This place is a gem! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels just right. Everything I ordered was INCREDIBLE and the service was exceptional (Antonio was an excellent server!). My favorite hand rolls were the Hamachi and Cangrejo (so good I didn’t have the chance to take pictures). The shrimp tostada was such a nice treat! Couldn’t recommend more.
I love everything about this place. The tostadas, nigiri’s, cocktails, desserts. All the flavors are amazing and the quality of the ingredients is outstanding. Hands down my favorite spot for sushi and more. They also have fun music on weekends! Great vibe.
We had an absolutely amazing experience at this sushi restaurant from start to finish. The food was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every roll was perfectly made, the fish was high quality, and you could really tell the chefs take pride in their craft. From the appetizers to the sushi rolls, everything exceeded our expectations. What truly made the night unforgettable, though, was our server David. David went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. He was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and had the perfect balance of professionalism and warmth. He gave great recommendations, checked in at just the right times, and made us feel genuinely welcomed and valued. Excellent food paired with top-tier service is hard to beat, and this place delivers both. If you’re looking for incredible sushi and a server who truly cares about your experience, ask for David. We’ll definitely be back! 🍣👏
Been to the location in Los Angeles and now here in CDMX. Service matches one another, obviously being in Mexico makes it that much more magical. Our sever last names Reyes was helpful and super sweet. My kid devoured everything and a dirty martini was the perfect addition to our meal.
Walked up around 8pm and was sat quickly- Antonio my server was prompt, efficient and kind in a way that felt like I was dining at a friend’s house instead of a restaurant. I ordered the set of 5 nigiri, the chu toro wagyu nigiri, the hamachi choco and the unagi. Each bite was delightful in their own way, but notables were definitely the chu toro wagyu and the hotate. Typically I have to flag someone down but Antonio had perfect timing to get me settled and out the door. I’m looking forward to my next visit!
I feel like Asian cuisine culture understands the value that food has when it comes to entertainment. Stumbled upon this gem on a first date and it had the perfect ambiance, service and entertainment as we sat at the bar side by side overlooking chefs power torch sushi to expert deliciousness. I enjoyed an excellent martini and veggie maki roll. Let’s just say the whole experience created some first date flames beyond the open kitchen concept. Can’t wait to return for the next act.
Incredible sushi. I sampled nearly all of the nigiri menu and they were just melt in your mouth delicious. The flavors were perfectly balanced- they did a perfect job creating both subtle balance with some while creating beautiful and powerful compliments with others. The hamachi choco was a beautiful statement piece, my other favorites included the buttery salmon, ka-bron, and chu-toro wagyu- although everything I tried was delicious. I got the mesukaro cocktail to pair and enjoy the mezcal and it was incredible with the worm salt rim adding savory smoky balance. I came to enjoy this place twice during my 5 day stay in CDMX- I chose it at my final meal in the city- the best for last, a must-revisit experience. Highly recommend.
This was amazing ! The service was perfect and very attentive. The food was fresh and very flavorful. The handroll with praws was a pure delicacy as well as the scallops and eels. Good selection of natural orange wine !! We loved the music and the vibe. Thank you to wendy for the service ❤️
Just had the best meal of our stay in Mexico City. The food is incredible, and would highly recommend selecting a set menu option. The environment is incredible (our host recommended bar seating), as you get to watch the chefs at work. The service is amazing. The staff are incredibly friendly, and went above and beyond after finding out we were celebrating an occasion. Will definitely be coming back
If there’s a way to reach sushi heaven, this is it! A must-stop if you’re in Mexico City—you won’t regret it. Every dish is packed with flavor, made with fresh ingredients, and offers a truly unique experience. I highly recommend sitting at the counter to make it even better. The customer service is unlike anything I’ve seen before. Rodrigo was our host, and I swear he could either read minds or had an incredible understanding of the flavors we were looking for, because every single recommendation was a 10000/10.
Given the price (~2,558mxn): Food 3/5 Service 2/5 Atmosphere 4/5 Food: We got a myriad of dishes since almost all of them came as single pieces that ranged from ~100-200mxn each. I don’t think any one of them wowed me or felt worth the price of the piece. A large factor in this was that the sushi rice they made was wayyy too sweet, which was incredibly noticeable with the butter salmon, and remained noticeable for the rest of the experience. Neither of us left full despite the hefty bill, and I started to dial myself back when I realized I wasn’t fully enjoying the food. The fish itself was good, and most of the topping they came with were also good (lemon zest, yuzu, etc.). The wasabi was very dry, I would often get a chunk of wasabi and try to get it on my sushi, but it would land and then roll off. The ginger was tasty but also pretty dry somehow. We got the Oaxacan chocolate piece and the balance was pretty far off. I think I’d recommend the bass, hotate, and spicy tuna hand roll. Also on the back of the menu there is a sushi roll with crispy salmon skin and the crispy salmon skin was spot on, but the 6 pieces felt way too small for the price (good though) Service: Did not feel very welcome. We are learning Spanish, decent at it (B1 and B2), and are excited to learn and practice. We were handed English menus and were spoken to mostly in English despite us speaking exclusively Spanish the whole time. In our first interaction he asked what type of water we wanted, mineral or natural, and then he was essentially walking away as he mentioned it would be bottled, so we didn’t have a good opportunity to turn it down for non bottled water instead. The two bottles came out to $190mxn which is insane. Also I requested gluten free soy sauce in the reservation but never received any. Atmosphere: The vibe of sitting at the bar is pretty great, it was really fun seeing them make everything and prep the fish. The music was good, but a little too loud. Overall, I wouldn’t come back, it was far too expensive for the experience. Everything was good, but for the price it should have been excellent.
Santo has long been one of my favorite restaurants. Whenever I have the chance, I recommend it to friends and family because I genuinely believe it’s a wonderful place to eat and enjoy a great experience. Unfortunately, this visit was the exception. I met a close friend whom I hadn’t seen in a long time, and while we did order from appetizers to dessert, we repeatedly felt pressured by the staff to continue ordering. It became clear that they wanted us to finish quickly. Toward the end, we were explicitly asked to give up our table because there were other people waiting, despite the fact that several tables were still empty. I found this situation disappointing and unnecessary. Every guest’s time and experience should be valued, and being asked to leave in this manner felt rushed and discourteous. What was meant to be a relaxed and meaningful gathering was abruptly cut short. In hindsight, I regret having left a tip, as the level of service and courtesy did not reflect the standards I had previously associated with this restaurant. This was my friend’s first visit, and unfortunately it left her with a poor impression. As someone who has always spoken highly of Santo, I’m now unsure whether I would return if the experience ends with feeling pressured to leave.
