Great roadside diner by I-5. So easy to pull over for a solid meal with a hometown feel, once you're inside. Troy took such good care of us this morning. Welcoming, relaxed setting with lots of regulars and folks passing through.
Good food, and they go out of their way to make sure the customer is satisfied, even when they might be out of certain things due to current product shortages. Also, if you're trying to avoid sugary drinks, they have seltzer / soda water available as a drink option at this specific location. (Tell them it's the button under the root beer if the server doesn't know) Hope they eventually stay open later again, I like them more than Denny's.
Nice place. Homemade cooking. Good service
I did all 5 stars because of Beta Squad not gona lie😂 but still amazing place, been there once
Amazing experience! My family and I went here for lunch, and we were pleasantly surprised at how good the food and service was! We will definitely be back soon.
Some one said this place was closed, its not n the food was great, had the meatloaf, mashed taters, gravy, spicy slaw, garlic bread very good I'll be back now i know it's open
I use to work here and I absolutely loved the soup & salad and the menu entrees! I am not a big buffet person so I never did try it. Most of the waitresses are amazing and quick with their job. They're great people in general.
Warm and inviting is this truck stop cutie💓 ! The evening before my husband and I had dinner at the local casino. We figured casino's always have good food at decent prices...WRONG! The food was horrible, service lousy and the check came to $80.00+ Yikes! But this humble place had great food! We'd gone to Corning for a family reunion. So for dinner it was us and my sister-in-law and her man. Chicken fried chicken was her favorite, her man had the same, I had the phily cheese steak sandwich, yum. I've had real phily cheese steaks in Philadelphia this was very close. When the 4 of us finished dinner, we all remarked how terrific the food was and how responsive the wait staff were. And though the restaurant was busy it wasn't overly loud. We were able to have a lovely conversation and enjoy our evening. And the cost...80.00 with 20% tip. Skip the pretentious casino where you get sand in your clam chowder and dinner salad costs $15.00, and go here where they treat their guests with care and serve great tasting food.
I’m really really impressed by this food. Very tasty, hot fresh. I had the pot roast it taste great mashed potatoes, green beans, extra butter. I do a little hot sauce on it. Very good and my server. ANA was great very attentive. It’s a real nice place. it’s a really like good home cooked food Taste great !!!
I had the best T-bone steak, baked potato and corn here and I also got a salad for free. Great service, very kind staff! Five stars are not enough to describe this place. I highly recommend it! Thank you so much, guys!
Foods pretty good, however the corned beef hash was burnt to hell.
Ordered the burger with jalapenos to go was in and out within 20 mins tasted great burger was gigantic all put together. Thank you!

Payton was very nice to a couple who was road weary! She was helpful in regards to food choices and popular dishes. Very prompt to our needs. Thank you for making us feel at home!
New menu with some prior items no longer offered. Food still very good quality but prices seem higher than necessary.
For being a little diner inside a rest stop market, this food is AMAZING. Troy was our server and he's so sweet and attentive. There's awesome old time historic photos on the walls that were really fun and interesting to look at while we waited for our food (which came out in a very timely fashion) on a scale of ten I'd give this place a 10 for sure! We got the dulce de Leche cake and I highly recommend trying it if you make this a stop. LOVE THIS PLACE.

I had the omelette it was pretty good and the wait staff was real friendly. My overall experience was pretty good the only thing that keeps them from getting a 5 star review is that it was so quiet that it made me feel like I had to be quiet and it smelled like a retirement home.Thats not necessarily a bad thing but just made me feel out of place....
I stop in here every week. Sometimes twice. I like the food. And I've always had a pleasant experience except one time. Tonight. The only piece of advice I would give to the wait staff is to be mindful of what you say. If it's a negative part of your shift to have to, "deal with the truckers", then you should observe where it is that you work and move on. Or at least take your attitude out of earshot. First time I didn't leave a tip. I'll still be back. One salty comment won't turn me from the buffet.
Typical "greasy spoon" truck stop diner. Big buffet with hot and cold items. You can make a meal of that alone. This is good cheap truck stop food. If you want to fill up your tank and your belly, this is a decent place to do it. Food quality is what you'd expect but it was clean, comfortable, and service was good.
Very good food and decent size portion. Desert was amazing. I got the cookie sundae skillet. Our server was not very attentive once she brought the food. Had to until we were done eating for 5 minutes to get refills or I would have gave it five stars
The Iron Skillet Restaurant has a buffets so you can go in and start eating right away or you can order off of the menu. Portions are generous and the food is well prepared. I was surprised at how good the shrimp were. The menu says it comes with fries but I was able to exchange the fries for a salad. The salad greens very fresh and crispy as were the cucumber slices. My son ordered an omelet. The meal filled the plate and he had to take half of it home and ate it the next day. We certainly got our money's worth. The food was very good. We had a little wait while the prepared our orders but it was worth waiting for. Had we chosen the buffet we could have started eating right away. However we were there as a family and were able to sit and talk while they prepared our food. The staff was very accommodating and friendly.
Only reason that I didn't give them 5 stars is because the place itself is pretty outdated. Old, torn seats in several of the booths. However, if you can get past that, the food was really good! Especially the pancakes. They were fluffy, mlost and not too sweet . I'm not a big chicken fried steak fan, but I did really enjoy this one. It was well seasoned and nice and crispy. The portions are on the larger side. We would definitely eat there again if in that area.

My personal experience is the food is great on the weekends and weekday just so so. The manager is really nice and very helpful as I requested an itemized receipt. If you use a credit card to pay you have to request an itemized receipt says the manager. Once again very kind.

2 of my party had the buffet. My hubby said the white fish wasn't cooked enough but the rest of the food was good. I had the salad bar and it was good but took awhile for the girl to fill the lettuce bowl. My grilled chicken was cooked perfectly as was my vegetables. Overall it was a nice dinner
Our waitress did an amazing job. Unfortunately she was the only one working there to serve. We felt bad she was doing it all on her own. We gave her a larger tip cuz she was working so hard. I only gave this restaurant a 3 because they need more staff. We were patient while many others were not. It's a shame. Please hire more people at this location.
Just as a guide/suggestion or heads up for any carnivores looking for a decent steak , be sure to order it RAW as it can be heated more but cannot be brought back from ashes . I ordered a steak medium RARE in the hopes it would be anything less than medium , and it was cooked well to the point of being dry and just short of shoe leather .
Staff needs training and management. First shift served cold food. Second shift couldn’t manage to send one complete order to the table. When you pay over $30.00 for a chicken fried steak breakfast and the kitchen can’t figure it out it is not worth the incredibly high price.
The service was friendly enough, kind and obviously knowledgeable of the menu. However, our food sat in the window for a good 10 minutes before making it to our table. The Food was also a little expensive for what it was. Just passing through but next time I'm passing through, I'll probably hit up the Denny's next door.

Services staff is friendly and helpful, but the kitchen can never get an order right and very expensive for the small portions that are served .
We have been enjoying the Iron Skillet for many, many years as we really like to venture out for just great diner food from time to time. A couple months ago, we were so totally disappointed to see that they had completely gutted the menu and there is just not much of anything to attract us in anymore. Of the things listed there is generally a key ingredient missing which totally destroys the attractiveness of the meal. Some things just go together in a meal and if an item is unavailable it is just not attractive. If you guys go back to your old ways, by all means let it be known and we will become regulars again.
Went the second day after they re-opened, service was good, staff was friendly, altho' the place felt sticky 'n dingy. And there isn't even one item for a non-meat eater...Hello Arby's (and NO, an anemic iceberg lettuce horror is not it!) So I ordered a "Non" Traditional Club Sandwich, no meat, double the tomato and cheese, added red onion. It was OK. Apparently they're known for their Chicken Fried Steak, Hubs said it was thicker than usual and just OK. We won't be back. The Corning Food Desert still stands.

So went there and our waitress Anna was rude and ignored us for over 30 minutes. Finally handed our order in which one of our order was oatmeal and that is all we received for over an hour. She delivered people's orders that came in way after we did. Also delivered a gentleman his order that again ordered after we did the wrong order. We have given this place chances time after time even with cold French fries and very cold scrambled eggs. We can not recommend this place for anyone. It has went down in quality.
When we ordered decaf coffee and they said they didn't have any left, that should have been our clue and we should have left. Both our eggs were far undercooked, not like we'd ordered. Plenty of bacon strips but each was cooked to a different doneness. Some almost raw, some limp and 1 actually crisp. The hashbrowns were very oily and pancakes tasted off and were crumbly. The only star of our 2 meals was the rye bread toast. We won't be returning and feel badly for the truck drivers who eat here expecting a great meal. The service was okay otherwise this is a hard 1 star review.
So I gave the food a 5 because the cook Is great .it is the waitress that hear the bell ring and just sit at the register doing what she was doing for 10 min after the bell .then Decided to bring us are food that is now cold .and on top of that she needs a bigger shirt because her butt crack was showing . The whole time . They had a total of 3 tables that needed to be served at dinner time .
We got pretty much scammed here and charged more than promised. Food wasn't really worth it and the waiters were liars. I'd skip this place.
If I could give ZERO stars, you would have it. Ordered "dinner" size fried fish dinner. Got no soup or salad because you were out of soup. 3 small pieces of fish on a dinner order. Menu prices it at $11.99. I get charged $14.99. Waitress argues with me telling me it was dinner size and not lunch size because I refused to take the salad in place of soup that you were out of. HORRIBLE customer service!!! I assure you, I will NEVER be a customer at the place again!!! 08/18/21
Went in, no one greeted us. 4 tables with people. Not busy, with 2 wait staff. Sat ourselves busboy/host brought water and menus. Kudos to him! Wait staff ignored us for 15 mins after we sat, we were clearly ready to order. Got up and left and nobody cared. Never will go back.
Sandwiches okay, don't order fish not cooked.Vegtabels burnt.
The greeting at the door was very rude. Food was cold, cleanliness was non-existent, service was terrible. It was 1hour before I received my cold steak and mashed potatoes. Absolutely do not recommend. Also, not to mention when I brought up the fact that our food was cold ? Our waitress (JAMMIE) chuckled while turning around to go charge my card. Unbelievable !
This place is absolutely horrible. Very dirty, grime on everything. The waitress was not friendly we had to get our own menus. The time it took for the food to arrive was a little longer than it should have been for the number of customers in the store. The food was horrible no flavor and cold my sons special order was wrong and the waitress wanted to argue about it. Very over priced for the quality and quantity. As we were leaving a cockroach fell from under the chair and it was still alive and I started to wig out about it and the waitress just laughed about it. This place needs shut down.

1st the Chicken fried steak was nasty not a good flavor at all. 2nd the build your own omelette didn't have cheese just very very little. 3rd Fries and Hasbrowns taste like real old grease. Asked for crispy Hasbrowns and they did not do that. For 100.00 for 4 not worth it at all. We will never return again.
Service was terrible. There were only 5 people in there at 1pm. One waitress. Very inattentive. Food was just as bad. Chicken parm sandwich with plain tomato sauce from a can. Southern bbq burger was gross. Chicken fried steak dinner was blah. Green beans unseasoned and cold. But worse. Menu says chicken fried steak, country gravy and two sides. One would assume that mashed potatoes are under the gravy so I ordered 2 sides( a side salad and green beans). Bill arrives and got charged 6.00 for the side salad. Guess because I ordered mashed potatoes under the gravy that that count as a side so salad became extra. Questioned the bill. Was told a lot of people are confused by that but the 5.99 charge still stands. Ordered dessert. Don’t recommend the raspberry cheesecake. Live in small town and try to support local but never going to iron skillet corning again.
Our breakfast was HORRIBLE.. grease soaked!! Hash browns were just heated up.. eggs were over well done, omelette was DRY even with cheese( no where to be found). Hostess was pleasant, not responsible for the cook who makes and plates your meal. Grab pepsid before and after, it’s much needed.. ALL around VERY DISGUSTING and DISAPPOINTING. Won’t be going back!! After I got home within 45 mins I was deathly ILL…
I ordered a chicken club salad they didn't put the egg or bacon on it, my husband ordered the meatloaf it was hard as a rock. Oh and the cook put our salads underneath the heat lamp 32 dollars and some change. Never again
I think the waitress or 2 there were by themselves/overwhelmed, & idk if this is a regular issue here or not, but it also wasn't packed & we did still use our whole lunch break waiting just for the food to come out that we ordered & actually went over..& evn then it was missing items, so we were overcharged by time we left 4what we had but no time2 go back..prob wont agn tbh. (Evn tho the waitress was nice, idk if just kitchen was too slow pr what but ya no can do, if the food were cheaper at least itd kinda make up4it but its alrdy overpriced too...)
