TaD's Louisiana Cooking is a popular spot known for its delicious Cajun and seafood dishes, generous portions, and friendly service. Customers rave about the blackened shrimp Alfredo, Jambalaya, crab cakes, and fried oysters. Some find the gumbo too spicy and consistency can vary.

Tip: Appetizers are awesome, especially the crab cakes and seafood sampler. If ordering gumbo, start with a cup as the bowl is a large portion.

I like it. Like how it’s always clean. Easily a top 3 restaurant in the bcs area. I recommend the catfish. Very authentic Louisiana cooking as someone who grew up in Baton Rouge. Great management and hiring
Hubby has been craving Cajun food for some time, specifically alligator. Well, Tad's Louisiana Cooking did not disappoint. The servings are huge. The price worth it. Our server: Alayna was top notch. We'll be back, next time with more people.
We visit Tad's in College Station at least once a week so I can get my Shrimp Quesadilla fix! However, this review is about the great customer service we received in addition to the great food. All of the waitresses are good --they love this place as much as we do. We had Tessa this time taking our order and keeping our glasses full. My husband ordered the Chicken Stuffed Potato with double gravy. Tessa and the manager, Amy went through special effort to make his baked potato PERFECT! I also requested a potato for my older mom and they made sure there was no heat and the chicken was cut smaller for her. All the way home, he bragged on his wonderful "dang!" delicious, rich, fresh, baked potato. I cannot thank them enough, honestly. When restaurant staff take care of your loved ones just as you would do, how can you not feel heartfelt gratitude? Thank you very much, Rosita Daniel
As far as early season crawfish goes, I have had some horror stories. However, in the last 5 years of being back in Texas I have never eaten this quality, taste, and ease of peel this early in a season! Full equal mix of sizes with 7 or 8 monsters I got to the second claw nuckle on! Shout out to the fantastic cook Maria, the girl that took my order on the phone, the fantastic bartender, and whoever trusted their distributor this early in the season!
Alyssa made me feel so welcomed. She took her time going over a few menu items ( I’m a first timer). Pointed out their delicious homemade tartar sauce & their house sauce. She was right they are delicious. I had the catfish bites and the shrimp poboy. Absolutely a 10! I promise you will NOT leave hungry ( actually overstuffed) 😂 I highly recommend. Very clean, prompt and the food was piping hot when served oh and the fries so crispy. Check out their daily specials!
Came here a while ago when my friend Recommended this place. I’m so glad she did because now I have a reason to stop by college station. Our server Brevan was very attentive to our needs, all while providing excellent service. Along with Callie the bartender, who was very knowledgeable about the drink selection. Their portions for both dinner and lunch menu are a great value for the price. I highly recommend this restaurant if you’re ever in college station. Will for sure make time to dine in here whenever I’m in town.
If you’ve seen my reviews, then you know how much my husband and I love our oysters. Y’all I think there’s a new favorite spot! The service was great and the time we went there was very little people, which was not a bad thing. Only small hiccup was waiting for a table when we arrived and had a little wait. We got the broiled oysters and let me tell you, you get your money worth and then some!!! There were 2-3 oyster pieces in ea shell, along with a small shrimp. We got the 1/2 dozen and this was so filling that it was like eating a dozen or even a dozen and half! We thought oysters wasn’t gonna fill us up so we also got the fire cracker shrimp and I liked them, husband wasn’t too excited about them. Lightly battered and some with tail pieces. But let’s just say this was a great place to eat and have a little day date 🥰
I don't know why I waited so long to try this place. I've been eating at Razoo's for my cajun fix but this place is so much better. We started with the Crawfish Queso for an appetizer, it is cheese sauce with bits of crawfish and pickled jalapeno slices served with tortilla chips and it was very good. I had the Crawfish Ettoufee plate, it's a very large serving to help justify the $19 price and comes with a slice of garlic bread. Very good flavor, not too spicy (I added some cajun seasoning from the table) maybe coulda used a bit more gravy but I would order it again. My girlfriend had the Jambalaya plate. It comes with sausage, pork and chicken over rice and a slice of garlic bread. The sausage on this was incredible, very smoky and full of flavor. This plate was entirely too much food for my girlfriend and in hindsight she wished she had gotten the smaller sized portion, but left me with a tasty lunch the following day. I can't wait to come back here and try some of the offerings on the extensive menu. Second trip here and I was not disappointed. The appetizer list is incredible, you could make a meal out of a combination of a couple. My goal is to try them all. This trip I had the Blooming Onion and Shrimp wrapped sausage and the Crawfish two ways for my main course, everything was outstanding.
Everything tasted really good tonight! Best fried oysters I've had in a long time. The staff was very friendly too. Don't waste your time with these other Cajun seafood spots around town in my opinion at least.
When we went. Their was only 4 people in restaurant and that's including my husband & myself. 1st time going there. Alcoholic drink was excellent, Gumbo was too spicy for me, hubby finished it. Believe me when I say order a CUP of gumbo NOT A BOWL. I could have fed the entire restaurant staff with that amount. Of course service was attentive and polite. There were ONLY 4 people there. Lol
Always looking for a new place to eat when we visit College Station. Since I've got Louisiana roots, figured I'd give this a try. Saturday night around 7 pm isn't too busy in the dining area. There's a bar that was booming so I'll have to try that next time. Kathryn(?) was a sweet server. She not only kept us informed with any delays but she provided options when what requested wasn't on the menu. The food is pretty good. The house salad is simple, yet tasty. My blackened red snapper with lemon garlic butter and lump crab meat needed more butter and garlic. I still recommend the dish though. I did enjoy a taste of my hubs grilled catfish. That was very tasty. And the calamari with three sauces was a winner. It was so fresh and well cooked! This appetizer paired well with my Swamp Water. I ended the night with the bread pudding that is served with ice cream. I also had a shot of Frangelico to go with. Overall, I'm looking forward to another visit.
Really good food. Went on a Sunday afternoon and not too busy. The service was ok, but the waitress forgot the salad included red onion, to which I'm allergic to. They took the salad back and the one they brought back still had a little red onion in it, they must've just picked it off. We got their shrimp kabobs as appetizer and they were really flavorful. The grilled catfish was very good. Flavorful and tasted clean and fresh (not muddy). Their side veggies are really good. They grill their veggies which really makes a difference. Their bread pudding is really good too. Will be going back!
We tried this for the first time. I feel it's been open long enough to avoid the crowds. There were still some folks waiting outside for lunch but it wasn't packed --maybe a 5-10 minute wait. The building is very roomy with the bar taking up about 1/3 of the restaurant. It's nice. Our waitress was nice and attentive. My wife and I decided to split an appetizer and get sides -- she got a small salad and I got the Jambalaya bowl. We both enjoyed it, though my soup could have been warmer. We split the seafood appetizer which is alligator, catfish, and popcorn shrimp for $16.99. It was all pretty good though the alligator was my least favorite of the three. While I haven't had alligator in a while, I don't remember it being so chewy (almost like jerky). The catfish was the best, very moist and delicious. It was too much food for my wife and I, actually. We couldn't eat it all but I would certainly try just a catfish plate if I come back.
My first time eating here, I found the food and atmosphere were on par. Only when my credit card charge cleared did I find a problem. The waitress doubled the tip I gave her on the receipt. That amounts to stealing from your customer! I take photos of the merchant copies to have proof, and in 60 years of life and I have never experienced this kind of dishonesty from a restaurant. I spoke with Alyssa who made things right, but no customer should be put in this situation. I encourage you to watch your cleared charges from this place. First impressions are everything, and I won't be doing business here again. Blythe, karma .... this will find you.
We went around 2 pm and we were one of two guest there. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks. Good selection of beers and the bartender made a good martini. The food was average. My crawfish étouffée bowl was dry with lumpy rice. The half a dozen raw oysters were old and tasted stale. The steak was right on with a good cut of meet. For the $99 price tag, it wasn’t the best value for the money.
This is maybe the 3rd time I've tried this place. Overall it's just okay. Food and service is a hit or miss, the consistency is not there. Today I got the stuffed shrimp as appetizer and the red snapper as my main. The shrimp were big and tasty. The fish was a good decent portion but needed a bit of seasoning. The sweet potato fries were good. The house salad was not good it had a few pieces of wilted brown lettuce and 1 of the 2 tomatoes was bruised and going bad.
Extremelydisappointed. I left the establishment after sending back the Ahi Tuna appetizer due to it being extremely salty and having hard prices in it (two pieces were tested). When the paying party returned home they stated that they were still charged for it. I then spoke with Alyssa the manager working the evening of 1/23/26 that same evening. She stated to me that she could look up the ticked and issue a reimbursement. When arriving today to complete this I was told that "half" my plate was eaten and that nothing could be done. I would hope training moving forward allows all parties to be on the same page as to discontinue giving inaccurate information to resolve an issue that now has no resolution.
I would give it a ZERO if possible. The waitress was Awful. Warm oyster on ice. No appetizer plates, 1 fork for 2 people. When asked for appetizer plates got the disgusted side eye & plates were hot for a cold appetizer. Not gonna talk about drinks. The manager just stood there with her arms crossed. No name tags. We paid for the 6 oyster on half shell which only ate 1 because they were Not properly chilled. They were room temperature. 2 glasses of wine that were not drunk. $35 hard lesson to learn about this place. We traveled an hour to try this place. Very Disappointing & will not go back
