Delicious food. Very clean. Both Indoor and Outdoor Dining available. Very nice servers. Laid back atmosphere. We had the Vegetable Tempura, Rice, Garlic Edamame, Avocado Roll, Cucumber Roll, Hot Green Tea and an Arnold Palmer Lemonade Tea. For desert we had the Tempura Ice Cream. Everything was delicious 😋
Lots of seating options, indoor and outdoor. Sushi is always fresh and delicious. Staff is always friendly
To all my sushi lovers, highly recommend this great sushi spot. One of the best meals I've had in a long time, food was delicious. I'm a hard core sushi gal and sushi is super fresh and the dishes on the menu are amazing! They have something for everyone, but definitely go for the sashimi platter. The sashimi combo platter is amazing quality. The sake menu is also exceptional.
Delicious food, and great atmosphere! Love the tempura sweet potato and shrimp tempura roll. The reverse, happy hour is such a great idea. We had such a great experience and these folks treated us to free dessert after overhearing that we had a rough week. We appreciate you so much and will be back soon!
- Sake house - Lady in red - Salmon special - Red rock - spicy string beans - chicken yaki noodle Everything amazing. Spicy string beans portion size is very small if not happy hours.
Great food and vibes, and Toby is an excellent server.
The only issue I had is our waiter retracted the happy hour menu 15 min prior to the end after letting us read through it for 5 min. But great quality sashimi and very cute place to eat.
Traditional old time in a new setting. Excellent! Hot saké ($10) is perfectly heated. I ordered Sexy Bomber Roll ($19) with crispy freshwater eel, raw salmon and lightly cooked tempura. Delicious! Wish you a lovely time! 💖
Sake House by Hikari is hands down the best sushi experience I've had outside Japan. It's simply incredible! The staff was incredibly kind, prompt, and friendly while the ambiance is calm and serene. Everything was amazing and the sushi were prepared to absolute perfection. Sushi is great and it literally melts in your mouth. I’d give this sushi experience a 10/10. This will be my go-to for local sushi from now on. This sushi restaurant should DEFINITELY be on your list of must-eats while you're in Culver City. Wish I could go back in time and eat it again already.
We really enjoyed our meal at this Culver City restaurant with plenty of outdoor seating. The tempura was crispy, the udon chewy, and the sushi yummy. If vegetarian, beware the Miso broth has a fish base, But there are still other items to choose from. The bento box was a great value as they gave enough food for two to enjoy. Our college age member said the music was 🔥. The service was attentive, and knew the menu well; although getting the togo containers took some patience. We would go back.
absolutely, exceptional food. The tofu appetizer was particularly notable, wonderful texture and lovely, micro greens, and the hand rolls were unusual and so delicious. The night we were there the yellowtail was exceptional and the combination of green onions in the traditional sushi- Negahama maki was best we’ve had anywhere, including Japan.
Happy that Culver City is making it possible for restaurants to be open during this mess and this whole area has done a fantastic job at making the out door seating awesome. Staff was friendly, waited maybe 10 minutes for a table and had great service the rest of the time. Food, drinks and deserts were fantastic. If you have some room left over after your meal I highly recommend the green tea and strawberry Macaroons.
Service was fast can only eat outside at this time. Food was good, sake good, parking I'll leave it to you decide. Over all good specials an great happy hour
Good happy hour specials. Tasty sushi and karaage chicken. Large outdoor patio in front.

They have a really nice happy hour. The staff is great and the atmosphere is chill.
I truly don’t know how anyone leaves a bad review for this place. It’s my neighborhood go to for years now. I really like the changes they’ve made in the last year or so. Gives a great izakaya feel. Yellow sashimi is a consistent winner!
This place is the best. John the server is the man. Great beers great food all at a great price. Ten out ten recommend. Come here and ask for john for the best experience of your life
Great food, great atmosphere! Toby hooked it up with great service and the food came super quick! Highly recommend the beef gyoza and salmon on chip.
One of my fav places in Culver City. I love coming here and being treated with care and hospitality. John and the whole staff are wonderful and they have the best happy hour around.
I come to Sake House all the time and every time I come here it exceeds my expectations. From the service to the amazing Sushi they serve, I am always satisfied. The sushi is always fresh and delicious but the happy hour is even better. You can't beat the size of the beer glasses they give you, they're huge! Also John was one of the best servers I have ever had. He gave the best service and everything I ordered came so fast. I will definitely be coming here a lot more often and can't wait for my next visit.
Best sushi restaurant in Culver City by far. John is the man, very helpful and always giving amazing service. Ray is also a great server. Both of them make this place feel like home. Also their happy hour menu has some deals that literally no other restaurant in LA could beat. If you like sushi and Japanese beer you HAVE TO give this place a try.
We stumbled upon this restaurant to watch the Rams game and had an amazing experience! Happy hour was the best deal on beer I’ve ever seen and by far the best deal in downtown Culver City. The happy hour sushi was fantastic too! Also loved that the sake is served in an ice bucket to keep it cold. Staff were friendly and attentive despite how busy it was. Will definitely be back!
Had a great experience here. The sushi was fresh and well-prepared, and everything came out quickly. Special shoutout to our server John — he was super friendly, attentive, and fast, which made the whole meal even better. Definitely coming back!

I used to frequent this place for several years and noticed the quality going down over time, however it is under new management and I have to say I'm really impressed with the makeover! The quality of sushi has gone up, with a new line of chefs to please a variety of palettes and the prices are on par with the surrounding competition. The ambiance caters to couples and small groups, but families didn't seem out of place either. They've done a really great job of breathing new life into the venue. If you've been here before and was disappointed, give it another try, I'm glad I did. Happy hour all night Wednesdays and the occasional Sapporo Friday specials, I'm definitely going back.
Good night out. The atmosphere is a good balance of active crowd and cozy quiet dinner. Sushi was average but nothing bad. Service was good and friendly, however they were quick to take away HH menus 5min before it ended.
This is a great local spot for delicious sushi. They have great happy hour and lunch specials with a great portion. We ate about 5 rolls; karrage; edamame and it was enough for 3 people. I wasn’t a fan of the albacore dish. Otherwise, everything else was great. I will absolutely be back here when in the area
I'm a big fan of their lunch special! For $25, I got far more food than I could have asked for. The nigiri was the highlight of the show because the fish was very fresh. Service was also very attentive. Since we had so many plates at our table, they stopped by often to clear things out of the way. If you're looking for a good deal on sushi, this is your place!

Very good local spot. Awesome happy hour, friendly accommodating staff. recommend the sweet shrimp. Parking can be tricky....but on street is available at no cost after 6pm.
I've been here a few times, but during the last visit we arrived shortly before the end of happy hour. Thinking we may be able to get an order in before it ended the waiters ignored us and didn't even give us menus( a couple who was seated after us got menus). When I asked someone for a menu the wait staff said to us rudely, "you'll get one after happy hour ends" and brushed us off. I understand they may have been busy and perhaps this is one of their policies, however the waiter was just taking another tables last order before the end of happy hour and if there is a time limit they should adjust it accordingly on the menu or say that to us in a polite way. We left the restaurant right after that.
The fish was not super fresh and I felt like for the price of $25 for a lunch “special” it was not great value. The tuna especially smelled fishy, I was worried I’d get an upset stomach later but luckily I didn’t. The beef gyoza was good but fresh fish is the main draw for me at a sushi place and this was not it, especially at that price point.
First time was good, second time was bad. Good: Lunch special Mixed tempura Soup Salad One of the rolls I forgot the name of Bad: Piece of a chopstick in my salad Terrible spicy tuna Fishy salmon in the Philly roll Free melted mochi ice cream as an apology for the chopstick in my salad
Been going here for years. Sushi is great. Service just ruins it. These guys should not be serving. They just don’t know better and are rude. If you have ten minutes left in happy hour, it’s happy hour but they don’t want to serve you. That the only time they stay away because the rest of the time the are trying to rush you out of there to turn the table. If I ask to start with soup and edamame don’t bring it with all the rest of my dishes. Bring that first and spread out the rest. And please do not come over a half dozen times to ask if I want more when I have not finished the huge platter I have, then stand over me and blatantly ask if I am going to get any more food or do I want the check. Love the food but not going back. I eat a lot, have a big bill and tip well. I’ll go somewhere where they want me to have good service as opposed to being rushed out because they want to close when it’s not even closing time.
They have a really great space with a nice front patio with ample seating. Inside is cute as well. Service seemed great at first, but then kind of disappeared which was disappointing. The food was fine. I had the chicken noodle dish because I can’t eat seafood and it was tasty. The edamame were under-salted and flavorless. The shishito peppers were good, but if you can’t eat seafood, make sure to specify that you don’t want the bonito on it.

I ordered dinner for my family from this place via door dash. It was pretty bad all the way around. Probably my worst experience with takeout. Udon and rice were ok. The salmon in the Philly roll wasn't even the right color. It tasted old and barely edible. I hope I don't get sick tonight. Toro hand roll was also terrible. I am being nice giving this place two stars. I don't know what that salmon nigri tastes like since it was left off order but probably as bad as the Philly roll. No idea how they have 4.2 stars still.
This spot serves the tiniest sushi rolls I've ever experienced. They were the size of something you'd find at a gas station or super market, seriously. I wish I took a photo of it. Average price but not worth what you get. I ordered the Salmon special roll, spicy tuna crunch roll, and 911 roll. If the rolls were normal sized or the price reflected the amount then I would consider going up to 3 or 4 stars. They tasted fine but not enough to warrant a repeat visit.
Two stars because the food is generally good, and people are friendly. But 25 dollars for a salmon plate with two burnt pieces of salmon...
My husband and I came here for dinner. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The server took our drink order and brought our drinks, but then forgot about us. We waited about 30 minutes just to place our food order. The restaurant gets very busy during dinner time, and there was only one server working. They definitely need to hire more staff to keep up with the crowd.

Food was below average. The server was rude and unaware of the menu items, brought the wrong dishes and insisted we ordered them. Served hot tea from a plastic storage container. Prices are high for what you get. Server brought the check while we were eating and when we said we don’t want to pay until we are done he rejected that request. All in all never going back again.
Probably good place to go for happy hour if you like cheap beer but do not eating food and are not in a rush to get your check
Awful tasteless cold food. The salmon was a grey color. Avoid this place. I ordered thru Postmates and they gave me a refund. I had CRST bento box. Ugh.
I didn’t end up going. When I called to ask if they had Happy Hour and of their menu, the man on the phone said “you can check online or Yelp.” And I told him I had already checked on their website and I don’t have Yelp… but he had already hung up on me. This is why I decided not to go there for dinner with my friends; because if he was that impatient, I couldn’t even imagine how impatient they would be while we were trying to place our order or get a table.
This place should focus on it's sushi versus trying to do whatever it's trying to do. It seems like they are trying to get their neighbors overflow from the sports bar next door. Are you a sushi spot or not? Spend your energy and time focused on serving up good sushi. Right now it's terrible.
