Babcock & Story Bar is loved for its atmosphere, views, and friendly service, especially from staff like Dylan. The location in Hotel Del Coronado is a big draw. Some find the drinks expensive and service slow, but the overall experience is positive.

Good for small bites. But the cocktails are on key. Full bar so you can order other drinks not on the menu. Perfect for sitting down and sipping on a cocktail while people watching.
Lovely place in the historic Coranado Hotel. The sliders were great and so was the Baileys coffee. The mahogany vintage bar and bar top were classic.
One of my favorite places to come on sunset time. I personally enjoy to gather here with friends and business partners. It's a great place, with the most professional experience with the employees. They provide with the best of them and so much a friendly environment. I'm happy to see the new remodeling of sun deck ... to keep enjoying The Del Coronado.
Nice classic place. The last time I came (around 2015) I don't think they had tvs, I would've kept it that way. They take away from the classic feel. The drinks are expensive but it's what you expect to pay at Hotel Del Coronado. I ordered an old fashioned to go, it was good. Good customer service as well.
One of the best Old Fashioned cocktails I've ever had. Poke was delicious, as were the pork belly sliders. A pricey menu, but what do you expect? You're at the Del.

the pretzel is so good!! i love a good pretzel!! perfect pair with an aperol! they have their own version of aperols, but you can always get an original one!
Babcock and Story Bar has an incredibly cool atmosphere with the beautiful sunset as a back drop. Our server was really friendly and understanding. The food and drinks were fabulous. The artichoke dip was full of artichokes and the Tomato Bisque was really creamy and delicious. I really recommend this spot in the Hotel Del Coronado.
I recently visited Babcock & Story Bar with my dad, who was visiting from New Jersey, and my sister, and we had an amazing experience, thanks to Dylan. He was super friendly and helpful, and he made the best espresso martinis! We enjoyed some light snacks, including pretzel bites and a Caesar salad. The live music and overall great vibe made our visit even better. As a San Diego local, I appreciate great service, and Dylan's expertise and welcoming attitude are definitely reasons I'll be coming back. Highly recommend stopping by for a drink if you're in the area!

I visited the Del Coronado hotel on Thanksgiving day and it was a beautiful experience, nicely complemented by the food at Babcock! We tried the Bavarian pretzel and the veggie pizza (more like foccachia bread), both were good for a quick evening bite. The restaurant is located inside the hotel lobby and has a great holiday vibe with live music and lights!!
The Baseline: For a in hotel restaurant lounge it must have a good drink menu, excellent appetizers, and a stellar staff to bring out the experience. Food: The food is good here but it is good food for a hotel bar lounge. I had the Meatball Sandwich, the pork chicharron, and the Caesar Salad. The meatball sandwich was good and substantial and it came with the house made kettle chips. All around good. The chicken Caesar salad was huge and phenomenal (highly suggest this). The pork chicharron was skin and no fat with a verde dipping salsa so I appreciated the crispy treat. The only ding is the prices, but you are at the Hotel del Coronado so you are paying for location in the price. Service: Top notch service from our waiter. Full water glasses and fast, efficient service. No complaints. Ambiance: Bar lounge in the historic Hotel del Coronado with open doors bringing in the San Diego bay sea breezes from the Pacific Ocean. On a summer day it makes for an incredible experience. Great atmosphere and place to hang out.
First off, incredible location and view. Great people watching and over chilling by the beach spot. I highly recommend checking Babcock out. It was super fun to have live music. Food was pretty good and servers were hustling but overall slow bar and kitchen. That said the atmosphere out shines the slowness.
We were staying at the shore house for the weekend and we explored all the restaurants in the main hotel Dell Coronado area. We came upon this place and the atmosphere was super fun! It's got an old-fashioned vibe and it's open to the outside, but you can also sit at the bar and inside. The drinks were fantastic, the service was great, and the food was delicious. However ... When they are serving a $26 Old fashioned, and their burgers are as expensive as they are, they darn well better be delicious. Lol be prepared to pay a lot for this historic hotels atmosphere!
I love the classic feel of this bar, and what a perfect location: almost right on the beach. Great history, too. The drinks are spendy and small, so be prepared for that. I got the blood sage smash, which was refreshing and perfect. My parents got Moscow mules, and they were terrible - the ginger beer tasted flat. I didn't know you could have a terrible Moscow mule. It was tough to get service at first, but our server was very nice once we got going.
Fun little bar to grab light bites and a drink while enjoying the hotel property. The service was a tad slow, but overall I had a good experience. The pretzel bites were super yummy!
Located in the Hotel del Coronado, this establishment has wonderful views and neat decor. The menu is somewhat limited, and the food was above average.
Stopped by for a cocktail this week. Beautiful bar and fantastic service staff as usual. Beautiful views and always enjoy the history and ambiance. It’s a regular stop when I’m visiting. Cheers!

Babcock & Story Bar is a really fun spot with a great atmosphere, especially given its location inside the iconic Hotel del Coronado. The drinks were really good, well made and enjoyable with a nice variety to choose from. The service was friendly and made the experience even better. It does feel a bit over-priced for what you get, but that is pretty expected given the setting. You are paying for the location and the experience as much as the drinks. Still, it is a cool place to relax and take in the historic vibes, especially if you're already at the Del.

Beautiful place to enjoy food or drinks. The service is horribly slow and very inattentive, and truth be told the food is just okay for the price. But what a view!
Location/Atmosophere: 5 Stars Drinks/Food: 4 Stars Price/Value: 2 Stars Service: 3 Stars Spent a late morning, early afternoon, walking the beach and ended up at the Hotel Coronado. This historic hotel is a treat to experience and recommend all to check out, especially if you love the beach. We ended up (party of 8) at the Babcock and Story Bar for a drink or two. Cocktails were good and their house blonde Hotel del California “Some like it blonde” ale was terrific. I highly recommend this beer. We had sodas, drinks, and a few rounds of french fries. You come here paying for location and experience (plus it’s a So. Cal. hotel so it going to be pricey). The service was ok at best. The spot appears to be understaffed and considering your paying $8 for a soda refills were tough to come by. Server was somewhat friendly but hustling around what seemed to be most of the place during a sort of busy time of day (lunch time on a Sunday). Overall a nice time and I would probably come back as it’s a special experience. If you go be prepared for lackluster service, overpriced items, and be prepared to wait…but while you wait enjoy the amazing view and great weather at this historic spot.

Such an ugly space - who thought this was a good idea for a luxury hotel? It’s all tv’s. The floor looks like it belongs in a restroom. The lighting is awful. The furniture is super ugly. The lack of fabrics makes the whole space super loud with echoes. The drink we ordered was well made but we ended up taking it up to the verandah which was much nicer. They should just have some waiters roaming the lobby areas for guests who don’t want to sit in a loud sports bar. When it’s raining this is pretty much the only option at the hotel, unfortunately.
Still an unbeatable location and view but the food and cocktails were just bad. Overly sweet drink, margarita with undetectable tequila and Grand Marnier, ahi crudo and croque monsieur were just plain bad. Clearly tourist oriented fare. So disappointing for the Del. Hope the new owners pay more attention to the F&B quality in the future. The remodel is gorgeous.

Terrible service with inattentive staff. When they're charging $14 for a draft beer, the service should at least be decent.
