Romola's Seafood & Grille

Service was exceptional. We ordered as an apperizer the oysters, then seafood pasta w/Fra Diavolo sauce and was delicious!, chocolate lava dessert and you can bring your own wine. (Walking distance/literally nextnto the restaurant).

If I could give 5 Michelin stars to this place I would . Food and service was beyond expected!

One of the best places that I’ve ever been, healthy food, and the perfect size for dinner time, we celebrated my birthday and the staff were super friendly and made my day. I definitely will be back soon! You can’t miss it!.

We love this restaurant. Some of the best tuna I've tasted and my husband loves their Dover Sole which they debone at the table. This summer, we've been sitting outside and thanks to the trees and little wall, it's an oasis. The service is excellent and it's just a wonderful evening.

Celebrated birthday with a friend this evening. The entrees were outstanding. Chilean Sea bass and Halibut entrees were delicious! As always, Sonny and his team were warm, welcoming and professional. Always a wonderful dining experience. Thank you Sonny.

We were early diner on a Friday night. We found the restaurant very nicely decorated and the attention we were getting fro the staff was superb. I thought , easy enough, since the place was nearly empty. But as the meal progressed and the restaurant filled up I found that they maintained the same level of attention. Bravo! There are very few places that can do that. Now onto ththe meal. The kitchen was equally superb. I started with grilled octopus, which can be a disaster if the chef is faking it but I am happy to report it was delicious and properly cooked. The plate was a healthy portion some may consider sharing it. My wife had the oyster cocktail. An excellent test of freshness and presentation both passed with flying colors. Onto th main dish I had jumbo shrimp and scallops over a mushroom risotto. A wonderful plate of food nicely seasoned shell fish over a rich creamy mushroom risotto. Risotto was exceptional. I have had mushroom risotto which resembled some flavorless goop on a plate but this one preserved the flavor of the mushroom no overwhelming it and the risotto texture was just right. My better half ordered the seafood crepes which was A healthy portion and decided to take half of it home. We finished off with some coffee since there no room left for desert. The price for our meal was 103$ before gratuity , which considering the quality on food , service and decor , was well worth the price. Luckily it is a BYOB because had we had some cocktails or wine the bill would have been closer to 200$ I'm sure. I will be coming back for sure.

Just got back from Romola’s and we will be back. We were a party of four and there were highlights at each course. Mussels were prepared in a perfectly rich cream sauce. Eggplant Rolatine was cheese heavy and eggplant light as a wrap and also delicious. Ahi Tuna, Short Ribs and Chicken perfectly prepared. Do have a meal here you won’t be disappointed.

I had an incredible experience dining here. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The selection of food was great and the restaurant itself was very nice. Our food was superb!! Everything from the appetizers to the dessert was absolutely delicious. Please try this restaurant if you're looking for outstanding seafood or steak dinner in a fine dining establishment.

Great experience! Everything from the food, to the service and atmosphere was a 10. I had the seafood crepes and my husband had the porterhouse with asparagus and spinach, we were both amazed by the quality and care taken for each dish. We had an early reservation, so we had the restaurant to ourselves, so can't speak to when it gets busy, but based on this experience, we will back! Cannolis are great as well.

Always good service and amazing food. I had the ahi tuna and my husband had the beef short ribs. Both very good. We had calamari for appetizer, which was also tasty. The expense of the entrees is mitigated by the fact that you can bring your own bottle and use a restaurant.com coupon. Romantic atmosphere too. Love this place!

We had a party of 7 celebrating a friend's BD. The food was fresh and the staff was great. Kudos especially to Israel. He was very patient and professional throughout our meal. Would definitely return fir another meal

Went out for our first dining out experience in 3 months since covid hit. While driving by Romola's we noticed they were open for outside dining so we stopped. It was a great experience! We were seated right away and the service was too notch. We had the Calamari, the Romola's and the Beet salad for starters. Salads were delicious but the calamari was a bit tough.. Entrees included the braised beef ribs over garlic mashed and a breaded chicken Milanese served over greens which were the best . Excited to find good another place in the area for a nice dinner. We made reservations for next week.

I've been here twice, both times excellent service. The food is delicious, and prepared with high quality ingredients. This trip, I had the seared tuna with a sesame seeds crust on top of a seaweed salad with lump crab meat and avocado. I recommend this dish for anyone who is trying to stay cool from the heat, it was a refreshing light meal. Thank you

The food was delicious. I had the garlic shrimp as my appetizer & seafood crepes as my entrée. A must if u love seafood. Also had Brussel sprouts and it was cooked to perfection. This place is a BYOB so bring your favorite bottle and prepare to have a mouthwatering meal. You will not be disappointed.

We love Romola’s! Our favorite restaurant in Cranford. They are BYOB and have a nice patio/outdoor space. The service is amazing and so is the food. We have never been disappointed. Our favorites are the mussels appetizer (best creamy garlic white sauce !!) and the seafood crepes. Open for both lunch and dinner (Saturday lunch time is our favorite time to go)

This was the second time I've used them to Cater a party at my house. The food was amazing , a Salmon dish, Veal Piccata, Chicken Parm, Eggplant Rolletini, Mushroom Risotto, a Full tray spinach salad, two freshly baked Foccia breads the size of a large Sicilian pizza. The price was fair for 40 people, they delivered right on time and actually came in and set it all up for us. We will not doubt continue to use them for catering our parties

Food was absolutely delicious, oysters were very fresh and although I'm not a salmon fan, theirs was wonderful! Steak wasn't medium rare but honestly was just as juicy and delectible! Highly recommend.

Food was amazing from start to finish. My wife got the muscles in cream sauce appetizer and the ahi tuna entree and I got the garlic shrimp for appetizer and boneless prime ribeye for entree. Not only was the steak cooked to perfection, it was so buttery to the taste. Definitely will be coming back.

My wife and I went here last night for dinner and were very happy with this place. Good food, decent prices, and everyone was very friendly. PLUS they had live entertainment that perfectly matched the environment. We will be bringing our friends here for dinner!

Great restaurant. Came here with my son for lunch. Grilled octopus was great! Lobster ravioli was absolutely delicious! This restaurant is attached to Sonny G's that is right about the corner, so my son ordered a personal pizza and he loved it!

We had our daughter's Bridal Shower held at Romola's last Saturday. The food and service was top notch! The staff were very personable and polite. We will be frequent patrons of this wonderful restaurant!

Food was great I tried the seafood crepes and wasn't disappointed! The white sauce served was the bomb! The presentation was on point prices are really good staff was friendly and knowledgeable the decor was romantic will be back again for another date night

We celebrated our mother-in-law's 75th birthday at Romola's Seafood Grill and the service was superb. The atmosphere is warm , quant and inviting. The waitress and servers are attentive and not overbearing. The food has an exquisite taste and well prepared. The New Zealand Rack of Lamb taste great . The waitress even went out of her way to make the birthday celebration special. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Came here for my 10 yr anniversary. Atmosphere very nice and quiet. This place is BYOb which is turning out to be a better idea. Crab cake was good, seafood crepe delish, apple wood smoke bacon....yum yum. Sauted spinach...yum yum. Overall service excellent. Stay away from Mac and cheese....sorry.😒

First time I was there. Had a terrific meal. Greeted very nicely by a very nice young lady. Explained we were on a low carb diet and they substituted all starches for extra veggies. Served beautifully and everything was fresh and delicious. Highly recommended

My boyfriend and I made dinner plans for this spot. I was looking forward to trying it. I made reservations online for 6:30. When we arrived I parked on the street nearby. We walked in and was sat by one of the servers. We were served by about 4 people so I don't know any of their names. This place was byob so one of the servers opened it for us and read the specials. We went right with the menu items. I ordered the short rib and my boyfriend ordered the porter house steak. While we waited they served us bread. The bread was very dry so I didn't eat much. While we waited and drank our wine the chef came out to check on us. He was really nice. The wait staff was ok, they just weren't as attentive, I guess because pretty much every server served us. When the food came out it looked so good. We dug in and boy was it good. We both loved our dishes. The bill was about $75. We definitely will be back because the food was really good.

The service was very good, I truly enjoyed the food delicious plus presentation was also a plus. The grilled octopus was the best I have ever tasted. I would highly recommend this restaurant especially for anyone that loves fish.

The service was really quite good - and they even moved us over to a somewhat quieter table after the people beside us left. Very accommodating. The food was excellent. When we first were seated the restaurant was quite noisy and it was hard to have a conversation - but then people started to leave and it was pleasant from that point on. I would say don't go at the busiest time if you want to talk.

Everything was good! I didn't give 5 stars because the risotto was undercooked. Good customer service. Reasonable prices. You have to look for parking tho. The mussels I had were delicious! I needed extra bread for the sauce...lol BYOB

I had the seafood crepes which looked great but I think it's overrated. Inside the crepes are chopped pieces of seafood. My friend ordered the 16oz prime ribeye (medium) and it was overcooked to almost well done and it was also a bit too salty. There was complementary bread with olive paste.

I came here on a Tuesday night and the food was delicious. They don’t have the prix fixe menu which was disappointing because it was the reason we came, but the food was worth it. I definitely recommend the seafood crepe. I think coming on a weekend would’ve been a better experience with top notch service and lots of things happening, but with covid things are obviously different

I hate to leave a bad review but yesterday’s dinner was a mess. I understand restaurants are reopening and there is not enough wait staff but girls were not properly trained to work on the floor. As well food wasn’t good - Oysters we order were dry and not fresh , for sure they were sitting in the fridge opened for quit while. (I wouldn’t serve such a plate to anyone) We asked tuna to be cooked almost raw but got 2 tiny slices well done. Mussels dish came out cold and my tuna tartare was made out of some kind of fish not a good quality… :( I guess we just happen to order wrong dishes.

The restaurant was empty on a Sunday night. The waitress was not attentive to our needs. The worst part is that my husband and I both got sick that night from the food. The shrimp cocktail wasn’t chilled and probably was the culprit. Not worth the money won’t go back

Lost customers. We are long time customers of Sonny G’s. And decided to try Romola with our family one night for a special occasion. They sat us in Sonny G’s and charged us Romola prices because we had a child with us. They walked us through the kitchen to seat us in the other restaurant. We will never go to either restaurant again.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My mom invited my wife, son and myself to go here for her milestone 85th birthday. I looked at the menu before going and it was a Sunday Prix Fix with all advanced culinary seafood dishes. Scared me since we have an extremely picky eater. Mom told me he could get Italian food from Sonny's in the same building. Since I live 2 hours away I called Sonny's to verify. I was basically given the answer "if we eat at Romola's can we can only order from Romola's menu" Ok, so we sat the 85th birthday celebration out then. My son was very upset that we missed it. Especially since his grandfather just died. Later that day we get a picture of everyone eating their meal, one of his cousins is there with spaghetti and meatballs.

All the food ordered was warm when brought out. Nothing but the maple bacon had flavor but was also room temperature. Sent back crab cake that was not done at all. The waiter took it back to the kitchen. Returned 3mins later and said her husband the chef, said this is how crab cakes are... with the same exact crab cake I returned that I had put my fork through... I was so disappointed and disgusted of the quality of the food. Chef Ramsey need to come show them how it's done !!

My wife and I decided to have dinner at this highly reviewed place on New Year's Eve. The decor was nice, however it all went downhill and turned into a horrible experience. For appetizer, we had the grilled octopus, which was about the only enjoying experience at the restaurant. She got the $40.00 Chilean sea bass with risotto and I got the $39 sea scallops and jumbo shrimp in truffle oil with mushroom risotto. We have never had Chilean sea bass as rough in texture as that. Any other time we have had Chilean sea bass, the meat was buttery and juicy, but not here, leading me to believe it was definitely frozen. And even then, we've had better frozen Chilean sea bass before. The fish desperately lacked flavor, along with the risotto that came with it. My entree came with 2 sea scallops and 3 shrimp that were certainly not jumbo in size. The scallops had a weird mercury type taste to them and the soft center texture was a dead giveaway that these were frozen and not fresh. When it came time to pay, we presented our Groupon voucher - $30 for $50 worth of food. We checked the fine print prior to heading to the restaurant, and nowhere did it state that it was not valid on that day nor any holiday for that matter. The hostess brought our bill over and told us that they cannot accept the voucher today. I told her that the fine print did not exclude New Year's Eve nor any other holidays. She replied that the chef was adamant about it not being accepted for the night. She went back to speak with the chef, who I could see was furious for whatever reason, and looked like he had a temper issue. Why the chef is charge of whether a voucher is accepted is beyond me. She came back to tell us again that it was not accepted, so I asked to speak with the manager. She brought over a guy who did not appear to be a manager, maybe a busboy at best. Either way the guy shoves it down our throat that they will not accept the voucher and that we should understand as its New Year's Eve and they're a business. I refute that the fine print does not exclude that day nor any other holidays, so it is not our fault nor should they make up new terms on the spot. He continued to refuse to accept our voucher. At the end of the day, what would they have lost, $20? So after a heated debate with them for about fifteen minutes and having our New Year's Eve ruined, we decided it was not worth another minute of debate with staff that did not care about their customers. We paid the bill in full and left very disgruntled. I have never encountered a worse dining experience where the staff cared any less about their customers or even their business reputation. So in summation, if you want to be treated like money bags who are there just to shut up and eat their crappy overpriced food, then this is the place.

Totally ruined New Year's Eve. Absolutely awful. Cold, greasy, crab cake. Undercooked shrimp for 2 people. Menu says Homemade pasta. Not true. Slowest service. Nightmare. Took about 30 minutes to get the check. By that time we couldn't wait to get out of there. Disgusted
