I had such a lovely experience at KU Sushi! The service was quick and efficient, and the staff was so warm and welcoming. Everything I ordered was delicious—the salmon avocado roll was incredibly fresh, with just the right combination of flavors, and the miso soup was a comforting and tasty start to the meal. While it's a bit on the pricier side, the quality of the food makes it totally worth it. If you’re looking for a convenient spot with great food and a friendly atmosphere, I’d definitely recommend this place!

This is one of my favorite hidden gems for fresh sushi. They have an extensive menu. I personally love the tuna tower and gyoza. The jalapeño roll is also a must get. The ambiance is casual and small. You can sit at the sushi bar as well.

Went here the other night and will be returning. Probably one of the best meals I have had in a long time!! The sushi was great- fresh, no fishy taste and looked great. Also got chicken fried rice which was fantastic, and the sesame and orange chicken was fabulous as well. Good prices too! They do a great job on presentation and service. If you are with a party, just make sure you let them know if you want the bill split...I was with 3 other people and they didn't split our bill so I had to go to the counter to get it taken care of. But overall great and tasty food!

This is a good local neighborhood sushi restaurant. Good family atmosphere. Good service. Sushi chefs are great. Menu is varied and diverse. Been here many many (probably 50+) times, never a bad experience.

I’ve lived in Dallas for 7 years now and my wife and I eat sushi about once or twice a month and have tried many different places since living here. Ku Sushi is a hole in the wall restaurant and isn’t flashy or showy like some sushi restaurants, but don’t let that fool you. The food is DELICIOUS. We get something different every time we go and always come away impressed. This is our favorite sushi by a long shot.

Busy place on the weekend so make sure to make a reservation. This place has the best selection of riceless rolls I've ever seen. The service here is very polite and attentive. The Lovely roll is very good and for salmon, go with the Double Caper roll.

The best california rolls I have ever had, hands down. Lunch prices are good and portion was enough to fill me up. Not sure I'd pay the dinner prices unless portions went up with them. I will definitely be going here for lunch again.

First time here and was happy to have found this Japanese restaurant. Big variety of sushi rolls, appetizers and entrees. Wait staff attentive and food came out quickly. Everything was tasty. My husband loved his miso cod. Entrees came with soup and salad. Price is $20-30 range. Good size portions and we are stuffed.

Some of the best sushi in the nation. Personally. The Love Love roll IS the best roll in the nation. They have a large selection of riseless rolls that are to die for. If you are looking for a sushi dinner, look no further. If you are not a sushi fan, don't worry they have amazing entrees there too!

honestly, amazing !! the food was sooo good, and our hostess Joy and server Tiffany were honestly some of the nicest people we had ever met at a restaurant!! Very hospitable ! The specialty rolls were great (suggested: dragon, ku-mori, white russian). Also, the Chilean sea bass was amazing, the sauce was literally to die for. Would highly recommend trying it out!

Its hard finding a decent sushi spot with good rolls and good sushi in general and presentation of it as of itself. So be prepared when you step into Ku Sushi. Not your typical location but that's okay and its not really close to any of your desirable spots its just hidden. Other than that food omg its so amazing and I would have to say the best roll I've eaten in a long time and I'm not a sushi roll type of guy!!! Service should standard as always and they did their best to clean up, fill up water without having to ask. Food we ordered the fried rice and two rolls one was the volcano roll and the other was the genza roll and boy was that tasty!! The wait wasn't too long which was good and as I've stated earlier the presentation was amazing along with service!! Come stop by if you want just a quiet dinner or lunch or even quick bite to eat!! OHHH and price is absolutely reasonable meaning cheap so you don't have to break the bank while eating here!!

Best Sushi I've had in the US. All the meats are not just fresh, but so thick and tender. I wouldn't be mad if they up their charge (pls don't lol). It's just that much worth it. Atmosphere is peaceful and calm

If I could give more stars, I would. I love all of the rolls I've tried here. The fish is so fresh and perfect. And on top of all that, my son is severely allergic to avocado, and they were so accommodating to ensure his safety. Our fave rolls (aside from the sushi and sashimi) are Ginza, tuna tataki roll, sexie, and the panic roll.

I would have given this restaurant 5 stars, but for some reason, the service nor the food was on point. The waitress took our order and repeated it back to us and then ... the dreaded long wait .... and to top it off, it wasn't right, so yet another long wait. I had actually finished my food by the time the rest of my spouse's food came out.

D

Our first time and very very impressed. An expansive menu and super busy...which I commend them for, it's always a good sign. Left only 4 because our waiter tapped out and disappeared but we'll go back sure... There's always room for improvement, stay tuned...

Fashioned as it was built to the Japanese in Japan and I write this because it's tiny, and compact. Great service, fair pricing, decent restroom, big parking but not big enough because it's shared with other restaurants. You will find hard time looking a good parking spot. 4 starts becuase it's authentic genuine flavor.

05/17: stopped by for dinner and had the sushi combo and the salmon egg sushi. The yellow tail, white tuna, and the salmon egg sushi were super yummy! First time here for dinner. I thought the sushi was fresh, service was fine (they were there when you needed them and we didn't feel rushed), and they have an extensive menu with lots of things to try with specialty rolls. I had the chirashi and for the price, the portion was good. I liked that they put furikake (rice seasoning) on the rice under the sushi and I left very full. It did come with a rather large salad and a cup of miso soup too. I def won't mind coming back to try their other dishes. It is pricier than some of the other places though but I don't mind if the food is good. 😁

Went for a quick lunch. The quality of the fish is average. Really loved the rice-less sushi rolls, they were very tasty and the sauces were delicious. We also ordered the sirloin beef which was very hearty, but we did not love the meat, had a lot of fat. I would define this restaurant as Asian fusion, not traditional Japanese. The service was extremely fast and very friendly.

Ku is a neighborhood favorite! The food quality is always amazing. They have a well rounded menu that includes not only sushi but Japanese entrees. The service is great! Many of the employees have been there for several years and they have a good attitude and are eager to make your dining experience great. This is a neighborhood restaurant with a nice, quiet atmosphere. The dark, quiet and quaint ambiance is not right for a large festive group. Its perfect for date night, a family dinner or even flying under the radar for a solo dinner.

we had tuna tower (excellent), sushi sampler (pricy), dumplings and quite nice wines. All food was really good. Our service was abysmal. Servers couldn't seem to get us utensils when needed, take another wine order, and left our menus on our two-top table all evening. I finally asked if they could please take them away. Servers were all young girls, perhaps training. I will come back and not sit at same table in hopes of different servers.

The restaurant was appealing and customer service was prompt. My favorite dish was the salmon tower which left me wanting more. As an entree, I ordered the Chilean halibut, I believe it was and I’ve never been more disappointed in my life considering it was a $35 dish. I took one bite and decided I would not continue. The fish was in a watery tasteless sauce, fish was unseasoned, and the veggies next to the fish were flavorless as well. Calamari was also inedible. I might return but will stick to sushi or the salmon tower again since it was amazing.

A
Aaron Heisler

It was just okay. We had sushi boat for 2. I didn't feel the fish was very high quality. It wasn't bad, we finished the meal. Definitely not worth the $79 price point.

C
Collette Williams

Let's start off by say when the waitress was told about a severe shellfish allergy, how many times we had to remind her off the allergy. Every time we asked was the menu item imitation crab her response was " I think it's imitation". And every we ordered a roll she would suggest using real crab instead. This child was not only not paying attention had very little mindfulness and situational awareness. We ordered tempura and received vegetable egg rolls. I had such high hopes for this establishment, especially considering the neighborhood it serves. The food was just ok, the service was horrible.

A
Alex Smith

The quality of fish is below average. The rolls all have crab or tempura shrimp in them... This is not a real sushi place. The service is excellent and it's a clean atmosphere. They also offer disposable moist towelettes when you sit down. Disgusting and environmentally unfriendly.

J
Jessica Lee

Total disappointment. Where to start… took forever to even bring a water and taking our orders? Food took forever to came out? Took a wrong order but didn’t correct it? Was told that their refrigerator is broken so there’s no cold desserts? (Honestly then how are they even serving normal dishes?) our waiter seemed he tried but he quite didn’t speak English well enough to tell what is going on, what the menu is.. just overall, total disaster. Each dish is very over priced. Like, miso soup is $4 per person (which was the most blend miso soup ever, like.. if you put just miso paste in warm water, that would be better than this), edamame was $6.50 (and had no taste lol), no single roll is under $18. For rolls, taste-wise it was alright. But not worth it haha no. Never coming back. Not even worth posting pictures so I am not doing it. Fyi, we still tipped this service 25% just because it’s a life.

R
Richard Barbosa

In the fewest words, not good. Ordered some uni and gyoza to start. They gave me a plateful of uni like it was a main. Freshness is so important with fish of any kind, particularly true for Uni, and it is not to be found here. Gyoza was a nightmare, oily pits. Spent $60 for a plateful of gross Uni that I took 3 bites of, a view of a menu full of uninspired rolls, and Costco grade gyoza. I was honestly so unimpressed I simply cashed out and left. The Chefs seem pleasant and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is relatively pleasant, once you get over the fish market smell. I’m an avid foody, and have no problem paying for it excellence, but do yourself a favor, and skip this joint. There is much better Japanese cuisine to be had in north Dallas. If you’re simply looking for a California roll, then you may be fine. But if you’re looking for any higher form of quality than look elsewhere

I really hate to leave this review but I feel obligated to. We visited this restaurant on Christmas Day (and they were open, which is super nice), and the vibe from the guy seating tables and who waited on us was that he was annoyed we were there. No problem, we figured he was probably he had to work on Christmas day so we didn't take it too personally. I ordered a mixed nigiri plate and and my wife ordered a spicy tuna roll and a California roll. I love sashimi and nigiri, and as we always try to go to reputable places for sushi, I had only had one other bad experience ever until now. Well, the second I tried a piece of salmon, I knew something was off. There was a skunkiness I had never tasted in salmon sushi before. The yellowtail was ok. Then I tried a piece of dark grey fish I think might have been mackerel, and man... It was so, so hard to chew that piece up and finish it. It tasted foul and the texture was odd too. I left 70% of my plate untouched which I've never done before. Fast forward 12 hours and I have the worst case of food poisoning I've ever had. My stomach is wrecked. I've had a fever all day and can barely stand up. I sincerely hope something was just off in the quality this day because it was a holiday, maybe they couldn't get their normal suppliers or something. But since eating here actually made me sick, I felt a review was necessary.

The most important thing to note is the RAW fish in the sushi rolls was warm, the rice with fish eggs on top was warm. I'm going to report them to the health department before KU kills someone, or make them violently ill. The service was poor. I had to request everything but the check. Our table was being cleaned while still seated, which is rude. I won't ever return, BUT I will report the temperature of the raw fish to protect other's who choose to go here. You've been warned!!

J

The sushi was good but the Ahi Tower was 1/3 of the size of other places. The waiters were standing up front the whole time. I had to keep getting up to go ask them for something I needed. Haven’t left a $0 dollar tip in years and years but it was very much deserving of it.

A
Allen Wang

This place does not care of their food quality. I received a moldy orange in lunch bento box with my friend. The server took it away without looking at it and said nothing about it. It was disgusting. The place is dark, we can hardly see those molds on the food. I recommend, if you plan to go this place (which I recommend against it), do not just eat your food without looking at it first.
