Tacos Tonaya #2

Great little spot to grab American food. They serve excellent tacos/burritos and even cheese burgers! I'm not vegetarian but I usually get a couple of their vegetarian tacos with whatever I'm eating because they are tasty!

Love love their big burritos! Late hours are very appreciated. Staff is always friendly & fast.

Great service, check. Large menu, check. Quality value, check. And hands down the best California burrito in Chico, would highly recommend getting it with bacon AND nacho cheese.

Got a Cali Burrito and was too drunk to wait for it. Came back the next day and they gave me another one for free. Place is more than awesome and their Cali burritos are super fire.

Good homestyle mexican food. I could eat here everyday and never get tired of it. California burrito has excellent flavor and texture. Tonaya also offers exotic meats like lengua.

Literally sooo good! My husband and I went here for the first time and we will definitely be coming back. They were super busy and yet were still so sweet and got us the foods so quickly! The quesabirras are to die for🤤

We came here for the quesa Burris tacos....and they were fantastic!!! They exceeded our expectations!! The Burris juice for cool in was full of flavor beef and bone broth and chunks of onions etc! Absolutely Yummmm!!!! We will be back as soon as they return from vacation!!!!

Delicious! My first time at Tacos Tonaya was many years ago when I was a freshman at Chico State. I remember going with my roommate and new friends and we ordered food to go and I remember the first thing I ever ordered were nachos (super yummy!). The following years, during my time as an undergrad, I continued to order Tacos Tonaya. I went so often that I became a regular and formed a friendship with the owners, specially the mom. My regular order became a vegetarian burrito and an horchata. Every time i walked in, she would see me and tell me to wait for my order to be prepared and then charge me before I left. My last meal after graduating from Chico State and before returning home was Tacos Tonaya and it was truly my hardest goodbye. I have visited Chico a couple of times since but Tacos Tonaya was unfortunately closed and could not order. I finally went again this past October, after years, and everything felt so familiar. The burrito was just as delicious and the horchata just as tasty and refreshing. I am so proud of the family for expanding their restaurant space and I continue to wish them the absolute best. I truly think about this place almost daily and can't wait to go back.

My wife had a late craving and we decided to try this place since they are open late. Glad to have discovered it. Chico has so much good food that many good food places can easily be missed. Everything we had was good, but the Carnitas Chimichanga was hands down the best I've had from any truck or restaurant in a long while. I'll be going back just for that, for sure.

This is the 2nd time we got food from here and both times it has been awesome. The chimichangas were fried perfectly. The rice was fluffy. I don't get salsa or cilantro and they got my orders perfect also. My son likes spicy and they did it exactly how he asked. The ladies always have a smile and are very polite. I couldn't remember an ingredient and the were very patient. We are definitely going back. Thank you for the awesome food.

They are like family, they have always been amazing hosts to all of their customers and the food is delicious. Their street tacos are some.of the best in chico and they have a variety on their menu that most others don't have. They catered our wedding and did a fantastic job and I have also partnered with them to do business together with my business and have valued that partnership for years. Definitely must try.

Supreme pastor burritos are the best. Ask for extra spicy if you like it hot. Her spicy sauce is really hot and really good.

Pretty good selection if mexican food...Ive only eaten the taco plate and the nachos here and they were amazing the first time....id give 5 stars but last time the meat was old and not so tasty....will go again and try some other items!!! Nice staff and great watermelon juice!!! Refreshing on a hit day for sure!!!

It was dead when we were there, so the service was prompt. I had a pastor chimichanga and it was pretty tasty. Got nothing bad to say except screw the no public restroom sign.

Yummy food for a quick bite to eat!! I prefer to grab and go but they have indoor dining as well. Casual atmosphere lots of good food options and combinations!

Its been 6 months since COVID started, if you have changed your timings for it, UPDATE IT ON GOOGLE! It says open till 2 AM but its already closed at 12 AM, and you have to go home and cook because everything else is closed. It's happened 3 times now..just update the timings on Google and stay consistent. How hard is that???? Giving 3 stars because I don't want to damage your score too much, but this is not right.

Cash Only. They have an ATM inside with a fee. I get it, you want to pay less in taxes or something but cash only is super inconvenient and pushes additional costs to the customers. The food is good. I took off 2 stars for the Cash only inconvenience.

Good food. Very slow service. Maybe on off night. But my message to.the owners. NEVER microwave food in a Styrofoam container. Known cancer cause.

We chose Tacos Tonya #2 because of its great reviews claiming the best birria in Chico. We ordered the tacos and some taquito's to share. It was 100° outside and in the restaurant it was likely around 90° there were 3 customers ahead of us and it took roughly 30 minutes to get our food. As you can see in the first pics, everything looked decent, however the first bite proved otherwise. There was no discernable flavor! I tried the consome..... no flavor - taquitos, you guessed it - no flavor. It turned out the most flavorful thing on the table was the radish. We left disappointed and drove over to Mi Jalisco and got some decent tacos. Maybe it was an off day, but I won't likely be back.

First of all, 40 minutes for a chimichanga when barely anybody is in the building? 2nd, $17?!! Seems a tad bit up there..... And, 3rd, you're literally microwaving my chimichanga?..... IN STYROFOAM?!!! Yeah no thanks .... I know some people don't care about using microwaves (I do. It should be pretty simple to use a quick little oven) but for the love of God Tacos Tonaya, if you're reading this, is it too much to ask for using a glass or porcelain dish so it doesn't leach literal poison from the styrofoam into people's food? C'mon ...

Unorganized: number was called but food wasn't ready. People who ordered after us got their food well before us. Had to re-ask about our food and it was sent to the microwave. Food wasn't hot. And no accommodation. Expect mass broskis.

Absolutely terrible. Every time I go to this place they screw up my order. Every time without fail. I order NO BEANS and always end up with extra beans. How hard is NO BEANS? Not to mention the meat is nothing but chunks of fried fat. Don't waste your money.
