I love vanilla fish! It’s been consistent every time I go ! The Ichiban Roll was something new I tried and it did not disappoint! Definitely something new to try!
Excellent service, food, ambience. Food was very tasty. We ordered Salmon teriyaki and Chicken cutlet curry. Both of them were awesome. Chicken was perfect fried same for salmon, curry was awesome. This me being Indian, telling curry was tasty , it means something 🙂 Besides all these it was cheap too.
First time customer. Went to eat here on the suggestion of our son's baseball coach. He gave it rave reviews and said we wouldn't be disappointed. Boy, was he right! Loved it. Small but quaint hole-in-the-wall. And like most hole-in-the-wall, it's da'bomb!!! Service was very attentive! Servers were very knowledgeable and gave great suggestions. Happy Hour starting at 8:30pm! Sushi was so 😋 fresh, melt in your mouth yummy, beautifully made and price was lower than other sushi places. Vanilla Fish is now our go-to sushi place.
Excellent Service. Food was good. Staffs were attentive and kind. My kids liked the food as well. Great neighborhood Japanese place. I will come and visit again
We have been going to this place since it first opened. Took my girlfriend here for our first date 6 years ago and it still lives up to their reputation. Always visit this place when we come back to southern California and we love it!! Get the Butterfield roll yiu can't go wrong and all the sashimi and fish is so fresh!
Fantastic. Great atmosphere, more contemporary than most traditional sushi joints, but amazing. Get there early as it fills up quick. Excellent thick cut sushi and sashimi. Fast service and fair prices for what your get.
This place came recommended to us by a server @ Roscoe's in Chino Hills. The service was wonderful and the food amazing!! We will definitely return and let our friends and family know about Vanilla Fish :)
First time eating here and we will definitely be back. It is a small place and seems to get packed pretty fast so we did have about an hour wait. They have this online waiting update which is really cool so you know what place you are in line. The food was delicious, service was great and they have a large selection to choose from. It was worth the wait. Loved the albacado ball and even the desert was great! Definitely a must try if you are in the area.
Vanilla fish is the best sushi and restaurant ever. Fresh and delicious and original rolls with some traditional too. Shin is amazing food artist and his staff is attentive and helpful. Joe is one of our favorites sushi chef there, he's like family. You got to try this place.
First time having family dinner, not too pricy, sushi and chirachi quality is good, handroll is must-order, and we loved our dessert 😋😍

A hidden gem. The freshest and most delicious sushi and Ramen. They have this down to a T. From the food to their service. 10 out of 10

Incredibly fresh sashimi and delicious sushi. The cut rolls are as inventive as they are tasty. Fast service with attentive staff. Give this restaurant a try, you'll definitely want it in your rotation!
Popular sushi joint. Lots of rolls, both raw and cooked variety. Limited seating, so reservations are recommended. Beer, wine, and sake available. Ample free parking and conveniently located close to the 71 freeway.
Decided to try somewhere new after Tomo 7 seems to have declined some. Finally got over here and tried it out. Ordered 4 rolls and some Iced tea. Rolls were all inventive and different, fish was fresh, nice presentation. Iced teas were a little different (good), maybe jasmine? Service was a little slow as I think they had one person on break, just one server for a busy Sunday. Decor is clean and new but a bit odd, as some places can be. Brick walls on one side, classical light fixtures like you might have at your front door, etc. No matter food was great! Price is a bit higher than we're used to but not out of line for a decent sushi place.
So nice place! Baked salmon roll is one of the best thing. Even I tried crunch spicy tuna roll, it’s not bad(Name is involved “crunch”, but unfortunately there’s no crunch inside of it.. can’t feel crunch or just a bit). If someone like spicy one, recommed it.
Space is not really big but cozy.... If you don't like to wait outside, I suggest that you make reservation 1st. Food is tasty with decent present... Although the price is not really cheap... Still worthy to give it a shot!!
Staying at a hotel nearby and crashed this place for dinner. The decor is more like a contemporary bar than a sushi place. It has a really nice vibe to the place. People were having fun, the game was the TV, and the sushi chefs were slicing fish, rolling sushi, and blowtorching food. The servers were all friendly and helpful. I asked why the name "Vanilla Fish" and was told the owner wanted the place to be approachable and comforting even for those unfamiliar with sushi... Kind of like vanilla ice cream, which just about anyone can enjoy. I had the cold soba with tempura, and albacore sushi. The tempura has a nice light crunchy batter that doesn't leave you feeling greasy. Very well done! The albacore melts in your mouth and the sushi rice is properly prepared. Legit sushi here. Your bill gets a 10% discount if pay by cash. I enjoyed my dinner here very much.

I heard this small Japanese restaurant was very good, so we gave it a try, We came in for dinner and ordered bento boxes with chicken and beef teriyaki and some California rolls, some green tea, and they served a side of miso soup. Well, not the worst but definitely not the best either, with a lot of room for improvement on all categories, the positive note was the teriyaki chicken and beef are very tasty and well prepared, the California rolls tasted okay, but on the down note is the hot tea and the miso soup we're really bland, how can you get green tea wrong?. And the salad dressing to my taste had too much ginger. I may stop by again to give it another shot, or not ...

Tiny soft shell crab, just like a Michelin-starred restaurant. Taste...you know The chefs kept talking loudly to each other and even ate while making sushi. I won’t go there again.
Lazy server called at 1:43 she said last call and seating was at 1:45 I said it’s 1:43 she said it’s 1:45 on her side and didn’t wanna take the order. I’ve had other servers say they are good until right before two. Didn’t catch her name but this was Friday 1/16
