Sunset Pizza is a local favorite known for its friendly staff and consistently good pizza, especially the penne vodka pizza and rice balls. Many customers have been going for years. Some recent negative reviews mention inconsistent pricing and quality issues.

Great food, great people
Great local pizzeria
Great place
Love everything
Great pizza
I have been going to this place for over 30 years. Best pizza and I love the pizza dough heros. I no longer live in SI but when ever I am in town visiting family I make sure to stop in for a slice.
Stopped in for a slice I knew I was getting a good slice when I heard the owner speaking Italian which is unfortunately rare these days..Good pizza and very reasonable prices. Reminiscent of a typical neighborhood pizza shop in Brooklyn
The best rice ball parm I ever had & serviced with compassion. The specialty pies are soo worth it.
One of my old time favorite great selection of hot lunch and cold cuts been going there for 30 years
The shrimp and calamari parmesano hot hero is awesome and very good service.
I LIVE ON NOME AVE AND I ALWAYS CALL SUNSET FOR ALL MY NEEDS, I LIVE NEAR BARIOS AND DONT CARE FOR THEM. ITS WORTH THE TRIP,LONG LIVE SUNSET.
Everything I order Was fantastic For delivery or pick up the food was hot
an ac kool and cool place to dine must visited and the sauce is like candy
Great food all around!! Prices are reasonable.
Very good owner on site at all times making sure everyone is happy
The best slice on the south shore. Hands-down!
Their L&B is better than the original L&B in Brooklyn!
great food large portions love the sauce..
Best chicken soup I've had in a long time.
Great food reasonably priced...great service..
Great people, great food
Been going there for years - good stuff!
Excellent food, fast service, friendly staff
Love the sunset special, great chicken soup
My family has been coming to this pizzeria for almost 30 years! Same owner, same pizza every time. Definitely recommend!
So far really good. Pizza is really good and the food has been fresh, hot and tasty. Never had a problem with delivery always fast and friendly.
Pizza is delicious! Friendly staff and good prices. Tried Linguine with pesto, veggie pita and enjoyed both. Look forward to trying other dishes.
Excellent food. My favorite is their grilled chicken panini. They make it in their own bread. It’s so good. My husband and son say they make the best veal parm hero around.
One of the best places for pizza on Staten Island. Go grab a slice if you want to talk to their friendly employees and eat some pizza that will make you want to come back over and over again.
Excellent pizza in Staten Island. There are a few choices nearby but this is still my favorite. After the latest renovation the place looks great.
Nice selection of different pizzas. Great sauce. Just catered a party from Sunset. It was delicious!
My go to pizza since I moved out here. Always fast and friendly, food is always hot and tasty.
Best Pizza on Staten Island hands down. I been getting Sunset Pizza for years now. Great staff, very friendly, and they know what they're doing. If you never had Sunset Pizza you're missing out.
I order pizza, I get a classic Rossville pizza. This is the "I want a pizza on Friday night" type of joint. Meatballs are home made and you can tell. They also kick annoying zoomers out of the restaurant who make a ruckus so major respect there.
Sunset Pizzeria is a fantastic pizzeria. Sunset pizzeria has long been the subject of my curiosity as my late parents told me I went to school with the owners son. Last time I came here I had a relatively good memory of it. However, I was not completely certain of the details behind it, so I decided to come back to consummate my understanding of the place. It was an experience not to forget! What Sunset Pizzeria really distinguished itself with was the service I got. I got 1 buffalo roll, 1 pepperoni roll, 1 buffalo slice, 1 pepperoni slice and an order of Mozzerella sticks. The buffalo roll was great with good portions and a great taste even if it was as hot as Stromboli which was to be expected as it was freshly made. I have similar to say about the pepperoni roll being a good size and tasting well whilst being at a scorching temperature. The mozzerella sticks were a different shape but were functionally similar. I would say it did feel more similar to mozzarella in carozza though. The slices were massive, which is exactly how I remembered it. The buffalo slice was a bit of a bit different from what I expected but still tasted great. The pepperoni slice tasted good and met my expectations as far as a pepperoni slice goes. One of the people there, (I would describe him as having a Mediterranean complexion and a medium build with a face that can be firmly described as belonging to someone of Statentalian stock) noticed the size of my order and made it his duty and desire to give good service immediately clear. When I was trying to split the buffalo and pepperoni rolls to cool them down because they were too hot, he came and split them with a rolling pizza cutter for me which was awesome to watch. Throughout the order he doted on me to make sure everything went well, he was surprised that I was just going to eat the entire order at the pizzeria. By the end of it, he remarked that with the way I go through the food, I must be an MMA fighter. Ultimately, the food was great here but the real star of the show was the aforementioned statentalian and the amazing service he provided. Honestly he made eating there a pleasure. I'd gladly go there again if only just to see him again.

The pizza is so good! Not greasy or soggy super cheesy and crust is cooked to perfection. There chicken wraps are crispy and fresh and the fries are cooked to perfection and not greasy at all super delicious and fresh. Guy on the phone was also very kind the best pizza place we order from them all the time and we never have one complaint everything is always spot on delicious! 🤤🍕
Lovely place and great service and food was amazing
I try and make a stop whenever I'm in Staten Island! Really great food and service! You can't go wrong with their garlic knots, zeppoles, or any of their pizzas. Super thankful they remained open throughout the pandemic. Would recommend to others (and I have)!
Pizza is amazing and I really love this place.
Terrific food and the staff and owner are personable and kind!! We need more places like this
I'm having a rice ball right now and I have to say, sunset makes the BEST RICE BALLS! The owner is always there and he's super friendly and nice. The food is amazing, they have pizza special every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday for $15 cash, which is a great price.
We ate from sunset pizza since 1984 summer until we moved. When I'm in the area, I go back here. They have good food. The original owner was nice to us. I love their penne vodka pizza, amongst other foods I've ordered from them. Dear owner, thank you for writing me back. You would know me if you saw me in person. I was a teen when we first started going to your store. I love their penne vodka pizza.
We catered a party at my house and the food was delicious. Everyone at the party said it was the best pizza and hero’s on the island.
Sunset is one of the many local pizzeria’s in our area, but the hospitality shown makes them stand out from all the others. It’s more than being friendly and having great customer service, you feel like part of the family, a very welcoming atmosphere. Running a neighborhood business the way I remember it growing up. I had gone to other pizzeria’s in the area regularly and I didn’t feel my business was appreciated, however Sunset doesn’t lack appreciation. They even called their customers this holiday season to share their catering specials. We are loyal customers and will continue to visit Sunset and order in from them. Thank you for keeping that old school feel and showing your customers you appreciate them.
I’ve been going to Sunset Pizza for just over 40 years now For an excellent slice, that is always consistent, All their other foods Or also amongst the best With the one stand out being in my opinion, there sausage and pepper roll. Amongst the best best I’ve ever had!. There is zero reason for me to wanna go anywhere else

Great food
Had to wait a little longer than I thought because of a little miscommunication but pizza I got was very good
This place has been around for over 30 years. Love their rice balls with extra mozz!!!
Family run pizza store. L and b square pie is great
Place has been here for years and still kicking strong, I love it.
Great sauce, pizza is excellent. Will be back.
Stop by yesterday with my friends. Oboy what a Amazing surprise people there where very friendly and the service was Awesome and the pizza very delicious 8.2 On the pizza thank you Vito is the owner 👍everything was delicious glad we stop in 👍🇮🇹 Italiano
One of the old-school greats in the neighborhood. Been coming here since I was a kid. Vito is a great guy and makes good food
A good size slice for the price. Not crazy about the sauce they use. It's passable . Q
Neighborhood pizzeria always decent. Kid friendly staff
$24.00 for a pepperoni pie. Insane
Pretty tasty pizza for a decent price.
Pizza is good, but the workers are RUDE. I ordered a pie for pick up, I came early to sit and wait for it and one of the workers was telling me how he just received it and it’s not ready, his attitude was unbelievable. Because of that I won’t give them any business anymore
Was a decent slice the size was good not a lot of flavor but he did let me use the bathroom. Staff were friendly enough
Owner is nice sweet man, whoever else in there making the pizza has a typical staten island pizza guy attitude… kind of annoying. Pizza is decent prices are good.
We ordered tonight and was very disappointed. We are all sick and looking forward to some pizza lol. They were on time. They rang the bell and left by the door. The pizza had no taste and two slices were burnt black on the crust. We didn't even call because they closed at 7 today due to the holiday. We order all of the time and pizza just not the same.
Wings were undercooked had a really bad texture with pizza was amazing and service was great. The wings are very dry too.
I was not very pleased with my experience. I don't really care if I get greeted or not, but the guy at the register totally glazed over my presence because he was on his cell phone. I stood there for maybe 30 seconds until i said "hi" and he was surprised and said, 'hey just one minute' and proceeded to stay on his phone for maybe 2 more minutes. He did apologize though, but i feel like that's just rude to the customer. When my pizza came out, the taste was pretty good, but it was lukewarm. I wouldn't really go out of my way to go back, but I'd eat there if I had to.
I go to this place once in awhile the pizza is good the rolls are good. Today what I did not like to see was the guy wearing black shirt with a picture on it wearing burgundy shorts and a black hat and beard making a pizza pie and picking at it and eating from it while he's making the food. Also touching his lower area maybe his shorts string and then touching the pie again and then eating from it. Not very sanitary.
I went here Wednesday around 6pm. My first time here. Ordered the Cesar salad, a square slice and a regular slice. They had 1 old square slice left. I took it. The regular slice wasn’t even warmed up. I was disappointed with the Cesar salad. The romaine lettuce is not chopped small. A glob of dressing is placed in the center of the salad. Not mixed in. I tried the regular slice today, it was not good. I threw the square slice out. I’m sorry to the owners. However, I expected better food. No napkins or plastic utensils were given.
One day after work this week I decided to stop by my local pizza place that I haven't been to in a long time. I was talking to an old friend of mine and she was telling me that this pizza place has gone down hill as far as food quality and service.I didn't want to believe that so I had to try it out for myself. I was truly disappointed in the quality I felt as if it wasn't worth what they were charging me. Their prices have skyrocketed as well. I can also definitely agree with another review about the man who is making the food wasn't sanitary at all.One last thing Id like to say is I would appreciate reading actual responses from the owner instead of AI generated.
I’ve been going to this pizzeria for many years now. I used to enjoy going here until it felt like I was getting ripped off. I believe they make up prices on a daily basis. Because I ordered a chicken parm hero last week in person, and it was 14 dollars. Then just yesterday I ordered one again but this time over the phone, and it was Apparently $15.50 I did not place that order! I check there website and Menu in the store, and it says 14 dollars so the following day I go in person and order and it’s back to 14 dollars this isn’t the first time something like this has happened to me here. They do the same thing when it comes to getting a side dressing. Some days it’s 50 cents then others it’s a dollar. It’s just unfortunate because I’ve been going here for years, and it’s my local pizzeria, and it no longer feels family like(It hasn’t for the past year now). I Strongly believe this is due to employees, not being properly trained and the constant workers that go through this place. The food is usually a hit or miss. I also believe this is because theres always someone new making and preparing the food it when I look behind the counter.

Took 2 bites and threw it out
Today I ordered two calzones first off the girl or guy wrote my address wrong so I waited even longer I ask for a fresh one made and they sent me two old ones really guys thank you and I always eat your food
Hard to believe this is NYC. Tastes like movie theater or amusement park pizza.
The owner is dishonest and will rip you off! Also the kitchen and the owner look filthy! The owner looks like he’s sick! AVOID GOING TO THIS RIP OFF SO CALLED PIZZA PLACE! The food sucks too! It’s all dried out and the owner should be reported for violating health codes in preparing food!
Ordered vodka deluxe pie. Pizza crust was terrible, no sauce, just gross. I've tried more then once and it's hit or miss but when it's miss.. it's terrible! Never again.
Meatballs are all breadcrumbs and no meat. Extremely nasty owner, was the first and last time I ever went good riddance.
Terrible service, waited half an hour in store for a pick up, pizza ended up being cold. Waited 45 min for a rice ball with meat. Never going there again.
This pizza thank God it was only 1 slice, and that the owner raised the price by 20 cents. This slice was simply disgusting, from the crust, to the very bland sauce, and the mozzarella cheese. This pizza tasted like it came out of one of those frozen pizza that you buy at the Supermarkets. Can't understand, how this place is still in business.
ordered from here for the first time. pizza was funky.. smelled like spoiled dairy. Couldn't even get it down, had to spit it out. delivery driver was kind, as the person on the phone. just tasted spoiled milk
Just got a baked ziti slice…..tastes like nothing! No flavor at all!!! Don’t waste your money.
I never leave reviews but don’t waste your money. Vodka pie sucked. Barely any sauce it was so dry. Live maybe 5 min away and it came ice cold. Plenty of other better choices in same area.
