Went here for a large family welcome home party. Inviting cozy atmosphere, a true German beer Hall. Excellent service, we were in the main hall mingled around a large table with plenty of room to stand with all our guests. Ordered drinks and appetizers. When it came time for dinner we sat down and ate excellent food served piping hot and served all at the same time, not bit piece. Truly an amazing experience.

This was my first time here and I was very impressed. My server, Mia, was absolutely wonderful. She answered all my questions and gave great recommendations! The timing on everything was perfect. Only praise for the service! The food was good! Management also stopped by for a friendly chat. I will be back!

Oktoberfest at Hofbrauhaus. The iconic potato pancakes are a must try! Pretzel with ‘bier cheese’ is great too. When you visit a Hofbräuhaus location, the dessert is a ‘shotski’. I loved the atmosphere with live music in the background and everyone just having a great time.great customer service.

My favorite was the pretzels (soft and warm) and the chocolate cake dessert. The cucumbers were a bit dried on the garden salad (still tasted pretty good with the dressing). I had the bratwurst dish with the 3 sausages, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes were good. I don't really like the rubbery texture of the sausages (almost like hot dogs, I prefer a less uniform texture inside) and I prefer crunchier more sour sauerkraut (these were very soft and cooked), but I think it's just supposed to be like that, I'm not sure what authentic German food is "supposed" to taste like but I wasnt used to the textures. Overall a nice meal, and good service! The takeout aluminum containers are not too sturdy, they are hard to seal up and food can fall out if you're not careful opening it. Nice setting and decorations, a little on the warmer side upstairs

I had the Dunkel Bourbon Chicken and it was delicious. Dylan was our server and did a very nice job. Great experience overall. Will definitely go back the next time we are in the area.

The restaurant captures the authentic feel of a German beer hall, with its spacious interior lined with long communal tables. Servers dressed in traditional Dirndl carry large beer steins filled with beer, enhancing the lively Bavarian atmosphere. The menu features classic German dishes like Würstl, Schnitzel, and giant pretzels. I had the Bratwurst and a Hefeweizen—the sausage was tender and juicy, full of flavor. The sauerkraut added the perfect tang to balance out the richness of the meat. It was a thoroughly enjoyable dinner experience.

Walked in on a convivial Tuesday afternoon, not expecting much, but it was excellent. We happened to be here during the three months of October so got to enjoy a specific brew. Accordion accompaniment was unexpected but absolutely pushed this up to a five star experience.

100% coming back here again when I am in Columbus! The food was flavorful and hot coming to the table. The waitresses were kind and fun. The price point seems fair to me for what’s offered in quality and portions. The dining environment is open, so it could have the potential to be on the louder side but for how open it is, I would say it’s not unexpected but also did not interfere with conversation at the table.

We had an awesome date night here. The atmosphere fits a lot of different occasions such as friendly get togethers, date nights, family nights, or to watch sports. The staff was friendly and awesome. The ambience was fun and on a Saturday night they had some acoustic music during the CBJ game. As for the food, it was incredible. The gravy was impeccable and very unique. Delicious. Highly recommend this spot for beers and a variety of German classics.

Went to there August beer ceremony. Which is the first Tuesday of every month.food is delicious. Service was fast even though place was packed. I had the opportunity to go a few nights during my stay in Columbus, and its busy every night. With the food and being a brewery can never go wrong. Giant bar area. Outdoor sitting area. Even have a parking garage. Even if you dont like beer the food and crowd is an experience like no other. Music was like being in Deutschland, people of all ages kids to grandparents dancing having a great time.

This place is always pretty solid. We only came for lunch so there wasnt many people. I had the pork shank and the bratwurst chili. I really enjoyed the chili. We also had the sampler appetizer and i really enjoyed the potato pancakes. Service was awesome. I was first of my party so the waitress sat with me and we chatted about the menu and what is the best food and what not.

We stopped for lunch on a Saturday while staying at a nearby hotel. My husband had the Reuben with fries and I had the broiled shrimp and broccoli. Both were delicious!! My husband also had a beer which was cold and served in a textured mug. Service was friendly and prompt. The restrooms were clean. Would love to come back sometime for dinner!

I felt as if I was back in Germany... Food was fantastic!!! No doubt about that. We sat at the bar and the staff was incredibly helpful and attentive. They guided us through the beers and provided samples as well to help. The restrooms were so clean! The atmosphere was fantastic. Will definitely return!!

This place has it all. Great food, service, and atmosphere. The beer was cold and fresh. We got the appetizer platter and a few glazed dishes. The burgers were a delicious surprise. The benches could be more comfortable but hey it’s a brew house. I’ll definitely be back.

Amazing German Experience! Beers are made in house and you can get your own steins to keep on premise of wanting to. Nice menu with a wide variety of items to select from! We had the bourbon glazed Salmon with Mashed Potatoes & vegetable medley. Our guest had other dishes. Dinner came to us within 15 min or less! Our server was helpful recommending items. Unique upstairs party area as well. Stop by the gift shop!

Who doesn't love a German pretzel and a large beer?? Hofbrauhaus never disappoints, the food is always great and the atmosphere almost transforms you somewhere else. The main setting area is hall dinning style so you are seated with other people. Service is great and food comes in a reasonable time frame. We have been regulars for years. Highly recommend checking this place out! Don't leave without eating Bavarian cream puff!!

Hofbräuhaus has a perfect vibe to have great beers both inside and outside. Visited few times since 2019. I was never disappointed. I dare claim their beers are the best in town. I especially love their larger. Sometimes, we also had some foods here like a pork shank and schnizels. They will never disappoint you. Really great place to hang out with your family&friends. Servers are always welcoming and attentive.

Love this German restaurant!!! It really brought back memories of my time spent living in Wiesbaden Germany, visiting local beer halls like Hofbrauhaus. First of all the beer's fantastic, I had the pilsner and the dunkel and both were great, though I personally prefer the pilsner a lot more. The food is extremely authentic, had the braided pork knuckle, the sausage platter, and cream puff. Everything's amazing! Will definitely recommend and visit again!

This place felt like I was back in Germany for sure. Such good food, and of course, the beer is always good. You can't go wrong with any choice here. Prost!

We were in town for a visit and made dinner reservations for a Friday night. We were seated right away. Our server brought our drinks, my beer was great (and huge!). The food was so good. I ordered the Bauern Schnitzel and it was amazing. The German potato salad and cabbage were great on the side. For dessert I had the Apple Strudel and that was a tasty treat. Our only disappointment was there was no band. It was a truly magnificent meal and I look forward to stopping by again.

Stopped in for dinner before our concert on a Friday night, and it was just starting to get busy. We were seated at a long table near the stage where a couple were playing live music in celebration of Oktoberfest. We shared the Yard sample platter to try a bit of everything and shared the Munich Sampler entree for the combo of schnitzel and wurst. The drinks and food were delicious, and we were sure to take two cream puffs to go for later. We'll definitely be back again!

We really enjoyed our experience! The restaurant was nice and though a lot of people were there it didn’t feel super crowded. The service was also super good. Our server was very attentive and professional. The appetizers and dessert were the best part but I can’t complain about the entrees either.

Very authentic atmosphere with great food and people. Looking for a change of pace from the usual, this is just the place. Have a large group, no problem. Plenty of free and convenient parking.

K

Excellent food, fun decor. Live music was fun. They had hockey on the tv's (thank you!), families, couples, ladies/bro night groups all were present. Cream Puffs are the best in the city for sure. Update- Excellent service on 9-23-17. It was jam packed, including patio, but atmosphere was great, family from out of town are in love. More pics added.

If you're looking for a pet friendly restaurant, this is your place. The staff is great with animals and made sure that they each had their own bowl of water. The food we ordered was delicious and they are generous with the portion size and next time I'm in town, I'm definitely making a stop here for lunch. This restaurant has won many awards for the food they serve.

THE BEST and most authentic German beer in Ohio! Excellent German food as well. The bar and wait staff are exceptional. The superb management team has created a fun, festive, cozy Bavarian atmosphere, and the beer hall, beirgarten, bars, event spaces, and restrooms are well maintained and impeccably clean. My absolute favorite establishment in Columbus!

My family and I went here to have some dinner and it was a great experience. It was a bit noisy but the food was delicious and service was quick. Everything was amazing but we were just too full to finish it all.

The only downside is that this restaurant is seriously noisy during the busy times. The food is good and interesting. There's a lot on the menu I don't see every day. The salads are good. The salmon is great. The potato salad and onion rings are excellent. The house beers are very good. I do not recommend the half chicken, it's very plain. The price is very good for the quality and quantity of food I get. I eat here regularly and the staff are friendly and personable. They remember me and always make me feel welcome. Turnover is very low. Other than the noise, the only other issue is that parking close is sometimes hard to do. I've always been able to find a spot, but sometimes it's a trek. The decor is nice and unique. The gift shop has some fun things in it. I've taken friends out to eat here and it's been a good time. It's a place to take some time and relax. It's not a place to go if you are in a hurry and simply looking for quick bite.

My husband and I visited Hofbrauhaus Columbus Brewery and restaurant the evening after my mother’s funeral. The staff, including the manager, bartenders, kitchen staff and servers were all so genuinely kind and compassionate. The food, and service is off the charts. The atmosphere is so cozy and inviting. Hofbrauhaus truly is a five star restaurant that we will certainly visit often in the future. Thank you Hofbrauhaus Columbus, from the bottom of my heart. Diane Elek

We took my mom for her birthday today. The expectations were high given the good reputation and how long the restaurant has been around. We were not disappointed. Our server was Mekenzie A. and she was everything you want in a server. Timely, efficient, courteous, and pleasant. Service was 10/10 and all done with a beautiful smile. The food was perfect, zero complaints. I generally prefer my pork to be slightly less well done but it was still fantastic. The breading on everything was amazing and the potato pancakes are ADDICTIVE. I should've ordered some to go. All of the dips are great. The Dill Pickles are so good and the Reuben Balls were very unique and distinct. Our order was the Yard Sampler for an appetizer followed by a Jäger Spätzle, Philly Cheesesteak, and Schnitzel Wiener Art. The Yard Sampler especially stood out, each item seems carefully selected and it impressed me that every single item was cooked perfectly. I can't critique it. The flavors and taste were on the money. Most surprisingly, the fries. Holy. They were so good, easily the best we've ever had. I'll be back just for those. The spices and herbs are perfect. I really can't believe that because I was expecting the other dishes to stand out more than fries but the fries are that good. I ordered an Original 1/2 Liter and then took a Festbier to go. I've had the Original before and it was very nice. But the Festbier is incredible. So freaking tasty. And fresh. The can is cool, too. The atmosphere was very welcoming and open. Beautiful woods and fixtures. You can see a lot of the inner workings of the restaurant which I enjoyed. One of the coolest bars I've ever been to, definitely unique for Columbus. There really isn't anything you can say about this place that is negative. 10/10. Food was piping hot and delicious. Thanks for a nice birthday lunch for my mom.

Absolutely awesome! The food, the service, the atmosphere, the customer service, the beer all of it was amazing. The General Manager Josh is wonderful, he is personable, professional and kind, his customer service is impeccable. The food selection was great for everyone. My diet of choice is pescatarian and I was so impressed with the Beet Apple goat cheese salad with the Salmon “chefs kiss” 😘 In the excitement of all the delicious options I selfishly ordered the nachos not realizing it had meat and Josh made me my own personal order w/o meat. We had such a great time for my husband’s pre-birthday. 🥰☺️

This place is so fun and live! Unbeknownst to us, we came after Oktoberfest weekend and they were celebrating Oktoberfest in Grandview for the next 3 weeks. Our group of 20 enjoyed the live music and performances. I enjoyed the atmosphere more than the food. The food doesn’t have a lot of flavor; I had the Cajun pretzel bites and the Bavarian Schnitzel (pictured)…the meat and vegetables needed more seasoning but the mashed potatoes were perfect. I guess this is a place you go for the beer and the atmosphere, not really the food.

Didnt start off great. Put in reservations a month in advance with a seating request (no booth would like a table). When we arrive, yup, booth. After a little scramble, they got us moved. Outside of that, great time. Food was spot on. Prices were reasonable. Loved the atmosphere...very welcoming and fun. Service was a little behind but in all fair ess they were very busy. We enjoyed ourselves and will be back for sure. I would recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

I've been to this location before while on a business trip and it hasn't changed much in 5 years. That's a good thing in my opinion! Although the food is good, it doesn't rank up there with other German places I've been to in other states. The atmosphere is great and the service could have been faster but I wasn't waiting for an excessive amount of time. The seating is hard wood, bench style seating and NOT comfortable if you have back issues.

Very nice German restaurant in town, limited options for vegan/vegetarian but very good. I had a lunch of beet 🫜 salad and vegan burger with fries that was nice.

The restaurant design looks comfortable, open, bright and smooth. The male catering staff was friendly and communicative, and asked us many times if we needed other catering services or if we had any needs. We have traveled to many states in the United States and visited many German restaurants. We are satisfied and happy to eat here at HB. The food here is delicious and authentic, we like it. We ordered beer, coke, and juice. We liked the beer, it was quite nice and refreshing, because tomorrow we will leave Ohio and return to New York, otherwise we should buy a few bottles of beer to drink in the summer.

We came in for a Saturday evening dinner with reservations, and got seated quick. Good food, great beer! We got the Hofbrau Original beer, an order of bratwurst, and the pretzel ham and cheese sandwich. However, there wasn't any live entertainment, and our waiter seemed to forget about us after the food was brought out. Not a huge deal but we had a much better experience at the Pittsburgh location last year. Still a good place to come and get the German experience.

The food and service was good. It's such a good place to drink as much beer as I wanted while I was staying in the Courtyard OSU hotel just next door. Just be aware the noise level of the indoor seatings was very very loud. For those who doesn't like noisy place, you may need to sit outdoor seating.

Dinner was good. The Reuben balls as an appetizer were our favorite. Live music made a nice atmosphere. The food came out pretty quick, but our waitress was busy and it took a while between sitting down, then ordering drinks, appetizers, and then dinner. Kids meals were great and came with a drink and fun straw that they loved. Overall, a nice dinner.

It is a unique restaurant in Columbus. I came here several times and like their atmosphere full of Germany elements. There are live shows singing German country style songs. It has a wild vibe during game days. Their food tastes not bad and authentic but lower than what I expected. German food is too sour for me. Their huge brewing equipments are attractive in the background. The pork shank tastes better than sausages! Servers are very friendly with lovely suits. The lager is refreshing and the German mashed potato is perfect!

First time here and definitely order the pork shark (only available on the weekends) I also tried the sausage dish and that was SO GOOD!! Just wish our food would come faster when there hardly any tables.

We reserved this place for a party of three ( we both, and my mum) to celebrate a special night. It’s was kinda celebratory, so my mum wanted Champaign! Otherwise, of course nobody drinks Champaign in a German restaurant and brewery. So I won’t be judging the place by it’s Champaign. The Champaign was run of mill, just a usual, cheap one. We didn’t order any appetisers. My mum got a salad with salmon. That was fantastic. The raspberry poppy dressing was the key. I wish the salmon would have been bigger. The piece of salmon was not very promising, portion wise. Otherwise, the salad was fresh and the ingredients were all top. We both ordered our staple at any German/ Bavarian place - schnitzel. We both shared a single platter. The schnitzel was fresh, hot, and juicy- topped with some mushroom gravy, and fried onion. Can’t be better! The sides were some potatoes and cabbage. Portion wise it was pretty decent for two Persons. We love it. In dessert, we got a Black Forest cake. It was good too. The cake was moist, and tasty. I love the way they decorated it. Overall, the service was a little slow. The server girl was nice. We sat inside, but there was provisions for outdoor sitting as well.

September 2025 What a l9vely spot for beer song and polka! The guy with the accordion was very good! The food was very simple and lacking German precision. The pork knuckles dis not have crispy skin on it. Low quality mustard, but very good pretzels. Low quality deserts. Of course, great variety of beers! Very good. Our service was terrible all around.

N

Very good German Bavarian food and drinks. A nice variety of traditional dishes with a vast selection of draft beers to wash down down the delicious food. Definitely worth trying if you’re in the Columbus area plus they have entertainment!

UPDATE: We went back to Hofbrauhaus for a birthday dinner and it was disastrous. Service was subpar. The waitress forgot my meal. By the time my dinner arrived, everyone had finished. There was no apology and no offer to comp. The bourbon chicken was plated nicely, but the chicken was hard and dry. The pork shank was decent, but the service so bad that we suggest avoiding this restaurant. My original review remains below: I was torn on a rating for Hofbrauhaus. The experience is worth a visit, so I gave it a four on that count. The menu has some German cuisine that I remember my grandparents preparing when I was young. We tried a number of dishes that were milder than I expected. That might be intentional to appeal to a broader consumer base. The food was ok, but I don’t have any specific recommendations.

TL;DR Don't eat here, go to Schmidt's or Valters if you want German food nearby. I haven't eaten here in 8 years but the food and service have gone significantly downhill. We had gift cards from Christmas and so the meal was basically free but most of the food was inedible. Schnitzel wasn't seasoned and was soggy, all fried foods tasted freezer burnt... Fried cabbage was cold and congealed, Reuben was not warm and cheese wasn't melted. We asked for a manager twice but they weren't available, we paid and left. Again, the meal was largely free thanks to gift cards, but don't come here and put yourself through the misery of having to eat this food.

Music and service was great. Was kind of too loud to talk to others at our table. Our extended family went and the overall experience of the actual food wasn't good. Everything was pretty bland and very disappointing. Would not go back.

I have visited Hofbräuhaus in the past and had a positive experience; however, those visits were on very slow days. Unfortunately, my most recent experience made it clear that the staff struggles to handle busy periods and customer service suffers as a result. My husband and I went on Saturday, 01/03/2026, around 5:00 PM, and we didn’t even make it past the hostess stand before problems began. We requested a table for two and were told there would be a 20-minute wait. I provided my phone number, but they did not ask for my name and said we would receive a text when our table was ready. After waiting, I noticed multiple parties who arrived after us being seated. Nearly 50 minutes passed before I returned to the hostess stand to ask what was going on. The two hostesses told me they had attempted to send a text, but their system showed an error and implied the issue was with my phone. To clarify, my husband texted me on the spot to show my phone was working perfectly. I then asked if there were alternative ways to notify guests—such as a phone call—when the system shows an error. The response was dismissive; they insisted the system had worked all night for everyone else and that it was essentially not their problem. To make matters worse, after already waiting more than double the quoted time and being met with rude attitudes, I was told we would need to wait another 30 minutes and that nothing could be done. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told there was no manager available, which was clearly untrue. It was also difficult not to notice that the hostesses appeared familiar with some guests who arrived after us and were seated immediately, which raises concerns that our table may have been given away. Overall, the lack of accountability, poor communication, and “deal with it” attitude completely ruined the experience and ensured that my husband and I will not be returning. Very disappointing.
