Mi casa has the best chicken enchiladas. I drive over 30 miles to eat them. They have the best cheese. I was told the freshly grate 3000 lbs ...the guacamole is delicious as well. They have a great food club with rewards. The service is great and fast.
We’ve been coming here for over 15 yrs now. My wife since before they moved to this location. It’s our most favorite Mexican Food restaurant.
Friendly and reasonably priced restaurant with both a family-friendly dining area as well as a bar area that is full of locals who have been patronizing the place for years. Friendly, non-stuffy atmosphere, and many staff members have worked there for years. some of them for decades. Late afternoon and early evenings hours seem to be best for the bar scene, as the place usually closes by nine.
They renovated which is cool, but the food is still amazing and they are so good about big groups. We go with the whole fam for every birthday celebration.
The food here was spectacular. Recommend the carnitas and sautéed veggies as a side. The jalapeño slaw was really great. The guacamole was a great way to start.
We had the entire room for an event. The margaritas were kept flowing, the menu was perfect for the group. The food came out quickly, was fresh and delicious. Definitely would go back
Great food! It’s like having your abuela’s comfort food! Great for catering parties! The fiesta pack options are awesome for parties, get togethers, or anything in between! I highly recommend mi casa for dining in or having people over. The chiliquilas are the BEST I’ve ever had!
Friendly good food and great margaritas. Still 7 years later, living on the east coast, Mi Casa is my all-time favorite Mexican Restaurant in the country! Taco Tuesday is a perfect excuse to go have a great margarita and chips while enjoying a fun room full of laughter and smiles! Weather in the bar area, where the friendly staff is always quick to help, or at a table with family and friends sharing a great plate of chips and cheese! The go to is always Mi Casa in Costa Mesa!
My husband and I started coming here when we got married in 1979. We have raised our children, nieces and nephews, and grandchildren on MiCasa. The food here is the best and the cheesiest! Some of our family favorites are the Drunken Burrito, the California Burrito, the Tostada, the 3 item combo plate, with a Chili Relleno, Tamale, and an enchilada. As soon as we sit down, we order chips with cheese and guacamole .... if you dont see what you're looking for, just ask. The associates here are absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere is festive, fun, and nostalgic! We love MiCasa and the Moore family.
So check it out, I have been visiting this restaurant since I was in diapers. Over the years they've had a couple different locations but this is the original and my favorite. The owners are great people and I've enjoyed watching the evolution of the different family members run the restaurant over the past 40+ years. I remember going in this place back when grandpa ran it, then his children were always at the front counter and created such an awesome environment. Nowadays it's run by I guess you could say the grandson and a group of awesome managers that really make you feel like family. The waitresses and the bartenders and even the bus boys wave to you when you walk in the door. The food is really good, not like other Mexican restaurants in the area, it's very unique! If you've lived in Costa Mesa long enough there seems to be a cross town rivalry between MiCasa and El Matador and I think it's safe to say that you either like one or the other and to my knowledge there's not very many people that like both . I am a MiCasa person and I will eat here 2 to 3 times a month, we always like to sit in the Burro Room where the environment is lots of fun and full of really cool unique people. If this is your first time visiting this restaurant I would highly recommend the chicken fajitas, I wish they would put more onions in the fajitas and less peppers but I still order the fajitas 90% of the time. You can't go wrong with crispy shredded beef taco, the enchiladas are good and what makes this place really stand out is there guacamole, chips and cheese and the case of dip. Now let's talk about the margaritas, the margaritas are awesome and the waitress staff and the bartenders really do a good job keeping everybody happy. I wish they had a couple big TVs, the TVs that are in the burro room aren't the greatest but I heard a rumor that a remodel is coming soon. Bottom line is if you've never been to MiCasa I highly recommend you pay this place a visit. I'm not even gonna tell you about their secret salsa because I'm not sure they want me to mention it but damn it's good . I've been telling the owner for years to make a trio plate where you can get what I call the secret salsa, a little bit of queso and a little bit of their guac because again I think it's their guac and the queso that makes his place stand out from all the other Mexican restaurants in the city.
After driving around we found this great Mexican restaurant in Newport Beach. We had the 3 item combos. It was delicious. The portions were huge. Big bowl of chips and lots of salsa. Our waitress was very nice. Prices are reasonable. The cozy interior had Christmas decorations up. My relatives visiting from Vancouver were stuffed. This is a hidden gem!
Currently about $20/per person until you begin ordering extra things. A single side of guacamole was $7.25, cocktail $8.50 so you can easily escalate your bill. However, service was good and food even better. We ordered combination plates and we had to take food home because the plates were so big. There’s a bar in the back with a large screen TV so there are many options for an evening out. Rated 5 Stars easily!
I always receive posts of your food on FB and everything always looks so good. I live in Houston, Texas and I visit L.A. all the time, so I was determined to come to Costa Mesa and try out your food. Just so happened to be here this month. I had dinner one night and lunch again before going home. Everything was delicious. I will be returning in September. My friends and family followed me there also after seeing the posts. Everyone loves the food there. The portions were huge, well worth the money. And the tortilla soup with the avocado and sour cream, chicken and veggies...OMG! My compliments to the Chef. 😋😋😋
Very old school with lots of history. The people who frequent here also have lots of history. It’s been opened for half a decade and the tables have faded where they put the plates down. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Our waiter was very nice, he kept our chip basket full and our sodas fresh and filled. Very large portions of food too!
Excellent family style Mexican cuisine. I ordered some delicious shredded beef hard tacos with a side of rice and refried beans. Huge portions and a filling meal! But I must say I was very disappointed with the selection of salsas - I tried all 4 available at the chips counter and didn’t like any of them. This was disappointing for an otherwise tasty Mexican meal
This was my first time here since the remodel. The service was top shelf, but it ends there. Large portions don’t make the food better. From the stale chips to the overcooked meat the food was abysmal. With all the options available in this area why would you go here?
The food portions are great, with the veggie burrito being very good! The guacamole appetizer, although a gigantic portion seemed a bit over priced and was just kind of thrown at us, rather than sold to us, since the chips and salsa were just average. It is definitely a family oriented type atmosphere, nice and cozy but trying to get out of there or any service is going to take you forever, so plan for spending an extra unwanted 30 minutes just waiting around. We went right before the dinner rush with only half the restaurant occupied, yet the service was incredibly slow, it took us at least 5-10 minutes before we could ever find our server on each occasion (getting to go boxes, the check, additional napkins etc). I'd recommend ordering take out/calling ahead if you're ever short on time. Sit down will take a while.
The tacos served for taco Tuesday are very small street tacos. The chicken and beef are extremely plain, served with 2 tortillas, very little meat, tons of onion, and cilantro. The Al Pastor taco has a little more substance: seasoned pork, spicy salsa with chunks of mango, onions, and cilantro. The basket of chips the waiter brought t the table were extremely greasy. You could clearly see the layer of grease on the chips. Also, the table salsa is very plain--not much substance to it. The house margarita is simple as well. We sat in the main dining room and ordered the taco deal, but in order to get the drink deal, I had to go into the bar and place a separate order. The staff is very friendly. Good service. Kid friendly, too. However the food quality wasn't good enough to consider returning any time soon.
Horrible service. The Mexican gentleman working the front was super rude. I showed up to pickup my order and began to give him my name for the order and he raised his hand to me and gave me a snarky look and told me to "wait;" I was shocked because he didn't appear to be doing anything else at the moment. The food here used to be good but it has gone downhill. The new renovations ruined the atmosphere.
We entered the establishment accompanied by a well-trained and well-behaved seven-pound dog suitable for lunch. The restaurant was relatively unoccupied. After inquiring about the acceptability of bringing the dog inside, we were granted permission to enter. Regrettably, we made the error of placing her on a seat; however, before we could settle her, we were reprimanded sternly and instructed to remove the dog from the seat by an individual distributing chips. Due to our dietary restrictions concerning fried foods, we opted not to order chips. This was another mistake, as we were promptly informed of the issue. Consequently, the dog was placed on the floor beneath the table, and we had no food. When the waitress arrived to take our order, she advised us that we could not feed the dog any food. I questioned her as to where she observed any food for us or the dog, noting that we were ordering our meals and that only water was on our table. After placing our order, the dog remained under the table, and during our conversation, a man approached with an expression of concern and disapproval, requesting us not to feed the dog. I inquired as to what food I could possibly be feeding, considering only water was present on the table. Upon inspecting our table setup, he realized there was no food for us or anyone else. I then asked if he was the owner, as I was no longer comfortable with being told not to feed the dog without any food being served. He confirmed that he was one of the owners, observed us for a few moments, and then left. His behavior was peculiar and left me feeling uncomfortable. Subsequently, a small group gathered near the register, silently observing us. We decided to leave immediately. While the establishment appears to have potential and I understand the importance of accommodating dogs due to the owner's livelihood and health regulations, the experience was marred by excessive scrutiny and unfounded accusations. Such approaches may jeopardize customer relations. Ultimately, they lost my business that day, and in these challenging times, that is an outcome best avoided.
