I can literally say that I feel genuinely bad for giving any other restaurant a 5 star prior to going to this steakhouse. This place has a great vibe, small room seating for romantic or open for groups. First time here but we will be back like Norm at Cheers. The only thing better than the food, was the service!
My group of fifteen celebrated my mother's birthday here. The food was delicious, cocktails were perfect, and the service was excellent and friendly. We will definitely return.
Oh my goodness I had such a fun time. They made the most delicious old fashioned that has ever crossed my lips. This is a family-run business and it shows. The food is always on point and the service is exceptional
Great food and consistent service. Staff is helpful, efficient, and extremely pleasant. Atmosphere is also nice able to celebrate special occasion with out going overboard on being formal. Nice spot for a date in a place off the beaten path...
Had a delicious dinner tonight. Ed, the owner, greeted us and made our evening a special one. We celebrated my birthday and we each enjoyed a different steak. The filet mignon was done to perfection. The ambiance was great. This place is a must for steak lovers.
Our first time here was a great experience. Our server, Mark, was very helpful in telling us about the restaurant, menu and the specials they do throughout the week. The food was great and the service was perfect. Can't wait to go back
My wife and I recently got married and wanted to have a nice quiet date night to celebrate. The staff was amazing and took great care of us. The management even wrote a nice card congratulating us and bought us a drink. I believe I had one of the best steaks in the Bay Area.
This was my 1st time here. And my wife and I celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary. As soon as we entered the door we were greeted with smiles and amazing hospitality. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. Will definitely come back
Had a private party of nine in a back room. The service was excellent, a very quick and attentive staff. Never an empty glass, nor an plate without bread. The steaks (and all other dishes were cooked to perfection). All dishes came out at the same time so no one was left out. The only issues was that all steaks were slightly cold as well as the plates. Just ask them to make sure the food is hot, the staff were extremely good!
Such a sweet spot in downtown Clayton! The service was impeccable and the food was outstanding!!! Looking forward to going back!!!!
We had our first date night since moving to California earlier this year at Moresi’s. It was easy to get a reservation, place is adorable and it was walking distance from home - added bonus. The food was good, reasonable portions (maybe a little small) and good drinks. It’s a nice little place to have in the neighborhood. Looking forward to more dinners here, hopefully outside while the weather is nice. Adorable patio.
Top shelf, as usual. Sorry I missed Ed on the trip. He takes the five stars to six, or at least five and a half. 😁
I came here with a friend on St. Patrick's day, Moresi's had a special menu in honor of St. Patrick's day. The staff were a bit young, looked to be mostly around 17 to 20. HOWEVER, they were on their A game! Food and drink recommendations were on point and every single staff member greeted us and thanked us for coming joining them for dinner. Our food was hot and was cooked to perfection, so much so that I had to order a second helping of the shepherd's pie! Honestly, they deserve a 10 out of 10! If you're looking for a nice place to take a partner on a date, or meet the guys for a cold one, have a family gathering, or even a solo meal. I highly recommend trying Moresi's. I'm sure you'll love it as much as I did. I wish I had remembered to take pictures while I was there to share with you all. Guess I will just have to go back again soon! 😉
Small town atmosphere and 5 star food. We don't get to to eat here often enough. Very good food great service. Small but well stocked bar although there are a few whiskeys I could recommend. If you're in the Clayton area stop in you won't be disappointed.
I'm pretty tough to impress, I was a server/bartender for many years. This place was fantastic. Came in on a Friday night, just me and my lady. It was fairly busy. Had reservations so we were seated quickly. Hostess was very nice. Greeted by busser with water within a minute of sitting. Server was great, quick with drinks and came back promptly for our order. Appetizer and entrees were excellent and in a timely fashion. Didn't have room for dessert but I'm sure that would have been great too. 5 Stars all around. Owner or manager came by said hello after dinner as well as a goodbye at the door. Couldnt have been better. Thank you! Will be returning.
Always delicious with excellent service. My favorite restaurant for spoiling myself. Love love love it!!
Had the filet, scalloped potatoes and beans. Other than the beans tasting not much better than what you get out a can of Bush's everything else was amazing. Steak was cooked to perfection and the potatoes were cheesy with that burnt rubbery edges that are almost the best part. Bar selection is spot on with the liquors they offer. A must for steak lovers.
Small batch feel in this amazing steak house. Excellent service and such a cozy place. Food was top notch and really felt upscale. I'm planning to come back Friday or Saturday for their prime rib. Alex the server was a great guide, best service. We went for our anniversary and they treated us really, really well. It was very special.
Love this place! Order baby pork ribs with glazed carrots and mashed potatoes! DELICIOUS 😋 and dessert was AMAZING . Service was amazing, we sit outside and it was beautiful.

A charming, surprisingly specious place with the classic grill menu and a nice bar:)
Having lived in Clayton for 16 years, I can confidently say that Moresi's Chophouse holds a special place in our historic, beautiful and romantic town. The owner, Ed, truly knows how to run a business and has become a friend over the years. Every dining experience at Moresi's Chophouse has been exceptional. The ambiance rivals that of a fine dining establishment, making it perfect for a special night out or a casual dinner with friends. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, always ensuring we have everything we need. Ed often stops by our table, adding a personal touch to our visits. For those looking to elevate their dining experience, I highly recommend sitting out on the deck during our summer concerts in the park. The view of Mount Diablo is breathtaking and adds a romantic touch to your meal. Moresi's Chophouse is a fantastic spot for anyone seeking a high-quality meal in a cozy, charming, and delightful setting.
Took a first date there. Neither of us had been before. Had a reservation, and we seated promptly. Food was prepared as ordered, and the atmosphere was cozy. We closed the place down, 1.5 hours after closing. The bartender had no problem with us just enjoying coffee and talking. I would definitely recommend and will return.
Took my partner out to congratulate then for their new job! Fast seating, service and the serving of the food. I believe withing 15 mins of ordering we got our food and drinks. The atmosphere was so nice and the sky was so pretty. Overall the waitress was amazing and super fun. Would 100% come again!
Very nice and friendly staff, good food and generous amount. Their special menus comes with beer or wine and soup or salad. I loved the fish and chips. Big portion and delicious fish. Wine was good too
Went for the taco Tuesday menu. Great food, but had a wonderful, fantastic, amazing server!
Always a treat For a birthday dinner or for celebrating a dirty kitchen Everything... was on point. Great service as always and greeted by the gm.. Epic bloody mary's. Calamari appetizer....Pear salad is my go to...and a perfectly cooked rare ribeye steak finished off with silky smooth creme brulee...reall can't find the right words it was a very nice evening for a birthday dinner No pics just enjoying the moments .. thank you..
Drinks were amazing, staff was amazing food was insane. Pricey, but for special occasions this will be our go to place! Loved sitting outside. We had Gillian as our server and will always call ahead to made sure she is working. She made it awesome.
Great food, drinks, wonderful atmosphere. Sunday dinner, it is a great time and a wonderful price.

service is always great for the most part. food was good. My wife and I enjoy coming here every once in a while to support a local business. Atmopshere is always great and the owner always checks in. Way better than spending time and money at Ruths chris believe that!
Have to post since we love this place. Close to home and always great service and good food.
The services was good. The wine was nice. A bit smaller than I thought it would be. The steak for the price should have been bigger. $45 bucks let's get at least 1 1/2 inches thick. I totally get it is a restaurant, but for the price I'll be going to Costco and eating fat steak for home. Overall it was a good experience.
Morrsi's is a great local hidden gem. My wife and I have been going here for years. They have a great menu with reasonable prices.
The food was excellent. The only negative experience was being told by the hostess that we had until 7:30pm to eat because they had another reservation. I've never been told anything like that before but it never ended up being an issue.
The only reason for the lack of 5 stars is because the sides were not hot and the baked potato was over cooked. The salad we shared was fabulous, as was the meat.
The place was nice, but the rooms they put us in was freezing cold. So, the room was the entrance to an office, so staff was constantly coming in and out making the experience a bit less enjoyable. The food was good, but got cold really quick. Our waitress was really nice. Not the absolute best quality of meat, but not bad at all.
The booth seating has the table too close and straight back seating that was barely comfortable. Food was good, service was very pleasant, seating tolerable

Very friendly staff and great ambiance but the food was okay. French onion soup was very salty, ordered the special pork ribs and side of fries it was more like French Fries with side of Pork Ribs. The desserts- crème brûlée and chocolate lava cake were good.
My husband and I went here on a much needed date night and were very excited to try it after reading all of the rave reviews. However, sadly half of the food was just ok. We started with two appetizers, the Arancini and the Calamari Fritti both were delicious! The Calamari was perfectly fried and the Arancini had such great flavor. When our entrees came out it was a completely different experience. My husband had the ribeye cooked black and blue and I had the medium rare prime rib. His steak was not black and blue at all. It barely had a sear on it and was medium rare. No flavor or seasoning to speak of. My prime rib was tough and the broccoli it was served with tasted old. We were very disappointed because we wanted to love this place. It is in a quaint part of Clayton and had wonderful atmosphere.
My son had a filet which was perfectly prepared. Unfortunately, I had the petrale sole special. The sole filet was overcooked, especially at the edges and it didn't taste fresh. The service was good.
If you're a regular they love you. We only come a couple of times a year so we don't get the same treatment as the cool kids. Food is ok but overpriced Not much atmosphere. It used to be a nice place to come. And being told before you even get inside the building that you you need to be out in 90 minutes is just not good, we felt rushed before we even started. It's lost its enjoyment for us, sadly.
The food was great, everything was delicious. The service was good; the restaurant itself is beautiful, and of course the whole town of Clayton is gorgeously picturesque. One thing that unpleasantly surprised me was that we came to celebrate my birthday, and no one offered a piece of cake with a candle like they usually do in restaurants. I mean, they asked if we wanted to order a dessert, and I said we were full assuming they will bring this birthday cake anyways and we don’t want anything extra, and they were like, okay happy birthday drive safe. I know it’s a little thing but I’m a single mom of an almost one year old and I don’t go out that often, I wanted to have a little celebration, and it’s the only place I’ve been to in the US that won’t do that. We went to La Veranda for my bday last year and they did make this effort to mark the special occasion, so I guess it’s not part of local traditions or something.
Sad to report risotto was crunchy. Salad came out after entree, which we asked to be canceled when the meal came. High school server didn't care and said she put it in before meal. Made us feel bad and uncomfortable, asked if we wanted to take it off the bill instead of just offering to do it. This has been our anniversary tradition to go to Moresis. Sadly we will probably go somewhere else. Of course she charged us for the salad.

The food was just okay and the service was very slow. Just getting a before dinner beverage took FAR too long! But I guess what bugged me the most were the prices! A New York steak worth maybe $35 was $47! A full rack of ribs, while cooked well, were covered with an unimpressive BBQ sauce. The rack was $38, but should have been $28 at best! A very limited list of sides came with these dinners, though more sides that cost extra were available! To add to all that, we sat outside next a table of drunk 60ish couples along with a few single men who were so screaming loud, our group of 5 couldn't carry on a conversation! Of course, they were running up quite a tab, so the wait staff didn't ask them to be just a little considerate of others! God forbid they should stop spending money! All in all, not an enjoyable dining experience.
Dinner was not great. Ran out of a lot of items. We have been here before before COVID and it was amazing. Tonight was my boyfriends birthday an it was not good... Food lacked salt, not cooked very well and was missing the regular 5 star rating we had before.
Nice place in great location, but VERY expensive for at best medium quality food. The sides were terrible. Caesar salad was not freshly made, cream spinach was bland, and only baked potato side worth anything. Drink prices were reasonable, but again, meat prices were ridiculously high for sometimes poorly cooked, medium-quality (at best) meat.
Dinner Friday night was a disappointment. Food arrived lukewarm. The room we were in was so loud we could not hear our fellow diners at the other end of the table. Servers kept walking by our table to take food to outdoor diners and kept leaving the door open leaving some of our fellow diners in a draft. Despite frequent requests to close the door after the server used it, we finally had to yell to get someone to pay attention. Don’t order the fried chicken, it’s less chicken and more breading. We won’t be back.
Steak and salad came out together. Steak arrived at room temperature with a depressing color, and three veins of gristle. It looked and tasted like something you would buy at a discount store. No utensils were offered, so I had to request. No black pepper was offered. I respectfully paid and tipped and chose to speak to the manager in private after my meal. Her customer service upon hearing my experience was that of passive, cold, and lacking an ounce of sincerity. I ate at one of the last Sizzler locations open 7 months ago and it ran circles around this place.

Not a real chophouse. All food came to the table cool or warm. Steak was horribly undercooked. Glazed carrots were a joke. Waitress left us alone for days on multiple occasions. Drinks and appetizers will be fine. This is NOT a steakhouse!
Pricey but not worth it. The 16 oz ribeye is ridiculously pricey @$61. Plating needs a lot of improvement. Staff are friendly though. But definitely not going back. I’d rather have fine dining @ Fleming’s or Ruth’s Chris Steak House
