The catfish is so good. The oysters are fresh and good sized. Great service. I feel like I am on the gulf coast every time I eat there. It's a weekly staple now. Red beans and rice? YES! Crawfish?YES! Seasonal specials? YES! Friendly staff and strong drinks. COLD BEER!
This is our favorite family place and also date place. It’s great for a casual drink or beer and to go order, and even better when you can eat in house. Beer is served in frosty glass. Their chicken and sausage gumbo is legit and also our favorite dish!
There pasta Monica lunch special was absolutely delicious!! The bread was supple, the salad was fresh and crispy, and the pasta? oh the sauce!!! It was so good I was lickin the dang To go container! I am definitely gonna be adding this place to the rotation! Thank y'all for holding it down on lowest Greenville for as many years as you have! Don't you go nowhere!
Oh my goodness. I haven’t had this food this good since I last went to NOLA! We took our family there for the first time tonight and it will not be our last! We started it off with the Boudin Balls and Cajun Fries with cheese and gravy. Delicious! The gravy should be illegal it was so good. We all tasted each other’s entrees, Stuffed Flounder, Catfish topped with crawfish etouffee, Blackened Redfish Pontchartrain, Red Beans and rice…..all amazing, so very delicious. Service was excellent, Michelle was so good! Then we had the Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce and Key lime pie, so good. We enjoyed ourselves so much! Forget 5 stars, 10 out of 10 for us !!
HIGHLY recommend dining in. Gobsmackingly delicious food, the lady that helped me was kind, patient and just overall fantastic service. Refilled my water without asking, and served great food good portions at a great price! Ordered the Seafood fondue with shrimp pasta. Man, might come back here again if the opportunity grants itself to me. 10/10
Charlie’s Seafood Kitchen is a true gem! The crawfish is incredibly fresh, the portions are generous, and every dish is packed with flavor. The crab fingers in garlic butter are absolutely delicious, and the flounder topped with cream sauce is top-tier — easily one of the best I’ve had. Every plate was a 10 out of 10. If you love seafood done right, this place is a must-visit.
Family owned restaurant specializes in Cajun cuisine. Nawlins style decor enhances the dining experience. Emily was our waitress and her attention to our every need was outstanding, Great bar and the coldest beer on tap. Appetizer choices are plentiful. The seafood fondue is a must. Fresh oysters and boiled peel and eat shrimp is a good start. Two gumbos- seafood and chicken and sausage. Try the crab cakes too . Anything fried is delicious. In season, try the crawfish it’s mouth watering good. Half crawfish tails and half crawfish etouffee was an awesome plate. Save room for the house prepared key lime pie dessert. Lower Greenville Ave has enjoyed this location for 30 plus years Once you visit you will see why it has stood the test of time.
I've been a customer here since 1999 when the original owner Charlie McGuinnes still presided over. The menu items have changed a little over the years with many old favorites still being served up. Being a native New Orleanian I have to spice up some of the dishes as they are a little tame for my taste. There's lots of Cajun and creole choices. Most anything fried is great. Red beans and rice is one of my favorites.
Fish was really good, crab cake was just ok because it didn't have much crab meat in it so I wouldn't recommend it. I tried multiple things from the menu but the only thing I would recommend is the seafood fondue. Drinks were great, I don't remember our waitress name but she was awesome, the customer service was great. The parking was not so great though.
The server was great. I had the Rockefeller oysters 6 for 27$ .. they tasted good but I believe they used packaged oysters not fresh. Each oyster had 2 or 3 oysters on it. That would mean they served me old/used oyster shells and just added new oysters on top. For 27$ they should be fresh. And I’ve never seen a fresh oyster come with 2/3 oysters in it.. very disappointed.
This was my first time trying this place so I didn't want to order too much and be disappointed, but I was. The crawfish was spicy🌶️ but it lacked seasoning, it tasted as if it was packed with Old Bay seasoning, it was not juicy as I'm used to and the body was bigger than the tail, no one I know eat the body of the crawfish, I prefer small crawfish. The gumbo was good, I rated it an 8 out of 10, but I definitely will not be going back, I just feel like nothing else will be well seasoned. Also they have a gnat problem , they kept flying around my food and some was In the restroom as well, quit a few in the men's restroom, said my partner. The staff was great though
The atmosphere was great! We were there on a Sunday afternoon and there was live music, loved it. But the food was only ok. I ordered the stuffed flounder with grits which wasn't bad but it wasn't anything to make me say "yea we gotta come back!" My husband had the barbecue shrimp and grits which was just disgusting to me. Tasted like worcestershire sauce soup! I suggest staying away from that if you do happen to go.
1st off this place felt like a morgue, it was colder than a polar bear toe nails. But i guess that could be subjective? Our 1st waitress was not very attentive but the second one saved the day. We seen someone recommend this place on Instagram and we're very optimistic and like to try new things and create new experiences. But this was an epic fail. They went on to say how good the catfish was and etc. We're pescatarians so all we eat is fish. So we've been around the block with fish restaurants to say the least. And if we had to score this place on the fish alone and not including the service & atmosphere. It'll be a solid 3 out of 10. If your used to eating bland food, then I guess this would excite you. But for us we were highly disappointed 😞. Trust me it looks good but our taste bugs went on strike. The dish was crispy & flaky on the outside and the fish was slightly undercooked on the inside. And even tho the onions rings are handmade in-house, something was off about them. But then again your talking to a person that has experienced almost every fish restaurant in the Dallas/oak cliff area. So I have a lot to compare this too... would I go back?? This is an iron fist "NO!" And to the owner, some renovations are needed. It felt like someone handed this restaurant down to an heir that didn't want it, so they let it go/fall by the wayside. Needless to say, we took our food to go and gave it away. Razzoo's has a more authentic new Orleans flair than is place. And we all know that's far from the truth.. like we know that olive garden is not authentic Italian food lol.. not to be a complete bash on this place, just know it can improve but if you don't. You'll only retain your old customer fan base...
Food is good! But the service really does suck. No ever came and ask for refill till later and the waitress never even came ask if we need anything until I flagged one down! We will definitely not be back. Place yes is busy but maybe get more staff so they can be more attentive! Thank you!
Absolutely disgusting experience. I came to celebrate with family and friends, and it turned into a total nightmare. The manager had the nastiest attitude—rude, dismissive, and clearly didn’t care about customer service. My friend and I both ordered the crawfish étouffée, and somehow mine came out looking completely different—pale, watery, and absolutely flavorless. It tasted like someone dumped crawfish into dirty dishwater and called it a meal. No seasoning, no flavor, no effort. To make it worse, the place was infested with gnats. We spent half the time swatting bugs away from our food like we were at a picnic in the swamp. Disgusting and completely unacceptable. Save your money and go literally anywhere else. This place is a joke.
