I have the kale salad with chicken for lunch. It had a different look and presentation than what I expected, it was very good taste good. Service was excellent, my server was Naty, you won't be disappointed with her service. She works lunchtime Wednesday and Thursday and Friday for supper. You won't be disappointed. I will be returning
UPDATE: Well we made our way back to eat properly at Marfa’s Texas Kitchen..and so glad we did! We got the fig and goat again, delicious, and as main course the shrimp cheese and grits, and the chicken fried steak jalapeño...delicious all the way around!! The atmosphere was wonderful, could feel west Texas vibe, the environment was beautiful and the staff were wonderful. We are planning a party of 12 for the new year, looking forward to it! PRIOR: We were waiting around for car tires to be complete (recommend Discount tire highly!), and walked over on a Monday to try this place my wife had eaten at once prior and enjoyed. We walked in, only to realize they were closed (the owner nicely let us know they were decorating but closed), and we had a brief chat about the name (love it!). We thanked her and walked out, but she caught us before we moved on and offered us a free "fig and goat" for the road! She was so nice, and let me tell you the fig and goat was DELICIOUS! I ate it in like 2 minutes, so good! We'll be back when open proper, thank you so much to the owner, what a rare thing these days :)
I’ve had dinner and lunch experiences here. For dinner, we ordered the pistachio crusted country fried steak with jalapeño gravy. It was amazing, great flavors and overall really delicious, enough for 2 to share. For lunch, we had 3 adults and 2 kids in our party. We ordered Virgie’s stuffed eggs and the fig and goat for appetizers. The kids loved the eggs, adults loved the fig and goat. We tried the crawdaddy-super delicious, probably the best crawfish I’ve had, the beech mushroom tacos-really amazing flavors, and the not boring burger-again, amazing, maybe our new favorite burger in town. The waitress said they have some things for kids: butter noodles, pb &j, and grilled cheese. We absolutely love this restaurant. The employees are kind and not pushy, the food is superb, and the atmosphere is fun. Highly highly recommend. Our new favorite restaurant!
Stopped by for lunch and had a great experience! I had the “Basic Not Boring Brisket Burger” and the “Figgin’ Drink”. The jalapeño bacon jam on the burger was delicious and went perfectly with the toasted and slightly sweet bun. Fries were crispy and flavorful and my cocktail was really well balanced. Big portions, tasty food and cocktail, and excellent service/ambiance!
Marfa, Marfa, Marfa! My wife's friend and coworker first recommended Marfa Texas Kitchen (henceforth MTK), and I'll be the first to admit I was somewhat skeptical at first. For one, I don't even know what or where Marfa, Texas is--I'm rather uneducated in the ways of Lone Star geography--and for two, a quick glimpse into the Palantíri (Google) revealed what the professional contrarian in me believed to be a drab cellar with an overexerted theme. Again, I am quite skilled at judging before I have all the facts. Not only did I eat my words, but I'm glad I also ate the food here as well, because MAN let me tell you... MTK is *easily* my new favorite restaurant in Bryan College Station (endless apologies, Gate 12! I still love you!). Every story has a beginning, so let's start from the moment my wife asked me to make the reservation. Being the ancient being that I am, rather than pull up the establishment on Internet Explorer, visiting Bing, and typing "make a reservation for two for a very special evening but nothing too expensive maybe mid-priced but still delicious" like all the other youngfolk would do, I picked up the phone and gave the restaurant a ring. That call was met with a friendly voice from an incredibly helpful person who called herself Sydney, who I've since discovered is the mastermind behind this hidden haunt. Sydney walked me through the menu and, unprompted, offered to make me a menu item for dinner that was normally only on the lunch menu. She was so delightful in our conversation and said things like, "Well, we want you to come here, enjoy your food, and leave happy with what you ate and how you were treated," and I could tell I wasn't just receiving lip service. When my wife and I arrived, we were quickly sat at a cozy table for two, and the preconceptions I had forged before about the dim lighting and artsy atmosphere were quickly snuffed out by just how infectiously joyful the atmosphere was there. Not to mention the theme totally WORKS: the funky mannequin across from the wine, the voguish projector screen at the bar, all the way down to the abiding ceramic Luzerne dinnerware on which guests' meals were being served. The MTK has class and comfort in spades. No date night at a nice restaurant can be superb without superb service, and this is where Hannah comes into the story. She greeted us warmly, efficiently explained the menu's range of options in great detail, and even recognized that I was the extra fellow who asked for a lunch item in the evening. Throughout the meal, Hannah would check on us frequently but not *too* frequently, seeing if we needed refills or to ensure the quality of the provisions being served. She was personable and laughed with us throughout the evening. We'll be requesting her each visit from now on, though I'm sure the rest of the staff are just as outstanding. Now for the food. Oh, the FOOD! What can I say about the food at MTK other than it just simply dismantled the local competition in every way. From the Lite Ya Up Calamari and Virgie's Stuffed Eggs we ordered as appetizers to the Scottish Salmon and the Fresh Catch of the Day (which ended up being a perfectly-cooked halibut), this eatery's cuisine delighted our senses in an almost invasive way. The seasoning on every dish was perfection, the creativity of flavors was jarringly clever, and each unforgettable bite from every product we tried left us embarrassing ourselves with selfish indulgence. The food is quite good. I hope I've made that clear enough. Of the two trips my wife and I have made to Marfa Texas Kitchen, what has stood out the most to us, amidst a sea of blog-worthy successes, is the care that the entire staff shows for its guests. Everyone from the friendly hostess to the can't-possibly-pay-her-enough server, Hannah, to who we assumed was the restaurant manager and the owner, Sydney. I've already preached this into the ground, so I'll conclude with a final word of advice for local meal-seekers: Go try Marfa Texas Kitchen. Immediately! You'll be so glad you did.
Professional chef from Delaware- the best meal I had while visiting family in college station was from Marfa- excellent service, simple but tastefully executed menu. Excellent quality for the price. So wonderful that we ordered food to go to share with our family that couldn’t make the dinner plans.
Marfa Texas Kitchen has great dishes and a fun new high-end restaurant in College Station. They have different menus for lunch and dinner; I guess I’ll have to be back for lunch. We got the fig & goat as an app which was great. I would have preferred it on crunchy slices of bread instead of crustini but it was good. We also got the Scottish Salmon, Ruffino’s 10oz and chicken fried steak. Go check out Marfa Texas Kitchen.
1st timer & very pleased with our experience! Service was professional, friendly & knowledgeable. The food was served quickly, it was fresh & really tasty. The decor is simple & provides a relaxed atmosphere. Taco choices are impressive! Give Marfa Texas Kitchen a shot - you won’t be disappointed!
really great concept, beautiful dining room, and food is pretty consistently high quality...college station doesn't usually get good restaurants...class of 1991...happy to see this place in all of the less than development that has happened.
Took a risk and asked AI to recommend a place I haven't been to and scored a win. The atmosphere is of a small intimate artisan venue with smells of wonderful food in the air. The staff was friendly and answered all my questions and provided service without hesitation even when I have to admit seemed simply neanderthal and thoughtless. The food was tasteful and enjoyable and will more than likely call for a second trip to explore the menu a bit deeper. A good experience.
This place gets 5 stars for sure. Very fresh food. Visually appetizing as well. Service is unobtrusive. Definite go to.
Excellent service, prompt attention, excellent air conditioning. Wait staff wears very nice, practical uniforms in different colors. Menu is one two sided page, perfect ! Healthy choices.
An off the beaten path GEM in College Station! Get off University Blvd and away from the main drag and check out this place. I had the brisket burger, wife had the fried shrimp, and my daughter had the salmon. My goodness! My burger was unbelievably delicious and my wife’s fried shrimp was SO good. I didn’t try the salmon but my daughter said it was delicious. Please try this place. It’s a little more upscale than your average college town restaurant so great place for parents to go eat after a game or a visit with your babies!
Sat on the patio with live music, cool breeze, very nice. Food was a bit pricey, but portions are ample and very tasty. We had the shrimp & grits and the thunderbird (chicken, beans, corn)—both unique spins on these dishes. The table next to us ordered a chocolate sheet cake that looked delicious! Fine, friendly service.
Grace was a really nice waitress and the host was great too, opening the door for us and being extremely friendly! I ordered a $9 Pretty in Pink mocktail that was delicious and had a great presentation with a big bubble on top. The chicken sandwich was filling and delicious, while still affordable. The salty chicken, sweet slaw, and nice simple fries made it a great meal. I would definitely come back!
I had the Pistachio Chicken Fried Steak with Jalapeño Gravy and let me just say—once I saw those words on the menu, it was game over. Menu closed. This is hands down one of the most creative and delicious takes on a Texas classic I’ve ever had.
The entire staff were very polite and attentive. I only ordered tea as we were shipwrecked in College Station, awaiting my company truck tire repair at the local tire shop. The food looked and smelled amazing and if we're ever visiting CS again, we're coming here for lunch, FOR SURE! The tea was great, BTW. Thanks Marfa staff!
As a business owner, I truly appreciate quality, and Marfa’s Texas Kitchen delivers exactly that. My wife, our daughter, and I visited for the first time, and the experience exceeded our expectations. The food was outstanding, the staff was welcoming and attentive, and the overall atmosphere was excellent. While it is a bit on the higher end price-wise, you absolutely get what you pay for—and it’s worth every penny. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience.
Food and Drinks were Great! Sarah was wonderful and we had a great time catching up with friends. Chicken Fried Steak was very tasty! Fried Green Tomatoes were Great. We will definitely be back!
Food was great. Started with fig and goat cheese (excellent). The pistachios were a nice salty touch. Would recommend. Then had the calamari. Very good and served with a spicy sauce. Asian style calamari. Nice touch. Coconut shrimp tacos were great. The beans as the side is also a nice kick. The chicken fried steak sandwich was delicious and the scratch made fried onions on top really pop. Delicious sandwich that reminded me of the sandwich you could make after all the Thanksgiving leftovers! Very good would recommend. Only miss is the atmosphere. Shopping center front and the feel of the restaurant doesn’t really align with how good the food is.
This place was awesome, we sat outside because the weather was perfect! We both got the pistachio chicken fried steak with the jalapeño gravy, it was sooooo good, very crispy and not spicy, perfectly made! Nice little hidden gem we found, will return!
If you're looking for a place to enjoy delicious food in a cozy atmosphere, this is the place to visit! I discovered this gem through a booklet recommendation, and I must say I was thoroughly impressed. The menu is simple yet offers a variety of options at very reasonable prices. It's evident that care is put into every dish, as the ingredients are fresh and the flavors are just exquisite. Not only is the food fantastic, but the service was top-notch. The staff members were attentive and friendly, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The interior design and atmosphere of the restaurant added to the overall charm, creating a welcoming and cozy ambiance. I highly recommend Marfa TX Kitchen for anyone looking for a great place to dine. Whether you're looking for a casual lunch or a special dinner, this place has it all.
Visited for Mother’s Day dinner. Located a bit out of town but well worth a visit. Great service, good food (although crispy Brussels Sprouts could have used some seasoning), good drinks menu (would love to see Japanese Sake - rice wine varieties on the menu, to complement the Japanese whiskies), and cool/fresh ambience. A hefty 10 oz Ruffino not shown in photos. Set us back $155 for four persons (2 drinks) including tax and tip.
We were in town for one night and had an absolutely wonderful experience at Marfa Texas Kitchen. Every dish and cocktail was delicious and the presentation was exceptional. We enjoyed the Fig & Goat Cheese app, the halibut special, and the BIG RIB! The service was great and our server was very kind and patient with our questions. The highlight for me was my Lavender Haze cocktail which was unique (love the bubble on top), beautify and tasty.
We went there a few weeks ago. We came in a bit past lunch but they were accommodating of us which was really nice of them. We had the Fig & Goat and the Calamari appetizers. Both perfect. My family all ordered different brisket burgers and I had the Beech Mushroom Tacos (pictured). Everything was delicious! I’m still thinking about those tacos!
Nice place for dinner in College Station! The steak and drinks were very good, as well as the fig and goat cheese appetizer!
The wife and I were on vacation and wanted to check this place out. What a treat! The menu seemed a bit odd, and the restaurant was a bit empty, but I'm glad I stayed. We decided to get a goat cheese and fig appetizer with crackers, which was great. I ordered a bison burger with crawfish on it, and it was amazing. The vegetables were perfect and fresh, the meat perfectly cooked, and the sauce tied the two meats together perfectly. Another thing that knocked it out of the park is their selection of non alcoholic cocktails. My wife is pregnant and can't stand the usual boring drink menus, but they had some great mocktails for her to make her visit enjoyable. The chocolate cake was out of this world. So light and airy but so rich in flavor. A definite thumbs up from me. The only thing that turned me off was the atmosphere. The restaurant is in a strip mall, which is fine, no discrimination there. But the decorations are lacking, and the theme seems confused. Being a West Texan, I'm familiar with Marfa and know it is full of great art and beautiful landscapes. I would love to see more decorations and paintings reflecting this. This being said, the bathrooms are decorated nicely, and they do have a poster of the movie Giant. 10/10 on food and service. Will definitely visit again!
DELICIOUS! What a lovely restaurant. The menu is fantastic. I love meeting with friends here, they always love it!! The menu is seasonal which I love, keeps things fresh! And the drink options are unique. One of my favorite places to eat in town. So yummy!!! Attached some pics from one of my first visits here because I always forget to take more. Love!!
Everything from the hostess to the last bite of dessert was excellent! I had the Bone in Ribeye. Cooked to order. Has a sweetness to the sauce. Was different but very good. My lady had, “The Catch of The Day”. The Halibut was excellent. We had Texas Sheet Cake (Chocolate cake with walnuts). Very moist. Not too sweet.
Exceptional service from start to finish. Our waiter seemed fairly new, but he was honest if he didn’t have an answer to our question and said he would go find out. I ordered the “pink bubble drink” and he made it halfway to our table from the bar and the bubble popped :o he proceeded to go back to the bar and have them remake it for us so that we got the full experience. The menu had many things I wanted to try, so I will definitely be back. Ultimately, I ended up with the chicken fried streak (gravy on the side to prevent soggy breading as the portion side is huge). The flavor was superb and that gravy truly was a show stopper, was scraping the bottom of the bowl by the end. The smashed potatoes had the perfect amount of crisp, and paired perfectly with whatever little serving of orange sauce they make. In the end, no room was saved for dessert, but I can only imagine how good they are. Would recommend to everyone in BCS to go support and visit this place! (Be sure and get a reservation)
So surprised when we walked in. The design and decor was exquisite. Such a bougie place without feeling stuffy. How cool that the drink menu changes with the seasons. Had the fall Campfire Margarita...very tasty with perfect blend of smoky tequila, lime and apple cider. Chopped kale salad with chicken was equally delicious with broccoli, nuts, fruit and lightly seasoned with vinaigrette dressing. Tacos were served with chips and appetizing cowboy caviar. Even the coffee was great served with frothy cream. The breakfast menu looks amazing. Will definitely be back for that. Can't miss with this restaurant!
Care is put into all dishes. Great service and wonderful interior design and atmosphere. High quality ingredients. Great place for solo dining or date. here you see I got the calamari and the pistachio crusted chicken fried steak.
My coworkers and I were passing through College Station for a food stop. Marfa looked like a really great spot to try and we were not disappointed!! The staff is really attentive and the decor really adds an elevated feeling. The portions and pricing are reasonable. I recommend the Lindsey Lou Brisket Burger if you want a creamy kick to your meal. They also have a good variety of mocktails if you plan to hit the road after. Marfa is a very good place to stay and chat a while as well! Would definitely stop by again to try more menu items!

Service was great. Flavorful dishes. Photo is shrimp and grits. It has a hint of spice.
One of the best meals I’ve had. The chicken-fried steak was outstanding—tender, flavorful, and with just a subtle kick from the jalapeños. The portions were generous (we shared a plate, and it was more than enough). We also had the baked brie and the chocolate sheet cake for dessert, both excellent. The service was polished and professional, and the atmosphere felt refined and sophisticated. A must-visit in College Station.
Consistent, Great Atmosphere, and Family-Friendly We’ve been coming to Marfa Texas Kitchen for years, and it’s easily one of our favorite spots. It’s upscale enough to feel like a treat, but comfortable enough that you can truly unwind. A few of our go-to's: • Food: The fig appetizer is a great starter. I usually get Evelyn’s pasta, and my husband likes the salmon or chicken fried steak—both are excellent. • Drinks: Their cocktail menu is fun and delicious. The "Figgin" is my favorite, and the "Lavender Haze" is worth ordering for the presentation alone (it comes with a smoke bubble). • For Kids: They have off-menu items for kids that aren't listed, which makes it a very easy place to bring the whole family. If you’re looking for a reliable spot with great food and a relaxed vibe, this is it.
Service is second to none. We had the best experience for my wife’s birthday and everything was perfect. Food was amazing and the atmosphere was great for our larger group. If you have not been, I highly suggest you give them a try.

Cute restaurant to visit located in a nicer part of College station. Unfortunately, for the price I was expecting a little more flavor with what I had ordered which was the Pistachio crusted chicken fried steak and the tortilla soup. Presentation was great though, everything was super fresh, and the chicken fried steak was huge! I recommend the Texas sheet cake, it was my favorite.
The atmosphere is very cozy and comfy. The wait staff were equally as cozy and friendly. The food was all right but I didn't feel like it reflected the price. The white chocolate cheesecake I had for dessert on the other hand was delicious 😋. With all things considered I think I would bring my wife here or maybe a luncheon with colleagues.

I bought the Big Rib, and my mom and step-dad bought the BBQ Brisket Burger. The food was good, but unfortunately, the portion size was misleading for the Big Rib. I do not believe the server was intentionally trying to mislead us, but she explained that the Big Rib was large enough to last for multiple meals. I am a petite woman who usually can make a standard size meal last for two to three meals. The Big Rib was not the size it was described to us and, in fact, was a single meal size. I will credit this location for its cleanliness, polite and friendly staffing, and deliciously presented food. Unfortunately, the pricing does not match the food portions and value. At the end of the day, you are paying the price for the atmosphere, presentation of your meal, and friendly service. Certainly a place with the potential of growth and popularity, but not a place suggested for frequent dining.
Very loud, but I was seated by the bar. Don't come here unless you have your paycheck in hand from both your primary and secondary jobs. Ice tea is served in 8 oz glasses, repeat 8 oz as in 1 cup, cost $3.50. Not Texas 100 F weather sized. Menu items are on a failed xerox copy in whole $ amounts. A plate of fried shrimp with a grated broccoli salad was $22. That price is just those two items and that is a full meal. It did come with a nice sauce. I was told that a shrimp and scallop dinner would have been $35. They must be buying at some fish market in Houston, because local fish markets, like the HEB across the street would be very fresh and about half the price. Suggested tips start at 18%. I tipped a bit more because the waitress was attentive to a single diner. Might be nice if prices were 30 to 50% lower.
If you want to know what Texas food is like, skip it. This restaurant is a case of something trying to do or say something, but I couldn't for the life of me tell you what it is. Marfa Texas Kitchen (conveniently located only 8 hours away from Marfa, TX) has a vibe that is completely indecipherable. Every aspect of this place is going for a completely different, weird look. Is it Annie Oakley? Is it Paris? Is it Forever 21? Is it Mid-mod upscale fusion? I guess it depends on what part of the room you look at. The menu is doing too much, even though it is short. Many of the dishes are normal fare with something weird and unnecessary done to them. Overall, this restaurant has done a bad job of considering all the aspects of the dining experience. The furniture is uncomfortable, the tables don't fit into the booths, the walkways are too small, and many of the choices, from the cheap plastic grocery store salt and pepper grinders on the table to the IKEA cabinetry at front of house, are confusing given the upscale menu prices. Furthermore, none of the food is what I as a native Texan would consider traditional. The burger was too tall to eat and only tasted like BBQ sauce.
Overall the food we did like was okay. Came on Sunday at 2 on a rainy day. We ordered calamari, frenchie, chicken fried steak and the bison burger. We had an issue with the flavor of the bison burger. It was over cooked and bland. We have had bison before and this was not and new experience and this burger did taste good at all. We told the server we do not care for the burger( only took a bite snd the plate was still intact) she said okay and took the plate. When the bill came the burger was still on the bill. I asked the server since we did not care for the burger and did not eat it as a courtesy can you please remove it(I should not have had to ask). The "manager" came out and said no one told her there was a problem and we should have demanded to speak to a manager and all she can do was to offer us a chocolate cake to "soften the blow" but the owner does not allow items to be discounted. The absurdity of this statement and interaction made a pleasant experience where we wanted to come back for a date night, to where we will not return at all and cannot even recommend it if others asked. In the end the "manager" said she will ask the kitchen manager and they removed it from the bill. If the kitchen manager is the only one with authority then they should be the only one communicating guest of there is an issue.
