Nobu Coronado offers excellent food and service, particularly the miso cod and sushi. Many reviewers highlight the beautiful oceanfront setting and attentive staff, especially servers like Sam and Ian. Some find it expensive for the portion sizes and the experience inconsistent.

Nobu Coronado delivers exactly what you expect from the brand—exceptional food, elevated service, and an unbeatable oceanfront setting. The sushi was impeccably fresh, the signature dishes were perfectly executed, and every detail felt intentional. The atmosphere strikes the right balance between upscale and relaxed, making it ideal for a special night out or a memorable dinner by the beach. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the pacing of the meal was spot on. If you’re looking for a high-end dining experience with stunning views and consistently excellent cuisine, Nobu Coronado is absolutely worth it.

We spent a weekend here in early October for my birthday. My wife, who is allergic to seafood, knows I love sushi, so this was the obligatory stop. A bit expensive but you get what you pay for. Everything we ordered was excellent. And yes, they do have options for non-fish eaters. We shared the edamame. I stuck with some sashimi dishes off the Cold menu, the Yellowtail Jalapeno and the Tai Sweet Shiso. Just wow! So buttery, and absolutely delicious! I stuck with non-alcoholic this evening, and ordered the Coco Shiso. Fantastic drink! If you go here, you must try one of these, I loved it! Be sure to get reservations, they book quickly. The hostess isn't much help. We tried walking up around 7-8pm and were denied... Then walked away, booked on Opentable and were seated within 10 minutes. I will definitely try this place again.

LOVE! Our server was so great to kick things off. Every martini variation was delicious and we tried a couple sashimi options, the yellowtail jalapeño roll, and black cod miso. The black cod miso was maybe the best fish dish I’ve ever had. So much fun and gorgeous views from your table.

I'm honestly surprised by any of the lower ratings. Our experience at the sushi bar was absolutely incredible. The staff was warm, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome from the moment we sat down. We were able to order specialty rolls and sushi directly from the chef, who was engaging, skilled, and happy to customize our meal. The black cod miso was to die for--perfectly cooked, rich, and flavorful. As someone who has experienced high-end sushi in other major cities, this was easily one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had in a while. The quality, ambiance, and personalized service made it feel truly special. Highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar if you're looking for something intimate, interactive, and delicious.

We had an amazing evening at the new Nobu at Hotel Del Coronado. The hostesses seated us right away at a beautiful ocean-view table, and the manager, Michael, personally welcomed us—which was a great touch. We asked for an omakase experience and were treated to a diverse lineup of hot and cold signature dishes. Everything was delicious, and the service was flawless—our drinks were always full, and the pacing was perfect. The new space is sexy, serene, and a fantastic addition to Coronado. Can’t wait to come back.

Nobu Del Coronado was the perfect place to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday and our anniversary! The service is superb and the atmosphere makes for a great complimentary scene. I ordered a bunch of different menu items, the wagyu dumpling were great. The red snapper chefs special sashimi was tasty.

Another fantastic location added to the ever-growing Nobu Empire! A bit on the smaller side compared to other Nobu Restaurants but the spot is amazing, with indoor as well as ourdoir seating. Staff members are knowledgeable, friendly and very hospitable. Food is delicious as always! Get there early for prime bar seats and great people watching 😊

It’s not surprising that the food is phenomenal. The Miso Cod was like butter - the Lobster ceviche was spicy and loaded with unique flavor. The wine list was lovely. We will order the Chardonnay of the owner’s vintage again. The service could not be better. Adil has such a fun personality and knew that menu back and forth. Not overwhelming us but there whenever we needed something. We will be coming back and look forward to sampling more items on that wonderful menu.

Nobu Del Coronado is a unique addition to the Nobu restaurant group. The dining room is small, intimate while also providing privacy, and roughly 50/50 indoor / outdoor. The location on the great lawn of the hotel is very nice, with wonderful ambiance at night. Our food was excellent and I would say the preparation and flavors were even better than Nobu’s typical high standard. The Highlights: 🌟 Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice 🌟 Shrimp & Lobster 🌟 Baked Crab Hand Roll 🌟 Filet Mignon Service was very good our first night. On our second visit a few days later, we had some service issues but all were handled promptly. One thing to be aware of: Prices are roughly 30-50% higher than other Nobus. The location somewhat accounts for this but the difference was still quite pronounced across the menu.

My husband and I did the Nobu Igloo for Two experience last night. It was really wonderful. The food, atmosphere and exceptional service from Kiante made for a truly memorable Valentine's Day dinner. We loved all the dishes, but our favorites were the lobster risotto, crispy duck and champagne soufflé for dessert. We haven't eaten at the restaurant yet but are Nobu fans and look forward to dining there in the near future.

My first visit to a NOBU. It was nice. I think nice would be the word. Excellent it was not. It was expensive and unwarrantedly so. I kept thinking the whole time we were seated that it’s what the Cheesecake Factory would be if they were in the business of Japanese fare. Nonetheless, I did enjoy it. It just wasn’t worth the price and way overhyped. I should note, our server was wonderful. You pay for the name.

The food was good, expensive for what we got compared to other high end sushi. The wait service was great but the hostess was not the nicest. Atmosphere and location is perfect. We had 2 people, spent $600, and left hungry.

We had a good experience overall. We did make a reservation since it was high season, and sat on the front outside terrace. Service is ok and can't comment on the cocktails but they do have a good by the glass wine selection and beer options. Food is good, but pretty expensive as expected. Some makis were great (spicy tuna) while other dished kind of disappointed (yellowtail jalapeno) but everything was good. Of course we were expecting a steep check and it was. Food is good but not worth it by itself, you pay for the ambiance and chicness of the spot, and that is worth it on a sunny afternoon or afternoon with the Christmas decorations all over the hotel. The bar kiosk is great, will be seating there next time for drinks

I arrived alone on a Thursday night without a reservation and was offered a seat at the bar instead of waiting for a table, which worked out perfectly. I ordered a Mal Margarita, the Yellowtail Jalapeño Cut Roll, and the Tempura Rock Shrimp with Creamy Spicy sauce. The sushi was nice, and the shrimp was excellent. It came out quickly, too. Overall, a great experience and definitely worth it as my one splurge meal of the trip.

My first visit ever to a Nobu, while staying at the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego. We dined on a Friday night and the restaurant was busy as expected. Given this was our first visit, we wanted to enjoy a full experience and decided in a server recommended multi course approach. Cocktails were good and on time. Martini could have been a bit colder. Starters were the lobster and crispy tuna, which were ok, but nothing special. Next up was the artichoke salad and that was 5 stars. Loved it. We ordered a bottle of the recommended chardonnay, but had to ask twice for it to finally arrive. Mains were the marquee black cod and crispy ribeye. The cod came out and we were told the ribeye would follow but never did. We finished the cod then learned the ribeye went to a wrong table. A new one was fired and arrived 20 minutes later. In between the two, another tasty highlight was the Japanese potatoes. The food quality and presentation were very good, but the disjointed service spoiled the moment. We decided to opt out of the sushi course given the delays and moved on to conclude with dessert and after dinner drinks. Due to the service miscues, they did comp the ribeye and the dessert. In the end, given the very expensive cost and service miscues, I dont think we will be back

N
Nicole Miller

Super loud inside with busy staff, not very attentive and at times seemed to ignore us. Courses came out as they pleased and the drinks were very slow. Good but not amazing rolls. Expensive for what it was, but you're paying more for the atmosphere.

I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. From the start, there were small but noticeable service issues—there weren’t enough menus for our party of three, water glasses went unfilled for too long, and we had to ask for drink refills. The ambiance also felt off. Rather than the elevated, refined vibe you’d expect from a Nobu-style restaurant, the patio gave off more of a casual beach pool bar atmosphere. On a positive note, the presentation of the food was beautiful. However, the flavors were just average—nothing memorable or worth the steep prices. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend dining here. There are plenty of better options in San Diego that offer more enjoyed experience and better value.

1st time Nobu diner here... I chose to share my 👎 experience only because this was a very important anniversary dinner, and the evening did not meet the standard I expected. Overall, I would rate the experience three out of five stars. On a percentage scale, about sixty five percent. In school, that is considered a failing grade, and that truly surprised me. The ambiance was pleasant, but the restaurant was louder than expected due to a child screaming throughout dinner. Service felt uneven. My wife received her ceviche with no utensils. When I asked for them, only hers were brought. I then had to ask again for my own utensils for my ribeye. At the end of the meal, the complimentary mochi dessert was a thoughtful gesture, but again, no utensils were provided. The food presentation was excellent, but the ribeye was unexpected. The menu does not list the portion size, so I reasonably assumed an eight to ten ounce cut. Instead, it was a sliced six ounce portion with a marinade. It looked nice, but it did not resemble a traditional ribeye, which usually shines with simple salt & pepper. I also noticed the presentation of the staff. Everyone wore black, but the clothing did not look pressed or professionally prepared. It looked more like the outfits had been pulled straight from a dryer rather than ironed or dry cleaned. Hairstyles also felt very casual for an upscale evening service. I dine all over San Diego and I expect a certain level of polish from the serving staff. This did not apply to everyone, but I would say it applied to most of the team. Even the manager, dressed in a light beige outfit (for evening attire?), had a noticeable stain on his clothing. It did not match the image or standard I expected from a well known restaurant. Would I return? Possibly, but mainly to host clients or if my wife requested. For myself, absolutely not. REALITY: On the way home, I ended up eating at McDonald’s. I shouldn’t have had to do that dropping $250.

This was my first ever Nobu experience this past weekend. The food and cocktails were wonderful and the restaurant was beautiful. No issues there. Do not make a late reservation here, we felt like we were in the way and being rushed out at the end like they were closing up shop around us. Service was very slow and messy, we waited over 45 minutes for cocktails. Our first course arrived before drinks did. Our server did not seem interested in explaining anything to us or check on us really at all, we had to wave down other servers to get someone to help us throughout the meal. I had higher expectations of service for such an esteemed brand. But man was the food good and stunning, hats off to the kitchen!

Definitely not what I expected from my first Nobu experience. It really did feel like a poolside restaurant. It was open air and only had peekaboo views of the ocean. The service was horrible. We were seated for our reservation and then waited an inordinate amount of time to even be greeted, let alone receive water or menus. When the waiter finally showed up with only drink menus, I asked if we could see the actual food menu since it had been so long to be greeted initially. He didn’t even explain the menu and instead hard selled certain menu items, of course, the most expensive. When the water finally came, he only filled my glass halfway, and I had to keep asking for refills, often more than once. The exception to the abysmal service were the expediters who genuinely seemed enthusiastic about what they were serving and explained each dish and how the chef intended it to be approached. The dishes were certainly more creative than your average sushi restaurant, but not nearly enough to justify the price. It would not be a do over.

⭐️⭐️ (2/5) The black cod miso here is $20 more than at Nobu San Diego or Nobu Indian Wells, and unfortunately the experience doesn’t come close to justifying it. We went for lunch and sat at the bar. Two drinks, black cod miso, tuna crispy rice, and spicy rock shrimp tempura came out to $265. The food was good, but not special, and service was slow and inattentive for a bar lunch. This location feels like it’s leaning heavily on the Hotel del Coronado setting rather than delivering the level of service and value Nobu is known for. For the price, there are much better options nearby, including The Henry or Nobu downtown. Thoroughly disappointed.

Atmosphere and service were fantastic so I found it difficult to eat here because everything that came out was so boring. Salt levels were perfect. Things were decently seasoned it was just all so boring an unimaginative. I've had more exciting and better street food in aisa. This place is either a really old menu or it needs a refresher. For what they are charging a Maki roll just doesn't cut it in 2026. Again seasoned well, service great but just very old menu. I wouldn't eat here again or show friends visiting with all the food we have available in San Diego. I really wanted to like the place because I know the chef has talent.
