I went there tonight with my wife for the 1st time. Atmosphere was chill, the food was really good including the portions, our waitress was amazing, the staff is really friendly, and the prices are more than reasonable. I'll be back that's for sure, & I definitely recommend.
Stopped in here for lunch and it was GREAT! The service was fast and really friendly. The food was served quickly, and with faultless execution of our requested modifications. Pricing is very affordable, and the environment is really fun. Next time we're in the area, we will definitely check it out in the evening. Highly recommend
Have been there about half a dozen times with family, the food and service were always good. On our last trip there when the bill came I gave the waitress my debit card and a 20% cash tip. When my statement from the bank came there was another 20% tip added to my card. After much conversation with the manager I was told the tip would be removed, it never was, we will not be going back.
Solid menu with a lot of options. Restaurant was clean. The staff was friendly, Brynne waited on us, and she was great! Very helpful, service with a smile, super pleasant! Would definitely be a regular spot if I lived closer!
We enjoyed our meal. We came for an early dinner during move-in week for college and got a table right away. They were pretty busy but we got drinks and ordered quickly and I thought our food came out really quick. Our food was delicious and we are every last bite. Staff were all very friendly and attentive and we will definitely be back. TVs all over for sports viewing all had different sports playing. Something for everybody!
My first time to Rock Sports Bar and Cortland. A lot of screens to watch the Bills and other football games. There's a lot of space in the restaurant so it didn't feel crowded. However, parking seemed a bit limited. A great place with a good vibe.
Sep 2025 • COUPLES How this place isn't in, at least, the top 10 of restaurants in Cortland is beyond me. We've (my husband and I) have been trying Cortland restaurants for a few years now and nothing has stood out. Until now. Our waitress's name was Julia and she was so sweet and friendly. No hovering (which I hate). We had the burgers, which were really good (cooked perfectly) and my husband ordered a side of the fried pickles, which I tried. So weird and tasty! Loved them.
I had a great time at the rock bar and grill. The service was impeccable, our waitress Brin was outstanding and was very considerate, kind and outgoing. I can’t wait to come back! - Jake Rosta
It's just fancy bar food. Nothing that stands out. Nothing unique. It's good but it isn't really why we go. It's definitely a sports bar. The place is actually boring if you aren't into sports. There's screens wherever they could put one, which is fine. They bar is fairly basic, too. Be ready to tell them how to make a cocktail if you order it. Again, that's fine. However, if you're running a bar with that many choices, and a wall of booze (as IF you're a pro), having unseasoned bartenders kinda stinks. Traditional drink, too. Not elaborate concoctions. Don't get me wrong, the bartenders are adorable and they like learning new drinks. They are great with their service and attention to guests. All that said, the reason we go there is for the staff. They are incredibly sweet, quick, and attentive. They answer questions and make you laugh. The staff is great and they make the visits amazing. We celebrate birthdays there mostly, and they are always a blast to interact with. They have an opportunity and a great spot for other events and I wish they'd branch out a little. Something to engage the community. Honestly, this town doesn't need just another bar and I hope this establishment shakes it up a bit more.
This sports bar definitely delivers on a sports atmosphere. With a good sports vibe, it's the kind of place where you can really get caught up in the excitement. The service was also a standout – the staff were incredibly attentive, making sure everyone was taken care of even as it got busy. Plus, finding a seat wasn't an issue as they have plenty. When it comes to the food, it's your standard bar fare with a good variety of options to choose from. While it won't blow you away, it certainly did the job. Overall, if you're looking for a place with a buzzing atmosphere, top-notch service, and plenty of room to settle in and watch some sports, this spot is a solid choice. Just don't go in expecting a gourmet culinary experience. But as sports bar go I'll be back. It also looks like it's a good place to watch UFC.
On my visits to Cortland I have eaten at the rock several times. This time I ordered the Western burger with a side of chili and with a appetizer of nachos. I was disappointed that the nachos and salsa came out with the meal I really wanted it as an appetizer. The burger was cooked well and very enjoyable to eat. The chili I found bland and felt like it came out of a condensed can of soup it wasn't very exciting. I will eat here again but pay attention to the appetizers and when they're served and I won't be getting the chili.
The food wasn't awful. In fact, the appetizers were really good. But the service was hugely lacking. I'm not sure why considering it wasn't very busy. At one point, we saw our drinks sitting at the bar waiting for our server to bring them over and we ended up having to ask the bartender if we could just get them ourselves.
We had a new server during our visit, she was doing well with her trainer. The menu had some nice variety, however the chicken waffles was my meal of choice and the waffle machine had just broken that day. My grilled cheese was slightly above average, the sweet potato fries were cooked well but could have used a sweet dipping sauce. The mac and cheese however I would recommend. The mac n cheese was very creamy which is my favorite. My margarita was not good, it tasted like a flat vodka club soda. Someone else at our table also received the wrong drink and that was remedied. The server was very attentive which I appreciated.
Waited for over an hour and my salad was wet. Does the owner still allow underage drinking? This place used to be the best in town at that!
My experience was NOT good at all. I ordered Mild boneless wings they were hotter than hell.My nephew’ meal was very dry he ordered the Swiss Burger his daughter had Garlic Parmesan boneless wings they were not cooked to her liking more like chicken nuggets. My step daughter had the Bacon Chicken Ranch with sweet potato fries. Sandwich was messy bacon hard to chew the fries were luke warm. After complaining to the waitress she offered us a free dessert I then said I believe we should at least get a discount. After she talked with the manager they did cut the bill in half. We got one Lava cake which was overcooked. Will not be going back any time soon.
So I decided to stop here while touring the local college with my son. Honestly, I wanted to go to the diner across the street but they don’t allow seating 45 minutes before closing saw this place across the street noticed it had a decent amount of stars and said what the heck. I wish I read the reviews first. Unfortunately I was a little too hungry Service was excellent. I love the ambience in the TVs. If you’re a sports fan this is the place to go. We ordered an appetizer came out right away. Appetizer was good. Looked a lot smaller than the picture in the menu that we were looking at my son, ordered a double burger, and I ordered the mac & cheese and requested to have pulled pork on it, the waitress obliged. So this is where the meal turns a little bit south my son said the burger was bland. No seasoning and I would agree with the Sysco barbecue sauce from another reviewer. My mac & cheese was cold and so is the pulled pork. luckily mine was not over cooked and swimming in the weird cheese sauce originally wanted to order a dessert then decided not to have any more food. Personally, I get it you’re in a college town but when you’re charging what you are you really expect to get decent food not the stuff that comes frozen off of the Sysco truck. Needless to say if the kid picks this college I won’t try this place again unless I maybe drunk. Such a shame as it a cool spot.
Such a shame to have that lousy of food at this cute sports bar. Mac was cooked to mush and swimming in bland sauce that had filmed over on the top. Gross. Chicken was tiny and drenched in Sysco BBQ sauce. Waffle fries were old. EVERYTHING was cold. No beer refill. No water refill. We were two of only four people there. That should have been a clue. After watching the waitress “buy” the folks a round at the bar we thought she’d make right on our bad food. Nope. What a waste of $50. We still tipped 20% because we’re not jerks but we certainly won’t be back.
