The food and drinks at this restaurant are fantastic. I had the Mushroom Brandy pasta, which was delicious. I also recommend the appetizer options, particularly the charcuterie board and the wings, both of which I've tried and loved. The alcohol selection is extensive, featuring a fun list of cocktails. I enjoyed several drinks, all of which were perfectly made, thanks to the skillful bartender. The staff is extremely friendly and provides excellent service. The atmosphere is great, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor deck offers a wonderful view and has a convenient service window for the bar. This restaurant is an exciting new addition to the golf course, and as a golfer, it has quickly become one of my regular spots. Even during the off-season, I plan to keep this place in my dining rotation. I highly recommend checking it out!
What a gem! I had an incredible dinner here—everything from the food to the drinks to the setting was spot on. We started with the charcuterie board, wings, and shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were huge and super fresh, and the wings had great flavor and crisp. For my main, I had the chicken special, which came with a delicious mango chutney-style topping. The sides—green beans, carrots, and mashed potatoes—were all perfectly cooked and really rounded out the dish. The cocktails were a highlight too. I tried the spicy margarita, gimlet, manhattan, and espresso martini, and each one was excellent. You can tell the bartenders take pride in what they do. To finish things off, I had the affogato for dessert—simple, rich, and the perfect ending to the meal. On top of all that, the owners, staff, and bartender were all genuinely lovely. They created such a welcoming, friendly vibe that made the whole experience feel like home. We sat outside, and the view of the golf course was beautiful. It made the whole night feel relaxed and special. I’ll definitely be back.
Such a sweet staff and lovely crowd of folks. We had the honey habanero wings and charcuterie board. Pictures were taken late (my fault sorry). Servers were smiling, professional, friendly. Everything was delicious and they even accommodated my husband with some gluten free bread!! The menu had a little bit of everything and we sat outside which was lovely. The orange cosmo was delicious and carefully created. We will be back for sure and next time have dinner!! So happy this gem of a location has you guys. I loved the music playing to add to the ambience!!!
A beautiful spot with amazing food and with a ton of gluten free options !My favorites are the Caesar salad and mushroom pasta. So fresh and delicious!
Great service, great Food. I'm a pretty big foodie as you can tell with my reviews but this will definitely be a spot I will keep coming back to. Thank you to Shae for great experience

Our family had the most delightful lunch and we’re still talking about it! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and a relaxing atmosphere. The food was fantastic. Every app and dish was fresh and flavorful. It was obvious that there is a capable chef in the kitchen. We had the coconut shrimp, tuna poke, caprese salad, back 9 burger and french dip. A special mention goes to the cocktails — wow! Creative, refreshing, and expertly mixed. This spot is a true gem — perfect for a family lunch, a casual date, or even just for a cocktail and appetizer. We are looking forward to coming back for dinner!
Had an enjoyable dining experience here today. Brie cheese appetizer was very good and entrees of shrimp scampi and chicken picatta were delicious and nicely presented. Our server Mike was very attentive. Recommend dining here and we will be returning.
It was my first time trying their food and it was delicious! I tried the bolognese that was to die for and they also had multiple specials so it was hard to pick one. I tried their truffle Mac and cheese and it was amazing. While I waited for my food I also had an espresso martini which I highly recommend doing if you’re ever getting take out. Going back tonight for sit down dinner!
This fairly new restaurant at the Van Schoick CC is an excellent addition to the area restaurant scene. All our courses were top notch and delicious. Their Pork Ossa Buco is amazing, egg plant stack was also a winner and the small Caesar salad properly dressed and also delicious. Our waiter was attentive and friendly and we enjoyed everything about our experience.
Phenomenal views, with better food & excellent staff. From the burger, to the bucatini, the wings, the salads, and the sandwiches, you can go in and have a great meal regardless of what you’re in the mood for. The staff is incredibly friendly and patient - which I can confidently say after going in with a party of 7. The drinks are quality made, creative and strong. Cannot say enough good things about this place; it combines an upscale feel with neighborhood vibes where you won’t break the bank. Must try
Three of us had a great dinner at Back Nine Bistro. We enjoyed specialty cocktails then shared the Stacked Eggplant appetizer and Wedge salad before entrees arrived. We highly recommend the Chateaubriand, Osso Bucco and Shrimp Scampi. If you have any room left after dinner, check out the dessert options! Key Lime Pie is a 10 out of 10!!!
Great new restaurant, would highly recommend. The staff was super friendly and on point. The bucatini was delicious and a great addition to their menu. The chicken Caesar salad was fresh, tasty, and a very solid portion. And the drinks left little to be desired. Definitely coming back soon.
Dropped by tonight and heard the music— and we were thrilled something exciting was going on Van Schaick Island! Great menu, surprisingly good food ( eggplant stack was crispy and tasty) and delightful service from Elle. We will definitely be back.
Kudos to the chef! This is a real chef folks and from what I tasted last night he knows how to go gormet and then take it up a notch. My bf had the buccatelli with brandy portabellos. Wow! Love the umani tang. I had the broiled halibut. Again, wow! Cooked to perfection with a powerful buttery, nutty flavored sauce with seared fingerlings but made in such a way it didnt overwhealm the fish. Fantastic. Kudos to the new owners of Back 9. They are trying very hard to bring a unique dining experience to Cohoes and the capital district. The restaurant business is difficult. Im so glad they are delivering new tastes for the table. The staff was great too. Love Jules and Justin!
This is an excellent spot for a relaxing dinner with fresh, delicious, and filling food. The ambience on the deck is unmatched, and there are several tables that offer shade. You won’t regret coming here for satisfying, welcoming dining out experience!
Easily my favorite restaurant in the capital region. There’s no better place I’d rather be than the Back 9. I come in at least once a week to enjoy the good vibes and excellent service. From Justin on the bar, to Matt in the kitchen, the menu is to die for. I can’t think of a better place to find a refreshing cocktail and a stellar meal. The owners, TJ and Ava, consistently go above and beyond to make ya feel at home. 10/10
This restaurant is a true gem! We sat out on the porch, which was perfect for enjoying a warm Friday night and a delicious meal outdoors. The staff was warm, welcoming, and provided great service. We will definitely be back soon!

I love the VS Country Club with its soothing and serene atmosphere, though tried it today for the first time under Back Nine, and wish I could have been more impressed. Ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken - chicken was ice cold and not much of it…. the Caesar dressing on the side had no flavor and tasted like mayonnaise. I could not eat it.. A few small slices of cheese barely, the croutons were the best part. Will try again with hopes next time is better.

We came here tonight for the 3rd time — first time was terrible but we gave them a second try and it was great. So we decided to try a third time and it was so bad.. my son’s chicken fingers came out raw. I broke one open and it was cold and raw so the waiter sent it back. I had asked if we could keep the French fries at least because he was hungry but he took the whole plate away. I ordered the fish tacos and they had 0 flavor.. the corn tortillas were also raw and hard/tough. There were tiny bits of fish but the majority of the taco was lettuce. I was expecting 2 decent sized pieces of fish for the price. My dad ordered the French dip and the meat was so dry and flavorless. I was really disappointed and I can safely say that we will not be back. The manager gave us a free dessert & comped the chicken fingers which was a nice gesture but they never even came over and apologized which I thought was odd. They made the waiter come over and tell us he was sorry (the waiter was great, that’s why I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1)
I went out with a group of nine adults and one toddler. With a group that large we made a reservation for 5:30pm and our table inside was ready when we arrived. We all arrived by no later than 5:45pm. Our drink orders were taken and then we didn't see our waitress again until 6:15pm for our dinner orders. Three people ordered soup as an appetizer and for dinners there were four orders for a salad, there were two pastas (one with gluten free penne), two ordered appetizers as their entrees, and one sandwich. None of which were overly complicated or should've taken long to put together. My husband and I figured our toddler could eat off our plates since there was a no kids menu. The soups came out around 6:45pm after a lot of mumbling about the timing of our food. To make matters worse, dinners weren't served until 7:15pm after little communication from our waitress about the delays other than that she was checking on it. When dinner was served, she asked me and another guest what we were waiting on. The other guest was waiting on his gluten free pasta and I my sandwich. His had been made without the gluten free pasta but my dish had been completely forgotten by the kitchen. His dish came out shortly after but I didn't get my dinner until 7:38pm at which point I asked for a take away box and the check. I would NOT recommend the Back Nine and am giving two stars because the food was okay and not horrible. The restaurant was busy but certainly not packed enough to warrant that kind of delay or our waitress not checking in on us more often. After a two hour wait from being seated to receiving my meal (which was forgotten by the kitchen), I'm less than impressed by our experience.
