Cute colonial inn that is older than the revolution! This was a recommendation that came to us by the ranger at the Minute Man monute, which was pretty cool. We came here for lunch and it's definitely more retiree vibe. There was a fancy ladies tea party the room over. You get that charm that comes from the era and area. Loved the food. We ordered the clam chowder, fish and chips and the "inn" burger, and we loved each of our dishes! Would recommend!
We only ate here but the food was good. I ordered the pesto chicken sandwich and my ordered a soup. The bread was good and the sandwich has a lot of flavor. Their fries were well-seasoned and they have a decent selection of beer. The colonial atmosphere was greatly immersing and charming.
Absolutely beautiful!! The staff is wonderful and so welcoming! Another plus that they accommodate pups! We will definitely be adding Colonial Inn to a place we would stay again!
What a spectacular place—full of history, flavor, and warm hospitality. The building itself is worth a visit: charming, historic, and beautifully preserved. And if that weren’t enough, it’s perfectly located in one of the most picturesque areas of Concord. We came for the restaurant, which was excellent, but this place is much more than just a place to eat. It’s also a hotel, and now we know—we’ll definitely be coming back, even if it means going out of our way. This is the kind of spot you come to not just for lunch, but to stay and soak in the experience. This is a solid 6 out of 5.
The lady at the front desk was very friendly, patient and helpful, making me feel like I was back home. Although it is a century-old hotel, the equipment and decoration are still in the newly renovated state. In particular, the bedding is very clean and has a fresh aroma. The food in the restaurant is freshly made. The service is excellent, easy-going, kind and patient. Parking is also very convenient, and there is a bar for entertainment in the evening. I will stay here again, just like returning to a warm home.
Set in a great historical part of our country, there are different things and attractions to vencher to in this area. The inn is very charming and "old school". The food is always delicious and the staff is fantastic and very accommodating. A++
If you want to walk around Concord, the Colonial Inn is the place to stay. Parking in the rear and red, white, and blue buntimg flair welcoming guests. The restaurant was really busy when we arrivd, it was a bit tricky figuing out where to check in. We had an annex room in the Prescott Wing, it was a nicely decorated large room, comfortable beds, and nice bathroom - European Style shower. There are stairs, so be aware. We ate dinner here. We called the front desk to make a reservation. Depending on the time of year, i would recommend reservations.
A stay at the Concord Colonial Inn makes for a great base to explore the many historic sites. The tavern restaurant has excellent food and drink as well! Many book room 24, as it is allegedly haunted. Highly recommended.
We ate at the restaurant. We ordered lunch and the experience was incredible! The service was courteous, prompt, friendly and professional. The food was prepared with excellence, served promptly and was absolutely delicious! The opportunity to eat lunch in the historic downtown of Concord is amazing. It's a great stop to refuel while taking in all the sites.
Our group (professional Santa Clauses from all New England states) needed a centrally located conference space. We were warmly welcomed from the very first phone call, and without asking, were given everything we needed for our program, before, during and after our event. Assigned to the Thoreau Room, the largest, it was set up beautifully (with Christmas linens in March!). Our event coordinator James solved every problem I arrived with - a/v screens, monitors, cords, extra tables and furniture, even our surprise dessert of milk and cookies for the Santas! Our professional development day was successful, because we chose to meet at the Colonial Inn.
We enjoyed the ice cold IPA , the steak and the burger. Prices are also very reasonable
Booking.com is horrible. Thank god for Rohan the manager we were able to get room for the night. What an amazing personality. Him and liery was awesome. Could have been the worst night but they turned into the best. Definitely coming again and for dine in. Thank you so much again.
We ate dinner in the bar. It was enjoyable Good food and good service
The food was great. We sat outside and watched the work go by while we ate
My family took me here for the brunch for my birthday. The food was AMAZING. Everything was great. Prime rib, omelets, melt in your mouth sword fish, garden salads. Too many dinner and breakfast delights to list here. Did I mention shrimp cocktail? 😋
We have breakfast here on Sundays sometimes. Very nice dining rooms, great food and very reasonable prices.
Great place! I’ve never stayed here for an overnight or anything but they have a little tavern bar area in the back that is so cozy and fun. It has a fireplace and is just amazing. The food there is delightful with awesome service. I’ve been here a few times and the food never disappoints. I recently had the chicken pot pie which was so good, I overate for sure! And the mashed potatoes were amazing. Especially as someone who does not like mashed potatoes. Love the vibe and great servers.
I was there to eat a late lunch with friends. We were able to sit outside which was very nice. I loved the history. I had the burger with blue cheese. It was huge! Cooked perfectly and a mix of flavor she the blue cheese crumbles. The service was very good also.
For a busy Easter dinner and the last seating, as well, it was a very nice buffet. There was a carving station and many things to choose from. My favorite was probably the carrot curry soup! The only thing they ran out of was a few desserts; but again, we were in the last seating of the day! Our server had been there since 6am and it was now 5:30 and she was joyful and accommodating! She really made our day! Already thinking of returning next Easter and certainly before that!
This review is for the restaurant. We had dinner on a busy evening around Patriot's Day. Their website doesn't seem to allow dinner reservations and we weren't able to make a reservation by phone, but we swung by around lunchtime and the manager squeezed us in for a dinner reservation. Nice! The building is historic but nicely updated and appointed. Service was friendly and accurate. The kitchen was very quick. Our food arrived as ordered. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The value for food and drinks here is excellent. We had a variety of dishes -- surf, turf, sandiches, apps -- and all were tasty and well prepared. Good and reasonably priced selection of wines and regional beers. The only critiques we have: - The service was a bit slow to take orders and cash out the check. They were very busy so we understand, but we just barely made it to our evening event. Given they were so busy, everything else was great, and they worked with us on the reservation I wouldn't ding a star. Just be prepared to relax over a glass of wine or a beer and take a few extra minutes soaking up the ambience. - The steak was a good cut and perfectly cooked, but be warned, does have a bit of a propane taste (not uncommon for restaurants that aren't dedicated steak restaurants) which was covered up with a sauce. - Parking on site is a bit tight -- have a plan to bail to the town lot a short stroll away and you'll be fine. Come to Colonial Inn for a nice dinner with confidence. We would happily come back.
Stopped in with a friend today for lunch, had exceptional service from Colin and the Manager Scott who helped with moving our table when we had a few too many bees flying around us. Food and drink were very good!
Did not stay the night had dinner and a paranormal tour hosted by Dining with the Dead. The food was delicious and the rooms were comfortable but I don’t feel they are worth the price per night. It is a historic hotel donut may be worth it to some just not to me. Location is great right near the center of Concord with all the shops a short walk. Parking is horrendous.
Everyone at Concord's Colonial Inn was fabulous and helped us have the perfect wedding day! From start to finish, we were in good hands. Anthony was an amazing day of coordinator and so helpful. We worked primarily with Chris Tarris (Director of Sales) throughout the planning process. She brought professionalism and care to every question and helped us craft our special day. The entire staff in every department was superb. The venue allowed us to have the ceremony and reception on site and had rooms for our out of town guests and for us to get ready in. The food was also phenomenal!
My family had an excellent winter stay here. The Prescott Suite was roomy, clean, and perfect for our family of 4. The staff was so friendly and responsive--they came up within minutes when I requested more blankets. The restaurant was outstanding as well. The menu was delicious and varied enough (even the kid menu had multiple options) that we dined there 3 times over our stay! The clam chowder was my favorite. It was a charming building in the perfect location to explore the historic sites nearby. Wish we lived closer so we could visit again!
My stay at Concord’s Colonial Inn was outstanding. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the service was warm and attentive, and the location is perfect. right in the heart of historic Concord. The charm of the inn combined with modern comfort made the experience truly memorable. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the area. 10/10! Additionally, I would like to thank Fugi and his team for exceptional service.
An historic in from 1716 will all the charms. It’s Sunday brunch is quite literally over the top with a full dessert room! It even has rooms that are haunted by ghosts, which are worth requesting! I highly recommend!
The hotel and restaurants are mixed together so to get to your room you're walking by dining rooms and sometimes have to stop short when there is a server coming through. It can be kind of confusing getting to your room from the parking area in the back. We found this charming and made it feel more authentic to the time it was built. The dining rooms are beautiful! I had the pot pie in the tavern and it was delicious and the drinks were strong. We were in room 24. It was very spacious with a comfortable bed and good high pressure hot water. The second night there was a strange bright light in the room and it felt like someone was stroking my hair as I fell asleep. It wasn't scary and just felt comforting.
The Inn itself is ok for one night, but could use just some small upkeep improvements. Wasn't anything that ruined the trip/stay, but things that come with older properties such as this. Rooms were small. Weren't anything to write home about (good or bad). Staff was friendly and helpful. My burger at the restaurant was a little overdone for my tastes, but tasty enough. The highlight was the Boston Cream Pie dessert. All in all, it wasn't a bad place to spend a night in Concord if you're looking to visit the Minutemen sites.
Great historic old in in the heart of downtown Concord. Lots of things to do and see in the area. Room was quiet and comfortable. Recommend.
It was a very humid day of July and we were looking for a cool drink in the shade, couldn’t get to be in the porch so we were offered a table in the back tavern. It was dark and cool, people seemed to be enjoying their time there, the farmhouse board was very delicious, but the drinks felt short, the sangria was mostly water and fruits, than wine and the aperol spritz lacked aperol, it has barely any color. We had to order two shots of aperol to add to the drinks.
Stayed three nights for the 250-yr anniversary of the British battle 4/19. Terrific location, truly vintage inn. Staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the hard-working folks in their small taverns. One negative was non-existent housekeeping; we never saw them. The food was top shelf and reasonably-priced including the drinks. Ample surface parking. Concord, in general, was not much fun: 2/3 of businesses close on the weekends, and very few food and drink options, aside from the inn. Locals seemed annoyed with visitors
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Concord's Colonial Inn restaurant with Dr. Nancy and Lakshmi , and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The ambiance of the inn is warm and inviting, making it the perfect setting for a lovely meal and good conversation. We started with some appetizers, which were flavorful and beautifully presented. However, the highlight for me was the Alcott dish—it was absolutely delicious! The combination of flavors was impressive, and every bite was a joy. I highly recommend Concord's Colonial Inn for anyone looking for a cozy spot with great food. I can’t wait to return and try more dishes!
May 1, 2024 : Day Two of my East Coast trip : This was planned to stay in a haunted room in a haunted old hotel. While the bestie and I didn't get to experience anything spooky, it was an amazing place. I'm currently updating all my reviews. Thank you for your patience and check back soon!
We stayed here over a weekend for a memorial service. The hotel was wonderful for hosting our event - everything went smoothly and we were well taken care of. The buffet dinner they brought us was good and the right amount of food. Plenty of parking in back plus an overflow lot. The rooms themselves were fine. The front desk staff were helpful. My only real annoyance was that they didn't even offer housekeeping services until the 3rd day of your stay. Maybe it's due to a staff shortage. There's complimentary tea and coffee but breakfast (additional charge) only offered on weekends. It's in a good location, right in the center of town.
Very plain room that felt like I was second class because it was down a flight of very shabby stairs from the main level. And The Passage through the hotel to get to those shabby stairs was convoluted and passed a number of serving areas. The room was adequate. There was a constant sound of running water that I alerted the people at the front desk to but it wasn't addressed. It wasn't my toilet running but it seemed like it was a nearby toilet running. Some water was running somewhere. It was a stop and start sound so when I went to sleep I just put the other pillow on my ear and it was not an issue. But is that what I expect from a decent hotel? Not what I expect.
We stayed in a king sized bed room in the historic part of the inn. The room was large, had a desk, dresser, closet, a few armchairs and a huge bathroom (small shower though). We loved the charm of staying in a historic inn. The food in the tavern was fine, not bad not great, we ate elsewhere on the second night. Some of the front desk staff were helpful and friendly, others were not unfriendly, just not eager/enthusiastic. There’s a great coffee machine that makes espresso and cappuccino in the morning. I was disappointed breakfast isn’t included but overall we had a good stay and would definitely come back.
We had lunch at the restaurant. Service was good; slow but steady. Food was ok, just your regular American fare. To be honest, I wasn't expecting anything else. I suspect most people eat there to experience the historic setting, which is truly amazing.
We had a quick lunch there with my wife. What a pleasant and historic environment. Truly enjoyed the lunch, will be back again with our friends!
Nice for nostalgia but we were disappointed that the room did not look anything like the rooms shown on the website. The heat did not work so we had to plug in a portable heater. Bed seemed comfy & the restaurant was good. Also appreciated the bottled water at the front desk. A little concerned about the stain on the sheets when we woke up...bed bugs?
I met friends for breakfast, did not stayat the hotel. The waitress was kind, but she took forever to take our breakfast order, the food was just OK and took forever to arrive.
Overall it was decent. We came there after a hike. The room itself had equipment malfunctioning so we asked for someone to fix it. It was the shower/ tub and they moved us to another room.. That room had issues with the a/c unit but we were exhausted so we didn't say anything. The food is fantastic and we had the best service. Overall needs updating but wasn't too bad. Probably wouldn't stay there again.
Service is great. As there is no elevator Butz helped us up the 2 flights of stairs to our room. Floors are slanted and walking is uneven. No continual breakfast. No where in our bathroom to place bathroom stuff except the floor. Very small bathroom towels. Terrible. Not worth the money.
The staff has no clue whatsoever about anything. The rooms do not have a frig or microwave (unless you do a special room (ghost room). The restaurant there does not serve breakfast but the hotel staff does not seem to be aware of that. It was in a great location to walk to places of interest. You go through an obstacle and restaurant area to get to rooms. Signs are misleading or non existent as to where to go. It was a hot mess. I do NOT recommend!! I could so make this place a lot better. It wouldn't take much. Not certain why the owner/manager doesn't see what to do.
We were visiting New England from the desert Southwest. Friends that grew up in the Boston area recommended we visit Concord and stay at the Colonial Inn. Well, if not for its "Colonial History" this hotel would not be a place we would recommend. We arrived early and were helped out by a young man that checked us in early and gave us a room in the Prescott Wing. That was good. Our room was probably remodeled in the last 10 years but it was very small and quite spartan. The location was on Concord's monument square and a 5 minute walk to the quaint downtown. That was good also. Our friends suggested we dine at the Inn. After settling into our room we asked about the dining room and it was suggested that we make a dinner reservation which we did for the "Liberty Dining Room." That evening, we walked from our room to the restaurant podium at our reservation time (one hostess for the two dining rooms) and stated we had a reservation for the Liberty dining room (in the historic part of the Inn). The hostess then told us "we don't take reservations for a specific dining room." She then, ignoring our dining preference, got menus and started walking us back to the Market Dinning Room saying the menu is the same in both restaurants. I responded that we are hotel guests, made the reservation as the afternoon host asked which dining room would we like we specified the Liberty dining room. I then politely said she could either seat us in the dining room requested or we can go elsewhere and explain the situation to management. In a huff she took us to the Liberty dining room. In retrospect we would probably had been better off eating somewhere else. I ordered the clam chowder that was good but not as hot as it should have been, also my wife's squash soup was not as hot as it should have been. Her chicken pot pie was good. I ordered one of the night's specials, a salmon burger and sweet potato fries. The salmon burger came on a very large bun with a chipotle pepper sauce that I must have missed on the menu. It was awful. There were a lot of fries, about 30% were the bits and pieces from the bottom of a bag and were cooked to a dark brown (nearly burnt). The remaking fries were not very good, oily and also over cooked. Needless to say this was a very disappointing visit.
I stayed here for a long weekend as part of a group trip. I did not know in advance that: 1) There is no elevator 2) There are no mini-fridges in the rooms 3) There is no breakfast (despite what the Google amenities say at present) 4) There is no housekeeping for the rooms 5) There is no soundproofing - noise from the room next door was as clear as if they were in my room 6) The wifi signal is better in the basement than it was in my room Thankfully for me, the employee who was by far the nicest and most helpful during my entire stay happened to be working when I checked in and he offered to carry my suitcase upstairs for me. Other people in the group said they had to carry their own luggage. My other longest interaction with staff was much less pleasant. I arrived back at the hotel at the same time as someone else arrived with their luggage. I held the door open for the man and followed him in to reception where I wanted to ask a question. For at least five minutes the two employees at the front desk interacted with the man or did their own thing despite my standing there looking back and forth between them. Finally one of them started to leave the room and I stopped him and asked if I could ask him a quick question. Then both employees (both men) said in surprise, "You're not together?" That's when I realized that they thought I was the partner of the person who was checking in and that I had said nothing (to the guest nor them) the entire time "we" were checking in. If the employees had directly addressed me they would have realized their error, but when they thought I was the partner, they apparently didn't think I was worth talking to at all. I've traveled to many countries and this was the most sexist treatment I've ever received at any hotel anywhere. Lastly, someone else in our group had requested a room with two beds, which the hotel didn't give them. Instead they gave a two-bed room to me, who hadn't requested one. Unfortunately we didn't find out about this until the last day or we would have swapped on our own.
It.Is.Old. Pros - room is clean - location is in the town center - neighbourhood shops are fantastic - mattress, pillow and bedding are super clean Cons - everything is tilted, door, floor, stairs, sink, vanity space above the sink and because they are old, your every move in the room can be heard. - maze-like structure: there is no lift, and the 3 floors are sectioned into many different paths. It’s easy to get lost and going from the parking to rooms 2-14 could seem like an never ending maze with staircases. - no breakfast during week day (it’s okay, go to Cafe Nero just down the street, they are great) Overall, we are bias coming from Asia because our hotel expectations are very high. It’s not expensive, for a heritage hotel, the experience is just too raw (they also put a haunted hotel book on the bedside in case you are not scared enough… yes, this colonial inn is featured in it)
Absurdly bad service for the price of the room, spotty internet, and folgers best served at the restaurant . . . I can’t recommend the place. Some of the staff were quite helpful but that seemed more like an oversight than on purpose. If I paid $100-150 for the room I’d feel good about it, but for what they charged ($250) it was just bad.
Booked the room at the last minute. Only room offered was a 2 bed room. Arrived to find a room on the below ground floor next to the busiest intersection in Concord. Car noise all night, interrupted by the noisy wall heater turning off and on. Room size of postage stamp. Only reason not a worse review was a very nice dinner. Eat here, don’t stay here unless you know where your room is!
Colonial Inn ruined a rare date night for special needs parents. For Christmas 2023, I gave my wife a $125 gift certificate for dinner at the Colonial's restaurants. It's very difficult to get babysitters for our children, so we've had one date night in the last two years. Not surprising then that we hadn't used the certificate by early December of 2024. We planned to go finally, but my wife discovered she'd lost the piece of paper with her name and the amount. I talked to someone on the phone and was told, no problem, we'll issue you a new one; pick it up when you can. I still have the email I sent with a copy of my PayPal receipt. It's a bit out of the way, and I forgot to drop by when I was near, but we were driving through Concord a couple of weekends ago (in late April) and we finally stopped by, and unsurprisingly the certificate was nowhere to be found by that point, but the manager I talked to said to call the sales department on a weekday, make a reservation the same day, and just pick up the certificate when we arrived for dinner. I called later, and was finally put through to the right office; they didn't answer, but someone was nice enough to call back later in the afternoon. I relayed her the details on the receipt, and she said she'd look into it. Saturday night, in the middle of dinner, someone finally called me to tell me "We can't replace the gift certificate." He assured me they'd honor it if we found it (not an act of generosity--under Massachusetts law gift certificates can't expire). I've got two problems with this. #1, someone had already told me back in December that Colonial would replace the certificate. #2, I don't like it when someone says "can't" rather than manning up and admitting that the employee or the business has chosen to do or not do something. Even if it's a policy, someone made a deliberate, conscious choice, and it's disingenuous to present that choice as if it were something compelled by physical inability, a mysterious force, or possibly a dark conspiracy. I couldn't even get the guy to respond to my objection that I'd already been told Colonial would replace the certificate. He just kept repeating the sadly obvious untruth that "We can't replace it." I'm unemployed, I wanted to take my wife out for our anniversary, and I really don't need someone to steal my money and then lie about it.
If I could leave a negative star, I would! What a disappointment! We lived in the Concord area 30 years ago and the Colonial Inn and it's restaurant, was the highlight of many family gatherings. But how has this place changed. Starting with some of the front desk staff, who were only mildly interested in answering our question, then being lied to about breakfast (we asked where breakfast would be served on Monday, were told to check in the morning with the hostess, only to find out on Monday morning that there is no breakfast during the week). The TV in the room would not switch on. The hot water faucet in the what they call a bathroom was only producing drops of water, and the noise level with the road right outside was the killer of any attempt of sleeping. Our hopes that at least the restaurant would bring some consolation, but unfortunately, that dining experience with a steak, ordered rare, delivered well done, was not acceptable. The waitstaff was hopelessly overwhelmed, with only one waitress serving the entire place taking orders, while three others sat in an adjacent meeting room, having a good time. Our attempt to speak with the manager at check out, was also denied, respectively ignored. We are still waiting for the promised return call.
Although the staff was very friendly when I booked this. I should have been informed that they were doing renovations and had limited kitchen and dining areas. And also, when I saw the pictures of the room online, when I picked it out. It was not what I expected when we walked in. It was a tiny little room in like a modern version section. The pictures online show an old style bed and breakfast, which is what we wanted. We got there. Our remote didn't work for the TV. And then the next day we didn't have water for a little while. I'm very disappointed but I do want to make sure that I say that the staff was very friendly.
