The baristas are great folks, very friendly, and make great conversation no matter whomever walks in road of life. The coffee is usually spot on, and cheaper than Starbucks for the same quality (that isn't corporatized sugar bombed like McDonald's items all are), if you don't have a card on you but your smart phone with Google pay - no problem. Their equipment is modernized to account for chip (plug in as wireless/tap to pay), credit and debit, as well as straight up cash. Plus I usually stop by on the weekdays since their Cafe isn't as busy or crowded, whereas on the weekend the line can and most often does get pretty long and all the way to the street from inside the store. Still a local and beloved stop for anyone visiting Chico, attending college, or like myself local.
Staple downtown coffee shop with all the basics for your caffeine needs. Good virus protocol and plenty of outdoor seating extended into the street. Always awesome at up on the walls that is usually for sale. They had had live music in the evenings before the pandemic and they were well attended. I usually get a mocha of some sort and it's always tasty and pretty with some foam design. Get Naked today!
Great place, great coffee. I do t get to go out early for coffee in Chico due to work so i kinda wish they were opened a bit later but i understand for business reasons. But highly recommend going. Great people and atmosphere.
A great place for coffee and local music. Seating is limited during peak hours but you can usually find a place to sit and study if you stick around for a bit. They have a small but quality beer rotation and a large selection of non-alcoholic beverages. There is always interesting art on the walls as well!
One of my top three favorite coffeeshops in Chico! Delicious drinks and fun atmosphere, especially on weekends. Great place for meeting friends or having a coffee date.
This is one of my favorite coffee shops. Drinking a hot caramel latte in the rain and the window seat is my absolute favorite thing! Really great Baristas, amazing service, quality coffee. A great view, Wi-Fi, really good friends. Also, have you bought their stickers? Support a good local coffee shop. This is a really great place. Thanks!!!
Great local coffee shop in the Downtown Chico area. I enjoy when they play music such as Minus the Bear, Jurassic 5, and Broken Social Scene. It is a great environment to do homework, especially group work! The peppermint mocha is worth a try as well around the holiday season. One thing I see as a downfall is how quickly the seats will be taken, make sure to show up around a good time!
Naked Lounge is a favorite downtown coffee shop. I love the cool vibe and the art installations. More importantly, they make great coffee!
A great local coffee shop with a chill vibe. Very hipster/college, and perfect for spending a few hours reading or doing homework, or just catching up with friends. Besides general coffee offerings, they also have kombucha (fermented fizzy tea) on tap in a variety of flavors, which is fun. There are a variety of chairs and couches, plus tons of art work on the walls. In the back, there's a small gallery space where you can also sit and relax. A solid alternative to mainstream, corporate chains. Support local businesses!
great vibe, sweet service My friend and I went in today for the first time since COVID. NL got a face lift, and it works. The exposed brick, art on the walls, and new furniture fits the space and sets the tone well. The best part of our experience was our barista, Jade. They were so attentive, patient, and all around lovely. Their mood was so good. Customer service can be rough, but Jade has such an amazing spirit and personality that I left in a better mood simply because I was around Jade. What a refreshing experience. And our matcha and London Fogs were delicious. We only left because our meter ran out and we were out of coins. Thanks for being you, Jade. NL is lucky to have Jade and is nailing the vibe.
Great spot to get coffee the best in town and they do lots of live music.
A great local coffee shop where they take care of their customers. I just love the way they hand craft each drink and make them look very decorative while providing much needed caffeine. Much nicer than the chain shops in town.
A wonderful espresso, created with care. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is enjoyable. I would like to try more drinks here to truly test the baristas, but thus far I have every reason to believe they’d do quite well.
Mostly just a coffee place. Have some select baked goods, oatmeal and teas. There was only one barista working that we could see, but the place wasn’t too busy, and she still took her time with every order. I got a vanilla latte, which was made exactly how I like it somehow. Peppermint mocha was bitter, but good if you’re looking for a Starbucks replacement right now. Atmosphere was great: very quiet, but lively. There are lots of couches, tables, and single comfy chairs. Really a great vibe for studying or quiet group convos.
I believe this place came under new management a couple years ago. Since then, the layout has changed, they are more active in the music scene, and the atmosphere has become more accessible. It used to be a stuffy hipster joint where I always felt awkward. Now, it feels like the kind of place where anyone can hang out. The coffee is good. They have a great stage for live shows--many of which are all-ages. At night, they serve beer and wine.
Nice ambiance and friendly staff. We tried their espresso and black peach ice tea. Both very good! Definitely be back if we pass Chico again. My suggestion would be to change the art frames on the walls and play some better music.
I have been coming to this shop since it opened about 20 years ago. Despite changes in ownership, the coffee is always excellent. The staff are consistently warm, knowledgeable, and friendly. Local art works hang on the walls. The Lounge has a college-vibe, but people of all ages come to hang out, study, work, play, and enjoy a true community setting. The building has to be 100 years old and is a bit rustic--you won't confuse it with a sparkling new Starbucks. The music selections are sort of all over the map because the baristas all have their favorite genres, so maybe bring headphones and your own music.
Their house coffee is so good. The environment and ambiance is always delightful. I love seeing the ever-changing art on the walls. They know how to keep the place from getting stale. The Bowl of Soul is my absolute favorite thing on their menu.
Totally love the Naked Lounge. Only issue, when I get a, "hot", coffee, it's served, "barely warm"! A pet peeve of mine. But, it's Chico's absolute best coffee shop!! I like to enjoy sipping my coffee, serving it barely warm sadly really messes up the coffee experience. I usually ask to have my hot coffee to be heated. If I forget the coffee cup takes on an attitude of they're too busy to care.
A very simple, cute cafe in downtown. The menu isn’t gigantic like a chain, but they do coffee right by keeping it clean. The staff were extra nice too. We enjoyed sitting in on the comfy chairs, sipping our coffee, and people watching.
This could be simply the best coffee shop l have been to. It is about coffee, but laid back. This isn't someplace to be seen, but experienced. Eclectic and relaxed. Mix of students, professionals and townies. Clean bathroom, free WiFi. Lots of outlets. A stage that has shows of various kinds on weekends.
Love this place so much. My favorite place to go and relax with a kombucha or a delicious coffee. The atmosphere is just amazing and super friendly staff. They also have a grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwich haha.
Cute place with great coffee. Oftentimes these kinds of coffee shops emphasize vibe over actual product, but not here. Very chill, pleasant employees and excellent coffee!
One of my favorite stops here in Downtown Chico! I love to come in here and admire their display art. The workers are very down to earth and their coffee + pastry-selections are the absolute best. Highly recommend their matcha lattes, cold brew, and chai tea lattes. A very good place to stop and buy a cup of coffee with some friends.
The best mocha I’ve ever had, hand crafted by the one and only Myah. Rose mocha with breve, absolutely delicious. Thank you Myah!!! ❤️
It's one of the few authentic atmospheres for the connoisseur of the modern hipster genre. There's actually naked art on the walls fairly often, if you like naked art. I do get quite sleepy every time I come in here, much to the detriment of my reading plans. But the coffee is tasty and the hot chocolate...well, let's just say this is the best place to get hot chocolate in Chico. The wood flooring, antique furniture, low lighting, and friendly staff make it a fun experience.
The espresso mojito was the smoothest, most delicious sip of coffee I can remember ever gracing my tongue. I'm in love. 😍 The homemade tomato soup is an amazing counterpart.
Relaxed environment with a welcoming ambience. Great coffee and tea as well as live music!

OMG BEST LAVENDER LATTE IVE EVER HAD!! They must use real lavender because the flavor was so fresh! I don’t live in Chico, but I wish I did solely for this coffee.
One of my go to coffee spots in Chico. Solid coffee and pastries. Service is usually pretty good as well. I would highly recommend checking this place out!
A friend's band was playing. They kicked butt. I also had the privilege to sing a song with Start The Count Down. The audience was awesome. I can't believe more people weren't there. Ten dollars for top rate musicians is a steel. I guess people don't want to enjoy great music anymore. WOW

A little pricey for coffee on a young adult's budget considering their latte only comes standard with 2 shots of espresso, but I come anyways because the quality is unbeatable! Their syrups are homemade, and they have unique coffee drinks you won't find anywhere in town, as well as kombucha on tap and nitro cold brea. The lounge area is great for studying and meeting friends, and the atmosphere is lovely. The staff are great and very informative.
Killer atmosphere and a great supporter of local music. Staff is friendly, WiFi is available, and they have some unique drinks. Very causal and relaxing atmosphere. You might stick out though if you're not between the ages of 20-24 or look borderline homeless; typical coffeehouse regulars. The sitting is limited to like 80% thirty year-old couches however, so can be a bit difficult to find a good space when it's busier. The coffee is good as well. Highly recommend checking it out. Honorary 5th star just for the Cuphead art out front. Legendary.
Good but not as good as they used to be. Coffee is pretty tasty but they no longer make some of my favorites like hazelnut coffee (haze craze). Likely this is due to change in ownership and the impact of covid. Overall, if you are in the Madison bear part of town, this is the best coffee spot...only second best to the amazing Brave coffee (assuming you're willing to drive there).
Great place to drink a cup of coffee. Just recently switched owners and the new owner doesn't want dogs inside the coffee shop "after buying". Rather rude considering the temperature in this area goes as high as 120°f and can be dangerous to not just humans but our animals as well.
It's always been a relaxing environment and great place to meet friends. Great Baristas and quality espresso drinks. The owner is a very personable and sweet, she seems like she genuinely cares about her staff and patrons as well.
Cute simple spot in downtown! Was a little too warm so made it hard to enjoy my coffee, so that’s why I give it a four. Love that homemade syrups are an option here!
Pretty good shit. What can I say. I think it's a good place to chill and drink coffee. I haven't been to any of the live concerts because I just come for coffee, but I imagine its nice then too.
Never been here before, I didn't get coffee but the oolong tea was very good. (get it with caramel and oat milk) The barista looked overworked, was curt to me and didn't speak more than necessary, seemed really unhappy but that's whatever. Very chill inside, hipster place. Hope sometime to see a show here.

Small local coffee shop, doesn't look like the cleanest place especially with worn furniture and some old couches for seating. Coffee seemed decent with decent options. Definitely a hipster and hippie type vibe from the employees to the clientele.
I enjoyed the coffee and the downtown location. However, the blonde employee who served me today was rude. She was snippy in her response when I asked a question. I don’t expect a coffee shop employee to be over the top friendly, but I would expect them to not be downright rude. Bummed… won’t be back.
Great atmosphere but $4.50 for a drip coffee is a bit much.

I used to love this place but ever since they started closing early I haven't been going at all really. I'd go more often if they stayed open til 11 again cuz it really helps me get my homework done to have somewhere else besides my very distracting house to do it. The coffee is good, but the tea is better. The food is good too. I also miss the punk shows.
This place used to be good but every time I go I get more and more dissatisfied. Is dusty, dirty and it stinks (literally). I couldn’t even stay to finish my coffee because the smell is so strong, and flies everywhere.
I have never had a good experience here. Over the past three years I've been in, and as the owners have changed around a few times in that period, I feel the quality and customer service has gotten worse. Just one experience: I ordered a vanilla latte and they put condensed milk in it (by mistake I'm assuming because the next time I came in and asked if they put that in there and she rudely answered me that "no, we wouldn't do that" - well, you did) and when I went to correct the drink it took forever to get their attention at the bar and the Batista straight up gave me the stink eye when the girl running the register told him near the back to remake my drink. Not okay! The customers hear and see FAR more than you think, guys! They also recently painted over the amazing mural of John Bidwell to allow a rotation of artists to come in and paint on the walls. That was my last straw because it was so charming and brought in a Chico feel. The facade doesn't blend in well with downtown anymore and the business does not have that "Chico charm" - warm and welcoming atmosphere with good customer service. They act so snooty to me every time I'm in there yet they've never given me a good enough cup of coffee for me to justify their behavior. Ugh- sorry. This is long and vent-like but I've been avoiding reviewing them for so long because I really wanted to leave a good review the past few years and I've been so disappointed by them because they're supposed to be the artisan/hipster place in town, and they really just aren't.
I appreciated visiting this establishment for drinks during lunch. After receiving my receipt via email, I reached out online to inquire about the inconsistent pricing for the same drink on previous occasions. The manager promptly responded, acknowledging the error and thanking me for bringing it to their attention, which would help ensure the staff is on the same page with prices in the future. However, during my visit this afternoon, I encountered unprofessional behavior from a staff member with curly blondish-brown hair, who was notably rude and even turned her back on me. Another employee with a reddish-brown mullet hairstyle also displayed a lack of courtesy. As they did not wait on me, I chose to leave without being served. My question regarding the pricing discrepancies was posed respectfully, and I believe it was a fair question. Feedback is an opportunity for growth, not to be perceived as an attack. Unfortunately, rather than viewing my feedback as constructive, the staff seemed to take it personally, which is counterproductive. Had I not been treated like that, I wouldn’t have left the review. On April 12, 2025, I decided to visit the Naked Lounge after some time, as I was in the downtown area. Upon entering, I greeted the staff, but I was met with a disapproving look from a staff member with notably curly blondish-brown hair. As I placed my order, she began to express her frustration to another employee about how I left a negative review about the establishment. Meanwhile, the employee with the orangish-red hair and nose ring, appeared visibly uncomfortable as I acknowledged the curly-haired girl's remarks. Despite the latter's focus on venting her grievances, the girl with the orangish-red hair attempted to guide her colleague on how to prepare my drink. The curly-haired girl then claimed that I had made the staff uncomfortable prior to my review, yet it was evident that her behavior was the source of discomfort. I found it perplexing that she could assert I had caused unease when she and another staff member had their backs turned to me, refusing to wait on me, prompting my departure. Ultimately, she stated that she would prefer I not return, concluding with a disingenuous wish for my day to go well. In response, I remarked that I hoped she would learn to grow up. Having worked in customer service for several years before graduating from college, I firmly believe that the customer is always right. I stand by my decision to voice my concerns in the past, particularly regarding inconsistent pricing for the same beverage. If a simple inquiry about prices can provoke such a strong reaction and lead to passive-aggressive behavior, I genuinely feel sympathy for her. Life is too fleeting to be consumed by anger over constructive feedback; such an attitude risks missing out on valuable experiences. I can only imagine how she would react if someone pointed out an error in their drink preparation. It seems this is how she and a few others handle customer interactions when mistakes are highlighted. I sincerely wish them the best in finding happiness.
Tonight was supposed to be a really good night out with my son and his wife. We were going to the naked lounge to see my other sons band performance. As we went to enter, we were stopped by a young girl who was at the door taking money for the show stated to my son he was not aloud into the building because of a make American great again hat. She stated that the hat was offensive and there were queers present that might get offended by his hat, and this was a safe place for those individuals. At this point my son became offened and irritated that he was being asked to remove his hat, which he would of done if the girl at the entrance didn't approach my son in this manner and assume he was there to cause problems we had no idea this establishment was a gay lounge we were just there to see my son perform in his concert, due to this mishap we did not get to him perform. I will never ever return to this establishment or recommend this place to my straight or political or gay friends. Night ruined 😪
I had a really disappointing experience here. As a first-time customer, I was trying to read the menu when the worker abruptly asked what I wanted. There was no one behind me, so I didn’t appreciate feeling rushed. When I ordered, the way she spoke to me came off as condescending, as if I were clueless. Before I could even look at anything else, she cut me off, told me the total, and turned the payment machine around in a way that made me feel like I was inconveniencing her. I left feeling completely disrespected. To top it off, the coffee itself was awful—sour, overfilled with ice, and barely drinkable. I won’t be coming back.
I ordered a Girbraltar spent $5.50 with tip. I asked for a coffee refill in the small glass cup which they gave me. I asked for another refill and she said that I need to pay for a small coffee. So I did. She filled up my small glass cup with coffee. I asked if I could just have a full cup of coffee and she refused stating that the refills added up to 8 ounces. Incredibly petty.
