15 Feb update Had pleasure of coming back. Had the house rustic hash. Not your traditional corned beef. In fact has everything but. Simply great. However the star was the fresh made biscuits . I travel the world and other than my momma and wife have yet to have great biscuits in my travels. Until cadillac... truly first class. Wonder if they will think me crazy when I bring my flt crew back and we just order biscuits, warm honey 🍯 and good service? ‐---------- Unique and tasty recreation of comfy breakfast favorites. Never-ending drunk and coffee offering. Friendly and professional service. Huge portions of quality and tasty foods
We went for breakfast on Sunday morning at 9am. The food and service was fantastic. The atmosphere is diner-like, bright and cheerful. Coffee was refilled promptly and the wait staff was all friendly and helpful. It was also fun to watch two kids try to figure out the rotary phone! It has a dial tone and was very entertaining to all. Overall, we’ll be back!
Have been coming to Cadillac since I was a kid. Best breakfast in Portland. They get pretty busy especially on the weekends. Pink cadillac in the restaurant that really adds to the classy diner feel of this place. Lovely staff, great service. Definitely on the pricier side but worth it as the quality of food is soo good. They have chicken apple sausage which I really appreciate since most breakfast spots only have pork options. Vegetarian options as well such as the spinach benedict. Would recommend especially for special occasions. Love it!
5 stars alone from our service our waiter pete came to give us free banana bread after waiting awhile super fast service and kind staff was busy food was great got the smoked salmon benedict bloody mary flight as well was delicious service is a 10 so nice the chiefs in the kitchen are also nice the restaurant is super clean and amazing my bf got the cadillac benedict and the grape fruit mimosa said they were delicious as well my daughter got the brunch special of strawberry french toast and the apple juice we will def be back the next time we visit portland!
Breakfast food is incredible, and they'll make your order gluten free if you ask!
Had Hazelnut French Toast, Bacon just the way I love it. They brought me a small bowl of whip cream woth a candle in it for my Birthday. So nice of them.
Came on a brunch date with my son. It was absolutely delicious. I'm a big fan of Cadillacs, and it just so happens that there is a beautiful one parked in the restaurant🥰🥰 Our server's name was Bryan and was very courteous and friendly. I tried The Oregonian (2x)and Cadillac Omlete 😋😋My son had French toast(delicious) We'll be coming back with the rest of my kids.💙
My friends & I had a great brunch experience! Classic brunch options, good drinks and great service . The gentleman ( I assume manager) , made our experience extra special. We were celebrating our bachelorette party and they went above and beyond to honor the bride ! Highly recommended for a fun casual brunch.
Longtime mainstay for breakfast for my dad, brothers and me. Excellent food and atmosphere. Gotta love any cafe with art deco vibes and a fully restored '61 Coupe De Ville in the center. 🤘
When i arrived was greated and directed to my table. My server was delightful. I was not familiar with their menu, she helped me choose with some options that had what I was craving. She filled up my cup with coffee and never went empty. Another person not sure if a supervisor or manager also checked on me and ask if everything was alright. The potatoes were seasoned and cooked with so much flavor, whe. I mixed them with my egg was perfection. The pancakes had that biscuit flavor I like. All and all a great experience.
04/14/18: 4.5 out 5 - Cadillac Cafe has been around for a long time. However, this is my first time. I came here after a long run with my Saturday running group. It wasn't too far from the downtown waterfront of Portland. The cafe was spacious, bright, very clean, filled with all types of individuals, and even had a fully restored and operational Cadillac inside! The staff were presentable and with professional decorum. Treated everyone with class and dignity. The food was very tasty and plated well. Quite a variety to choose from for types of eaters. I'd suggest anyone in the area to stop by and try it once, and decide for yourself. Enjoy!
Went out for breakfast for the first time since I got out of the hospital. Had breakfast at this incredible place called Cadillac Cafe. Not only is the food incredible but they actually have a pink 1961 Cadillac in their dining room. First time trying and I’ll definitely be back! I had the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast with scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, English muffin and coffee. Yum!
Omelets to die for great portions, tasty as ever and let me tell you about the potatoes best ever for breakfast. Staff knowledgeable and at the Cadillac Cafe you will always see a variety of faces and cultures all eating under one roof. The decor is unique wallpaper in the ladies room. The Cadillac in the dining room is such a great part and pretty car to look at while eating. Old fashioned diner with the allure and sparkle from something modern with its choices of flavors and food !
My server Cecil was amazing very welcoming and a joy to my first visit here! Thank you 😊 Food was Great as well !!!
Love coming here for breakfast. Very popular, especially on the weekends. The service is always great. Had the Mixed Grill Omelet which were served with Cadillac Potatoes. It was tasty and very fulling. Love that they are really great at keeping your coffee topped off. No parking lot but you can always find parking nearby.
The French toast is amazing. The avocado eggs Benedict is okay. The English muffin is a bit small and overcooked. Home fries are fantastic. It is a bit pricey, especially some of the drinks. But pretty good and good vegetarian options
I love this place, for breakfast or brunch... Great food, amazing customer service. I went there today for my Birthday brunch... They gave me BD desert 😋... Love the atmosphere... I only wish they played classical music... (Thank you guys, We came last minute before closing and they served us, and manager allowed to open the glass door so I could take pictures and they got the fire place going, just because I asked them that I want to take beautiful pics) so kind and sweet of them! Level 1-10 ? I give them 10+ 😘
Fried Cajun catfish was delicious! I didn't care much for the grits but everything else was yummy. The ambience of this place is a dinner style ambience with an area made to look like it's outdoors, with patio furniture. The pink Cadillac inside is pretty awesome. Service was good. Place gets packed during peak times.
You will never be disappointed with the food at Cadillac Cafe! We've been going there for years with our kids, and now as seniors! Best ever!!! Never disappointed!! And we must mention Connor, our server, a true delight! Thank you, Connor, for an amazing event at Cadillac with you the other morning! Je ne sais quoi!!! Jane & Jim
Wonderful environment with beautiful atmosphere. Everyone is very welcoming. Family friendly . There was no wait to be seated but nearly every table was full there after. The menus has many choices and prices were comparable to the area. The portions are plentiful, don't worry you will have plenty of food for any appetite. Highly recommended
The food was good. Fresh, well-made, and decent size servings. You can get good brunch at lots of places in Portland, but what makes this place stand out is the service. Everyone we encountered was absolutely exceptional. Wildly welcoming, friendly, and perfectly attentive. The host Tim is a gosh-darn national treasure. Give them a raise immediately!! My only complaint was the booth size. Not at all comfy for anyone not waif-sized. That said, we could have asked to switch to a table, and we didn't, so no big deal. Oh, and the Virgin Mary was delicious!! Thank you for having yummy alcohol-free options 😋
What an awesome place! Cool atmosphere and the food is amazing. Espresso drinks are really good but if you like foam tell them to make them extra foamy. Food came out super fast. Definitely going to throw this into the rotation for our breakfast on the weekends. Can’t wait to come back. Try the French toast that has the hazelnuts...it’s out of this world. Cadillac potatoes are amazing...don’t salt them, try them first.
Literally the best French toast I've ever had. I also loved that they had fancy mocktails as I don't enjoy drinking alcohol in the daytime but it was fun to have something a little fancy with brunch. It was also reasonably quiet on a busy Saturday as they have a floor to ceiling glass pane separating the two parts of the dining room.
Ordered the biscuits and gravy and the chicken fried steak with a side order of the apple sausage and two of their The Hollywood coffees. The biscuits and gravy tasted good but could have used more gravy for how thick the biscuits were. The apple sausage was dry and not worth the money. The coffees tasted great but were spendy for the size given. It's a wait to be seated restaurant and we waited about 10 minutes when we first walked in for someone to notice us but once someone did we were seated immediately with no additional wait time. The servers were friendly and the atmosphere was great. Two meals, two coffees, with one extra side order cost a little over $70.00.
A great breakfast meeting. Love this place. We had the French Custard Toast and the Cadillac Benedict. Did not disappoint.
I work nights and a coworker highly recommended it. It was a great recommendation. I was seated by the fireplace, and the staff made food and drinks recommendations. They were spot on! I am already planning a return trip with coworkers after the holidays. Definitely a new favorite!
I ordered the smoked salmon hash, definitely a different take on it. Not use to having it with sweet potatoes and cubed potatoes. It was pretty good. If you are into smoked salmon definitely worth a try. Also ordered a fruit smoothie, best restaurant smoothie that I have had thus far.
So the elephant in the room here is that the food is terribly overpriced for it being a diner. That being said I’m still giving 5 stars because the food and service were great! Staff are super friendly and welcoming and the breakfast plate I had was great. The hazelnut French toast was really great, would come back just for that. But $22 for a simple breakfast plate just seems a tad over inflated. I fear it will deter return customers from coming back, especially the elderly cliental that seems to be a big part of their demographic. Hope all the best for them!
I've been here twice now and this cafe does not disappoint. I ordered Three Berry French Toast Breakfast for the second time. It is so so good. Service was excellent. There's such a wonderful vibe coming from the staff. Quite the history with this cafe. Broke down and had the Key lime milk shake. OMG it's so good. The coffee is really really good but I take it black as should anyone who takes coffee seriously.
This is a classic Portland cafe. Typical cafe food options but with a NW style to them. I had the smoked salmon hash. It’s a lot of food and easily shared. We added an order of the French toast which they are sort of famous for and that turned out to be a great idea. The hash was bold flavored and the smoke on the salmon which is done in house was perfectly done to not be overpowering. The poached eggs were done to the correct consistency. Ambiance is classic diner but a notch up with the pink caddy parked in the dinning room. Super cool vibes. Our server wore pink colored glasses and that just made everything so much better.
We arrived at 10:30 on a Saturday with no wait. I did notice that once 11 rolled around, people did have to wait for about 30-45 minutes, so get here early to beat the crowds! We had a very attentive and kind server (Pete) who kept our water and coffee full. The food took about 30 minutes to come out, so we were given a generous serving of free coffee cake (pictured) to tide us over. The pancakes were phenomenal. I did ask for English muffins and got toast, as well as ordering bacon, and did not receive it, but honestly, the food was so good I didn't bring it up. The serving sizes are VERY generous. I enjoyed a Virgin Mary to drink - a virgin twist on the bloody Mary. I'm pregnant, so it felt nice to enjoy something other than water or juice. The restaurant is beautiful (we were sitting in the garden room) with plenty of natural sun. There were fun old Cadillac pieces set around the store and old music played. It was a really nice vibe for both a romantic brunch with my fiance and a family-friendly environment. Can't wait to come back!
Delightful! Excellent food. Honestly, it was the BEST eggs Benedict and crisp bacon I've ever had. SOME of the seats are ULTRA close together, but the sign says they have a state of the art air purification system, which is nice. Some of the seating is almost elbow to armpit in places, but the food quality kinda makes up for that. The full bar makes it the ideal Sunday brunch experience if you don't mind the areas where it's close-up breathe-their-breath seating.
The service was great, both friendly and prompt. I had a small veggie omelet with fruit (instead of potatoes). The omelet was prepared well though I like a little less filling in mine. The fruit was a nice surprise, lots of fresh berries instead of the standard melon from a jar. My hubby had their standard (eggs, potato and sausage) with one piece of the french toast. Sunnyside up eggs were perfect, but the star was the french toast which was topped with chopped hazelnuts. If you like french toast theirs is everything its supposed to be.
I'll be going back. My standard benchmark meal, Biscuits and Gravy, was spot on. Gravy and biscuits tasted fresh and made in house. A really nice change from other restaurants. Eggs Benedict was 3 out of 5. The hollandaise just wasn't as savory as I like. Needed a bit of lemon. Plus the English muffin was a bit over toasted, made it difficult to cut. Overall, a nice experience. Looking forward to next time.
All around the food was good and drinks were good. Great service and nice history to the place. The Bloody Mary flight I do not recommend the flavors were very interesting 1/5 The BFK sparked coffee with cold brew was pretty good 4/5 Hibiscus old fashioned pretty good a little too sweet 4/5
Ordered the Cadillac Benedict, Avocado Benedict, Cadillac Biscuits Gravy & Eggs, and Rustic Hash. Service was top-notch with quick food delivery. Only hiccup was the watery gravy for the Cadillac biscuits and the eggs weren't over medium. Otherwise, a pleasant dining experience.
Very nice spot, clean, good service, super quick kitchen! Bacon was a bit under done (on one side), biscuits are super thick and I thought they were lacking gravy, I much prefer hash browns to these potatoes (a bit dense and chewy for me). They killed it on the look and design of restaurant!
Great unique cafe. Very popular for brunch. There is a Cadillac on display in the Cafe, hence the name. Wait time was minimal, but we were lucky on that point. Has a "garden room" with a fireplace as well as main seating. Fast friendly service. Tips are added for you, so be aware that you dont have a choice to reward great service or not. Great menu options. Pretty pricey, even just 2 pancakes will cost you $15.00. If you want something else then plan on $22-$34. The food is great. Except for the pancakes, which are tough and tasteless. Too bad.
The milkshakes were amazing, such good flavor and the best kind of sweet and rich from a milkshake. The food was very good. It wasn't anything outstanding, but it was all cooked well and tasted good. It was just what we were after for brunch, and it was very filling. There was a bit of a pretentious feeling about the place, and I'm not totally sure if that was the staff or the customers or just who happened to be there that morning. It wasn't my favorite outing, but that's not to say it would keep me from going back.
Large portions of usual breakfast Cafe food. The seasoning on the potatoes was good. The bacon is thick cut and tasty. The Pear Mimosa and Lemon Drop Mimosa was good. Could have used more water and an extra napkin or two. Just know that this place is small and the tables are close. So you'll likely be seated next to a larger group, so be prepared to lean in while trying to conversate as it gets mildly loud.
The Cadillac cafe is a cool concept and theme. I enjoyed visiting and thought the food was decent. I got a decently sized scramble fully loaded with sausage, bacon and potatoes and everything. The only bummer was that we didn’t get to see the Cadillac on display as it was removed. Additionally I felt that the prices for this brunch spot could be a little lower. Anyways, the food was decent and we enjoyed our stay.
We went early morning and the breakfast was amazing, and the potatoes were very well made. We went again another day later in the morning and the biscuits were very dense, the potatoes were basically raw, however the eggs were good. It was too heavy to enjoy - however the service and environment were great both times.
I know there are great reviews, and so our expectations were high. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Menu was diverse. $75 for breakfast for 3. Chicken fried steak was bland, gravy too. Eggs were over cooked. Expected more. Update: Tried it once again and was impressed with my Denver Omlette with potatoes and sour dough toast. My wife had the French toast with cranberries, hazelnuts, and bananas. Very good.
Prices are a little on the steep side. $22 for salmon eggs Benedict but the pieces of salmon weren’t very large and also they now started charges extra fee per egg on your order. My order comes with two eggs so double charge. The English muffin was super soggy and tasted sour, i couldn’t eat it . Barbie mimosa was weak and so small in size , not worth $13 bucks . The idea of a Cadillac cafe with actual pink Cadillac inside is unique and cute but there won’t be another visit.
I went for brunch with friends. It was semi busy but not overly busy. I found the general wait staff was friendly but our server was short tempered and tried to hide it and did not check in on us. I think they left early without notifying about a replacement. Had to ask multiple times for simple items like a napkin. The environment is nice and cozy. There is a Cadillac inside the cafe and I think it would be a good spot for first dates. Overall it was good. My food I got did not mesh well together. Although the individual ingredients were good, I don’t recommend getting the smoked salmon hash. The flavor of the salmon over powers the other ingredients. If it was fresh and not smoked it would be better. The plate was really hot like burn you hot and seemed like it was reheated in a microwave cause food was splattered and melted on it, I did not like that part. My lunch mates enjoyed their food and their drink specials seemed to be a favorite. Food portion was more than enough and price seems in line with this kind of establishment. Pay about $30 with meal and drink. Expect a 15-20 min wait if you go on during peak times. Don’t expect fresh food. Overall I think worth checking out since everyone will have a different experience depending on time of day, and who your server is. The environment is worth it, food is average in my opinion.
My husband did not like his dish and my son hated his biscuits and gravy but he asked for a pancake with bananas he absolutely loved it. Food portions are large. My Salmon Caesar Salad was delicious but if you don’t like salty don’t order the Salmon it was on the salty side. Service was lacking. Water was not refilled we had to ask to be given more water. It took about 15- 20 min for the pancakes to be made and brought out? It’s a pancake how long can one pancake take. Our server gave great customer service to the guys next to us but for some reason she didn’t really take care of us. Will not be returning.
The wait to get a table was surprisingly quick on a Saturday. The food arrived after a 15-20 minute wait. Sadly, my food arrived lukewarm at best and potatoes were cold and mushy. The chicken sausage was dry and tough. The poached eggs were ok but the vinegar flavor was heavy. My dining partner's order arrived incorrectly with tomatoes but he didn't want to send the food back for fear of another long wait.
Wait staff is very friendly and attentive, you'll be treated very well. The atmosphere is goofy/novel/funny, something not alot of resteraunts go for anymore - certainly a unique place that I appreciate exists (up there with Kelly's Olympian and the old Rockabilly Cafe). Unfortunately, since the last time I've been to Cadillac there must've been a change in the kitchen. I'm not sure if it's the staff or where they are sourcing their ingredients but, the quality of the food has nosedived. It was never the best food in Portland, and it's always been a little pricey - but for it to be pricey AND bad enough that even a modest customer would send a dish back to the kitchen... it's just not worth going for the decor and staff. Can't recommend.
This is one restaurant in the heart of Portland that didn’t impress us at all. The only thing worth writing about is their theme which consisted of a few photos of old Cadillacs around the cafe. We got the Two Eggs, Cadillac Potatoes & Toast and the French Custard Toast. The potatoes came out cold and were somewhat raw. The rest was okay but nothing special. The French toast were okay. We also got the cappuccino, which was made well but it came in a tiny cup. It was too expensive for the quantity. In the end we were kind of disappointed because the restaurant has a lot of good reviews but they didn’t live up to our expectations.
This place used to be absolutely phenomenal. As of late, however, it seems the quality keeps dropping. My last visit I requested the steak and eggs, steak cooked to a rare-medium/rare. Received well done, and when explaining the wrong cook temperature, I was looked at like I didn’t know what I was talking about when I said my steak was chewy. Trying to rectify their mistake,I again requested rare-medium rare (pink in the middle). What I received was raw. White veins in the meat, showing undercooked red meat. At this point I gave up. Im not waiting another 40 minutes for another underwhelming experience.
