For our 35th wedding anniversary, my husband and I decided to go to Christian Michaels for our very first time. It was such a lovely evening and wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere was wonderful, the service was so attentive and best of all the food was outstanding! Although I reserved a table on line, I believe the restaurant manager was kind enough to make sure we were very happy with our table. Our waiter Ronnie was also so pleasant and presented wonderful recommendations for our meal, as well as drinks. We started with house salads and crab cakes, oh my goodness...delicious! I had a Chilean sea bass, mashed potatoes with veggies and my hubby had the same but with a steak fillet. Both entrees were absolutely fantastic, kudos to our chef ! And who doesn't like cheesecake, but coconut and a caramel walnut, awesome deserts! Thank you so much for making our little celebration all the more special and memorable. we came into the bar around 8:45 on Friday night and they had their happy hour specials going for drinks and bar food I think starting around 9:00. Excellent bar food and discounts on the drinks how can you go wrong? The pork shank is fantastic and the all he is really good although a small portion but that's a small plate offering. The most amazing thing we always get is the charred romaine salad.... Delicious!

We had our wedding rehearsal of twenty people here and it worked out great! Service was excellent both the night of and while settling up the plans. Food was delicious and the drinks were great. We were able to rent out a small back private room which kept it intimate. There are two set menus to choose from before the night but both have a good amount of options. Salad, a main, and dessert are included. You won't leave hungry! There is a charge of $10 per person minimum for drinks that must be met as well. Great place for just a normal drinner date out as well!

I would say this is one of the more upscale dining experiences in downtown Chico. Food is really good, especially their bacon wrapped meatloaf dish. The atmosphere is also great for those that are out on a date. It is a little pricy, but it's to be expected at this type of establishment. They also have a full bar and a great wine selection. My wife and I often go here for our date night, and have never been let down. Service is also really good and they have knowledgable staff.

So many places these days fall into the casual dining arena, with TVs on the walls and a hectic pace throughout the restaurant. Christian Michaels is a pleasant return to a fine dining experience. While there are times I want the sports bar experience, there are also times I want a nice dinner, white table cloths, and a quiet enough surrounding that I can visit with my dining partners. I highly recommend it for that special occasion, or when you want to unplug and spend some quality time visiting. And yes -- my favorite dish is the meatloaf. There are several great items on the menu, but none better than the meatloaf.

Food was spectacular. Drinks were great. Service was fine. It's a very nice restaurant. We got dressed up which was fun but it didn't seem required. The atmosphere is great. It's expensive, but I didn't feel cheated. Really great dinner.

I love this place! The food is amazing, service never disappoints, drinks come before empty, you can make a reservation, parking is easy, and the atmosphere is gorgeous. If you haven't tried this hidden gem you're missing out!

Great place to go if you want guaranteed good service and food. Perfect place to bring a first date, it’s more of a quiet spot. The meatloaf is probably the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant, to be honest I’ve never had a bad meal here. If you have room get some dessert they always have something yummy.

Always a good experience. Food is good and the service is great. The cocktails are unique, but definately well thought out and worth a second drink. Not your off the shelf drinks and not the college crowd. The best mixologists in Chico are at Christian Michaels. Stop reading, and go visit

My favorite Sunday brunch place. If you haven't been, I strongly recommend the eggs Benedict or the Caesar salad. Service is always top notch as well. Great for a brunch with friends, or a date night.

Great service, very upscale appearance especially the dining area and for the quality of the food, which is amazing! the price is very reasonable, took my mom and girlfriend there and got salad, an entree and dessert for 3 people for just over $100.00

Can be overpriced depending on what you order. I love going for happy hour. Just had a tostada, a small salad, and 2 glasses of wine for $30 with tip. Not to bad for a night out!

Good quality food with served with excellence. The wait staff and chef went above and beyond expectations to create a wonderful evening. Overall a refreshing dining experience!

Maybe C.M has changed their staff and the reviewers on here have not given it a second chance because my service has always been impeccable from refilling water to being seated quickly. The younger waiters and waitresses may be new and not experienced at serving in finer restaurants so cut them a break unless you see the staff texting instead of bringing you water. As for the food, the salmon and steak are perfect! The salmon includes seasonal cherry tomatoes and the flavor is just right. You cant go wrong with the jalapeno tomato bisque which has a hint of jalapeno but isnt too spicy. If you go to the restaurant early there are specials: 3 course meals for a more than reasonable price AND it includes dessert. Unfortunately, I have moved away and cant dine here anymore but to sum up my review I am constantly comparing other restaurants in my area to Christian Michael's :)

Best happy hour ever! I mainly come here for their lemon drops and calamari, but their dinner is great as well. Always friendly service.

Thoughtful and accommodating service paired with excellent food and drink options. Start with the tomato jalapeño soup and enjoy fresh pasta dishes or the bacon wrapped meatloaf medallions over mashed potatoes.

As a bartender myself, I can say that the bartenders Vincent and Liz are truly professionals and I enjoyed my time I spent with them. There are few places in Chico where you can get a good cocktail.

They have a super nice selection of wines during their happy hour and a cozy lounge to enjoy them in. The atmosphere is classy, yet casual.

Dinner and drinks were great! The soup was a little bit bland and the price was kinda steep but it was otherwise very delicious!

This Is Ice Cream or sorbet. It is very good. Resanable price. The taste is very fresh and alot of very different flavors. This would be a good treat.

I have been here quite a bit. They have a sit down fancy restaurant perfect for a date. They also have a bar which also serves food. I like their bar menu because the portion size is perfect and you get to sample their menu without committing to the full menu price. The service is hit or miss, and when they miss I tell myself I will never come to this senior citizen restaurant/bar again! But you really can't beat the burger, the meatloaf, and ribs so I usually come back.

Cesar salad was great with salmon on top. Loved the atmosphere and everything was pretty good. I just wish they were more on top of their water and champagne refills. Wait staff was very friendly, though they seemed a bit short staffed.

I had the bacon-wrapped meatloaf ("smalls") which is a small portion, oven-baked dish with mashed potato and a leafy green veg: DELISH! and just the right portion for a late supper item. Book-ended with a pair of the "Hemingway" cocktail, it made for a very pleasant evening on my own in a regular town. Service was a bit slow only because it seemed like they should have had another server on staff (but I'm finding this is common wherever I happen to be on travel these days). I definitely recommend Christian Michaels, your experience may vary. Cheers

They wouldn't calculate split bills for our party of nine. They didn't remind us that the gratuity was included. They forgot to bring someone's dessert. They didn't acknowledge a birthday. But the food is always great.

It is classy food but the service was sub par for the price and I could have made what we ordered at home if I had the ingredients. Not bad for a date night but not a regular stop for sure.

We loved it ! Everyone was great ... helpfil... smiley.. Comfortable atmosphere yet cozy. We all enjoyed our meals and the selection of wine. Thank you.

Our waitress thought putting our order in late so we had time to visit would be a good idea. We waited almost 2 hours and that was her response. Ok food awesome happy hour stuff.

Menu and other reviews were good so thought we'd check it out. Came in on a quiet night and were seated but then no one came afterward. We waited like 25 minutes and then left :(

Wasn't a busy night and was served a pork chop instead of a porterhouse steak, both my girlfriend and I were treated like second class who didn't deserve a fine dining experience. Drinks came after our food (which wasnt what I ordered). If you're visiting from out of town I would recommend Crush or 5th Street steakhouse.
