Came here for my daughter’s birthday as she always wanted to do the tea and lunch. We did not get to walk around the grounds much or enjoy any of the trails due to the amount of record snow that had fallen in two days before. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambience, the service, and the food and recommend the teatime experience for everyone. What was particularly heartwarming with the amount of mothers and daughters there just to enjoy their time together. So many young children dressed in their princess outfits coming to a castle and being treated like royalty by the staff. Definitely a place to make a child feel very special! Even though the food is bite-size portions, there are enough courses and tea to fill one up. You can take food home so it’s not necessary to over stuff yourself. The scones were amazing as were the desserts.
We were in Colorado Springs earlier this summer and saw the sign for Glen Eyrie Castle, we decided to check it out . We asked the guard at the gate if we could enter just to see the grounds, he was very friendly, we were able to drive around and even go in the castle. It was so beautiful we decided to come back in the fall. We booked a room in the castle, it was the generals room. It was so beautiful and rich in history. There was no television, and the Wi-Fi was spotty, perfect! All the more reason to celebrate just being still, and enjoying the moment . The grounds are beautiful, and we enjoyed seeing the wildlife, bighorn, sheep, wild turkeys, and even heard a great horned owl outside of our window. The breakfast is complementary and was delicious, there were plenty of options. The staff was very informative and friendly as well. There are eight hiking trails and we enjoyed spending time hiking through the rock outcroppings. It was so peaceful and serene. I think we saw one or two people on the trail. We will definitely be back!
The stay was amazing! We stayed in the Castle premiere room & it had such a Victorian vibe that made my wife & I feel like King's & Queen's. The breakfast was delicious. Great customer service.
Note that my review for the Glen Eyrie afternoon tea is separate. This review is specifically for the Glen Eyrie castle, grounds and hiking trails. The castle is cute, not quite the grand ones you see in Europe but might say it’s grand for its (only) kind in Colorado Springs! The drive up to the grounds is scenic. There’s a guard post where you get confirmed for your visit and then are given a day pass to enter the grounds, enjoy the different sites and trek the trails. There is a carriage house to the side of the castle where you have a gift shop and receptionists that give you a map of the grounds and hiking trails. You even sign a waiver before you hike! Went in the canyon rock trail which was rated a moderate trail to hike but highly recommend it if it’s the only one you choose to go on for the day. It’s about a mile up and the views are the best. There are steel wooden slat benches along the way although the modern touch takes away from the ruggedness of the scenery. Wish they were just plain wooden benches! There were a couple of trails that weren’t depicted accurately on the trail map e.g. where one just ended up as a dead end. Overall worth the reservation for afternoon tea to be able to spend time in the grounds and hike the trails. The beauty of it all includes the wild animals that you see on the property like pheasants and mountain goats that just roam. Highly recommended destination!
The Christmas Tea at Glen Eyrie Castle is a favorite holiday tradition for my MIL and I. The castle is beautifully decorated, the menu is delicious and the service is exceptional. We had the added bonus of seeing a herd of rams on the grounds. Highly recommend this unique experience for a lovely and festive afternoon!
We love to tour historical homes and this one was beautiful. I think we enjoyed the grounds surrounding the the castle as much as we did the castle tour. We also found a trail that we hiked that led to some beautiful views. Be sure to purchase tickets ahead as tours fill up fast.
What a beautiful, historic estate. I was researching places to take photos for my daughter's quincenera and found Glen Eyrie. It was absolutely perfect. The small fee was worth access to the outside areas. I just wish we had more time to explore the whole grounds!
Went for a 3-day conference. The accommodations at the cabins were excellent, the area is beautiful and peaceful. The castle is interesting and takes you back in time. A great place to relax. The buffet food was so-so as compared to the last conference in August,2024.
This castle is so beautiful. We went and had girls tea for a birthday and dressed up in dresses. It was snowing but that made it even more beautiful!
Phenomenal vibes! It's a great getaway to experience something that feels like being in another country. We were here only for the afternoon tea, which was delicious. Initially the menu did not sound appetizing at all, but believe it or not, everything was enjoyable. There was nothing I found not good. I only wish they offered Kosher or Halal options, which our waiter had no idea about. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our pescatarian afternoon tea. My only recommendation would be expanding the dietary options, and having the gift shop with more tea-oriented gifts and souvenirs.
My family and I had a lovely tea luncheon experience here. Our seat had a beautiful view and everything was almost perfect. We also enjoyed a stroll around the grounds after. My only critique was the tea. Not my fave but not the worst. It also became watered down after our server added more water to our tea pot. Overall it was a nice experience
I came for afternoon tea and had the most amazing time ! The staff was beyond friendly. The food was very good with unique flavors. The tea selection was wide. It is a fixed menu and we were very happy with the selection of sandwiches etc. The atmosphere was delightful. The views were beautiful from the castle as well.
This castle was magical ✨️ 😍 we went on a week long vacation and this was were we stayed the last half of the trip...I want to come back we loved it so much! Peaceful, no electronics, great breakfast (Egg Benedict, Monte Cristo, pastries) cannot explain enough how Peaceful it was and 10 minutes from garden of the gods.
We stopped and had a delicious hot chocolate, and Ava was so friendly and welcoming. This place is so beautiful. The castle is amazing.
If you want to relax & enjoy life without stress or distractions, spend some time here. I have been here before to tour the castle, but this time I actually stayed for the weekend. Serene, peaceful, beautiful fall color under a Colorado blue sky!
An Uber driver recommended I come here for tea (and to enjoy the scenic castle grounds) and I'm so glad I did! The grounds are absolutely stunning and the staff is incredibly welcoming. I'm a picky eater and wasn't sure if I'd enjoy a prix fixe menu (I've never gone to a tea before). Everything, and I mean everything served was phenomenal! I'm also not much of a tea person so I opted for the French Press Coffee and it was fabulous. After tea I hung around for another couple hours to take in the beauty of my surroundings. This will be a must for all my future trips to Colorado Springs.
There’s no better place to connect with nature and God than the castle. The service is amazing, the view spectacular, and the people you meet there, definitely worth talking to!
We had tea! The food and drinks were phenomenal, the staff were very courteous and helpful. The castle was beautiful! Definitely will come back and recommended to anyone visiting Colorado
My daughter, granddaughter and I decided to go and have afternoon tea. After going over different establishments we picked Glen Eyrie Castle. And it’s was wonderful the drive up was amazing to see the castle. The whole setting was beautiful and the staff was great and the food was delicious? I would definitely go back again and if you want to try something different and fun I would highly recommend a visit.
Had the opportunity to attend the tea hour at Glen Eyrie. It was the first day for their fall menu and it was AMAZING! I hope to be able to spend a night in the future. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable.
Staying in this castle is every girl's dream; no matter age or creed. Lol! The staff here was absolutely wonderful in the location couldn't be more ideal. The pricing is perfection and the castle grounds, trails, and views are a little piece of heaven.
Definitely a little pricey for tea time but very worth it for the experience. They treat everyone so well. They are very accommodating to dietary restrictions. It's typically a set menu but they will adjust if you can't eat something on it. Everything is delicious though. The tea selection is incredible and unique. You get your own full pot to go with the multiple courses of soup, salad, sandwiches, and a mix of savory and sweet pastries. The grounds are gorgeous and you're very likely to see Colorado wildlife.
Our friends were doing volunteer work at the Castle, so we got a private tour. What a fantastic place to see. The grounds are gorgeous, the rock formations are stupendous, and the Castle is a historic relic! Some renovations are currently underway, but there is still plenty to see and enjoy.
This place is amazing! All of the staff members that we have encountered are kind and helpful. We enjoyed the wildlife on the grounds - this place is huge and gorgeous. The buffet breakfast that is served every morning is loaded with different options. So yummy! My husband and I had planned on staying only two nights, but when we got here, we decided to extend our time at Glen Eyrie. Thanks to all of you who make this place so special!
We love going here for their tea! Katie is the absolute best and always makes sure that our Anniversary is special. They have been consistently good over the last 4 years that we have been going there. Thank you for being great! Bring a tea hat if you are attending!
What an adventure! This place is so full of history and beauty. Great herd of big horn sheep live on the property. Expensive for castle rooms, but really worth it. No real food on the property except breakfast, delicious.
What a beautiful, restful place to stay! Walking through the grounds is a magical experience. Breakfast at the castle is unbelievable, both for the quality of the food, and the ambience of the setting! What a treat this stay was for us!
This is truly a very special place. The grounds are beautiful and have some incredible hikes. The staff was also very friendly, but the highlight was probably getting to meet the GM, Dace, on a guided hike. I have never seen a GM who seems to enjoy so much just meeting the guests and making them feel welcome. Love this place
The Madrigal Banquet was amazing! Hats off to all the singers, dancers, and actors. A 100 people from wait staff, cooks, musicians, and lords and ladies allowed for a magical night to come together without a hitch. Well done!
Total peace and tranquility! The view, the beauty, and the hospitality was such a blessing here! Breakfast was very very good and the extensive grounds and trails kept us enchanted for hours. We will be back one day!
I would give it 10 stars if I could! Everything, with the exception of the noise level of the conversations, was fantastic. I'm very sensitive to sensory overload so that's why I said that. The service was excellent, the food was wonderful and the grounds were gorgeous despite the haze of smoke blanketing the city right now due to the wildfires. I absolutely recommend coming here and enjoying yourself. It was about $50 for one person for tea, tax and tip. I believe it's worth every penny!
We had an amazing stay here. The people are friendly, the place is beautiful, and the price is affordable. Very well maintained and inviting grounds. The breakfast buffet was particularly a highlight of our stay. Thank you for making our stay a special one.
We visited the castle for Mother’s Day tea and it was a great time. The grounds of the castle are beautiful and you are able to explore them as part of your visit. During tea our table was located near a window and we got to enjoy our tea with a beautiful view. The selection of tea made it easy for everyone in our group to find something they liked. Everyone in our group got something different and since we each had our own pot we were able to share and try multiple flavors of tea. Some of teas offered are available for purchase at their gift shop. The food menu offered salad, soup, sandwiches and assorted pastries. All of the employees we encountered were friendly, attentive and helpful. At the end we were all gifted home made truffles and a flower. We truly enjoyed our Mother’s Day tea and would recommend tea time at the castle.
High tea at Glen Eyrie Castle was SO fun! My friend and I felt extra fancy enjoying tea in a gorgeous historic castle. The service was amazing and the food was even better. My friend has a gluten allergy, and they did a fantastic job accommodating her, everything was still delicious and beautifully done. The coolest part was the blooming flower tea that opens as it steeps. So neat and yummy! Such a special experience, highly recommend!
Got tea here and it was delicious! Every plate was tasted incredible and the service was great. We were never waiting around or felt rushed. We accidentally went to the wrong castle at first so we were a half hour late. We communicated this to them, and they were very accommodating which we appreciated. Afterwards, we explored the grounds. It's at a beautiful location. Since we went to the other castle in the area first, I am very glad our lunch was located here since the inside dining area was much prettier/more spacious, the castle itself looked much more grand, and it had grounds which were gorgeous and fun to walk around.
Started with the Tea Service and the staff was friendly and food was delicious. Then checked in for our overnight stay and when we got to the castle Mike and Kathy were an absolute delight! They are the heart of our stay. Mike answered any questions we had on the castle or General Palmer. Kathy greeted us every time we came or left and was so great to talk to. Our room was so amazing that we immediately requested another night. The front desk staff was very accommodating. We had to go into another room and we were beyond amazed at the room and the hospitality of the staff and volunteers . We cant wait to come back!
Enjoyed our visit at the Glen Eyrie Castle. Beautiful setting, awesome staff, interesting historical stories. Our tour guide Michael was great. If you get within 100 miles of Colorado Springs, take a detour and go see this amazing place. Buy your tickets before you go. Easy to do online from their website.
We (A party of 9) made a reservation and went to the castle for tea time and had a delightful experience with the service, food, tea, the beautiful view of the mountains, and garden of the Gods that's only a 7 minute drive away. Inside and outside seating is available. Each person gets their own teapot so we each got a different flavor and passed our teapot around; I was impressed with the quality of the teas and the food. My only complaint is that the price was higher than what was stated on the website.
My husband and I stayed 3 days and 2 nights. It was so beautiful and really reminded us why Colorado will always be home, despite living in the desert for the last decade. The breakfast was good, the staff was so friendly and helpful, the views are amazing, the rose garden looked and smelled amazing! I really can't recommend it enough.
Very fun historic place that's important to Colorado Springs. Great castle manor with great views. Tour guide had some issues with directions, and we didn't get to see everything that was promised.
Firstly, the 3 stars are for the overall experience. The afternoon tea was awful. The normal scones were stodgy, the gluten free scones were dry and unpalatable. Some of the pastries tasted like they'd been baked a couple of days before. The price of the tea - $38 per person - wasn't worth it given the quality and portions. The only thing that was decent was the actual fruit and green teas - as long as you keep the tea bag in your cup! For most Brits, the tea will be anemic. They've done a wonderful job restoring Glen Eyrie. What was really off putting was the cult like atmosphere. The video screening before the castle tour was bizarre. To be reminded (about 7 times) in the promo video that the castle is managed and owned by The Navigators, a worldwide Christian organization, is heavy handed. One mention is enough surely? The repeated mentions do feel like an aggressive cult recruitment mission and seriously detract from the enjoyment and appreciation of the castle's diverse and historic past. If the organisers read their Google reviews (and are interested in attracting a more diverse demographic of visitors) really hope they try to be more objective about the actual video compilation they screen to visitors along with what it conveys to first time visitors. Wondering if it's possible for tourists and locals alike to enjoy the castle and the gardens without constant reminders that it also happens to be the HQ of a religious organisation? A more subtle approach would certainly help attract more diverse and returning visitors! We had one server who was really charming and wonderful to talk to and she deserved 5 stars. Gave a 3 star rating for the overpriced, meagre high tea along with the heavy handed propaganda video.
Rooms are congested but clean. There is typical smell in glen view lodge which we didnt like and cancelled our booking for next day. Outside the lodge is excellent park nice castle good breakfast. We are not satisfied with the rooms in the lodge.
Read the entire hotel description before booking. It's a Christian retreat meant for couples working on their marriage. No TV. No dining options for dinner. No alcohol. Great breakfast.
First and foremost, it's a Christian retreat. So if you're looking for that, they have you covered. Now that we have that out of the way... My wonderful lady booked us for a night without knowing it was a Christian retreat, she was interested in the historical aspects of the castle. So first and foremost, there is no alcohol on the premises and is forbidden on site. Second, there are no TVs in the rooms. Third, there is no AC on any rooms in the castle below the third floor, and we stayed on the second floor. There was a makeshift ac which was basically a very loud fan that requires the windows to be open to work and can't be set below 70 degrees (you'll never see it as cool as 70 degrees, our room stayed pretty warm all night until about 5 am when we finally got a couple of hours of sleep). The grounds are beautiful and the staff were all very friendly, it's a gaurded entrance so that is a plus. Dinner was $30 a person, which was a steep price given the fact it's a buffet style and get a choice of two proteins and two greens and one starch. The castle itself is really cool, there's some nice sitting areas when they're not closed off, and this time of year is perfect if you want to go and just sit outside and read a book. and I can't say enough good things about the staff.
Makes no sense to give only one tea flavor per person, and if you want to try another flavor it’s $7. Every other “tea” party event / place gives unlimited tea flavors. They also put the tea bag inside the pot itself… very strange. We were also sat next to a couple with a newborn. The newborn cried about 30% of the time, and they changed their diaper twice IN the dining room. The manager did offer us a discount, but I wish they would have said something to them. Especially since they did it twice… But the food was tasty.
Very cool atmosphere. Feels like you step back in time. Castle and trails were nice. Mainly what we went for. As for the restaurant. It’s a big no for me. It’s basically a tea room with tiny options of bread and pastries with no real menu. No booze. Awkward people. Felt like I was stuck in a cult. All women in dresses that look like table clothes.
We had a nice tour of the castle and the guide told us to enjoy the grounds before we left. My wife and I were taking pictures of Big Horn Sheep when a minivan rolled up on us telling us we needed a photography pass. This wasn't anywhere on our ticket email or the website. I'm disappointed a Christian organization goes for the extra cash grab. I doubt we'll be back for fear of other hidden fees.
Been there on a tour. It left a lot to be desired. We spent a lot of time watching the TV and making a short walk to the castle, and the castle itself is a subpar experience. We only saw 4 rooms in total, all crowded except for the den. The renovation is still ongoing despite the fact that their website states that it’s was going to end in August, so two stories are closed for visiting completely. Most of the remaining part you have to imagine because the rooms are occupied. Though the surroundings are beautiful, I would not recommend going on this tour. For the same price, you can visit the beautiful Miramont Castle in Manitou Springs and have a completely different experience there.
Room was lovely but very loud! Food was terrible! Had to flag down someone for water refill. Not worth the $90 dollars we paid at all! Too many other options in town
It's truly sad what the owners have done with this piece of history. I recently took a tour of the castle in 2025 My most recent tour before that was 2018 and before that 2010. Each time I have gone art and artifacts have been removed. Rooms have been converted into bathrooms, staff closets and "conference rooms". On my previous tours not only were we able to tour more of the castle but it looked like a castle. Now if you dare to step away from the tour guide and look closely at the architecture you can see cheap touch up's and cheap replacements. The tour guide "speech" has also changed. Now they say the home was empty for a period of years in the 1900's and original furniture and artwork was stolen. When I took a tour in 2010 multiple rugs, furniture and artwork were highlighted as being original. Seems to me the truly antique and unique items were sold off and this beautiful castle has been turned into a cash grab hotel.
