greasy pizza. Thicker crusts I prefer woodstocks. But love the lunch slice deals too. It’s my go to place. The location hasn’t changed much in at least 20 years and I like that nostalgic feel also.
Always great pizza, but be sure you're ordering from the right one. The pictures on this listing show photos of the OTHER location across town.
We were visiting there a couple weeks ago and my son and daughter in law suggested getting pizza here...i asked for 2 slices...i shouldnt have...the slices were massive...it was so delicious...cant find that here in arkansas...very good job...
Classic thin slice pizza. Great choices by the slice. People are nice. Old school pizza place environment
Very helpful team. Yummy food a typical New York style pizza large and thin but loaded with toppings.
Hands down BEST pizza in town!! Thin slice, perfect crisp crunch and the toppings are phenomenally fresh! 🤗 My personal favorite is the Tom Jones, Soo delicious! Definitely a "MUST TRY!"I could eat here the rest of my days! Thank you to the staff for the service 💯 I appreciate you making a fresh pizza when there were no more Tom Jones Slices left and being so kind to me! I'll see you again soon!!
I ordered Celestino’s pizza for my daughter on Sunday, 8/3/25, through Instacart (delivered by UberEats). UberEats ended up delivering another person’s order from different restaurant while Celestino’s was still making our order. I received a call from Celestino’s and spoke to an employee (I believe her name was Poppy). She made sure I still wanted the food as it was marked as delivered/closed out in the system and she wondered if I had cancelled the order. I told her I hadn’t, but it did appear we just received someone else’s food. She tried to refund me and when that failed, she tried to see if their in-house drivers had time to deliver as it was nearly closing time at this point. They couldn’t locate a driver, so she and another employee ended up personally delivering our order on their way home, off the clock!! I want everyone to know that Celestino’s not only has delicious food, but employees who really care about the customers and go the extra mile. I wish there was a way I could tip these two employees instead of the UberEats driver! They saved dinner! Soooo grateful.
Celestinos on Salem is the best pizza place in town. The pizza and the sausage roll is unbelievably amazing. The ranch is also really good. The staff is friendly and the ambiance is just what you'd expect for a pizza joint. The owner is friendly and service is fast and kind. Parking is a little hard but that's to be expected downtown.
We live in Chico but we come from the NY/NJ area and this is the closest we have come to our hometown pizza. Simply the best pizza in Northern California. The atmosphere and employees are awesome as well. They are always friendly, kind, and respectful to us. This restaurant is also always very clean. Much appreciated! Best Regards, Eli & Sonya
I haven't been to this place in probably 10 years. I had tried the other location but they don't have the Godfather pizza by the slice, so I decided to do something I had been refusing to do for years: go downtown. Literally my sole complaint about this location is that it's in downtown. I had yet to experience all the horrors done the changes were completed, and I'll tell you upfront, I won't be going back downtown unless it's on a Sunday, and even then, very rarely. The pizza was actually better than I remembered it. The crust was nice and crispy, the slice is a great size, out so tasted almost fresh out of the oven, the pesto is always awesome, and the staff were great. Prices are, of course, very high (over $5 for a slice) but that's nothing new and it's worth it.
I feel as if most pizza places don't sell pizza by the slice. This is an inconvenience for all the people who are just looking for 1 or 2 slices. Luckily, Celestino's has you covered. With several different variations on deck, there's something for everyone. My favorites are the Tom Jones and the Godfather.
I gave 4 stars for the pizza which was excellent, but the service was not. Rude and would not address my issue which was prices online was almost 5 dollars cheaper than inside the parlor. when asked why ? they brushed me off like it didn't matter and did not fix or compensate in any way..as much as I love this pizza I won't return or suggest too anyone else .. I cannot seem to delete this message but, as I was editing the owner did reach out to apologize and offer a discount on my next order. So thank you Enzo that meant a lot ..
This place is always 5 stars for me, but tonight was frustrating. We ordered a pizza and garlic knots online. Estimated 20 minutes. I show around 20 minutes later and they're really busy which I totally understand because I work in food service so no big deal. 35 minutes later my food is ready. I drive across town and find out I didn't have my garlic knots. I take partial blame for not double checking but it's also frustrating after waiting that long to not get all my food. I'll be back but this wasn't the experience I usually have here.
Pretty descent "new york" style thin crust pizza. Quick and easy lunch option close to campus with a good deal lunch special everyday. Lots of flavor options and lots of great "by the slice" options available.
If you're looking for a quick and easy slice of pizza, Celestino's is the place to go. The slices are thin and crispy, and they taste just like the pizza you'd get in New York. Plus, the ordering process is quick and easy from the window. And if you're on campus, you can easily walk there between classes. Just be sure to try their ranch sauce - it's delicious!
Really great pies, they deserve five stars for the quality of the pizzas. Great place to go if you want to get 1 or 2 slices. They just lose one star for the unfriendly staff members. Sometimes you walk in there and none of them give you a smile or hello. But that’s this the way college students are now days it’s not really the restaurants fault.
Excellent New York style pizza. The sauce and cheese is exquisite. The specialty items and styles are great as well. The same woman who works the register has such a "I would rather be doing anything else right now" customer service vibe it's actually an ongoing joke at this point and ironically endearing. The store is pretty against most college students loitering around before and after their meals for to long and unfortunately it feels like the tables and floors get cleaned only at the end of the day, if that. Still awesome and cheap place to grab a slice and they have a killer family meal deal. Pizza Tuesdays for life.
Celestino's pizza is the best in town if you like big NY style pizza. The one downtown is the best in Chico to stop for a slice of pizza. Close to the campus as you can get too. They seem to have a different menu than the East Ave. and Paradise locations. If you are getting a whole pie, I would suggest the other places cause they seem to have more variety.
I prefer thin crust pizza and Celestino's has exactly that: big thin crust New York style pizza. I was very excited to discover Celestino's when I moved to Chico several years ago and even more excited that they served "pizza by the slice ". So whenever I'm by myself and want pizza,I don't have to spend $15-$18 dollars on an entire small pizza. They also have great lunch specials for students do my high school son and his friends regularly walk over from Chico High School during lunch and there is plenty of room for lots of people inside and out. I love Celestino's and would definitly recommend it to any lovers of super thin crust New York style pizza!
I’ve been going to Cel’s for over ten years. My whole family has loved it. In the last few months, the quality of the pizza has slipped a little. The crust is tougher, and the sauce has become bland. We’re hoping it a passing phase. But I wanted to leave this review in hopes that the owner and managers might see it and tighten things up. Cel’s has had the recipe for success. It’s time they dust it off and take another look at it.
Prices are not terrible, especially for their student deal. The pizza is average, nothing amazing but definitely not bad. It's a great place to get reasonably full quickly (if you want to eat cheaply and just get one slice). Service is extremely quick and the wait is pretty much non-existent all the time. Would definitely recommend if you want a quick bite that won't cost you a ton.
It's a good go to spot in Chico, when you want a quick bite to eat. Beyond pizza they also have pasta which is quite good. The interior is on par with a pizza joint, nothing fancy, borderline not clean. The prices are a bit much, especially after going here for over a decade, but I guess all things are increasing in price. My biggest peeve is when you order a slice and salad for like $15 they put more salad than dressing, leaving you to pony up another 50¢ to adequately cover your salad. Finally, there is another Celestinos in Chico, but this location is twice as good!
Killer pizza and beer deals, solid large slices ~ however. The vents and air filters are clearly caked in dust and debris right above where you eat and serve food. I count 5 employees here on a Thursday afternoon, it takes one employee 5 minutes twice a year to clean and change these filters. Do better...
Great pizza and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. Thank you.
This is some tasty pizza. So tasty that I order types of pi:za that I have never tried and I don't usually do that anywhere, but it looks so good that I am compelled to ditch my picky ways to try something different.
Came in for a quick bite of lunch and was not disappointed! Chose the slide and salad combo with the Caesar salad option. Pizza was flavorful, I really like that the crust was thinner, but still nice and fluffy. They seem to mix some sort of flavoring into the cheese, which made my slice of pepperoni extra tasty. This is definitely a traditional college pizzeria, but still a good place to stop in! Overall a nice a filling lunch for under $13. Staff was super nice and patient as I took in the different food and pizza options. I would definitely come back again, and would recommend for a economical and satisfying lunch!
I'm not a fan of the pizza but the fries are great. Good for the price no matter what you order. If you get the fries to go, ask for extra ketchup. They put it in the box but 3 packets isn't enough.
Definitely not a 5 Star pizza. We received ours an xlarge half olive special and half deluxe and it arrived undercooked at the bottom. Ingredients were mostly lacking flavor and certainly not abundant. After reading so many favorable reviews we thought Celestino would be a good choice. Expensively average and not as amazing as proclaimed, but edible at least. 3.5 Stars.
From the outside it looks very quaint, once inside it looks of an outdated pizza parlor. The gal whom took my order seemed lost in thought someplace else. I had the Chicken Parmesan sandwich and asked for ricotta cheese to be added into the sandwich. She asked the guy next to her and he said yes as an up charge. I proceeded with the rest of my order and then paid a fair price. Upon hearing my name called I went to pickup the food ordered, the table I choose to sit at was broken and almost lost my food from the table diving to one side. I Instead sat in the table next to that one. The first bite, initially was flavorful until I felt like I was chewing on a very dry "lack of sauce" sandwich. I'd went back to the counter and asked for an additional side of sauce and it was given without an up charge. All in all I think that it has the potential to be a good staple if given the time, updating, re training of staff and cooks. Again if you're looking for a quick fairly priced place it's an ok place. Definitely not a date night or festivities kind of environment. I gave it a 3 star rating.
The pizza is pretty good though it's on the pricey side. One evening we went there and dined inside while Frank Sinatra was playing. We really enjoyed that and it gave us a New York pizzeria vibe, however each time we visited since the television was playing something and it wasn't as enjoyable. Personally, if they put music on rather than the TV it would be 5 stars for me.
Update: since then I have received nothing but the best customer service. We don’t order the ranch anymore. Great pizza, got to try the pepperoni special, it’s delicious. The garlic knots are great, cannolis are a must have. That being said, the ranch is watery and expensive and the customer service over the phone is pretty bad at times. Seems to be one lady in particular that’s always having a bad time.
New Yorker here!! Yuuurrrrr!!! These the Best NY style pizza in Chico! But I had to give it 3 stars is cause y’all missing the secret ingredient. That Hudson River water!!!
i’ve been going to deletions for lunch monthly for a couple years now, it’s always been fantastic! great people, great food. but today i go for lunch, and upon meeting a new girl on the register, i am utterly disappointed. she’s extremely unhelpful, very passive while ordering, and seems extremely bored and unenthused regarding her job.
We have never eaten at Celestino's downtown restaurant...always East Ave. This is a lil note of concern, for those who wish to keep Celestino's New York Pizza alive in North Chico..a couple of small items can make a world of difference for customer satisfaction.. for instance...pizza toppings should be all the way to the pizza crust .. not just slap some pepperoni in the middle and call it good! (I have never had a soggy New York Style Pizza..til Celestino's) The Buffalo wings should taste like the flavor you order...not just bbq sauce you can pick up at the local store and what happened to a lil flare of color? The carrots sticks..blue cheese dressing..a sprig of parsley? Let's not forget a couple of slices of bread when you order a full dinner! Do any of these items cost sooo much they can not be added to the dish? The visual aspect is an important part of most people's (to go) orders?! We have enjoyed the food at Celestino's (East Ave) for quite sometime, however, it has taken a serious " I don't give a damn" spin! It would be sad to loose a local eatery due to lack of interest to details! If New York Style Pizza is what you do best, then I suggest you stick to New York Style Pizza, and delete the rest of the menu! Coming from one restaurant owner to another...with luv.
The pizza is good and it is close to campus, though the prices are steep. The cooks seem pretty friendly enough, but the main woman at the cash register is awful. I have been going to this pizza place for years and I am surprised they have kept her so long. I hate to leave a bad review for an entire restaurant based on one person, but she is so unwelcoming and rude that I can't stand going there anymore. Management, please do something about her.
If any Chico State students plan on eating here, consider choosing another spot. Their pizza is not worth the money; Costco pizza is better💀.
First thing first, the pizza is good. The price is a little on the high side for a slice of pizza, but overall I was OK with the value. Now.... To the service.... When employees talk to each other after the customer points out their mistakes, stating that customers are always ordering wrong... That's a big no no! How hard is this order..." One Jalapeno, one pepperoni and one all meat."? They proceeded to give us a Hawaiian and a pepperoni. Then they talked amongst themselves about how they got the order right and I didn't order it right...?
I recently dined at Celestino's NY Pizza with my girlfriend for dinner on May 28, 2023, and unfortunately, our experience with the spaghetti and meatballs left much to be desired. Both of us ordered the spaghetti with meatballs, and I must say I was quite disappointed with the dish. The presentation was underwhelming, as the meal was served in a disposable container. The lackluster appearance of the dish seemed to match the overall quality of the meal itself. The spaghetti with meatballs failed to meet my expectations. The flavors were mediocre, and the dish lacked the depth and richness that one would hope for in a classic Italian pasta. I found the meatballs to be bland, and the spaghetti itself was lacking the desired flavor. I do regret not ordering their renowned pizza, as it seems to be their specialty and what they are known for. Perhaps opting for their pizza would have resulted in a more satisfying meal. It is worth noting that the disappointment with the spaghetti does not necessarily reflect the quality of their pizza offerings, which may be worth exploring. The service at Celestino's NY Pizza was average. The staff was polite, but there was nothing particularly exceptional or memorable about the service experience. In conclusion, my dining experience at Celestino's NY Pizza left me wanting for more. The spaghetti with meatballs fell short in terms of flavor, texture, and presentation. I do regret not trying their pizza, as it is their reputed specialty. If you choose to dine at Celestino's NY Pizza, I would recommend exploring their pizza offerings rather than opting for their spaghetti.
not terrible but far from excellent, feels low quality like they just went with the cheapest ingredients sysco offered. something is also off with the soda machine taste wise
We have been long time customers of Celestinos pizza. From Paradise and now in Chico. Our last delivery was a mess they forgot our salad and when we called to order again and explained we never recieved our salad last time the girl taking the order would not give us a free salad, she was rude and made us feel like we were trying to get something for nothing. Im not sure what has happened to this company but I dont think we will order ever again... Too bad because we have loved this pizza for the last 10 plus years.
ordered only twice a year apart from each other. didn’t get my pizza the first time and it came four hours old, cold and stale the second time. don’t care what your excuses are, I haven’t received a sincere apology for you ruining my family’s night multiple times. I will not ever recommend anyone to eat your snobby and overpriced pizza because the one time I did eat it it was four hours old.
I was in Chico visiting for training. I did a Google search to find a local pizza place by the slice. Celestino’s New York Pizza came up and had an excellent review. I decided to go there to have a quick slice of pizza. To my dismay when I arrive there, I saw a hand scribbled note taped to a pole stating that you had to go to a window to order. I approached the window. Nobody was even standing at the register. I observed a female and several males working behind the counter and talking to each other in the back of the restaurant. There were no other customers. After some time, the female finally approached the counter to take my order. I asked about their calzones and what was in them since I don’t order them very often. She rolled her eyes and with an attitude explained that the calzones only came in one size large and that were $8.99, then giving me an assortment of different types of combinations I can get in a calzone including one that I could add up five of my own ingredients. She came off as perturbed that she had to explain what was in a Calzone and seemed in a hurry. So, to make life easy I ordered a slice of sausage pizza and a bottled water. In the meantime, while waiting in the heat, I observed a small family order a pizza and some water. The family then walked to their car to sit in it with the mother stating that it was too hot to stand outside and wait for their order. The female who I was dealing with the above and who had taken the order of the family then appeared out a side door and yelled several waters, placing several plastic cups and straws onto a dirty table outside the restaurant. She looked around and walked back in the restaurant and out of view before anybody picked them up. Another gentleman had approached to order a slice of pepperoni pizza. She took his order immediately and within less than 30 seconds appeared out the side door yelling a slice of pepperoni pizza placing the piece of pizza and uncovered paper plate on the same dirty table outside the restaurant; before walking back into the restaurant and out of view. I approached the window again to find out about my order. Again, I had to wait some time before same female approached the window. With the same attitude, she stated sometimes it takes time. I told her I just saw several people order and get their food in a very fast time. Again, she rolled her eyes and said, it takes time for some types of pizza. At is point I was so disgusted that I told her to throw the piece of pizza in the garbage and I would go someplace else. Before I left, I again saw her exit out the side door put a box of pizza and, brown paper bag on the same dirty table on the side of the restaurant table announcing that pizza was ready. She then walked back into the side door before anybody picked up the upped the order. This type of service does not seem very sanitary. In addition, if you have a family and kids, this may not be a good place to eat. There is no seating or shade near the window in which you order food. I found it very hot and uncomfortable while I am waiting for the food in which I never received. This would’ve been a much better experience without the female server’s attitude. She could’ve taken the time to explain that it may take several minutes to cook the type of slice of pizza that I wanted. On another note, don’t order the bottled water unless you want Aqua Fina. In addition, who wants to receive their food on a dirty table outside the restaurant. As I drove away, I saw the female and another male worker standing outside the restaurant. They looked at me and then began to laugh. Maybe this place works for the University of California Chico students in which the University is across the street. But, for other individuals and families this place did live up to the to the google reviews.
This place has dramatically raised their prices and has lowered their quality in service and the pizzas taste. I ordered pizza, and while waiting saw them give a lady cheese for her pizza then when I asked for some they refused to give me any. I've been a long term customer and now I refuse to ever come back. Good job loosing a customer.
Do not order for delivery from the downtown location. We ordered and paid for food through their website and it took over 2 hours to get our food. After an hour and 20 minutes I called and was told that I should be there any minute only to receive that another 45 plus minutes later....... All in all I could a walk and gotten my pizza faster than they brought it
DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY. I'm a Chico local, and I have always loved this place. Last week I had the crappiest experience with Celestino's. Delivery took 2 hours to get our pizza, it was cold, and the ranch was warm. I ordered a diet coke, which wasn't given to us (they were out) and I called them to make sure I wasn't charged for the $4 soda. 4 days later, look at my bank account, and they charged me. And now they are telling me I have to go in during the week to get my money back. I WILL NOT be going back there. Several places in Chico are far better.
I didn't like their pizza and their service. Even the inside environment was soo nasty. I don't like this place. Will never ever come back.
Too much tomatoe paste taste on pizza. Crust really chewy:( French fries & wings, way too salty! Big disappointment 😞
Last night I door dashed 2 slices and oscar, and plane cheese the cheese pizza looked hella old and the Oscar pizza looked like it was a pepperoni and they just threw on pineapples extra cheese plus jalapeños and I've been there before and its always good I don't understand what happened but it was a waste of money
