Was Kunden über Ocean Palace Chinese Restaurant sagen
Ocean Palace is highly praised for its authentic Cantonese cuisine and dim sum, considered by many to be the best in NJ. Customers rave about the flavorful dishes and generous portions. Service can be slow when busy, and the decor is dated.

Always love to come for dimsum during lunch time. It’s really busy so come early or late, avoid the rush time. Authentic dimsum experience with carts, people shouting and narrow walkways. Be prepared to order food away once you get your table. Fresh ingredients, quick service. Definitely recommend shrimp dumplings, shu mai, radish cake.
One of the better Dim Sum spot in north ish Jersey area. Does all the classics really well, and grat varieties too! Didn't have to wait on the both occasions I was there. It's a bit more relaxed compared to some of the bigger places I have been to in the city. The space itself is super dated, but that's wasn't a huge deal. Definitely worth a visit.
There’s so many delicious dishes to choose from. The service is always great! My sister ALWAYS has to visit this place when she drives down with her family. This place holds a special place in my heart
One of the best dim sum restaurant in Central Jersey! Lunch time is highly recommended. On the weekend, they bring food on a cart and you can pick whatever you want to eat. Everything is so tasty and we love it! Price is very reasonable. You can also order from Entree menu, which is also delicious. It gets very crowded on weekend lunch time, so recommend going as soon as they open at 11:30am.
2025 and this Dim Sum Spot is the place to eat for Authentic Chinese Cuisine. Dim Sum in NJ ; not bad at all. Nuff Said. It’s all about Food and Portions. Plenty of parking. Old fashion atmosphere, don’t expect high tech devices or modern scenery. The service is at their own pace . When the food is ready, the dishes are served. May not be in the order as customers expect it to be. The price is reasonable. Not too expensive and you leave with a full tummy. Majority of customers are senior citizens with their companions.they are there to eat and socialize. THats why it’s a slow place services.
Place is family friendly, we were well taken care of and they made sure we were comfortable. The waiter was very attentive and knew all the menu. Calamaris were very tender and sweet just the right perfection. The egg drop soup was amazing. The shrimp dumplings were excellent as were the shrimp and pork ones ... I do highly recommend this family oriented restaurant.
We've come here quite a few times. We went early afternoon on a Sunday and it was really busy. There were a few carts with hot dim sum coming out of the kitchen every few minutes so we had food on our table within a minute of sitting down. It was really enjoyable not to order from the menu and just oick different hot food from these carts. Last review: Food was pretty good here. We had one dish which was beef and feel it was lacking a little flavor. The other dishes were great. Staff was nice as well.
Wow! An authentic Cantonese restaurant in NJ! I thought I lucked out with a very good Cantonese close to home, but I didn’t know what I was missing until today. I only recently learned of this restaurant and as it was Lunar New Year so decided to try it as it was larger than my usual spot and thought that could mean shorter wait times. And it was in fact so; 20 min wait on Chinese new year! Amazing and so worth the wait. The decor & ambiance felt like NYC Chinatown and the food was as good if not better. Everything we tried was so fresh and we were lucky enough to get a table near the entrance used for the dim sum carts to come out, so had first dibs and everything easy fresh and hot. Not 1 complaint from me and we found a parking spot as soon as we arrived. So well worth the 30 min drive. Can’t wait to go back and try dinner as the menu had my Cantonese favorites; lobster with ginger & scallions, pan fried or steamed flounder, salt & pepper jumbo shrimp, steamed chicken, roast duck, soy sauce chicken, to name a few. We wore red and gold, the Chinese royal colors and felt like the experience was new year good luck gift!
Updated 08/26/23 Still the best dim sum in NJ. I suggest the best time to visit is before 11:15am over weekend... Updated 09/03/22 Looks like everything has just gone back normal... Arrived at 11:00a and 30 minutes to be sit in.... Best dim sum in NJ Updated 05/28/22 Just visited with friends. The business has completely resumed to its top. The dim sum here is ranked No1 on my list. The earlier the better to avoid long line waiting over weekend. Updated 08/28/21 I guess COVID-19 does impact it. I found out the DimSum carts serve at weekend obviously decreased. So do the special DimSum plates.... But... the DimSum they provide are still that delicious... Just that if you can't wait for the serving carts, you can order from any serving staffs.... This is my first choice for DimSum restaurant... My most favorite Dim-sum restaurant in NJ. The food quality and selection are no less than those in Chinatown, NYC. It's also a very formal Cantonese cuisine restaurant. It's for both Chinese & Non-Chinese customer. Service is good and Staffs are friendly...
Probably the BEST DIM SUM in NJ. The 40-minute drive was worth it! I used to go all the way to NYC for authentic dim sums. I have heard so many good words about this place. Glad that I finally get to try it. The food was amazing and authentic. I actually prefer this place more now. 😁 Dining environment is clean and quiet. Price is reasonable, in fact cheaper than the other 2 dim sum restaurants I've been to in NJ. Food is tasty and portion is good. We went on a Thursday night, and ordered every single dim sum dish from the menu, seafood soup, and some veggies. It was a shame that they don't serve 腸粉 steamed rice rolls in evening during weekdays. Would love to go back on a weekend for lunch, when the dim sum carts are out and about, to try more yummy dim sums.😋
Food was awesome, staff was friendly. We were here for a birthday celebration and had the opportunity to order a huge crab along with a roast pig roasted in-house. The pig was first skinned to small pieces so that they can be eaten in the folded bun with a sweet sauce. The meat comes after chopped up on a large plate. Next, the crab legs come served cut in half, meat was sweet and easy to pry out of the shell. The rest of the meal depends on what you order but everything was delicious, not too heavy on the seasoning but not plain either. There were two desserts at the end: lotus buns and a papaya soupy dessert. This place also does dim sum in the mornings. But would definitely come back for the bigger dinner celebrations.
Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3/5 First time trying dim sum in Central Jersey and pleasantly surprised! The quality holds up pretty well compared to NYC spots. Big plus: generous portion sizes, especially if you order stir-fried dishes. Highlights: Beef Chow Fun 4.5/5: Huge portion with great wok hei (charred flavor) Shrimp Rice Roll 4.5/5: Super fresh and silky Tripe 4.25/5: Classic tripe, nicely seasoned, good texture Siu Mai 3.5/5: Decent, but didn’t taste super fresh Har Gow 3/5: Filling was good but the wrapper lacked freshness Tofu Skin Roll 2.5/5: Least favorite - texture and flavor fell flat Overall, a solid dim sum spot worth checking out if you’re in the area!
Recommended by relatives and I have to say how come I did know of this place sooner. I'm not saying that this is a gem of a find, but I sometimes crave some dim sum and get into the car and head out to Chinatown and look for parking I was like how bad do I want it. The food was delicious. Flavor was on point for a place all on its own. I'm glad I came earlier because within the hour, a line has form. There was also a lot of non asian waiting to get in. After I was done, I said we have to see what dinner taste like. We'll be back
Came here for family dinner, and overall, it was a decent experience. The staff were a bit all over the place and even knocked my cup of water over and said nothing (at least I got a new cup). Food wise, it was not bad, pretty tasty, and had a wide rage of dishes to choose from and came out quick. It's a good spot for big family style eating.
Came here for a birthday celebration and here’s my take: Pros: •So much food choices and everything was actually really great. •Service is fast as they come to you with carts/ off cart orders were relatively quick. •Spinning top to turn so there’s no reaching over the table or need to pass dishes around. •Servers were really nice and patient. •Parking lot is big/ lots of parking on the side and back. Con: •Had a reservation for 11:30am but waited for 15-20min past that time for the table. •Only limited seating in the lobby while waiting so we waited outside and people were smoking right out the front steps. (I think those people should be directed to do that on the side of the building as we had kids with us)
Came on a Saturday morning so it was packed when we arrived. However the tables turn over very fast and as we agreed to share table with another party, we only waited in the line for about 20 minutes. We ordered some dim sum dishes and the food was ok. One thing to complain was the Shu Mai. It was not thoroughly steamed so the center of it was still cold. Price is on the lower side as compared to other Cantonese cuisine restaurants in NJ.
The dim sum food seem to be awesome and tasty. It actually goes well with the typical hot oil sauce you may find in Chinatown restaurant. So not bad at all. Orders came pretty quick and guest services are great. Not sure about weekends as it may usually be busy. I will be trying the crab and roasted fish next time.
We visited this tea house today. The environment and tea were fine at first, but the overall experience was very disappointing. The food came out very slowly, which I could understand, but throughout the meal there was almost no service at all — no check-ins, no explanations, nothing. At checkout, the situation became unacceptable. Two of us spent over $60, and I had already left close to $6 in tip, which was purely out of courtesy given the lack of service. The staff then looked at the receipt and told me I was required to tip 15%. I clearly explained that: • We did not receive service that justified a higher tip • The tip shown on the receipt is suggested, not mandatory Attempting to force a higher tip without providing service is unprofessional and inappropriate. Tips should be earned through service, not demanded. I will not be returning and do not recommend this place.
